    Close up of cocktail camerones.

Great food, excellent service. We decided to go to the new Taco Mex y Mariscos on Southern in Rio Rancho. Today we did the drive through since we were in somewhat of a hurry to get home. Myself and my daughter ordered the Cocktail de camerones, and an watermelon Agua Frescas. Oh my goodness. Our cocktails were fresh, nice and chilled, with giant shrimp, diced cucumber, tomato, avocado, purple onion, radish, cilantro and lime juice. The broth was full flavored and a little spicy. It came with a packet of tapatio if you want it more spicy hot. And with lots of crackers. Good crackers too and lots. They were SO friendly at the drive through, like seriously they greet you with a smile and really good service. You just cant find mexican shrimp cocktails anywhere and these were so good, refreshing and flavorful. The veggies and shrimp were very fresh. We'll definitely be back to try more things. Next time were going to get the berria tacos!

Omg. Didn't get to really eat as had eaten already. I will come back just to try the food. Looks very inexpensive and just good food

"Back in my day, you could buy a pack of bubble gum for $0.05!" Well sorry gramps, those days are long gone. But you know what is surprising to me? $1.25 for a taco, and a good taco in fact. My days of hitting up the weekly stop by Taco Mex off fourth was long gone when I left my old job down in the area. To come out to eat tacos would now require a 20 minute drive. Thankfully, I happened upon a Tacomex now open in Rio Rancho. This place is an excellent reproduction of my old chomping ground off 4th street. The food is just as good and the restaurant is probably twice the size. They offer a wide range of options to suit your hunger cravings at any of the three meal times during the day. They have traditional Mexican but also feature seafood. The main attraction here is the $1.25 tacos. They may come off as small at first glance, but they are capable of getting this hungry man right here full. I usually go with 3 asada tacos and 3 al pastor tacos. I typically wobble out in satisfaction. The tacos may be small but they come with a huge helping of meat. The next time you are craving some good, Mexican food and are feeling like stretching that dollar, Tacomex is the place to be.

Tried this place since I was craving some tacos. And at $1.50 a taco, I was not gonna be heartbroken if they were terrible. But I was pleasently surprised at the flavors. I would of prefered them to be a tad bigger. And maybe packed in the foil a little better. But they were still really good. And THAT is what matters. I look forward to coming back in the future

This little gem popped up on my yelp so we decided to give it a try. Quaint little place. Good variety of food on the menu. We ordered enchiladas and 7 mares soup. Pleasantly surprised. Good portions. Very tasty Chile. Soup was very good as well. Definitely give this place a try if you are in the neighborhood. Will definitely return.

This is a combination of Al Pastor (pork meat), Cabeza (head) and Buche (stomach & cheek) tacos.

This place is unassuming, I've passed by 1 million times. Very good. I wish they were a little more generous. I will try this place again.

Our attentive hostess explained the menu, promptly submitted our appetizer and main course selections, and kept us supplied with drinks while we eagerly awaited our entrees. The food is locally prepared, and the passion and expertise of the chefs is evident in the fresh, hot meals they prepare. The taste of the typical fare was beyond our expectations, and we didn't have to force ourselves to visit a second time within 7 days! The restaurant clientele included couples, families, and singles; all received excellent, attentive service coupled with aromatic items on the menu . The atmosphere was warm and inviting; noise levels from content patrons were easily tolerable. I strongly recommend this restaurant, and, if you're lucky, you'll probably see my family there when you visit! Management appreciated our comments and welcomed us back for more exceptional dining experiences!

The chips are perfect and pre-salted. Delish. Next, the queso. Chunky, tasty. A far cry from the runny white stuff we have in Alabama. That's not me complaining, each type of queso has its place. Now for the main event, I got the... drum roll... Frito Pie. This consisted of a bed of Fritos, topped with chilli, and with a tamale baked on top. It was nothing short of fantastic. Heavy, yes, but so worth it. I would like that as a comfort meal once a month. No alcohol served here. Perfect spot for a pre-nap lunch. Service was very fast and friendly. THe decor inside is classic Mexican style. Very casual.

Parking can get quite scarce and cramped during busy dinner hours, on weekend nights, and when major sports events are happening, as the restaurant tends to fill up. Service was initially just okay. Wildly different while still being so freaking amazing. There's a certain spice or something that they use in the Birria that hits just right. That's the only true way I can explain it. I can't tell if the 'consume' is chili or what from here? At Los Pookies it seems to be like a broth, but here is a thicker & spicier sauce which compliments the tacos so well. (please let me know!). It gets quite busy in here especially with it being setup as more of a sports bar, with the TV's and such. They have a shaded patio which I believe also may have a TV* (don't quote me on this part) . All the servers I have had have shown great hospitality. I will continue to return. -- Follow up before I post.. Last time I was here and it was really busy (like 30 min wait busy cuz of whatever game), I was feeling dizzy and they gave me water and a chair & made sure I was okay.. I feel especially this day and age is not something you see ever or expect. So thank you.
