Once you get over the local element surrounding the area and visit this location it's great. We went through the drive through and we're quickly greeted in Spanish this gave a nice authentic feel. I asked if we could have a moment, which she was agreeable to. We finally determine what we would try. La Patrona, órale and tóxica. Once we got these home we realized these were some massive sandwiches. I was a little disappointed that it was a traditional torta like I have had in Mexico. It's was a great sandwich. Meaty with a great flavor. The meats were all juicy perfectly stacked to get all the tastes in each bite.

Great fresh made sandwiches. The Burqueno and the Toxico both yummy!

Wow! Very clean and inviting environment when you enter the establishment. Very modern looking decor and the use of today's technology for menu's. The food was freshly made with a good variety of sandwich options. Okay so about the food. The torta bread was light, soft baked and was grilled buttery and crisp on the underside, yum! The flavors are bold and spicy depending on what get, I suggest the Burqueno if you can handle it! this place is definitely worth a try, I will be back but it's something I personally need to be in the mood for. Hope you all enjoy!

Pineapple (L) and horchata (R) agua frescas. Extra flavorful.

Bottom Line: Very flavorful sandwiches & agua frescas. Super clean premises. Friendly & helpful counter lady. Strong accent can be hard to understand. A bit high on price for agua frescas. Online menu is brief & easy to understand. Top Line: Being a new business, Don Tortas interior was immaculate & shiny. Counter lady was friendly, outgoing, and helpful toward us making our choices for monthly outing. But her accent was pronounced enough that I struggled to understand what she said. My choice was La Patrona $12 torta with $5 horchata agua fresca. My dining partner went with the La Toxica torta, a side of fries, and pineapple agua fresca. Partner praised the pineapple drink for its flavor. I noted that the horchata possessed a notably heavier body than most I've had, which tend to be quite thin & watery even when they have good flavor. Don Tortas' horchata also was a bit more complex in flavor than most. Not just rice water, sugar, & cinnamon, which is pretty much the most basic & stripped down version. DT's horchata had nutmeg & some other flavor players joining the party, making it a distinctive drink. Sandwiches were large. Generosity on the portion front! The butter grilled toasted rolls were well loaded with meat, vegetation, cheese, dressing. The specific ingredients made for a rich & varied taste. Different textures kept the palate from being bored. Special note of the bread being sufficiently durable to not soggy up or crumble under the load they bore. The jalapeno peppers & chipotle arrived on the side. Chipotle was strong with the smoky flavor and, while it had a nice sting to it, was not as searingly hot as I anticipated. So I put it *all* on my torta & it wasn't too spicy. The pickled jalapeno was a bit hotter. But the hottest of all was the carrot slices that were pickled in with the jalapenos. So I easily recommend Don Tortas on the south side of Central Ave a block east of San Mateo as a good spot to hit up for a breakfast, lunch, or dinner sandwich & really fine agua frescas.

One word, wow! Thank you Yelp, another great find. I saw their page on Yelp and I knew I needed a torta right away. I rolled in and couldn't make up my mind. The lady working the counter was so nice and helped me make a decision. I ordered the La Toxica, grilled steak and a smoked pork chop. I also ordered fries and a large horchata. Man the food was good. My only gripe is that I got takeout so the bread was a little soggy by the time I got home. If your feeling like a hot sandwich, definitely check this place out. Don Torta is officially on my list of sandwich stops.

This place was a surprise. The food is very high quality. The Agua Frescas are the best I've had in Albuquerque ever. Seriously you can come here just to buy drinks. I had the burqueña. My only critique is the chorizo was a little on the salty side. But it did not ruin anything. This place is a top notch choice any day of the week.

The inside is clean and menu is easy to read but so hard to decide what to get! Everything sounded so good. We got the Chale and the Burquena with green Chile. We were really happy with both options. Definitely best enjoyed fresh since the ingredients + bread could be soggy if you order delivery or takeout. The horchata was delicious and not watered down at all. We will definitely be back to try the breakfast options! Be patient, since they just opened but it's worth the wait!

From out of town and am a huge fan of tortas! Dropped in around 11AM and was the only one there but my food was fantastic! Very pleased with the flavor and quantity of food.

Don Tortas is a new business in town offering traditional Mexican tortas (sandwiches). They have breakfast tortas and also lunch/dinner type tortas; however, you can order them all at any time of the day. Their menu ranges from all type of meat: chicken, pork, beef, sausages and chorizo. I recommend getting the potato chips as a side for your torta, but you also have fries as an option. There's a great variety of aguas frescas that would perfectly go along with whatever torta you order. They had a great opening event and I'm confident they will succeed as they have traditional food and amazing staff.

Best torta of my life! Recommend the #13 La Rancherita. It's pricey but worth it. Huge sandwich. The watermelon agua fresca was also amazing and worth the $. Great spot, very nice and clean inside.

We went today looking for something good to eat and we found this amazing place .. Marina suggested some Tortas and they were just to die for ! Really great place ! Very clean , food is jimmy and the service on point !

10/10 very fresh!! Worth the tiny wait. Patience is key to great served food! Definitely will be coming back!:)

Though I'm not vegan I was very excited at the prospect of having a good meal that is vegan. Unfortunately, we had disappointing experience. Food: so-so... I had the triple patty, lucky burger, my partner had the double lucky double burger minus one patty. We shared the lucky fries. The total was just under $30. My partner eats light, but he did not realize how thin a single burger actually was. He said if he went back, he would definitely have the double patty next time because that's still not equal to one patty in most places. The triple lucky that I had was just messy. I ate it with knife and fork on the paper that covered the tray on which it was served. Between the messiness, the soft bun (not toasted) and having to use a knife & fork to eat it off a piece of paper covering the tray on which all the food was served was not a great eating experience. Finally, the french fries the lucky fries, was just the regular basket of fries with their lucky toppings. The amount of toppings was so light as to be ridiculous given the amount of the up charge. Service: Zero charm, Zero finesse! I, in principle, DO NOT ever leave a gratuity with my order on these iPads where the order is taken totaled and paid for. Simply put, tipping before service makes no sense to me. There were two females working the counter and serving the food. The only pleasant moment in all of it was when the female who took our order also served the table. She put the tray down and was very sweet in her presentation, which was brief. We both could not help thinking it might have been because we had the cash gratuity sitting out on the table. I have no way of knowing if that was it or not, but given the quality of interaction with these two females up to that point... I did address this with them both before we left. I feel like I was gentle, but also to the point. When a female apparently became so upset that she had remove herself and the second female hung in with a lot of bravado, making an absolutely insincere apology... Ending it with "I don't know what else to say". My response to that was "something with a little sincerity would be helpful". Ambience: the lounge area was very inviting, but unfortunately, when we entered into it, the gentleman behind the bar informed us that it was closing for the day. The dining area was more than sufficient comfortable no complaints. Apparently, we've missed the hey-day of the Lucky Goose because based on this experience, I would guess that it is on its way out.

It does get busy during the lunch rush, but the line moves quickly and is well worth the wait. While the banh mi definitely steals the show, there are plenty of other options on the menu. Their banh cuon, thin rice noodles filled with ground pork and wood ear mushrooms, was good, though still second to the sandwiches. I believe we all liked the interior deco and the ambiance of the place. The oak floors are truly beautiful. The lighting is a bit intimate which I prefer to high intensity lighting. The drink menus were alright. My friends loved the martinis and cocktails. I found the beer options to be limited. The one wine I wanted to try was unavailable, but I found another and had 2 glasses. The wines are priced at an acceptable range ($7-10). The food menu is a bit limited, but we all found something to eat. I opted for just an appetizer (artichoke + pita). One lady had their pasole, which I guess was the soup of the day. She thought it too spicy. The three other folks had salads, entrees, and dessert. BTW, they did not have an actual dessert menu but the server listed several options which they found appealing. So, the guy who had the ribeye steak ($54) though it just ok. In fact, he took most of it home. The other two had the elk medallions ($30). They found the portions of elk to be sort of tiny. They thought the potatoes were excellent. They sauce that smothered the elk was pretty spicy, or so I was told. Would we return? Sure. I would give it another try. How was service? Good and a bit slow coming out of the kitchen. How busy?
