This place is a must try if you are looking for great Filipino food. The location may seem suspect at first because it's located on a golf course so upon entry it's not the fanciest place but hopefully you are there for the food! Upon entry, the aromas hit you right away... the pork adobo, spam, garlic rice. Everything on the menu sounds good and taste even better. We couldn't decide on a single item so we decided to get a little bit of everything include the Ube Waffle, Lumpia, Pork Belly Adobo over Garlic Rice with Lumpia, and french fries dressed with pork belly. Everything only took a few minutes and as we found out was certainly worth going out of our way for. The waffle was warm, soft and fluffy and accompanied by fruit and a sweet syrup. Continental breakfast, overcooked eggs, hard home fries with no seasoning. I've seen better even at IHOP. Adobo Fries was mediocre, fries soggy, cheese was hard. Garlic Fried Rice was laughable. Egg Karne's location is quite odd and so, I can confidently say that this place is definitely a hidden gem. The food was absolutely a scrumptious delight as the longanisa in the Silog bowls are as flavorful as I can remember when I was still in the Philippines. They're very creative as well especially when I got to try their fresh take on my favorite comfort dish arroz caldo, which they formed in fried balls. Honestly, I was afraid it would be really dry but it was definitely moist and the sweet kick of ginger lingered with every bite. The purple yam could be a little bit more flavorful as it was a bland without the purple yam/ube sauce. However, I appreciate the fun idea of the dish itself. I truly recommend trying this place out but if you are looking for a place to satisfy your Filipino food cravings, this might not be it, but it's definitely worth a try! read more

The menu selection is amazing and ended up ordering sisig for brunch. The meal was good, but unable to confirm if it was the best sisig as that was my first time trying this dish. My son ordered the Ube waffles and loved it. However, giving this establishment two stars as customer service was not great. The lady behind the cash register and taking our order was rude and have zero customer service skills. The young man serving our coffee threw cream and sugar packets onto the table. Perhaps this is the reason the restaurant was empty. Amazing food and good customer service are two important elements to keep the customers coming back for more. It's a great hole in a wall Filipino brunch place. It's very underrated because it's inside a golf course club house. I checked it out but the inside has a very charming dining experience with sports bar like TVs set up and a grill in front of the register. Unique, good for breakfast, hard to find The sandwiches are yummy and exactly what you want in the morning or when you are really hungry. They aren't like super filling just satisfying. On Yelp, 3 stars apparently means A-OK, so this is what Egg Karne is: A-OK. I ate Lumpia Beef Egg Rolls and Long Silog, so that's all I'll be giving my opinions about foodwise. Egg rolls were decent, nothing spectacular. Sauce seemed like a bottled sauce, which is perfectly fine. Egg rolls were a little soggy when I ate them, but I ordered it to go and they were wrapped in foil so, blame that on my 1 hour lunch window. The Silog was good (silog is, to my understanding, some sort of bbq'd meat on top of garlic rice with a fried egg; typically a breakfast food). Rice was a little mushier than I'd like, and the egg still had a little bit of runny uncooked white on top, but for the most part I thought it was fine. I'm starting to realize that preferences that I have are just... preferences. I've had the most delicious Tocilog experiences at Manila Oriental in Springfield, and that being the first and only place I've ever eaten it at is my only reference for Silogs. I'm not Filipino. I didn't grow up in the proprietor's home eating the rice his mother made. Maybe that's the way they prefer it. Or I don't know, maybe the rice was just a little mushy today, who knows. All that being besides the point, the flavors were very good. Two things that can use some work: time to table, and price. I feel that with both of these things, more tenure in the restaurant world will help to resolve them. Growing pains in the restaurant industry involve learning how to price your food well and how to be more efficient in not making customers wait too long for food. They'll learn, they've got good food and what seems like a really polite and friendly proprietor on premises. My coworker and I were the only ones there, and we waited quite a bit for the food, which was order-received, cooked, packaged and delivered by the sweetest lady in the universe. It honestly is a little difficult to shell out $15+ for what is (to me) such a small quantity of food. The Silog bowl was $8.02, the tocilog in Springfield is about 2.5x more in quantity and costs a shade under $6. The Eggrolls were $6.22. It's not worth it, you're better off buying another entree item. But again, it's a new business, and if they want to survive they'll figure it out. I'm willing to come back on occasion and spend the new business tax to help a place like this move up and along. They've got great potential. read more

The atmosphere is basic cafe-esque but has a view of the golf course which is nice. The food was delicious and just what I needed for a greasy fix. Moving to Herndon, we were surprised to find a place so close that serves Filipino breakfast. We ordered the Longanisa Silog and Ube Waffle. The Longanisa was sweeter in used to and it was chopped up not whole sausage. Still delicious. The Ube Waffle has an Ube butter that blended in with the purple color of the waffle. Given the high ratings of reviews, I think a lot of the hype comes from the very affordable pricing as well as the "unique" menu items such as ube waffles, breakfast sandwiches, and abundance of meat options (Longanisa, Chicken Sausage, etc.). Located on a public golf course (a bit unexpected) it's a pretty modern/casual spot for lunch, and they do make everything on the spot, which I appreciated. I paid about 7 dollars for a nice plate of eggs, chicken sausage and home fries, but nothing was out of the ordinary about the dish. My friend enjoyed her waffle (it kind of just tasted like a waffle...but it was purple), but again, the food wasn't anything that I have not eaten before. Don't really think I'll go back for any reason, except to maybe try more the lunch offerings rather than breakfast. read more

I am so glad I found this place! I've lived in Herndon for more that 20 years and I don't golf or know anyone who does- so I never felt welcome to go to the golf course. Well, things have changed. This location is perfect, non-golfers welcomed! I love that I can go drop off my son at his class at te community center, and cross the street to get me some Egg Karne. First time here I got the Longanisa Sausage sandwich on brioche. It was delicious! The egg is over easy, the sauce is spicy and sweet at the same time, the bun perfect for this sandwich. My son got the chicken tenders and he enjoyed them too. I love that they serve their food in material that creates minimal waste. So much nostalgia in this dish. Ube waffle and fried chicken - really great texture on the waffle. Wanted more ube flavor as it was quite subtle but it was a great combo with the chicken. Arroz caldo rice balls - like a pinoy version of arancini. Filipino style rice porridge (congee), balled and fried. Lovely spin on a classic, homey dish. Spam fries - served in tin. Loved them. Looooove this spot! Got the pork belly adobo fries and longanisa bowl. It really is comfort food!! Love in every bite. The lumpia that comes with the bowl is a great touch. I've had a lot of lumpia in my life, and this met my standards. Their fries are so good. The adobo pork belly fries are an interesting fusion item! Probably the best Filipino fusion breakfast I've had in the East Coast since I've here. Staff are very friendly, courteous and professional. Menu is very simple and easy to read. Prices are just right and food proportions are adequate enough to fill your hungry belly. I would recommend chicken and ube waffle. It leaves you wanting more after one bite. How have I not reviewed this place?!? This is an amazing "hole in the wall" (it's actually a really big, lovely, well lit space) sandwich shop. Coming from a food desert, I tend to be more easily impressed, but egg karne is sooooo legit. All of their sandwiches are great. The pork belly Adobe? Mouth melting goodness. Longonisa?! Sweet and so good!! Also all the eggs are local? Or something special like that. More importantly they are the perfect consistency! Just runny enough to soak into your brioche bun. Even the extras like spam fries and chicken long rice balls are tasty! Plus the service is really good. I particularly like how many windows there are so it's super bright inside. My favorite breakfast spot in the area. Head into the pro shop and you'll find a hidden gem of a restaurant to your right. The Chorizo Egg & Cheese sandwich is excellent. They do it with this incredible sauce and a perfectly cooked runny egg; honestly, one of the best egg sandwiches I've ever had. I hesitate to even write this review lest the secret get out about this place, but the staff is so kind and friendly, they deserve more business. I've taken friends and family here (with kids in tow) and they loved the waffles and lumpia (the spicy ones pack just the right amount of punch). The sauce was pretty sweet, so that definitely through me out.. Not that it's bad, but I might try it without it next time. The staff was quick, but we were the only ones there. One huge set back was the coffee. It's cool they use local roasters, but it was pretty horrible. I really like how Filipino food is becoming more trendy and this concept is great! They turn your favorite Filipino dishes into a delicious American fusion. So if you're looking for something more traditional this may not fit your taste however it holds the roots from the motherland. I came here for a quick to go brunch with my friend who's also Filipino which he has been dying to try this since it opened. It's located in the golf course and has a lot of parking which is great. It's mainly oriented around breakfast and lunch and they offer a pretty small selection of different breakfast sandwiches and burgers. Unfortunately when I went they had run out of their longanisa sandwiches and didn't have the adobo porkbelly either so we had to resort to the basics bacon egg and cheese sandwich and wagyu burger. Both were really delicious, they use a different kind of bun which I really enjoyed as well as their different sauces which had the base of the banana ketchup (soooo good!!) we also had ordered the sides of spam fries which are basically fried spam cut into fries. I'm a huge spam fan so I enjoyed that with a side of their aioli to dip with (it doesn't come with it so you should ask for it on the side) we also ordered the arroz caldo fried balls and for those who aren't Filipino, arroz caldo is a rice porridge soup similar to congee. The fried arroz caldo were basically fried balls of the porridge and were soooo tasty, I def think they're worth a try!! With the crunchy breading the softness of the instead reminded me of tator totes with a lot of flavor and pieces of chicken. We also got a side of chicken tenders because the sandwiches are a little small, might be filling to some people's appetite but I could def eat more. The chicken tenders were not anything special but still really juicy and not dry. The breading could be a bit more crunchy but I'm not complaining. I think I can see myself coming more often, it is a little far from where I live but I personally enjoy it enough to go out of my way here and there. I plan on returning soon to try the longanisa sandwich and adobo porkbelly as well! If you're ever in Herndon, you should give this place a try. Cute little place located in the middle of a golf course. They had a bunch of different breakfast options, some more American, some more Filipino - such as the longanisa, lechon or ube options. Food was decent although a tad bland (unless you got anything that had some type of sausage in it). We ordered the lumpia, arroz caldo balls, pork belly fries and a few of their breakfast sandwiches. My friend and I tried out this Filipino brunch spot and it was SO good! We split the silog breakfast bowl and the ube waffle w chicken. The we got the longanisa sausage and adobo pork belly as our meats in the silog breakfast bowl. The longanisa was really the star of the dish. I'd go back just for the longanisa. The lumpia that you get with the silog is about 3 inches long, much shorter than the lumpia's you would get if you ordered the side of lumpia's (I saw what other people got). Oh, and the garlic fried rice - that is something special! Very great flavor. The ube waffle was yummy! Something to note is that the ube flavor wasn't strong, in fact if it wasn't purple I don't think you'd know it was made of ube. I can't even review the food because I haven't had it. This is specifically for their customer service. I phoned in an order and the girl who took my order did a terrible job of it. I ordered 2 adobo breakfast sandwiches, a bacon egg sandwich, fries, home fries and lumpia. Nowhere in this conversation did I say "double" anything. Went to the counter to pay and was curious why it was more than I anticipated. I asked and they said I asked for "double" pork so charged me an additional $7 bringing my total for each sandwich to $10. I wasn't happy but said fine. I left and I knew I needed to check my order because they seem unorganized and sure enough they forgot my bacon sandwich. 30 minutes later I got the bacon sandwich and then they tell me they actually didn't charge me for it. I paid and quickly left. No matter how good this place may be the customer service is terrible. No apologies if anything they were so busy looking at receipts to make sure they charged me Esther than just comp a $6 sandwich. Update 8/30/2020: almost immediately reading my post above, the owner reached out to me. Considering how many positive reviews he clearly has, he could of just ignored mine but took the time to contact me in hopes of making it right. This is a stellar response from a business owner. I'm upping the review to 3.5 stars until I see a difference in the customer service. We did enjoy the food and hope the staff is trained better next time. read more
