Quality wise, I believe this is the best of the Range cafes. Went yesterday after a hike. Service :excellent, Food: excellent, Interior: not our favorite but love the tin ceilings! Seriously, the food is consistently great at this one . Don't often come because it's not as close for us. Do not forget your dessert. You'll thank me later

Original location alert. I love the vibe of this place, if you don't already know the range cafe is a staple of the Southwest. They have an extensive menu, however I encourage While you're at, there's plenty of art to look at it. I love this place. Some of the pieces are for sale, so be sure not have too many mimosas. I absolutely adore the banana pudding! It's the best I've ever had period. If you spill a shot of espresso on top you'll take me to heaven. Cool spot, brunch lunch dinner whatever. Service is resourceful. Even thought there's not an ice coffee on the menu, the team at range cafe were able to make it happen.

My time in Bernalillo is limited, thus the historic (#1) Range Café was the only option I had considered while passing through town. The experience was so nice that I had 3 major realizations upon finishing my meal: 1) I'm extremely full. 2) I'm now a green chili convert 3) I'm definitely coming back here again. As I understand it, this is one of its oldest locations, in which this place opened shortly after the fire of its original flagship location experienced a fire in the early 90s. They've taken the term "ordinary food done extremely well" to new heights. It might not look like much from the outside, but the place is massive. There are chairs for days and no shortage of seating options for large to small groups. I'm told that there are long waits on the weekends, which goes to show how popular this place really is. There is even a large number of staffers onsite to accommodate. I started with a cup of their famous green chile stew. It was outstanding. There were hints of spice with every slurp, but a satisfying finish to the broth and a wonderfully simmered, fall-apart chicken meat inside. The best part of my chimichanga was the carne adovada meat, but the cabbage and accompanying sauce weren't my favorite. The combo meal of my green chile enchiladas with green chile rice was fabulous. It's a messy meal, but an intensely satisfying one and this is coming from someone who doesn't consider themselves a spice lord. The prices were probably expensive for the area ($45) but the service and quality of food made it far more tolerable. I realize the menu was so extensive that I'd make no hesitation in coming back. __________ (#1) Or touristy, whatever floats your boat.

Burnt fries and little avocado pieces on my LOBO CLUB.

We've eaten here many times in the past and never been disappointed, but there's a first for everything. Tonight we picked up a couple of Lobo club sandwiches with sweet potato fries. About a third of our fries were burnt. There was no bacon on the clubs, and just a couple very small slices of avocado, and tomato. OK, I thought, you're allowed to have a bad night. There was a very large catering order going out right before ours, so I know you were busy. Then things got really bad. I bit into one of the very hard burnt fries and broke my tooth. I know you guys can do better. I will say at least the turkey, bread, and what veggies there were on the sandwich were fresh. Edit: the manager, Kathy (?), really took care of us once this was brought to her attention. We will be back!

Outstanding food, ambiance and service. The menu has many fantastic dishes for any appetite. Located on/near the Pueblo you get authentic food. Service was outstanding. I had the fried chicken with eggs and green chili gravy that was outstanding. The side of hash browns potatoes with green chilis was good too and we split that. The carne asada was plentiful and moist with the eggs and a definite must-try next visit (I recommend). This is a must return spot for me.

Breakfast was good. The plate we chose, Burgos rancheros, was a bit of a deconstructed dish with the chorizo on the side and the eggs smothered in red and green chili. I was expecting the chili to be a little more flavorful but nonetheless it was good. The coffee did have a different flavor I'm wondering if it's piñon coffee. The servers were attentive and took great care of their tables. the highlight of the visit was the cake... layers of chocolate cake, icing, cheesecake, flan, more icing, tres leches.. oh my ... it was so so good. They have fresh pastries, fresh cakes, you order desert first and get 10%off ;) And next door you get a nice gift shop with many local items and souvenirs to remind you of your time in NM.

Stopped in based on reviews and I'm so glad we did. The service was great and atmosphere was chill with beautiful artwork everywhere. I tried the tofu tacos and they were amazing! I don't even like tofu! Definitely recommend!

Well the food was delicious as always. Too bad our waitress was in a mood and took it out on us. Completely ruined the experience. I don't get many days off where I can drive down to Bernalillo to go to my childhood eatery but today was the day. Ordered something new, and as always, the kitchen delivered deliciousness. At first I couldn't hear the waitress even with her standing right next to my chair. Then we ordered nachos with the onion stuff on the side, and she said that the chicken has onions too, I tried to say that'd be fine since it'd be cooked (again, eaten here for over 30 years). She seemed annoyed with me. Basically from there, getting refills on drinks was an effort on our part. She "forgot" the dessert discount for ordering dessert first for my other dinner. We asked for 4 containers since we had a lot of leftovers, she brought 2. Asked for more for the rest of the food, she only brought 1. It just seemed like retaliation the entire meal. The bacon was phenomenal though, as were my eggs, and the nachos.

To me this is the OG of local diners. A lot of great artwork on the wall and food on the table. My "go to" is the Kitchen Sink!

We flew in from another state to see Chasing Time for the last time as the cafe is getting rid of live music. I made a reservation 2 weeks early and said we wanted a table in front of the band. 10 minutes late the put us at a huge table by the bathroom no where near the band! Forgot to give us menus, no one came to serve us until I walked back to the front desk and asked for menus Slow service and I was so upset I did not order anything. Food was okay for my friends. Lousy service and they just smiled and ignored us. When my friends were halfway through their meal someone not working there came to the table and asked if 5 people could join us as 2 of us were in the bathroom even though the food was on the table. They sat to have a drink. We left. Won't go to any of The Ranges Cafes again

Orange Cranberry Mezcal Margarita!! -Run don't walk to the Range in Bernalillo to experience their holiday cocktail menu!! Alicia, the bartender at The Range created one of the best cocktails I've had! Trust me I know what I'm talking about. Along with of course any Christmas smothered item on their menu makes for an incredible holiday experience! Cheers Alicia! You are truly a local gem:)

A lot of history and tradition are part of this restaurant. That is why we stopped for lunch on our way to a concert at Rio Rancho event Center. We arrived at the end of the lunch rush so that may have something to do with a low rating. We ordered the signature hamburger and blue corn enchiladas. The blue corn enchiladas were good but the signature hamburger was average with cold sweet potato fries. Keylime pie was better than average and if you order it prior to your meal, there's a discount. Excellent service from our server.

Back here again and really enjoyed it again! Huevos rancheros were spot on, my hubby had some shredded chicken tacos, and the waitress helped my picky teenage son get exactly what he wanted - grilled chicken and some tortillas. The service was super, and we love the look and feel of the restaurant. I took a slice of the blueberry basil pie home and had a few bites, and it was so yummy. Highly recommend but also make a reservation in advance if you can because they are pretty busy!

    Biscuits and gravy we're amazing!

This is a pharmacy/store/diner with a very good local vibe. The pharmacy has a bit of everything, from books, jewelry, and toys, to clothing, decor, and kitchen stuff. And when we thought there was no space for a diner, we found where the magic takes place just around the corner, where we were welcomed and seated. People were friendly, kitchen staff were getting stuff out quickly, and our server was ok. Efficiency was a clear target for everyone and our food was on our table in no time. For food, our friends ordered the breakfast burritos (with red only and a Christmas version), , the hubs ordered the carne adobada, and I ordered the tamal plate with red and green, just like I like I like it . Everyone was pleased with their choices. The burritos were big and tasty. The carne adobada had a lot of deliciously marinated pork and the steamed potatoes were quite a good addition. The tortilla with butter was simple yet delicious, with a firm and thick tortilla. The tamal plate was almost perfect. The red and green sauces were amazing, but I was slightly partial to the spicier green chile sauce. The masa on the tamales was firm and good. If there was one change I would make, it would be for the tamales to have more filling. Overall, we had a good experience at a very unique place! I personally wasn't a fan of the sopapilla bread, it had a bit of a sour taste that didn't sit right with me, so I didn't finish it. My husband, on the other hand, really liked it. The toppings were simple, just beans and green and red chile, tasty, but nothing too exciting. We also ordered a flour tortilla with butter (recommended by a friend), and that was really good! I actually enjoyed that more than the sopapilla. We had dinner reservations later, so we just stopped by for a small bite. The attached pharmacy was cool, it reminded me of a New Mexican mom-and-pop version of CVS and looked like a fun spot to pick up local gifts.
