This is as one of the best New Mexican Food restaurants I have eaten at in years. The green chili as so favorable with chunks of green chili. Red was also amazing. Great salsa and the service was fabulous! We will be back also, homemade tortillas!!! Yummmmmm read more

Ahh much more like the authentic NM stuff I was hoping for. Mucho locals in the restaurant as we arrived not quite noon. Fast Friendly service, huge portions and endless water and tea (harrumph... business lunch too early for cervesa). Frito pie under beans, chicken, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes onion, over top red and green chilies. Huge bowl of it. Basic full of flavor and fun. Even got a bib to prevent spillage over pink power tie. We looked like Narcs or feds walking in the door... defiantly not locals. But it didn't matter our waitress was fun, helpful and liked poking fun at one OC California dude who never heard of Frito pie. "Y'all nevah Hurd of no Frito Pahhh? Where you from son? Awe now that splains it all. read more

Great food and service. Come early to get a seat. This is a joint regular by locals.

We were 15 minutes late meeting our party but it worked out. They got seated just as we walked in the door. I don't have space to describe everyone's meal but all were good. Our host for the group said order flour tortillas with butter, which we did. Her family is from a long line of New Mexicans and she makes the best food. But, she said their flour tortillas were better than hers. She was right. Our waitress gave us just the right amount of attention without being bothersome. She was also very helpful with the menu. My in-laws are not from around here and asked many questions. The waitress was patient and kind even though they were terribly busy. Highly recommended. read more

A must-stop in Albuquerque! I read a lot about Duran's and was excited to try their food and visit the pharmacy store based off all the good reviews and interesting history of the business. They started as a pharmacy decades ago and ended up expanding into a restaurant after the owner began serving New Mexican cuisine that gained popularity. We had a bit of a wait when we arrived but the staff was super friendly and we were able to browse around the store while we waited. The restaurant itself has a fun aesthetic and feels like a diner with a modern, Latin flare. We have moderate appetites and split a huevos rancheros plate with red and green sauce as well as an al a carte cheese enchilada with red sauce. Most orders also come with a free homemade flour tortilla with butter on the side. The flour tortilla was phenomenal! We also really enjoyed the rest of our food. We've found that we are bigger fans of red chili than we are green, but both are good depending on your preferences. This is a must while visiting Albuquerque! read more

My first time here was almost three years ago! My how time flies! Especially when you're eating! Hehehe It is definitely not a place that I can say I frequent regularly but I do make it back from time to time. I came back to today, with the same person who introduced it to me years ago. I remember not being super impressed with them because they do not offer shredded beef tacos. Only ground beef. I settled for ground beef enchiladas, red chile. I do like my tacos. Today, they offered a special, roast beef tacos or shredded beef is what she said. I had to have them. With a side of red chile of course. They come with a side of whole beans which I am fan of. These tacos were delish! The beef was super soft, moist and yet still caramelized just enough on some edges to give it that extra flavor. It wasn't quite shredded beef. Almost more like shaved steak meat. Not quite roast beefy either. Not a single stringy or tough piece of meat to be found. Hefty sized too. They doubled up the corn tortillas which I appreciated since they were fairly soft. I did find the inside tortilla tearing in the middle. I happily devoured all three tacos. Their red chile. Very good. Just like I remember it. Great flavor and heat. I'm glad they finally offered the kind of taco I like. If you ever catch it on the specials, grab a plate. They are totally worth it. Still a fan of Duran's. Great service and good food. All served up in a cool spot, used to be a fire station. The service here is stellar. Never an empty glass and the food comes out fresh and hot. Come early for lunch because it is not a terribly huge place, hence small dining room, fills up quickly. See you over there! read more

I went there in pursuit of the carne adovada (red chile roasted pork) and wasn't disappointed. Several in our party had the tacos. The adovada is the reason to go and it's worth the wait. You might get through the lunch run faster if you're ok w counter service. It's legit NM food. You won't mistake it for some On The Border factory prepped meal. read more

Very good food. The service was great. We had tamales, tostadas, enchiladas, and the handmade tortillas. All great. I just wish they had sopapillas; I understand they do that twice a week. That caused my take away a star from the New Mexican Cuisine eatery. The Chile was excellent. Again, service was great. It was busy, but the food came quickly. The server was friendly, helpful, and patient. I would recommend to anybody. read more

I hadnt been there in over a year, so I decided to take my brother to eat. Service was slow and food was substandered.

Horrible service! staff, especially Lorraine, are rude and not friendly. Food is not the best sometimes cold and very sloppy made. Place is very small and tables are too close where everyone is on top of each other. My main issue is with staff (especially Lorraine) not getting orders correct and then choose to argue and make customer feel like if they complain they are causing a problem. (we are all allowed to complain especially if what we order and pay for is not what we get) and when you ask to speak with owner she refuses to let you speak with him and tends to use vulgar language and hangs up on you. Lorraine is always rude and hateful and can use customer service training to learn to be a be person. read more

By far one of my favorite restaurants not only in Albuquerque but everywhere! I was introduced to this restaurant back in 2013 when I moved from El Paso to Albuquerque by a coworker and I have been hooked on this place ever since then. I recently moved out of Albuquerque to the Dallas area in 2016 although I still come back to work here in NM once a month and it's a place I have to stop at every single time I come out here before heading back to the airport. The Red Chile is amazing it's the best thing I've ever tasted here in New Mexico or anywhere else I travel. The service is outstanding with amazing people that work there that always greet you with a smile and remember who you are every time I come back. By far this is one of the best restaurants in New Mexico and you have to stop by here If you want to get the best red chile experience anywhere in the world...period!! read more

Best New Mexican in ABQ. Freshest food, best atmosphere, best service. I will always recommend this spot!

I went to Duran's for a late lunch recently and got an order to go. I ordered a enchilada a la cart with whole beans. It was ready in less than 5 minutes and was piping hot. Both the enchilada and beans were delicious and the serving size was generous. The staff were helpful & friendly as well. read more

If forced to name a single restaurant in the U.S. as my absolute favorite this would likely be my choice. Truly a star in the wondrous firmament of Albuquerque's New Mexican food offerings. The blue corn cheese enchilada plate is unstoppable, though I'm always tempted to simply order a whole plate of their incredible sopapillas! Combine all this with the most sincerely friendly service anywhere and I'm just dying to get back there. read more

My friend found this place for our birthdays lunch because she knew I liked shredded beef tacos and had called them before hand. When we arrived the waitress was nice and after ordering our drinks then looked over the menus we were ready to order. I asked the waitress if I could substitute a Chile relleno for a beef taco on one of their meals and she said yes. I asked if the beef was shredded and she said no they only had ground beef tacos. Oh well, so I ordered the ground beef taco :-(. It was the typical New Mexican taco on a pre made (Taco Bell) shell that immediately cracked apart! Nothing special about the Chile relleno, I didn't finish it! After we finished and we're walking out I noticed the "Daily Special" board and it had a beef taco made from roast beef! Why the heck did she not mention that when I asked for a shredded beef taco???? I thought I had found a place to recommend to my family but there are so many typical New Mexican restaurants with the same food . Plus I'm really put off by a server that could care less for her customers. We tipped her well and I wish I could take back part of it! read more

We were just passing through looking for a quick takeout meal and hoping for authentic New Mexican cuisine. Although we have no basis for actual New Mexican foods as Californians we thought this place delivered! The service was fast and very friendly the salsa was fresh and hot and the tamales were delish. The place itself seems a bit rundown inside and out but not dirty. My hubs had their special roast beef tacos which were a little greasy but the meat had great flavor. While we waited for our food we had a nice cold beer and watched an employee hand making giant floor tortillas- damn, should've ordered a burrito... Overall the food and service were perfectly good. read more

Okay, I came to Duran's for a business meeting. Honestly, I got here and really didn't plan to Yelp anything...just didn't expect much. BUT, I was blown away at how amazing the food was. My brothers and I went to Durans Station today for lunch. It was fabulous. The chips were homemade and excellent. The sopapillas were soft and fluffy, cooked perfectly. My green chili cheese enchilada was awesome. I eat at restaurants all over town and I find that most are just mediocre. But, today I had the best lunch I have had for a long time. it reminded me of the enchiladas, beans and sopapillas that I ate many many years ago. I am so happy to find a New Mexican restaurant that serves awesome New Mexican food. We should have awesome New Mexican restaurants all over town, but sadly we do not. My lunch today had the perfect flavor. Whoever was in that kitchen cooking, CARES!!! Thank you Durans Station for being authentic. read more

Consistently great food and great service! My friend and I meet for lunch periodically and this is the ONLY restaurant we go to!

I came in for dinner on a Thursday night, which mean tortilla soup. So good. I had extra sou cream on the side and added chicken to the soup. Great waitress. My drink never went low and service with a smile. I had a wonderful time. read more

One of our very favorite places in ABQ. The food is fantastic (seriously!), the staff is friendly and fast, and the place itself is really cool! It used to be an old fire station. Our whole family highly recommends this place. My two favs, the Rellenos and the Green Chili Cheeseburger. Everyone in our family has a different fav...that's how great the food is!!! read more

Duran's charges for dressing when you order a salad. I've never heard of such a thing! I also asked for a side of green chile. It came in a shallow 2 ounce solo cup and I was charged $2.50 for it. It's one of those condiment cups most restaurants have. In all, my taco salad was around $15 which seemed excessive. read more

Comfy bar & grill - type atmosphere... very friendly service staff and the food was especially delicious. I had the stuffed sopapilla - absolutely yummy and filling... my son had the nachos... I have been coming to Duran's for almost 50 years. When they opened Duran's station on Menaul I couldn't be happier. We will continue to make this a weekly visit. read more

Always a treat! This place doesn't have the wonderful southwest ambiance, but what it lacks in ambience it makes up for in service and fare. Red Chile enchiladas...just cheese and onions. Simple yet so "home". A basket of sopapillas and chips n salsa to round out meal. Good friends completed the experience. Every time we're back home we hit this place, and it never fails to complete our trip. Duran's Station has it going on. The prices won't break anyone's bank and the value is priceless. If you visit Albuquerque don't miss this place. read more

Duran's is full of regulars for a reason! The New Mexican food here is delicious! I had the chile rellanos with both red and green chile....I couldn't decide which chile was better! Red or green? I have been to Duran's before and had the cheese enchiladas, also very good. The ambiance is nice and friendly. The wait staff is excellent and attentive. One more thing, be sure and order a freshly made flour tortilla to mop up all that great chile! read more

Growing up in Northern NM I was spoiled with the selection of Spanish/Mexican Restaurants. I get excited when someone suggests a restaurant with Northern NM style cuisine, especially if I don't have to drive 1-2 hours to get some. Duran's Station on Menaul is everything I can ask for when it comes to this style of food. First off, this place is sorta hidden on Menaul. It is definitely marked correctly on Google Maps, but if you blink, you're going to miss it. The interior has that ma and pa feel to it. Very cozy atmosphere. The staff was awesome and was always around when our table requested refills. The menu has every item you can think of when going to a Spanish/Mexican restaurant. When they ask red or green, definitely order the red. I know I am going to ruffle some feathers with my next statement, but Duran's Station might have the best red chile in ABQ! They definitely have the awards to prove it. read more

Duran's Station - Stuffed sopapilla with carne adovada. - New Mexican Cuisine Near Me - Albuquerque, New Mexico

Very clean and welcoming, the food was outstanding and my server was friendly and prompt! A gem of a restaurant - excellent find!

A gem! Easy access on Menaul just west of Washington. Large paved and striped parking lot...plenty of room at 2:00 p.m. Nice clean, remodeled but up to date building. Well filtered afternoon sunlight through numerous windows. Clean modern restrooms. Several good daily specials posted in the entry area. Seating at the bar, booths or tables for about 75 patrons. Straightforward menu featuring numerous popular New Mexico dishes at reasonable prices. Delicious food...try the red chile...it's justifiably well known locally. Tortillas are large and thick...homemade I think. they also have an excellent selection of beer including many local products. Service by Alicia and another, was excellent with drinks and chips/salsa on the table within two minutes. My wife took her time looking over the menu...very patient server...when we ordered, it was on the table in under 5 minutes, hot and clearly just prepared. Server checked on us several times and cleaned up a full glass of water I spilled very quickly. After we finished our food, we were presented with the bill and the server was the cashier. Good prices given the quality. The entire experience was enjoyable, easy going and will be repeated as necessary when I'm in Albuquerque. It was recommended by the guys at Albuquerque Tire, next door, as a nice place with good food...they're right. read more

My first review in well over a year! Duran's Station had been on our radar for a while. We've been to the downtown location and really enjoyed it. The (somewhat) limited hours have deterred us but we found ourselves with some time midweek and wanted to get lunch, so we decided to try it out. So glad we did! The place is really cute, not too big. You seat yourself and then are greeted by a server and a basket of chips and salsa (first basket complimentary). We didn't catch her name but she was friendly and efficient. The menu is standard NM fare. The blue corn enchiladas immediately caught my eye because they aren't as readily available AND they are served flat, which is my preference. So my companion and I both ordered blue corn enchiladas. He got red with just cheese, I got green with chicken. They come with whole beans, too, which is a definite plus. The kitchen is kind of open concept and it was not busy so we saw things being prepared in realish time, including watching the plates go into the salamander. Food came out promptly and looked delicious. In addition to the enchiladas we each got a buttered tortilla. Their tortillas are made in house and they are delicious--don't sleep on these. Not gonna lie, these are solidly delicious enchiladas. The red is extremely flavorful, with more heat than the green. The green is also delicious and I normally don't get chicken in my enchiladas, but the chicken was not bland at all and was in large chunks and generously portioned. They also use white cheese which I prefer for enchiladas. The portions are very generous (we were both super full when we left) and everything was very good. Something positive to note is that enchiladas can often be greasy or a gut bomb--these were not! They were really delicious. The only (minor) thing I'd say I noticed is that my enchiladas were not as hot (temperature) as I would have liked. The top and edges were from being under the salamander but the insides weren't super hot. It certainly didn't prevent me from demolishing the plate but just something to think about. I think my companion's were more uniformly hot because his were just cheese. They were delicious and I would order either one of them again. So, good service, good food, cute location. We'll be back! read more

I was having a "high maintenance ordering" day and Alicia, my server, handled it like a boss! Wanted to try their handmade tortillas and work backwards. Stoked on this place, will be back! read more

Duran's Station NEVER disappoints. Every time I order chicken enchiladas they are exactly the same as the lasts time.
