I do enjoy this place. I have to say the beef stew is out of this world. After I have some I catch myself still thinking about it, yes it is that good. This restaurant was recommended by a friend who's from Las Cruces. When you walk in the colorful decor takes you to a different place. Our meals came with free soup which I've never had before at a Mexican restaurant. The soup was quite tasty. Everything was yummy, although the beef ribs I ordered was a bit tough it was very flavorful. I especially loved the fresh horchata. I have loved this place for years and never got around to writing a review - today is the day! Delicias Cafe serves mouth watering authentic Mexican cuisine. Read that again - Mexican, not New Mexican. In other words you can find many tempting flavorful sauces and not just the standard red or green offered at most restaurants in town. I have never had anything I didn't like at Delicias. The caldo de rez (beef soup) is served with every meal but I often get the large entree serving because it is so amazing. Feels like it is healing me from the inside out every time. The chiles en Nogada are fantastic and a must try - chile rellenos but not fried, filled with ground hamburger, pine nuts, and spices, covered in a velvety walnut cream sauce and sprinkled with pomegranate seeds. The shrimp cocktail is also the best in town in my opinion and I've tried it at many many restaurants! On top of all this the staff is always friendly and take care to get your order right. Plus, the restaurant is an artistic delight to look at - colorful hand carved and painted chairs and tables, no two alike. The Caldo de Res is top tier!! Full of veggies and beef served with a bowl of their Mexican rice and corn tortillas, which they make fresh on the premises. The women who serve are friendly, bilingual, and know about the food they serve. The ambiance is like a fiesta with the most colorful tables and chairs, as well as their artwork. I met some friends here for brunch and had been excited to try it when I saw a new place had popped up in this location. The old restaurant that was in this spot was one of my absolute favorite brunch spots so I really wanted to see what the new owners had done. I wasn't disappointed, the decor is a lot of fun and the food was delicious. I tried the spinach omelette and it had lots of fresh veggies in it along with the hash browns and refried beans. The hash browns were done just right and nice and crispy and not oversalted or soggy! Our server was wonderful. Her English wasn't great, but that was fine, it gave me the opportunity to practice my spanish and she was quite patient with my flailing (and would switch to English if I really got lost). So let's just say both our language skills were good enough to get the meals ordered no problem. I think if you're a straight up English speaker you wouldn't have any issue either but I enjoyed the opportunity to practice. She was great about coming by and refilling the drinks and checking on us. The prices were completely reasonable and I will be back to try more things! read more

Delicias is a good name for this restaurant.   I like the food and it couldn't have prettier seating which you'll see in the photos.  Chips and salsa come with the meal. So does a yummy vegetable, beef, and rice soup. I've never had that at a Mexican restaurant before.  I went today with a friend. We each got the Wednesday Special of 3 Tacos (chicken,  shredded beef, or ground beef) for $12.  It also came with rice and beans.  The salad was just a little shredded lettuce on top.  If you order the exact same thing on a different day without the Special, it would be $15.29 so I think it is a good deal.  I ordered one chicken and two ground beef.  The chicken taco was better.  The waitress was very nice and did a good job. The only thing I would change is that the prices, other than the Specials, are on the high side. Still, I'll be back many times. read more

Loved this place for breakfast!! Best we've had in Albuquerque. It is pricey for mexican food. Decor and booths were very colorful and fun to look at. Enchiladas Montadas ($14.54) - 2 eggs atop 3 enchiladas. Eggs were coked perfectly and oozed out all over the enchiladas....heaven! Huevos Divorciados ($13.24) - 2 eggs atop corn tortillas red and green sauce. Served with a corn chorizo quesadilla. Delicious!! Chips and salsa were so good we purchased some to go. Service was good but my wife did speak in spanish. I could see some reviews mentioned language barriers. We will be back! read more

Came for their Menudo and Pozole! Besides Juani's, this is the only other place I know in the city that serves BOTH pozole and menudo. Cute decor inside with plenty of seating! Gotta go back to try more breakfast items! So far Delicias and Juani's has good menudo in ABQ. I haven't tried El dorado yet! read more

Cócteles de camarones are one of my favorite indulgences. IMHO, those from Cafe Delicias are perfect. They're a bit sweet, whereas other places tend towards spicy. Filled with nicely sized shrimp, cucumbers, and other tasty treats, I like to crumble up the chips they bring with their flavorful salsa and then eat the juice soaked chips along with the shrimp. They have a complete Mexican menu from breakfast to dinner. And the decor inside is beautiful! read more

Hit this on the way back from Santa Fe to the ABQ airport based on great breakfast reviews. Warmly greeted by both the hostess and waitress. Bought out a small chips and salsa, very tasty. I had the Chilaquiles Rojas and they were so tasty. The red sauce was just a little spicy with a great flavor depth. The refried beans with a little red sauce was awesome for scooping up with a chip. Wife had the same thing but with verde sauce and she was in heaven. Great experience and pretty inexpensive. Great vibe to the place. read more

Felicia's is a hidden treasure in the city. Just behind Amy's Donuts, it's easy to miss. When you open the door it looks like you have just stepped into Costal Mexico. Tables and chairs are brightly painted and it makes you happy just to sit down and take in the atmosphere. Service is prompt and the food is just amazing. Prices are very reasonable. The Chorqueso (queso fundido) is what dreams are made of--if you dream about chorizo and cheese. Served with warm corn tortillas--take about Very flavorful beans. Hash brown were crispy and seasoned nicely. Huevos Divorciados, which is similar to Huevos Xmas here in NM. The red is mild/medium but very good. The green is tomatillo not green chile, so mild/medium. Server wasn't very attentive but was pretty busy bc she had tables all over the room. Don't overlook the decor. So my lady asked what I wanted for lunch? I replied, "El Viva Mexico!" Then she says she wants me to try this place. Well El Viva Mexico it is not. The dish I wanted to try had jalapeño and onions in it. "Can I have it prepared without those?" "No." So it isn't prepared from scratch... I passed. I ended up getting three meats hash Browns and pancakes. Nothing to write home to mother about. The word for today is: disappointed. Good Mexican food in an easily accessible location with ample parking and friendly attentive service at affordable prices. The soup prior to the meal is a great appetizer and the fresh salsa with the chips are addicting. The fresh tortillas are a highlight that you'll want to jump on as soon as they arrive at the table. The entrees are pretty good, but nothing to write home about. They do have an extensive menu to satisfy whatever you're in the mood for and do a decent job with everything we've tried on it over the years. Definitely get extra salsa so you can add it to help kick up your entree; it's seasoned well enough, but most need additional salsa. The DELICIAS CAFE is almost hidden in a small shopping center at San Mateo and Osuna NE, but the authentic Mexican food is consistently fantastic for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The atmosphere is colorful and feels like you are visiting Mexico. You can see the open kitchen supercharged with busy cooks and rushing servers. Everything we ordered was delivered quickly and steaming hot from the kitchen - really great service! The food is amazing! The Deshebrada Plate was filled with grilled shredded beef, tomatoes, onions and jalapenos, and it was delightful, especially topped with eggs. The Enchiladas Suizas came with 3 enchiladas (chicken, in this case), rice, refried beans, and a side salad - everything was super tasty. The Enchiladas Verdes (with beef, rice, beans and egg) was equally mouthwatering, as was the side of beef stew (Caldo de Res) which had just the right balance of spices. And the Combo Plate of 2 Beef Flautas, Ground Beef Taco and Ground Beef Gordita was absolutely mind-blowing! Even the breakfast pancakes are large and thick, absolutely yummy with butter and syrup. Food was not cooked properly. Ground beef was served still red In the center when brought to the attention of staff we were told that it was cooked. The menudo was soo over cooked we just left it. The server had to be waved down just to get refills. Then did not return I had to walk up the front to get my ticket as we were waiting and the server was no where to be found. After paying I noticed that a 14 dollar tip was added which I wouldn't mind but at least have good service. read more

We waited at least 10 minutes and still no communication about when we were going to be seated. She left the front desk and we never saw her again. Great breakfast/brunch! My partner had a breakfast burrito and I had the menudo, which came in a HUGE bowl (I guess I'll order the SMALL next time!), accompanied by lime wedges and onions for topping. The beans were excellent, as noted by my partner, who exclaimed with delight, "They use lard!" The menudo I had was both delicious *and* incredibly filling - I made the mistake of ordering a large bowl, since the small size she indicated with her hands didn't look very large, and I was hungry. Apparently, not as hungry as their other customers! We were fed quite well, indeed. The only disappointment was that they only serve dairy milks, so I had to forego my morning cup of coffee with cashew milk... But, otherwise, everything was fantastic! read more

Great service and amazing, truly Mexican food. I see that someone else said it is New Mexican but it is most definitely NOT. This is a very traditional place with reasonable prices and you get a LOT of food. We had Tacos de Deshebrada, guacamole, tacos de Barbacoa and stuffed poblano peppers ( can't remember the name of the dish) and all were superb!
