Had the salmon poke bowl with purple rice!! It was so delicious. Fresh, flavorful and would get again. Service was low key which is good.

I am picky when it comes to sushi. And restaurants. I absolutely love this place for the quality and selection for food and incredibly friendly service. Listen, sometimes fancy restaurants are nice. But generally they're not necessary- my hungry family just wants to eat in a comfortable, clean, safe place. Echo's food is delicious- hands down some of the best sushi I've found around the valley. And I appreciate their menu selection. Always something different to try and we have yet to find an item we haven't loved. read more

Only sushi restaurant where I would actually order nigiri since it's so fresh that it melts in your mouth. Some people do complain about their purple rice but I think it taste great and has way more nutritional value. They also have ramen and bento box for those that do not eat raw fish but you should try out their fresh sushi, you'll thank me. read more

Delicious lunch today where we had double treats. We were able to eat in the restaurant and we came at a time when we had the entire restaurant to ourselves. I had the carefree special and loved it all. It came with miso soup, salad, two rolls and four pieces of gyoza. It was a nice surprise with the rice being emperors rice! read more

Good food, good service, good location, however they are overpriced compared to most places.

This place had amazing service as well as amazing food. My friend is vegan and they had tons of vegan options for her. We started off with the garlic edamame pretty good not too much garlic which I liked. My friend got the vegetable roll and the avocado roll the sizes of the rolls were rlly nice. I got the deluxe poke bowl everything was so good and fresh and it came with a side of miso soup. The miso soup was the only thing I didn't rlly like, tasted kind of watered down but 10/10 recommend my sushi lovers to this place you will not be disappointed. read more

It's ok sushi! Great customer service and the hamachi cheek was amazing. All the food is good, but the sushi for me was ok

The lunch bento box is our favorite. Good quality local sushi place. We keep coming back!

The food is awesome. I love the wildlife they use instead of sushi rice. First time here and I will be back.

Never thought I would have one of the best Sushi in North Phoenix! This place is amazing for the food, warm ambience, reasonably priced and great customer service! Everything was wow---we had the Seafood soup( spicy and robust w flavor), sesame chicken(tender and served perfectly) and Hawaiian sushi roll( fresh and good sized). Even the way they serve water and can get large Japanese beer. This place is a Hidden gem! read more

Amazing food and great service. The food was incredibly fresh, delicious, and it came in large portions. Our server was very attentive and friendly. The black rice added a unique element to each of the dishes. We will definitely be going back to this local gem! read more

Excellent sushi. I've never had Japanese black rice. It is really good. The quality of fish here is very good but for the price I'd like to see the slices of fish a little thicker. It is even thinner than grocery store sushi. But still. The quality is way better! Be sure to ask for some fresh wasabi! It's awesome! Tell them "black rice matters" and get a discount! Very disappointed! The second I walked in I was trying to find a nice way to leave. The prices on the menu are insane. They're equal to the nicest places in town. If you're going to charge almost $12 for a spicy tuna roll it better be one hell of a tuna roll. Nobu charges that much and it is worth every penny. But, they have lots of great reviews so I figured I'd give them a shot. I found them to be mediocre at best. The miso soup had no flavor. The purple rice is disgusting. Everything is very two-dimensional. I would've been much happier sitting at the sushi bar at AJ's grocery store. I can't figure out how anyone would give this place five stars. There are literally hundreds of better sushi places for less money. I cannot think of a sushi place that I like less than Echo , maybe the prepackaged shit at Safeway. read more

Ordered takeout for the first time here tonight. Super friendly staff, order was made quickly, packed very well and so good! We tried the golden spicy tuna roll, jalapeño poppers, bulgogi entree and sesame chicken entree. Both entrees came with salad, miso soup & two gyoza. I can't wait to go back and try more!! read more

Giving 3 stars since the food is great. However, the price is extremely high for sushi. We've lived in the area for a long time, and this is only the second time we've visited Echo. From what I remember, the price was high the first time around, which is why it took so long for us to come back. Dropped a lot of $ for a family of four. There are better options for sushi, in my opinion. read more

Yowsa this place has Black Rice which was very new to me and surprisingly yummy! Another thing that Echo has is the fastest Sushi Chef's I have EVER seen. This place is deceiving, it is in a strip mall with limited seating. Any way you look at it it is worth the wait although we did call ahead for a group (my daughters birthday) and they were very accommodating. Everyone in our party LOVED the food, service and the speed. We have already returned. read more

This is my favorite place! It's located in the Tramonto Marketplace off carefree hwy. i live nearby but this place is worth driving for! It's a small hole in the wall sushi place with a couple tables & sushi bar seating. They have black rice which sounds odd but it is the most moist & flavorful rice I've ever had. Everything I've ordered has been incredibly fresh! The bento boxes are great portions & the Spicy Seafood Ramen is AMAZING. I bring all my friends from out of town here & we have never had a bad experience. Instagram.com/lifeinphoenixaz read more

My review is based upon a carry out experience. Echo has no website - when I called to ask where I could view the menu I was told to go online because people had taken pictures of the menu....okay. For obvious reasons this isn't ideal - you don't know if the menu is up to date and the picture quality isn't great. Sushi is such a popular take out item this should really be addressed. The restaurant itself is cozy so if you are in a larger group this may not be the best fit, but as a general rule, I really like small sushi spots. One thing that really threw me was the black rice, it wasn't for me. the taste and texture was slightly different than what I was accustomed to and I prefer the traditional. The sushi quality was good overall. read more

Tonight we went into have sushi...my first experience in having sushi with a black rice. No. Not my liking. And was surprised when it was delivered to the table. Unfortunately, I will not be coming back. Using black rice is not the same as using white sticky rice. The texture of the black rice is terrible and completely off-sets the entire experience. read more

80 dollars for a bowl of ramen 2 rolls and a beer?! The rolls were ok but 18.50 for a bowl of ramen and most of the noodles were stuck together. Little over priced for me il try the pho next door next time. read more

I really wanted to like this joint esp since it looks like it is independently owned. My boyfriend and I ordered the carefree roll, cherry blossom, fresh bluefish tuna roll, and spicy seafood ramen. I moved out here from the SF Bay Area and have been dying to find some good ramen places around. The ramen was on the bland side but good enough to want to stop by off the highway occasionally. The shrimp was my favorite cus it had really good texture still. So far this spicy seafood soup comes in a far second to the one at Haru Sushi, with any other place not even worth it to try. I was really disappointed that the sushi rolls were drenched with eel sauce or any other sauce it comes with. It takes away from the natural fish taste. If you scrape some of the eel sauce off you might be able to get a better taste of the rice, cucumbers, seaweed, and fish mixed inside. It was my first time having black rice and I loved that part. The tuna wrapped around the cherry blossom was dry and tough however.. read more

The quality of the food is good as we have ordered many times over the last few years. The price increases are getting to be a little much. My last to-go order for my wife and I was over $95 dollars!! What caught my attention was my CC statement. The final amount that posted including tip did not feel to be in line with how I normally tip. Too much time has passed to get a copy of the signed receipt but I am going to looking elsewhere for Sushi. read more

My fiancé and I decided to give this place a go for our traditional New Year's Eve sushi dinner. They use black rice (looks purple) in their sushi which is a bit sweeter. We ordered 4 rolls (3 pictured), some gyoza and of course had miso soup to start with. First things first, the service was really wonderful. Everyone from the server to the chef were smiling and we were greeted the moment we crossed the threshold. The small restaurant was actually about half full already but we were seated and didn't wait a minute before menus were in our hands and drink orders taken. Also I should mention our hot green tea kettle was never empty... The miso came out not long after our order was placed, followed quickly with piping hot gyoza. A great start so far. The sushi came out fast, but one roll at a time which was perfect. We hadn't finished one before the next was placed on the table. Not only did they taste great but the presentation was excellent as well. We will definitely be returning and I highly recommend this sushi restaurant to anyone that happens to visit the north valley. 5 Stars, no complaints. read more

The portions are huge, and is delicious and fresh. Love the Las Vegas rolls, and the jalapeno poppers.

The place was A-OK "plus a little" so I rounded up to four stars. They have a diverse menu including sushi/sashimi, noodle/soup dishes (udon, yakisoba), Ramen (miso or spicy seafood), fried rice, poke bowls, and entrees like chicken katsu, Korean bulgogi, spicy pork, teriyakis (chicken or salmon)..... I tried the "echo special" for lunch - $11 includes: miso soup, salad, 6 pieces of sushi and 8 pieces of California roll (the latter has never been of interest to me but I was inclined to try it and I have to say that I actually enjoyed it.) The fish tasted fresh although that slice of snapper at first seemed a bit dry upon appearance. Overall, I really enjoyed the visit - service was nice however only one server at lunchtime so be prepared to wait a little if coming between noon and 1 pm or so. Overall, prices seem on the average-to-high-side but we'll explore that more later. I liked the smaller size of this place (like maybe six or seven sushi bar seats and maybe eights table in all however it doesn't feel cramped.) The decor is clean and simple yet appealing. The parking lot is a nightmare with which I been long familiar (Lake Pleasant nearby, people hauling toys, just busy overall and oftentimes lacking courtesy.) read more
