I'm not really sure how we found this place . I think we were just looking up Filipino restaurants in area . Even harder to find on gps. The reason being is we didn't know it was in a golf shop . Food was great unique if you just want something different . Would I eat it again yes read more

Egg Karne - Spam fries and Ube burger - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Herndon, Virginia

Solidly tasty stuff from what's basically a tiny lunch counter in the cafeteria-style dining room of the golf club. I found the insanely crunchy fried chicken fingers [which are too crunchy to actually eat with the plastic flatware available] a little overdone and the delicious but squashy waffle a little underdone, however, despite the excellent flavour. read more

I have to admit it's kinda weird to go to a golf place just to eat and not play golf - but I do it! Egg Karne serves up Filipino breakfast. I have have the longonisa sandwich for breakfast and it's great! I have also had the pork belly rice bowl with added longanisa for lunch and it was also delicious! The staff is really nice and they make all of the food to order! read more

This hidden gem is reason enough to have the yelp app ready to go whenever you are visiting a new place! We found this spot hidden inside a golf course clubhouse and could not be happier we did! The unique offerings were not only a hangover cure but an absolute delight to eat! My wife and I devoured everything and couldn't stop thinking about this place for the rest of our trip! Worth the stop! read more

Beat hidden gem in the area for breakfast! Seriously the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had in my life. Hard to find good Filipino food but this one takes the cake! I had a longanisa sausage sandwich...bro it was fire on fire on whatever tops that. Sweet and savory and beyond delishhhhh! Stop in and check them out! read more

What a great meal!!! The silog bowls are filling and delicious. The ube waffle were fluffy and tasty- makes me want to buy a puffle maker! The fried chicken was season well and moist. Service was very friendly. read more

This place is a must try if you are looking for great Filipino food. The location may seem suspect at first because it's located on a golf course so upon entry it's not the fanciest place but hopefully you are there for the food! Upon entry, the aromas hit you right away... the pork adobo, spam, garlic rice. Everything on the menu sounds good and taste even better. We couldn't decide on a single item so we decided to get a little bit of everything include the Ube Waffle, Lumpia, Pork Belly Adobo over Garlic Rice with Lumpia, and french fries dressed with pork belly. Everything only took a few minutes and as we found out was certainly worth going out of our way for. The waffle was warm, soft and fluffy and accompanied by fruit and a sweet syrup. The pork belly was a good balance crispy and soft. The garlic rice was tasty. And the lumpia was cooked perfectly. Highly recommend everyone try at least one. I'll be back for sure. read more

Continental breakfast, overcooked eggs, hard home fries with no seasoning. I've seen better even at IHOP. Adobo Fries was mediocre, fries soggy, cheese was hard. Garlic Fried Rice was laughable. Uncle Ben with some butter and garlic powder. The egg roll appetizers were dry and poor quality. The only thing that was decent was the cafeteria cheeseburger, or at least that's what my kids said. Never coming back here. read more

Good breakfast Sammie's. But if u know lumpia at all this is a huge fail. Mushed up - no texture. Nasty. I was born in the Philippines and my wife is Filipino too. Silos was good but too salty. Ube pretty good too. If they took time to make proper lumpia and even breakfast lumpia it would be great. They make most their own sausage and it's awesome. Just needs some fine tuning read more

Egg Karne's location is quite odd and so, I can confidently say that this place is definitely a hidden gem. The food was absolutely a scrumptious delight as the longanisa in the Silog bowls are as flavorful as I can remember when I was still in the Philippines. They're very creative as well especially when I got to try their fresh take on my favorite comfort dish arroz caldo, which they formed in fried balls. Honestly, I was afraid it would be really dry but it was definitely moist and the sweet kick of ginger lingered with every bite. The purple yam could be a little bit more flavorful as it was a bland without the purple yam/ube sauce. However, I appreciate the fun idea of the dish itself. I truly recommend trying this place out but if you are looking for a place to satisfy your Filipino food cravings, this might not be it, but it's definitely worth a try! read more

It's a great hole in a wall Filipino brunch place. It's very underrated because it's inside a golf course club house. I checked it out but the inside has a very charming dining experience with sports bar like TVs set up and a grill in front of the register. I got the longanisa, with generous garlic fries rice, lumpia Shanghai and an over easy egg on top drizzled in a sweet sauce. It was absolutely delicious. read more

The menu selection is amazing and ended up ordering sisig for brunch. The meal was good, but unable to confirm if it was the best sisig as that was my first time trying this dish. My son ordered the Ube waffles and loved it. However, giving this establishment two stars as customer service was not great. The lady behind the cash register and taking our order was rude and have zero customer service skills. The young man serving our coffee threw cream and sugar packets onto the table. Perhaps this is the reason the restaurant was empty. Amazing food and good customer service are two important elements to keep the customers coming back for more. Based on the terrible customer service, this was my first and last dining experience at Egg Karne. read more

My hubby and I tried this place after a co worker suggested the great Filipino fusion food here. We ordered the Ube Waffles along with fried chicken and eggs. The Ube Waffle was phenomenal. The Ube jam on top of the Waffle completed the whole Ube Waffle. The chicken was fried to perfection and was a perfect balance to the sweet soft waffle. We will definitely comeback for our Ube fix. This place truly is a diamond in the ruff in Northern VA. read more

Unique, good for breakfast, hard to find The sandwiches are yummy and exactly what you want in the morning or when you are really hungry. They aren't like super filling just satisfying. The place is clean and have a nice vibe. The tang was not good, but the waffle and the sandwiches have all been great. They are very good at helping not get pork in the sandwich if you like. A good spot to become a regular, not exactly worth going out your way tho. read more

This place is hidden at the Herndon Golf course. Like a lot of other reviewers I thought I followed my maps directions wrong. The atmosphere is basic cafe-esque but has a view of the golf course which is nice. The food was delicious and just what I needed for a greasy fix. As a Filipina, i can say this is definitely more of a fast food vibe. My favourite was the longsilog, which happens to be my favourite breakfast dish so I was pleasantly impressed. read more

On Yelp, 3 stars apparently means A-OK, so this is what Egg Karne is: A-OK. I ate Lumpia Beef Egg Rolls and Long Silog, so that's all I'll be giving my opinions about foodwise. Egg rolls were decent, nothing spectacular. Sauce seemed like a bottled sauce, which is perfectly fine. Egg rolls were a little soggy when I ate them, but I ordered it to go and they were wrapped in foil so, blame that on my 1 hour lunch window. The Silog was good (silog is, to my understanding, some sort of bbq'd meat on top of garlic rice with a fried egg; typically a breakfast food). Rice was a little mushier than I'd like, and the egg still had a little bit of runny uncooked white on top, but for the most part I thought it was fine. I'm starting to realize that preferences that I have are just... preferences. I've had the most delicious Tocilog experiences at Manila Oriental in Springfield, and that being the first and only place I've ever eaten it at is my only reference for Silogs. I'm not Filipino. I didn't grow up in the proprietor's home eating the rice his mother made. Maybe that's the way they prefer it. Or I don't know, maybe the rice was just a little mushy today, who knows. All that being besides the point, the flavors were very good. Two things that can use some work: time to table, and price. I feel that with both of these things, more tenure in the restaurant world will help to resolve them. Growing pains in the restaurant industry involve learning how to price your food well and how to be more efficient in not making customers wait too long for food. They'll learn, they've got good food and what seems like a really polite and friendly proprietor on premises. My coworker and I were the only ones there, and we waited quite a bit for the food, which was order-received, cooked, packaged and delivered by the sweetest lady in the universe. It honestly is a little difficult to shell out $15+ for what is (to me) such a small quantity of food. The Silog bowl was $8.02, the tocilog in Springfield is about 2.5x more in quantity and costs a shade under $6. The Eggrolls were $6.22. It's not worth it, you're better off buying another entree item. But again, it's a new business, and if they want to survive they'll figure it out. I'm willing to come back on occasion and spend the new business tax to help a place like this move up and along. They've got great potential. read more

Moving to Herndon, we were surprised to find a place so close that serves Filipino breakfast. We ordered the Longanisa Silog and Ube Waffle. The Longanisa was sweeter in used to and it was chopped up not whole sausage. Still delicious. The Ube Waffle has an Ube butter that blended in with the purple color of the waffle. After we stumbled upon it, it was money. Overall a great find! read more

Egg Karne - Longanisa Silog Breakfast Bowl and Ube Waffle- Purple Yam, sweet and nutty - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Herndon, Virginia

I was a bit underwhelmed by Egg Karne. Given the high ratings of reviews, I think a lot of the hype comes from the very affordable pricing as well as the "unique" menu items such as ube waffles, breakfast sandwiches, and abundance of meat options (Longanisa, Chicken Sausage, etc.). Located on a public golf course (a bit unexpected) it's a pretty modern/casual spot for lunch, and they do make everything on the spot, which I appreciated. I paid about 7 dollars for a nice plate of eggs, chicken sausage and home fries, but nothing was out of the ordinary about the dish. My friend enjoyed her waffle (it kind of just tasted like a waffle...but it was purple), but again, the food wasn't anything that I have not eaten before. Don't really think I'll go back for any reason, except to maybe try more the lunch offerings rather than breakfast. read more

I am so glad I found this place! I've lived in Herndon for more that 20 years and I don't golf or know anyone who does- so I never felt welcome to go to the golf course. Well, things have changed. This location is perfect, non-golfers welcomed! I love that I can go drop off my son at his class at te community center, and cross the street to get me some Egg Karne. First time here I got the Longanisa Sausage sandwich on brioche. It was delicious! The egg is over easy, the sauce is spicy and sweet at the same time, the bun perfect for this sandwich. My son got the chicken tenders and he enjoyed them too. I love that they serve their food in material that creates minimal waste. The place is cool, the setting/view is really nice, the people super friendly. About time for Herndon to get a cool spot like this one! read more

Egg Karne - Longanisa Sausage, Egg and Cheese Sandwich on Brioche. Mmmmm.... - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Herndon, Virginia

Filipino food is quite hard to come by in NoVa so I was so pleased to have heard of this wonderful cafe. Its located at a golf course so already the lighting and ambience is bright, airy, green. The decor is modern, sleek and simple. As a Filipino, I do have certain expectations of Filipino foods and Egg karne did not disappoint. Me and my friends got an assortment of foods to share: Pork belly adobo fries - prob a take on carne Asada fries but with Filipino style marinated pork Longanisa garlic fried rice and egg - Filipino style chorizo rice plate. So much nostalgia in this dish. Ube waffle and fried chicken - really great texture on the waffle. Wanted more ube flavor as it was quite subtle but it was a great combo with the chicken. Arroz caldo rice balls - like a pinoy version of arancini. Filipino style rice porridge (congee), balled and fried. Lovely spin on a classic, homey dish. Spam fries - served in tin. Loved them. Prob would have liked them more without the batter as I do love spam... but nice with the sauce it was served with As a bonus we were give some pancit on the house! It tastes just like my mums! It was delightful and delicious! Looking forward to going back and trying other food. read more

Looooove this spot! Got the pork belly adobo fries and longanisa bowl. It really is comfort food!! Love in every bite. The lumpia that comes with the bowl is a great touch. I've had a lot of lumpia in my life, and this met my standards. Their fries are so good. The adobo pork belly fries are an interesting fusion item! One of the most Filipino things about this place is the amazing portions! They do not skimp at all. I took half home as leftovers for my parents to try, and they also gave the food their seal of approval. I'll definitely be back! read more

The place is connected with the golf course so I was a little bit confused when trying to find the place. I got the silog bowl with that comes with garlic rice, lumpia, a fried egg and a choice of meat. I went with pork belly. I thought the food was pretty decent, but I've had better garlic rice before. But overall it's decent. I would definitely come back if I'm in that area again, and I would want to try their other menu options read more

Sunday post church quick brunch bite - Egg Carne has it down pat. For the non-traditional but delicious breakfast run after a long night out - Egg Carne fits the bill. When hunger pangs hit late in the morning and you want to feel whole again, Egg Carne will save you. Whenever I come to Reston, this is the place I crave if I want something really good for the stomach, wallet, and the soul. It has the traditional breakfast sandwiches but what really shines are the Filipino fusion food items. My go-to is the Longanisa Sausage breakfast sandwich but if you're lucky enough to get there for the arroz caldo balls, do yourself a solid and order. It's worth it. read more

Unfortunately my order of lonsilog tasted like the longanisa was left out too long before cooking. The siningag lacked the garlic flavor. The egg was cooked perfectly. I accidentally found this place on yelp and omg it was amazing. It have such a nice view to look at golf court. At first glance i was a little skeptical but good thing i didn't walk away the food was amazing. Plus the front cashier guy was super friendly he was india but he know about Filipino food !! We had the BBQ chicken on a stick with garlic rice yummy yummy, fried spam was super cute presentation in the can but a little bit too much breading but good, the food can be a bit warmer but it was flavorful. The Silog Breakfast bowl with loganisa- sweet sausage was yummy with sunny side up egg. My fav was the Ube Waffle. SO pretty and Purple. Super yummy no syrup needed. Would come back again read more

How have I not reviewed this place?!? This is an amazing "hole in the wall" (it's actually a really big, lovely, well lit space) sandwich shop. Coming from a food desert, I tend to be more easily impressed, but egg karne is sooooo legit. All of their sandwiches are great. The pork belly Adobe? Mouth melting goodness. Longonisa?! Sweet and so good!! Also all the eggs are local? Or something special like that. More importantly they are the perfect consistency! Just runny enough to soak into your brioche bun. Even the extras like spam fries and chicken long rice balls are tasty! Plus the service is really good. I particularly like how many windows there are so it's super bright inside. You can watch all the people on the driving range. Oh yeah, if some how you got this far in the review and didn't already know, it's located on a golf course. Unique. Me likey. read more

Stopped in here on our way outta town after people were raving about it. We got the longanisa and the chorizo sausages sandwiches. I liked the chorizo a little more. The sauce was pretty sweet, so that definitely through me out.. Not that it's bad, but I might try it without it next time. The staff was quick, but we were the only ones there. One huge set back was the coffee. It's cool they use local roasters, but it was pretty horrible. I'd love to see them expand into a full coffee/breakfast shop and offer something besides watered down drip coffee. All in all, go for the sandwiches, get coffee somewhere else. read more

We really wanted this to be a hit but had to wait 45 minutes because they ran out of eggs on a Saturday morning. I really like how Filipino food is becoming more trendy and this concept is great! They turn your favorite Filipino dishes into a delicious American fusion. So if you're looking for something more traditional this may not fit your taste however it holds the roots from the motherland. I came here for a quick to go brunch with my friend who's also Filipino which he has been dying to try this since it opened. It's located in the golf course and has a lot of parking which is great. It's mainly oriented around breakfast and lunch and they offer a pretty small selection of different breakfast sandwiches and burgers. Unfortunately when I went they had run out of their longanisa sandwiches and didn't have the adobo porkbelly either so we had to resort to the basics bacon egg and cheese sandwich and wagyu burger. Both were really delicious, they use a different kind of bun which I really enjoyed as well as their different sauces which had the base of the banana ketchup (soooo good!!) we also had ordered the sides of spam fries which are basically fried spam cut into fries. I'm a huge spam fan so I enjoyed that with a side of their aioli to dip with (it doesn't come with it so you should ask for it on the side) we also ordered the arroz caldo fried balls and for those who aren't Filipino, arroz caldo is a rice porridge soup similar to congee. The fried arroz caldo were basically fried balls of the porridge and were soooo tasty, I def think they're worth a try!! With the crunchy breading the softness of the instead reminded me of tator totes with a lot of flavor and pieces of chicken. We also got a side of chicken tenders because the sandwiches are a little small, might be filling to some people's appetite but I could def eat more. The chicken tenders were not anything special but still really juicy and not dry. The breading could be a bit more crunchy but I'm not complaining. I think I can see myself coming more often, it is a little far from where I live but I personally enjoy it enough to go out of my way here and there. I plan on returning soon to try the longanisa sandwich and adobo porkbelly as well! If you're ever in Herndon, you should give this place a try. The sides and entree options are really good plus they don't leave you feeling super full or bloated! read more

My friend and I tried out this Filipino brunch spot and it was SO good! We split the silog breakfast bowl and the ube waffle w chicken. The we got the longanisa sausage and adobo pork belly as our meats in the silog breakfast bowl. The longanisa was really the star of the dish. I'd go back just for the longanisa. The lumpia that you get with the silog is about 3 inches long, much shorter than the lumpia's you would get if you ordered the side of lumpia's (I saw what other people got). Oh, and the garlic fried rice - that is something special! Very great flavor. The ube waffle was yummy! Something to note is that the ube flavor wasn't strong, in fact if it wasn't purple I don't think you'd know it was made of ube. I'm still giving this place a 5 because I would go again and get the same 2 dishes! read more

I can't even review the food because I haven't had it. This is specifically for their customer service. I phoned in an order and the girl who took my order did a terrible job of it. I ordered 2 adobo breakfast sandwiches, a bacon egg sandwich, fries, home fries and lumpia. Nowhere in this conversation did I say "double" anything. Went to the counter to pay and was curious why it was more than I anticipated. I asked and they said I asked for "double" pork so charged me an additional $7 bringing my total for each sandwich to $10. I wasn't happy but said fine. I left and I knew I needed to check my order because they seem unorganized and sure enough they forgot my bacon sandwich. 30 minutes later I got the bacon sandwich and then they tell me they actually didn't charge me for it. I paid and quickly left. No matter how good this place may be the customer service is terrible. No apologies if anything they were so busy looking at receipts to make sure they charged me Esther than just comp a $6 sandwich. Update 8/30/2020: almost immediately reading my post above, the owner reached out to me. Considering how many positive reviews he clearly has, he could of just ignored mine but took the time to contact me in hopes of making it right. This is a stellar response from a business owner. I'm upping the review to 3.5 stars until I see a difference in the customer service. We did enjoy the food and hope the staff is trained better next time. read more
