    Bean and cheese burrito.

There did a hen house tour and Easter Egg Hunt for the kids today before lunch. We throughly enjoyed learning about the different varieties of chickens and the different color eggs they produce and how much they will produce. After we had a lunch back in a quiet room with waitress Angelina. She was very professional and proficient. We enjoyed our shared cheese quesadilla. Then the kids each had bean and cheese and chicken burritos. Another had a combo plate with tacos and more. I had the 3 mini taco shell cups filled with meat and beans topped with guacamole, sour cream, lettuce and tomatoes. We all enjoyed the sapodillas with honey for dessert. The place surprisingly was not filled with people celebrating the holiday, but more will come. They had Fonzy the llama out front to entertain you too. What a cute little guy. It was a very nice way to spend Easter with my family.

A full 5 star meal at ElPinto on a Friday night Ordered Huevos Rancheros and they were fantastic Not too salty which had been a thing lately, I did stay away from the stuffed sopaipillas for that very reason Need some time to let my arteries clean out. Spring has arrived and patio dining is in full swing. A huge plus and why we really enjoy frequent visits to ElPinto We recommend reservations all the time This place gets jumping! Check for a bar table if it's packed and you failed to make reservations Easy parking most times, dusty lot yes so expect a dusty car when you leave 2 thumbs up

I am all for ambiance and nostalgia. And that is something that El Pinto offers. This was my first time ever at El Pintos. I lived in Rio Rancho for awhile. But never went. Shame on me for sure. So glad on my visit back to NM and being invited out for dinner with my Manager. Who I was meeting in person for the first time. Perfect setting. Our server never brought us any Chips and Salsa. A little numbed. But oh well. Gives me an excuse to return I guess. I had the Rice Bowl which is on the healthy conscious menu. It comes with rice, your choice of chile flavor, pinto beans, your choice of meat, and a flour tortilla. I chose green chile and shredded pork. The portion is a really good size. And it was really good. Something I would recommend and I would have it again. I will return and bring my husband next time. One thing I noticed is they accommodate large parties with such ease. I liked seeing that.

Our last stop before leaving Albuquerque and Santa Fe. We stopped in for lunch, party of 9, they sat us in the back area patio type setting, lots of plants and clear roof top for all the natural lighting. Very cool. Our waitperson was prompt and attentive, chips & salsa ready to go and water glasses always filled. A really extensive menu but for me I had the red pozole soup. It was very good with big pork chunks. Someone else had a rice bowl and they said it was perfect portion size. They even have a gluten-free menu! Outstanding. Some in our group bought the jarred salsa they have for sale. T-shirts and Bloody Mary/Margarita mixes for sale as well. Definitely a return visit is a must.

Grandmother and granddaughter out for the evening. The food and ambience made it special. Thanks!

Great service, great food and certainly affordable. Never have trouble getting a table and the setting is always a joy. The management is even on the floor checking with patrons to make sure they are enjoying their dining experience. Keep up the excellent service and quality of food. We appreciate you!

Fun place to take out-of-towners, especially folks visiting ABQ on business. The salsa is always super fresh (not spicy), which inevitably results in eating too many chips before you order...but if you're a real glutton for punishment, the fried green chili strips are a fun, tasty app (though wholly unnecessary given the huge portions). Unpopular opinion: El Pinto's is best for Sunday brunch. Blue corn pancakes with blueberries and pecans FTW, though the eggs benedict is a close second! Entrees are overpriced, but the coffee is good, and I love the outdoor seating area on a nice day. (Ask for the Garden Room, if you want to sit inside.) By comparison, the lunch and dinner menus aren't as good. The carne adovada is a safe albeit spicy choice. I find most of the other dishes (beef brisket, enchiladas) to be overly salted. Ribeye was not good, and I wish they'd serve real honey with the sopaipillas instead of the fake karo syrup stuff... Reservations recommended. Beautiful ristra-laden entrance. Bathrooms are always clean, and there's plenty of parking in the dirt lot.

A must stop when we hit Albuquerque. The ambiance is second to none! Huge restaurant with a multitude of outdoor patio seating and so many great artifacts that are theme appropriate. Service is always great here! Food is also pretty good. The Sopapillas Rock! Ask for some Honey to drown them in! Guac is super fresh but a bit bland. Queso is good but the Blue Chips were underdone and soggy. My entree Pork Stuffed Sopapillas was awesome, big, delicious and filling. Try the spicy sauce it was great and not dangerously spicy, I like the Red sauce best. You can also buy a couple jars to take with you!

I'm here for work and the guy at the rental car place recommended this place. Did not disappoint. I had the whole rack of red chili ribs. They wer fall.of the bone and had great heat. Great outdoor seating.

I've been to El Pinto restaurant four times now. It's a bit unbelievable how expensive the simple restaurant has become. We went out for dinner and it was $23.50 for a simple dinner plate of enchiladas with rice and beans. We had two dinners with iced tea and the total bill was gratuity was $72. Just seems excessive. Perhaps it's just the inflation of the times we live in, but I know the prices have gone up way too much.

    Combination Plate #3
    George M.

Paying $24 for a "Combination Plate #3" (a customer favorite!) will have you asking yourself, "maybe I should start paying people to let their dogs crap in my yard?". Chili con carne was half fatty pieces, relleno was soggy (and shitty), chicken rolled taco might as well have been a pencil (for the size and texture), and the cheese enchilada was covered by lettuce ....because I know the cook hoped I wouldn't find that miserable tasting thing. 0/4 on this plate. For apps, the fried green chilis just taste like fried batter, and if you have holes in your drywall that need to be repaired with some bland patching compound, save a little to take home with you. The $6, 12oz Dos Equis beer was nice and cold, but I didn't have (and couldn't afford) enough to help me forget the food. My recommendation if you go there: get blackout drunk at home beforehand and skip the food. The place looks nice, but when you see that the average age of their patrons is +/-80 years (with a small exception of young foreigners that probably got a discount voucher from their hotel), you start to connect the dots. The food is legitimate garbage, and the prices are an insult to anyone with money.

    Green Chile Strips

Beautiful dinner at El Pinto to celebrate my best friends birthday! We sat in a gorgeous outdoor room that was covered and looked out to the garden. This restaurant is BEAUTIFUL! It's the perfect place for a celebration or for out of town visitors (or just a special occasion). Now the food-- I wasn't as hungry today so I wanted to try out some smaller appetizer things!! I got the fried green chile strips I HATED THEM. Lol they are just too thin, they had no structure and just crumpled right apart. I am used to different green chile strips, thicker like a fried pickle. Do not recommend. The guac was delicious and fresh. Everyone in our party loved their food! Our sweet server was amazing! She did a great job managing a huge table of crazy ladies!!! We will 100% be back for another celebration!!

While in Albuquerque, you have to eat New Mexican food. We came for lunch and the sopapillas. This restaurant is big and so is the menu. I was having trouble deciding what to have but our server Colin helped me out. I wanted to try the green chile stew and the papitas so he said I could have those as my sides with the chicken adovada. Everything I had was delicious. The green chile stew was tasty but kind of on the spicy side. The chicken and the potatoes were very good. The sopapillas were fresh and absolutely delicious with the honey. Colin was so helpful and just a great server. The restaurant was clean and the parking lot is pretty big.

An Albuquerque must! Food is delicious, flavorful, and comes in HUGE portions! Servers (we had 2) were helpful and friendly. They attended to our every need. Three patios offer great seating in addition to the many inside rooms. Chips are crisp and thick and well salted. Salsa is a little warm but good! Cozy fireplaces everywhere. The patio music sound track playing was great! Parking lot is huge--but uneven so watch your step,

Chile con carne enchiladas (3), flat with all beans and no rice. I don't believe I've ever spent so much for enchis before - tasty, tho.

If you know where Hot Tamales is, go behind it and hit Upscale Rio! First of all, this place has so many options of what I'd call comfort food and everything is good! They have shakes, desserts, yummy starters, mac and cheese, burgers and much more! What's my favorite thing? So many items are gluten free!! Hallelujah!! Even the burgers can be ordered with a gluten free bun! We also had a super sweet waitress! I had to go gluten free last fall and it really cut down on us eating out as most places have little to no options. Here, MOST things are gluten free!! Like what you may ask? Well, today I had chicken fried chicken, green chile gravy, mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables- a medley of corn, Lima beans ,bell peppers and red onions. They use a gluten free rice flour and the batter on the chicken was crispy and delicious!! They are also super generous with their portions so I took half of my food home and can't wait for dinner! I also had a double chocolate shake and a cold brew. They proudly brew Whispering Bean Coffee which is super tasty! My husband had the Green Chile Chicken Pot Pie and really enjoyed it and ate every bite! My mother in law had the Basic Cheddar Burger with fresh cut fries and raved about it. She also had a Key Lime Pie Shake. No photo of this, sorry! They normally have a gluten free fruit cobbler but they were out. I'll be back to try that for sure! All I know is I found a place that has super tasty gluten free options that I can't find anywhere else. I love you Upscale Rio! I'll be sharing this with all my gluten free friends! See you soon!! We went with the Korean Chicken bites, the Margarita Flatbread, & the green chilli cheeseburger. The Chicken bites were terrible. Taste wasn't great at all, they were very very fried, but not in a good way. I love some good crunchy fried chicken but these just were not it! The flavor, the texture, none of it was right. The Margarita Flatbread was med. Taste was pretty good, but it was soggy and didn't hold up well at all. That said it was the best of the 3 things we did get. Unfortunately, that's not saying much..... The burger was okay also. Not bad by any means, but nothing special at all either....considering there's a burger place next door I thought the burger would be able to compete with the neighbor, but trust me if you want a burger, go next door! They don't put sauce on it at all, no nothing. Just straight up patty, cheese and bun. Only my 6 year old cousin eats like that.....I did add some mayo and ketchup, which helped, but still not a great burger.... The bun didn't add much for us either, even though it was baked in house with green chilli....A simple brioche would be better imo... The fries with the burger were actually the best single item of the experience. Their fries are really good! So good that I was going to eat every single one of them but instead my waiter just came and took my plate before I had finished the last 10 or so. No are you finished yet, or anything, just grabbed it, turned and left. I was so shocked I didn't even have time to say I'm not done with that. He left the crummy chicken bites we weren't eating though..... LOL Seriously don't touch my plate unless it's empty, or you ask first! Since it was a small amount I let it slide and didn't reduce his tip because the rest of the service was actually pretty good overall..... I definitely 100% will not be back here though, there's much better food in the area.

Sadly, we found kind of a mixed bag. First, the standout items. The margaritas were fantastic; some of the best we've had in the USA and extremely generous. The pinto bean sides were some of the best we've had since returning to the States in 2013. Perhaps not quite as great as those of the shuttered El Cotorro but still stellar. Next, the tacos. We tried only two of the several tacos on offer - The El Pastor and the Pescado. Both were served in what was called "corn tortillas" but these differed from virtually any corn tortillas we've ever had in Mexico or elsewhere. They were at least twice as thick as your typical corn tortilla found in just about all Mexican taco places in Mexico and elsewhere. The consistency and taste were quite different from your normal corn tortilla also. In fact, they really didn't seem to have much taste at all, of corn or anything else. Now to the fillings. At the aforementioned El Cotorro, the meat for the Al Pastor tacos was cooked on a vertical rotating spit which was the only way we ever saw it cooked in Mexico. The meat La Reforma used in their al pastor tacos was more chunky and way drier than any we ever had in Mexico or at El Cotorro. It didn't taste similar to any al pastor tacos were ever had in Mexico. It also kind of seemed like it wasn't cooked recently whereas in Mexico you can watch the cook with a large knife carve off the meat from the vertical spit right in front of you. Usually the time between the carving and it sitting in front of you is under 10 seconds. The fish taco at La Reforma was disappointing. The fish resembled a fish stick but one without much flavor. We wouldn't order it again. We gave the mini-churros a try for dessert. Because they were so small, they were way crispier than your typical regular-sized churro. We might return but we'd skip the al pastor and the fish tacos and try some of the other tacos. But we strongly suggest that they dump their current "corn tortillas" because they're not that good. Way too thick and virtually tasteless. Lo siento. Kudos for the margaritas and the beans. The rest of what we tried didn't live up to the recent glowing review in the ABQ Journal.

Can't blame the average restaurant for the world's declining budget fish quality. This place was no exception, on this day at least. We immediately reported it to the manager, who moved us to another area. Unfortunately, the service following that was extremely poor. The staff seemed rushed and dismissive, and one even announced that our card had declined -- loudly -- when our bank confirmed the charge was never attempted. Overall, it was an unpleasant experience and the worst service I've ever received at a restaurant. Update: the owner reached out and provided some in sight. They are working on this issue with a couple pest controls. The owner was very polite and showed concern with the way we were treated after reporting this. He states there will be a full refund for our meals unfortunately this should have been something the manager offered at the time this happened not just an after thought. This is a family owned restaurant so I understand the post can be hurtful to business. I will post another edit if we ever go back there.

Dine in | Dinner I…read moredon't normally do bad reviews but i mean this wasn't not ok. We arrived a little before 4 there were only 2 other tables being used. Not greeted by any staff for a few min but over all We sat quickly ordered some waters and bread sticks and nachos for appetizers. And 1lg pizza supper simple. At 415she brought us waters and told us sorry they got busy. She never came back. Another waitress shortly brought out our bread sticks and nachos. No plates no napkins. It's just me and the kids they don't mind. Our nachos had hair on them cooked into the cheese. Tried to flag down "our" server she never came. Finally the other girl brought it pizza. We told her about the hair. Showed her the chips dangling cooked across multiple pieces. She apologized, my daughter didn't like their pizza. So she offered to get her more nachos. I said, thank you and waited for my waitress to come back. She didn't.By five fifteen, we still had no nachos, and nobody had come to fill our drinks or take care of us. My daughter walked to the front let them know that we had to leave. And we needed boxes and our check..... Still, a bunch of time went by. Nobody came so i got so the kids and our stuff we walked to the front "our" waitress looked at me and said, sorry we're busy. I told her about the hair and the nachos, and how no one has waited on us in over an hour. She got an attitude and said, well. You can talk to my manager..... I said yes please! The manager, his name was David was completely clueless and just said, well.We can give you a discount.Your nachos are supposed to be rushed. I told him i'm not gonna pay for food with hair.In it and I need to leave. He looked at me and said, well, okay. And proceeded to print out my ticket.I told him i'm sorry but i'm not paying for food with hair in it.And he said, okay, well, we'll take that off.. No apology, no nothing.I couldn't believe it... Other than the one young lady who was not our waitress. No one was apologetic. They made us feel like a very big inconvenience, told us how busy they were. And I let them know that we were there before they got busy. And she just said well okay...... I overpaid the thirty eight dollars for my food and we left. All that to say we will not be returning!!! I see all these good reviews for this place. And I wonder if they're just friends or I guess just came when there was different.Waitresses i'm not sure but that was awful!! The only shot out was to the sweet young lady not our waitress if it is her name on the top of the ticket Since she checked us out, I believe is Sara. Thank you for being the only one kind to my family.

My dining companion…read morewas craving something from another restaurant on the other side of town, but considering it was so late, I suggested coming here as it had similar things on the menu, and I am so glad I suggested this place. We walked in, and the place was a little crowded, but we were still sat pretty quickly. I liked the atmosphere of the place because it seemed very open, inviting, and had a certain local charm to it. As soon as my dining companion saw the people around us getting their food delivered it looked so good she no longer remembered what we came for and we ended up ordering something completely different. We didn't wait long for our waitress to come over. She was very nice and attentive I asked her for a drink recommendations, and she mentioned some good ones. Considering the day before was New Year's Eve and I probably should've took a break from drinking, I said say screw it and got something light. It was a blood orange cider, and it was delicious, I was not expecting it to taste like that! Unable to make our minds up, we decided to split a salad and pizza. For the salad I wanted to get the Valley grande, but we compromised and got the brazos which was essentially a Caesar salad. That's how it was huge. We had enough to share and more, it was also tasty, the dressing. You could tell was definitely house made. For the pizza we decided to get a split half truchas and half chimayo (my half) and it was amazing the flavor was great and the topping fresh. Although next time I will ask for well done. On to dessert. The best thing we ordered all night was the Apple calzone. It seemed to be the size of a little football and came with two scoops of ice cream. I could tell it was made to order and it was absolutely delicious! We cannot wait to go back.
