Lived here two years and drove by this place countless times but never went in. Today after hike up Piestewa decided we would give it a try. Was mostly empty this Saturday, one amblivant waitress. Later three other came to get seated, service is slow! How's the food? Actually pretty good for Az. Chicken feet of the frozen kink reheated were four stars, house noodles was as well as Mango shaved ice five stars, not Taiwan good but good for phoenix. Wonder when and if the TSMC crowd will give it a go, the Chinese place down on Happy Valley is hopping with them, should this place.

I desperately want to give Asian Fusion a great review based on authenticity and potential awesomeness, but my first experience just doesn't get me there. If I could rate it three and a half I would. Right up front, let me say, give this place a chance. Fusion has what it takes to be great with just a few more customers. I get a good feeling walking into an Asian restaurant and seeing tables filled with folks who appear to be of Asian heritage eating with chop sticks so competently it makes me jealous. Lunch today started with that good feeling in that unpretentious eatery where I sensed being transported back to somewhere in the Far East. In the interests of full disclosure, I consider myself competent preparing, eating, and reviewing traditional Japanese cuisine. And to a lesser degree Malaysian. Chinese, Taiwanese, and Korean are not so much in my wheelhouse, but it's obvious that Asian Fusion is capable of serious authenticity in that arena. Who knew about Taiwanese beverage specialties??? A starter of steamed dumplings are always one of my tells for these places. Ours were perfect! Cooked to perfection, tasty, meaty, with a crisp vegetable component. Great sign of things to come. But, here we encounter some wrinkles in the experience. Our server was pleasant and attentive. The timing of service was off. Two tables seated after us were served before us. My wife received her plating noticeably before I was served. Little things, but always important. My wife had a plate of vegetables and rice. The veggies were fresh and perfectly presented, but could have been warmer and would have benefited from just a little more wok time. A touch more Al dente and just a bit less raw bar. Still quite tasty and satisfactory. I ordered a bowl of shrimp 'udon' soup with edamame, bean sprouts, and kamaboko (fish cakes). Looking back, I see my Japanese obsession creeping in here when I should have been trying the more traditional Chinese fare. Never mind. My bad. The chicken broth was properly hot, savory, and most excellent. Unfortunately, the kamaboko was substituted with a weird pickled/spiced egg thing that I was specifically avoiding in the other ramen bowl offerings. I tried half the egg, was not impressed, and had to stare at the other half as I finished the otherwise excellent bowl of Asian goodness. I'm sure these eggs are a delicacy and probably an upgrade if you like such things. Again, it's on me and not the cook. The shrimp were lightly breaded and separately fried before being added to the broth. They were a bit overdone and somewhat tough. Possibly the Taiwanese adaptation of a tempura shrimp. Who knows? Still, all in, the udon bowl was much better than many I've had. We finished our experience with an order of crackling shrimp dim sum that were magnificent! I'll be back giving these folks another try. This little Asian Fusion eatery has serious potential.

This is an old Chinese Restaurant that was going down in quality food for awhile. So we stopped going there. But they renovated and made a whole new menu with new dishes! And it was superb! The cafe itself is much larger and brighter with a digital monitor for menu items! We ordered the egg drop soup! I love egg drop soup. It was fantastic! I had the chicken chow mein....so tasty. And we ordered Tofu pudding with red beans on top! It was fantastic! I so give this place 5 stars all around!

Bring an appetite, because the lunch special fills the plate! Egg drop soup starts it off, then my sesame chicken with fried rice, which was substantial, included a spring roll and crab rangoon. The chicken is well prepared, crisp and juicy. Was pleased to hear Norah Jones playing on the PA system, which made for a pleasant experience. The inside is plain and simple, but the table is well appointed with whatever you need to season or spice up your dish.

The Chinese menu is really fancy! Ask for Chinese menu and use Google translate to order. The restaurant is newly renovated, and opened for three months. Instead old American Chinese food, now offer additional Taiwanese and Korean fusion dishes. ASK FOR CHINESE MENU! Great location and friendly staff.

I found this restaurant through a Facebook group and was excited to see they serve grass jelly, which is hard to find in North Phoenix. We stopped by after dinner, expecting only street food or light meals, but were pleasantly surprised to find a full menu. While it seemed pretty standard at first glance, we ordered Grass Jelly #1, Grass Jelly #3, Thai Tea, and a Chocolate Egg Waffle--and everything was fantastic! I actually prefer their grass jelly over Meet Fresh. The waitress mentioned that special items are occasionally available through LINE. We returned a couple of weeks later to explore more of their menu. This time, we tried the House Fried Rice, Ramen, Popcorn Chicken, and Tofu Pudding. The fried rice was tasty without being greasy, the ramen was okay, and the popcorn chicken was crispy. The tofu pudding, however, was a bit disappointing--not as smooth as I'd hoped. They also offer Korean Fried Chicken, which we haven't tried yet. Overall, it's a solid spot, and I'll be back to try more of the menu.

Newly opened and worth the try! Efficient service. Seating for several is available. There were a couple of takeout orders picked up while I ate.

My parents are from Taiwan so they were excited to try this restaurant since they serve many authentic Taiwanese dishes. A telling sign of a good Asian restaurant is how many Asian people are dining there. From the looks of lunch, this restaurant must be really good because it was filled with workers from the Taiwanese Semiconductor plant nearby. There is an American menu, a Chinese menu (same menu but in Chinese), and a small dim sum menu. We ordered the Kung Pao Tofu and Broccoli Shrimp lunch specials. Both dishes came out quickly and they came with Spring Roll, Cream Cheese Wonton and White/Fried Rice. We also ordered the KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) Rice Bowl, Sticky Rice, Soup Dumplings, and Siu Mai. All dishes were good, except the Broccoli Shrimp which only had a few shrimp. The KFC bowl came with big pieces of crispy chicken, fried egg and plenty of rice. The Siu Mai was tasty with a large amount of pork. The sticky rice was delicious with a good ratio of rice to meat. The soup dumplings were surprisingly good with beautiful folds and a delicious broth. What's unique about this place is that they have a variety of Taiwanese desserts and drinks including bubble waffles, boba, shaved ice and icy grass jelly. We ordered the icy grass jelly #2 with peanut, boba and red bean and it was delicious. We also ordered the Tofu Pudding with Taro Ball which was also excellent. Both were not too sweet, light and full of fun textures. My parents liked these the best and said they were authentic. This is one of those hidden gems where it's all about the food. The ambiance is simple and clean, nothing fancy. The service was all business, not friendly, but very fast and efficient. There was just one server and she was able to wait on all the tables during a busy lunch hour. Since most of the diners were from TSMC and have a limited lunch time, it is important for them to get the food out quickly. We will definitely be back to try other dishes!

But for some reason, I just haven't had a great food experience at this location and sadly will likely not go back. We have tried Z's on a few occasions. The last time was about a year ago (before most recent trip). We went with a group and two people in the group got sick afterwards. One was my husband. This followed another occasion of someone getting sick (in fact, someone else in the group said they didn't want to go there for this reason). So, after that incident, we said we weren't going back. Fast forward a year and I thought why not give it another try? The reviews seemed good recently and maybe this was a fluke. So last night, we returned for another try. They were very busy for a Monday night so they obviously don't need more customers. And the staff, though clearly overworked, is friendly and nice as usual. I ordered a larb salad (something I always get at every Thai restaurant). Unfortunately, the chicken in the salad was inedible. I kept trying to eat it because the dressing was on point, but the chicken tasted like something that someone heated up too long in the microwave. And I couldn't pick it out. So disappointing. You can see it looks bad in the images. I didn't say anything because I hate complaining at restaurants. I took it home and tried it again in case I was being sensitive but it was still bad and I threw it out. We also ordered green curry with tofu and pad Thai with pork. Both were enjoyable!! And the green curry had a nice heat kick though I added spice which they eventually brought when I asked. One note: I was not exactly sure how to eat the green curry because it was served in a small bowl place on a plate with the rice in the side. Adding the curry to the plate caused the sauce to run all around but there was not enough room in the bowl to add the rice. No big deal but just weird and messy plating experience. We didn't end up getting any alcoholic drinks. But do be aware that there must not be free refills because I was charged for two lemonades. All in all, I wish this restaurant well. Obviously people love it and keep returning. The owners/staff are very friendly and nice. I just love Thai too much to keep returning to mediocre experiences when there are other options in the area.

To be clear, I am a New Yorker and know good fast Chinese food. The ambiance was promising. It looked like I was finally going to find what I've been looking for in Phoenix for years. For whatever reason, Chinese restaurants in Arizona serve egg hockey pucks and cover it with various items and call it egg foo young. I even asked about it before I ordered it. Alas when I got home and saw what I had, I was disappointed. It's faster to make it this way but the egg hockey puck had no taste - zero. They could have at least added oyster sauce, a little soy sauce, maybe nam plah, and perhaps sesame oil. It was tasteless. A complete miss. I also ordered something simple, shrimp spring rolls. They were delicious! I inhaled them and will order them again. I'd go again just for the spring rolls. Maybe they have other dishes that are good and I may not entirely give up but the egg foo young is a no go.

We ordered seafood jjampong and wagyu beef jjampong as sides and genghis khan beef and chili garlic fried chicken as mains. The jjampong had that great umami taste without the oiliness that's unavoidable at other restaurants. The ingredients felt very premium and fresh. Ghengis khan beef pieces were very generous and tender with a savory sauce. Chili garlic chicken was a tad salty for me but had great crisp. After perusing the menu for sometime, we decided on the rainbow roll, which is a California base with an assortment of fish. We got tuna, salmon, and a white fish, which I'm guessing was Hamachi. The California base means that they included surimi and avocado in the mixture. Another dish ordered was the Diablo Tower roll. This roll consisted of a rice base, crab stick, avocado, tuna, Masago, eel sauce and spicy mayo. You could substitute another fish for the crab stick which we did. We ordered salmon instead. Lastly, we got an 8 piece salmon roll. Everything was really fresh and superb. If I were to choose a favorite, I would take a Diablo tower again. It was the most beautiful presentation I have seen and also delicious. Our eyes were bigger than our stomach. We could not finish the other portions of the meal. Water and food service was great as were the staff. They have tables and booths along with the sushi counter for seating. There is a large bar as well. Unfortunately, whatever is happening on the takeout and bagging side of the house is completely unacceptable. Whatever you do, do not place an online order for takeout. For the third time in a row, our takeout order arrived with no rice. Every entrée comes with white rice, and we even paid extra for an additional side of rice. Rice is essential to this cuisine -- it's not optional -- and when I'm paying $107 for a relatively small meal, I expect to receive what I paid for. When my wife picked up the order, she was rushed out the door and didn't have an opportunity to check the bag. I wasn't feeling well, so I had to call the restaurant, wait on hold, explain that our rice was missing, and then be told that I'd need to drive back to pick it up, turning the entire meal cold. To make matters worse, the initial offer was a $2 credit for the missing rice. Only after asking to speak with a manager did they eventually offer a $25 credit toward a future visit, which frankly required far more effort than it should have. On top of that, while the food is usually very good, tonight my entire family independently noted that the chicken had a strange plasticky, almost metallic taste, which was very odd and concerning. That's not something we've experienced here before, but it definitely added to the disappointment. Again -- the food is typically good. But the repeated takeout mistakes, lack of quality control, and poor handling of a reasonable complaint make this a hard place to recommend right now. This has happened three times, and at this point they really need to get their act together.
