I only wish I could get soy curls from my grocery store! Amazing New Mexican vegan food!

Delicious made-from-scratch casual vegan Mexican food. Yum. I'm so glad I came here amid numerous great vegan options in Albuquerque. I was impressed with the wide array of vegan "proteins" including tofu (grilled or fried), soy curls, homemade seitan, calabacitas, and avocado. I got the enchilada plate (because I can NEVER resist enchiladas) Christmas style. It comes with 1-2 proteins and I added a third so I could try the grilled tofu, the grilled soy curls, and the seitan. It was hard to tell what was what with so many things in there - probably should have gotten an extra side of one of the proteins instead. Nevertheless everything was incredible. Great chile sauce and beans and rice. I was super disappointed that they were out of kombucha during my visit - they typically have both Stargazer and New Mexico Ferments. read more

This place came highly recommended from research to this city and let me tell you, it was one of the best meals I had on my cross country trip. With modest curb appeal, it gives the feel of an old school diner with an earthy, sustainable twist. The service was fast and excellent especially if visiting for the first time. I love Vegos. Casual little place serving vegan New Mexican cuisine. A gem, if you ask me. The food is so, so delicious. Plant-based goodness galore: everything I've tried, I've loved so far. We stopped here for a little snack and really enjoyed the house-made concha: both in texture and flavor! We enjoyed trying the chile relleno but we weren't as impressed by it probably because I make a vegan chile relleno with a airy thicker batter at home that we like. I still appreciated that they offer it but their version has a very thin and minimal crispy batter around the pepper. The red sauce they were served with was pretty good and had a little spice. So so so good!! Came here on a Tuesday evening 30 min before closing. We were visiting from out of town and wanted to try some delicious food. Vegos did not disappoint from the friendly staff to the beautiful interior, Vegos is a must while in Albuquerque. We parked in their lot, easy parking, and was able to order and then seat ourselves at a booth. I ordered a delicious fresh pressed juice and an order of the enchiladas with black beans/quinoa and calabacitas. Both were really delicious and flavorful. I don't need to add any hot sauces, which is rare for me. And I love that they don't rush us out despite it being almost closing time. Next time I'm in the city, this will be my first stop. My last review for 2025 unless something changes but.... After passing the gluten test, I really wanted a vegan cheesesteak and we had come here before. Since our last visit, they added more seating to their dining room (they have booths with soft green paint on the wall, which adds to the vibe. Note: since it's a small building, the restroom is located outside and requires a key). The service was attentive and quick, we had all our questions answered and were checked up on now and then. This is for takeout but the hype is real. The Nobody Calls Me Chicken sandwich is really that good. The tofu is perfectly cooked and the crispy coating is delicious. I had mine with the bbq sauce. I also ordered the Sandi Burrito which is potate, Spanish rice and fried tofu with a chipotle mayo. Out of this world!!! My wife who is very fussy said it's something she might take with her for lunch on her next airplane flight. Theu understand that good vegan food takes a lot of flavor and texture. Love Vegos! For the last year plus I have needed to be vegan due to my son's dairy allergy. Vegos has been my top go to! Their service is amazing, quick friendly and helpful in making recommendations. And the food is amazing! They have verity from burritos, salads to sandwich's! And tasty sweets too! The sopapilla fries are a delight! They have both indoor and outdoor seating, parking on a busy day can be a little tricky but well worth it! 10 out of 10 recommend! This was my first time visiting Vegos vegan restaurant in Albuquerque New Mexico. I was pleasantly surprised how great the majority of the food was! I'll start with our favorite items and work our way down. Loaded Fries: It was very wet and full of toppings , I loved how every single fry had flavor and toppings on it. A lot of loaded fries aren't like that, you end up running out of toppings at the bottom. I don't usually eat beans that much but their beans are enchanting. Definitely a 5 star dish both my fiancé and I both felt the same way about it. I think they forgot the seitan from it, but I can't tell if they charged me for it because their receipt machine was broken. At first I was upset but as I kept eating I realized the dish was really great even without it. The buffalo "chicken" sandwich, was just excellent. I got extra vegan ranch and added just a tiny bit more to the sandwich and I think it was a nice extra touch, but I think it's just great even the way it comes. The "chicken" is made out of tofu, but the texture is perfect you can tell they put alot of work into making sure that tofu had great texture. 5 star dish! The chips were great, they taste home made, the guacamole was great, I wish I could have a tiny bit more guac to go with the chips though, I would recommend also getting a side salsa or double guac for the chips. The Sopapilla was soooo good. Before I tried this my favorite Sopapilla came from café azul, but this was a contender, maybe even better than theirs. I just wasn't a fan of vegan honey. It just did have the same taste as honey. I would almost rather use agave maybe. But if you're talking about the taste and texture of the Sopapilla itself; it was A++ 5 stars for sure. The sandia burrito was pretty good, the sweet potato was a nice touch and I liked the flavors. I would say this was a 4 star dish. The elote was served cold which was definitely unique, would have been nice to know that ahead of time, but also the corn was a bit hard? Not sure why, seemed undercooked possibly. The flavors were there the texture and temperature need work. 3 star dish The Sopapilla fries... hmmm, I thought it was pretty good, but I would call it a Sopapilla churro if I was the restaurant, because that's what it tasted like. 4 stars for this dish. I also tried their sauces and I like the ranch, the chipotle mayo, and the honey mustard. The first cashier I had who rang me up, seemed a bit confused also not happy to answer questions about their menu. I got the vibe that I was bothering her almost. The darker skinned girl who was cooking though, when I received my order I asked her the same questions and she answered with a smile and a warm customer service demeanor. I'm not gonna hold a lot of this against them because overall the experience was really good, and I didn't expect a small town like Albuquerque would serve big city style / quality vegan food. These burritos always hit the spot! Visiting from VA these blow anything we have out of the water! We always make it a point to get a burrito. My favorite was getting one for the balloon fiesta the next morning! Didn't think the burritos could be better but here we are! Though I miss having the old location this one is super cute. Decent. I am not a vegan. This place was in the area so I thought Id try it. I got the fried tofu sandwich. It was acceptable not incredible. I definitely noticed the lettuce was wilted, kinda old. I also got beans and rice. Rice was okay not great. Beans were better. Service was quick. Ive heard from others that the burritos are good so maybe get that instead. I know it's incredibly difficult to run a business and even more difficult to run a restaurant so I definitely sympathize that quality will go up and down in the best of times. I am honestly so shocked and impressed. I have been wanting to try Vegas for over a year, and finally got to try them at the Indian school RD location. I really expected some basic black bean and flavors in general, but these flavors pack a punch! The texture of the relleno and the taste were just excellent. I thought I would miss the cheese possibly, but I didn't. The chile was fresh and hot, and the fry was perfect. Everyone was nice, and the place was packed. I'm assuming everything else will be delicious as well- hopefully I can try more menu items in the future (although I'm sure I will got back to this one since it was outstanding). read more

3.5 stars for this Mexican-inspired diner. My very generous host ordered so many dishes because we wanted to try everything and we were hangry. Our first was the vegan elote... a small appetizer cup size of corn, spices and "cheeze" ... served cold it was just slightly too chewy for me texturally but good flavor. From there, enchiladas with seitan, chile rellenos with quinoa, loaded nacho fries, a crunch wrap taco, and a partridge in a pear tree ... JK. There's no animals harmed here! Seriously, we ate well. The cashew based "cheeze" was deliciously silky. But the star of the night was the deep fried Chile rellenos ... the crunch, the flavor and the accompanying beans and rice hit all the high notes. Nacho fries were rich and satisfying, though after a while it was sensory overload so some of the flavors became one note. You would never guess it's all vegan because the flavors were so rich and authentic--it truly captures the essence of New Mexico cuisine. The service was top tier. I was visiting Albuquerque while I was working and found this place. I was excited to try their food. I ended up getting the Loco tostaritto which is basically like a crunch wrap. It was pretty good. I also got a side of fries with queso and green chili. It was a little soupy, but I still ate some of it. I also got the Elote, which was an interesting flavor. Not what I was expecting or hoping for, but it was decent nonetheless. Although I was not wowed by anything here, I am happy that there is another vegan restaurant. Out of everything I had, my favorite was the churros. The empanada came in a far last, but it was still good. I would've like to try the concha, but it was sold out. Do you ever see something unique on the menu at a spot and just think "well I can't not try it"? Well, that's exactly how I felt about the don't call me chicken sandwich with a concha bun. I had heard about the sandwich, and I knew I just had to try it. Especially because I love a good concha. So the sandwich comes in a fully vegan concha bun with a fried tofu patty and your choice of sauce. I personally went with a golden goddess sauce, and it was delightful. Kind of had a honey mustard vibe to it overall a really good sandwich and I would totally go again. The concha was really good too. I did get fries on the side and they were OK but really the star was the sandwich. I will note that the customizations are a little harder on the website, but you can always call ahead for pick up or enjoy dining in. I have loved Vegos since the first time they handed me a jackfruit tamale at the RailYards that honest tasted exactly like carne. They've had a journey getting to this brick & mortar location, but I think it was worth it! We've tried just about everything on the menu and it's all great - the staff is incredible. Split orders to try more, and they'll happily cut it for you. Try all of the sauces! The mustard and fry sauces are our favorites. The new spot is clean and food is quick - great for a lunch with friends or when you've only got so much time before headed back to work. A variety of vegan options, mostly Mexican flavors. Popular for their NCMC crispy 'tofu' not chicken sandwich. The sandwich was good but the tofu could've used some seasoning. But I also think tofu is too plain anyway. Pickles & tomato helped. The enchiladas were good. I got the calabacitas (vegetables: corn squash) but next time I'd get the seiten instead. The Cali burrito was also good. Lots of avocado. Sopes Fries are top notch. 5/5 Peach empanada wasn't my thing. Had wanted to try Vegos and today was the day. My daughter is vegetarian and has had their fare at another location. Not a vast menu but very adequate. I ordered the stuffed sopaipilla...Navidad...red and green sauce. I 'et the whole thing. The "chile" was more of a red and green sauce. I was trying to imagine meatless red and green NM style chile. I don't think it would have been as flavorful as the sauces they created. My only complaint, if you will, is the acoustics. The reverberation had me going "huh?" First walk in was clean , we were visiting for a weekend and wanted to find a good spot to eat and man did they deliver! Exceeded expectations, real chefs in there! I thought it would be better. The menu looked promising. The fact that everything was vegan suited me and my companions. The fact that they are willing to adjust their food to accommodate dietary restrictions (such as gluten free) is a plus. But I was rather disappointed by the taste and quality. The portions were more than ample. In fact, I'd say the were excessive. I ordered a side that was totally unnecessary given the amount of food wrapped up in my burrito and the menu offered no clues that this might be the case. The seasonings were quite bland and the food was rather dry. I dumped about half of my order in the waste basket. The concept here is spot on. The execution needs to be much better. I've tried several things on the menu, and everything has been excellent. It's my preferred fast-food place, and it's super tasty. My sister introduced me to it last year, and sometimes I crave things and have to go there. The staff is always friendly and helpful and length of time to get your food is pretty short. My go-to item is the Sandia Burritto (SPANISH RICE, FRIED TOFU, SWEET POTATO FRIES, GUACAMOLE, CHIPOTLE "MAYO" & LETTUCE). It's spicy with just a touch of sweetness from the sweet potato fries. It's also huge, and I can't eat it all in one sitting. Perfect for two meals. Plus, they have the best sopapillas I've ever had. They are tasty, soft, and just a hint of sweet. Perfect to eat alone or with the Sopa syrup they come with. 10/10 every time. I have also enjoyed the Going Back to Cali Burrito, the Cheezy Bean and Rice Burrito, and the Cheezy Papa and Rice Burrito. Plus, their guacamole is excellent. The chips and dip with either the guac or queso is always a good side. Their queso is creamy and spicy, just like queso should be. The locally sourced Stargazer Kombucha is so tasty, not as vinegary as some Kombucha. They have some seating inside, or you can take your food to go.
