Loved it! The people working were all so friendly right when we walked in there was a friendly greeting and they hurried and brought us a high chair for the baby. We ordered quickly and the food arrived quickly, and even came with miso soup, which we didn't expect! We had a salmon poke bowl, spicy salmon roll, and a spicy seafood ramen. The poke bowl was awesome. The vinaigrette on the spring mix was so good - It was perfect with all of the items in the bowl. I would totally come back just for the poke bowl. The spicy salmon roll was great! Probably the best spicy salmon roll that I've had. I loved that it was actually spicy. The spicy seafood ramen was delicious. It had just enough spice and really good flavor. It came with a lot of different seafood and didn't have the gross fishy taste that some seafood soups have. The flavors of everything were great and the portions were large. Hardly ever do my husband and I both say that we were impressed and think we'd come back. This sushi place is my all time favorite. It's small, it's fresh, and they have black rice! To me looks purple but not the point. It's so great and the customer service is fantastic. Love this little hole in the wall. Hands down my favorite sushi. Everything is great. Rolls are quality, done right. Sashimi is fresh and always high quality. The kids love their fried rice. My favorite appetizer is the Jalapeño Poppers (yeah, I know, it's a sushi place, but TRUST ME. Get them.). Gyoza is also solid. If you're looking for a good amount of food for the price, their Bento boxes are perfect. All in all, you can't go wrong with Echo. read more

This place should not be offering Ramen. I've had Ramen many times in my life and the soup that they have here is not it. I ordered the Spicy Miso, my son had the seafood ramen, and my wife and daughter each had the miso ramen. All bowls were very disappointing. They were flavorless, the miso ramen didn't have pork or any type of meat, and they were all overpriced given that the quality was so bad. I left with a bad feeling that I was taken advantage of because the quality was so poor. The service wasn't great either, I couldn't get a refill of water the whole time. It was also annoying they didn't have kid portions of anything. I really wanted to like this place since there aren't other ramen options close by. Maybe the sushi is good here but I am definitely not going to risk it because the ramen was so horrible. This place should be ashamed, we will not be back. We were on our way to the airport for our journey home when we realized a quick lunch detour was in order! We stopped here on a Tuesday around 12pm. Seated immediately. Their menu is great! Lots of sushi options, bento boxes, ramen and udon. What stood out was their seafood ramen!! You don't always see seafood ramen on a menu! So obviously, I had to try! Service was a little strange. We asked the server how the pork for the bento box was prepared and he stated he wasn't sure and just stood there. Didn't offer to find out. Then I asked him if why the Baked Salmon roll only had scallops listed in the description, and if it contained salmon and again he just shrugged and said he didn't know. We had to ask him both times to find out for us, as we genuinely were interested in the items but wanted to know how they were served! Then when I asked for the to-go box for my ramen, he brought the check but no box. By this time we had to leave to catch our flight so we didn't bother wait and ask for the to-go box again. Lousy service. Young kid who hasn't been trained in customer service yet. As for the food, my bf got a bento box with the bbq pork I believe. The pork was dry. Wouldn't recommend. The rest of the items were good! I enjoyed my seafood ramen! It was pretty spicy and made my lips burn, so if you're not one for spice, avoid this! I thought the seafood assortment in it was great! Huge mussels, clams and squid! Great! The bowl was probably the biggest ramen bowl I've ever seen! Huge!! And cheap! $11!! Overall, we enjoyed this sushi restaurant, but were let down by the service. This place is great. I ordered the Tower, salmon sashimi, miso soup, and green tea Mochi. I've been to a lot of sushi restaurants and this place is by far my favorite in Arizona. I haven't been to many restaurants in the Phoenix area, but it knocks anything in Tucson out of the park. The salmon sashimi in particular was amazing. Thick, fresh pieces that honestly was comparable to the much more expensive fish I got in Seattle (our bill there was $200 for two people). They aren't kidding around with the tower. I was expecting larger pieces of sushi, but what I got was one large piece, about the size of a cake for two. It was tasty, the cake shape made it way easier to eat than traditional sushi. The black rice was unique and added depth and flavor, I also feel like it does a better job of being sticky, but not soggy, than white rice does. A small thing I appreciated was that the mochi ice cream wasn't too frozen to eat. Way too many places I've been to have served me it while it was too frozen, and I end up having to wait a couple minutes for it to thaw enough for me to even stick my fork in it. It's a bit of a drive from Phoenix but well worth it if you've got the time! read more

My husband and I moved to Phoenix from San Diego in May. We have tried countless sushi restaurants in hopes of finding fish that doesn't taste like it's a month old, and Echo has consistently exceeded our expectations. We live super close so it's literally a 5 minute drive and beats out most in Phoenix. The rolls are always super fresh, and we have no problem paying the price for quality sushi. My 3 star rating is due to their prices. I love their food, but probably won't go back. The prices from less than a year ago have gone up 25% in rolls and the unagi at $12.95 for 2 pieces is outrageous compared to every other place in Phoenix. All of their nigiri prices were up 25% or more. I know this is nothing for West coast people and maybe that is part of the reason, but they lost our business. Great sushi at a great price! While Echo does not offer happy hour specials, the prices per roll was VERY reasonable (think $8 to $14). The atmosphere and wait staff was very nice. I will definitely be coming back and trying out some of the other unique rolls! The Las Vegas and the classic spicy tuna rolls were instant winners. read more

The service was nice and I feel bad leaving one star but the sushi was so awful. I've never had sushi with black rice instead of the usual white sticky rice but the flavor is very different. The main problem I had was the wasabi. It had absolutely no taste and as I'm adding it to my food trying to cover the taste of the black rice it did nothing. So I tried it alone and was shocked that it had literally no taste to it. It wasn't spicy or salty or anything. It was a green paste but it wasn't wasabi. Not happy at all. Everything was double knitted before I got there. Get home and it was burnt. On top of he tipped himself without me consenting. The environment is awesome in this small sushi restaurant. We LOVED the music. We were greeted by all who work there when we walk in- Which made us feel valued and welcomed right away. We ordered the crunchy California roll and the Las Vegas roll.. both were absolutely fresh and delicious. Our edamame came out with the complementary miso soup again- delicious. I was eager to try Echo Sushi after reading the great reviews & it's the closet sushi spot to where I live. I recently moved to the area and have been searching for great sushi, so I definitely had high hopes. First the good...service is great & very friendly. I also like the small atmosphere. The food was a dissapointment. I started with a seaweed salad. The salad was a small portion of very dark & soggy seaweed. It tasted as though it had been frozen, thawed, & left to sit in its own liquid. Yes, it's "just seaweed," but I've had seaweed salads that were vibrant green & beautifully plated with other fresh vegetables. I also had the chirashi bowl & a vegetable roll. The bowl was not worth the $22. It was a bowl that was filled with mostly rice. The very small cuts of fish did not taste fresh. Also comprising the bowl were "krab" sticks & egg, which are definitely not fresh & raw fish. The vegetable roll was small (yes, that seemed to be a theme) and really nothing special. It looked and tasted like something I could get at a grocery store. Because it is a locally owned restaurant and the service was really good, I'll try Echo Sushi again before I make up my mind. Hopefully next time will be a more positive experience. read more

I finally went to echo sushi after hearing great things about it for awhile. What a mistake....waiting so long to try it. I made up for lost time and ate there four times in two weeks. The spicy seafood ramen has been my favorite dish so far (had it twice). It has great flavor, lots of seafood, and the right amount of spice for me. The sushi is very good. They use black rice, I had never had that before and it not seem to be as sticky as white rice. The last item I tried was the fried rice. Again this was made with black rice. It was delicious. No complaint at all Menu is completely over priced. $11 Philly roll, $7 salmon roll, $8 spicy tuna, $7 tuna nigiri Every new sushi place thinks they can charge Scottsdale prices. Cucumber salad was large and big enough for 2 Average wait time for a few easy rolls Longer than average for the fried Cali 2 wait staff meant service was attentive with only 8 people here It's not a bad place but it's overpriced and underwhelming for the price. Haven't lived in Phoenix long and I've been to 5 sushi places. This being the 6th. We went for a team lunch so there were 14 people there(took up majority of the seating) with various opinions and tastes. Everyone loved it including the vegan. I had one guy say it's in his top three sushi in the whole valley and he's been to lot and has lived here for some time. Big servings. Decent prices. Absolutely delicious. Good small atmosphere. Great service. Not a long wait at all, especially for how many people we had at lunch time. I got the Spicy Seafood noodle which was super tasty and had the right amount of spice. I tried a guys sushi from his bento box and it was exactly what taste buds want when craving sushi. Everyone said they will be returning. read more

This was such a good find. I can honestly say the quality of the food was really really good. I had the Dinner bento box with a side order of there spicy shrimp roll that was delicious. Service was excellent. It's a bit smaller than most but it was not over crowded at all. I live about 50 miles away and I wouldn't hesitate to drive back here for dinner.
