Alright so this food wasn't bad at all. I would just say it seemed to be catered to taste buds that maybe prefer less spice. It was good but for my preferences I didnt think it was great. The sopapillas were amazing though. The service was quick and friendly. The dining room was packed so I definitely think theres a market for this food. Would I eat it again? Yeah for sure. Would I go out of my way for it or choose to eat it over other NM places? No, not really.

Seated quickly. Not overly packed (we have been here when parking is hard to find and there's a little wait to be seated). Chips and salsa out with our drinks. Chips are thicker, crispy. Salsa is just spicy enough. Food served quickly. My husband got the combination plate. I got Miguels Calabacitas Bowl. I love a good caldo and this was it. Filled with flavor and a little picoso. Shredded chicken. SO good.

We were promptly seated and placed our order. I had ice tea, light ice as usual. I added my white sugar. We got salsa and chips and asked for a side of sour cream. We got a 2 ounce cup of it that was not filled all the way for $1.79. Rip off. The chicken and mushroom tacos were good as well as the calabacitas in a small money dish. I had the chili rellenos with double rice. I got two well fried greasy chili rellenos with a very thick battered covering and skimpy peppers inside and almost an indiscernible amount of cheese. I really had to poke around to find any at all. It lacked flavor other than the greasy coating and a small scattering of melted cheese on top. I ate the rice and left the rellenos mostly on the plate, dissected looking for something to salvage. Not much luck there. The service was good, my meal was a huge disappointment.

Fabulous as usual. Great taste in Rio Rancho. The tres amigos is an amazing dish. The Spanish rice is delicious. It's very very good food.

Always good service and food. A little wait, but usually if there is a wait because there are no tables, it's a good sign.

For all the white people out there, how realistically spicy is the green chile and red chile?

I can't do to spicy , So I get sauce on side . Not sure about the heat of these sauces. I've only eaten there once.

It has been a while since I've been here and the quality and service has not gone down in any way. After ordering the three enchilada plate, I was brought chips and salsa. The salsa was more the green jalapeno variety and delightfully spicy. I asked for my enchilada plate to have both red and green ( Christmas ), all beans and no rice, onions on top. My order came perfectly accurate and piping hot. I am a stickler for being served food hot.. I don't like food that is barely warm, that has been sitting for a while because the server was not paying attention. This was NOT the case here. The beans and cheese came out like molten lava, and very quickly too. I truly enjoyed my meal at El Agave. The food was so good that I intend to come back and sample some other culinary delights soon. Excellent experience!

Parking can get quite scarce and cramped during busy dinner hours, on weekend nights, and when major sports events are happening, as the restaurant tends to fill up. Service was initially just okay. We waited about 5 minutes before anyone came to acknowledge our table. After that, servers poured multiple rounds waters and offered a few baskets of tortilla chips. From The Fire: Skewer options, accompanied by one or two sides, are available. Every skewer plate showcases wild exotic or rare game proteins you may not have had before: rabbit (they were out of this meat), snake, duck, bison, chicken and duck breast. Wildly different while still being so freaking amazing. There's a certain spice or something that they use in the Birria that hits just right. That's the only true way I can explain it. I can't tell if the 'consume' is chili or what from here? At Los Pookies it seems to be like a broth, but here is a thicker & spicier sauce which compliments the tacos so well. (please let me know!). It gets quite busy in here especially with it being setup as more of a sports bar, with the TV's and such. They have a shaded patio which I believe also may have a TV* (don't quote me on this part) . All the servers I have had have shown great hospitality. I will continue to return. -- Follow up before I post.. Last time I was here and it was really busy (like 30 min wait busy cuz of whatever game), I was feeling dizzy and they gave me water and a chair & made sure I was okay.. I feel especially this day and age is not something you see ever or expect. So thank you.
