A super fun and classic retro dining experience! Along classic Route 66 you have to try this place! It's extremely reasonably priced even if you get extras and a milkshake. The service is super polite, and the food is wonderful! Only negative that could happen is getting sat at a dirty table because they are fairly busy.

Nice place. It's a 50s theme and you get pretty good food. The service seems to be pretty good also. Parking is okay and is in an area that is somewhat sketchy.

Topped by while visiting Albuquerque. I loved the theming -- they really nailed the look and feel of a 50's diner. There was plenty of parking and no wait, so we were seated pretty quickly. I ordered a fried chicken sandwich with a side of chili fries and it was really good. I loved how crispy the chicken was, and it wasn't dry either which was nice. I split a strawberry milkshake and that was AMAZING. Probably the best milkshake I've had in a long time. Perfect for a hot day! The staff was also pretty friendly. Cool experience, would recommend!

We were looking for a lunch spot and came across 66 Diner on Yelp. I love diners and this spot did not disappoint. We were quickly seated and they had excellent service. They constantly checked up on us and got everything out pretty quickly. I ordered the green chile bacon Mac & cheese. It was a pretty big portion for the price & such a solid Mac & cheese. They didn't skimp on the bacon or green chile. The strawberry milkshakes were made to perfection and I love that you get to keep the excess. The parking is a bit limited in the lot but there is also free street parking as well. This place was busy when we went and for good reasons.

A wonderful nostalgic diner with absolute delicious food. My favorite is a grilled cheese sandwich with onion rings and a chocolate shake. The servers are genuinely kind. A 60's vibe is spot on. Our go to place for a great meal or snack.

Yes, highly recommend this place. The environment was fun. The food was as expected for a diner. The burger patty was par, but it was tasty. The fries were fresh and crispy The carrot cake serve a la mode was very good. And to be honest, you come here for the experience. It's like stepping into a Time Machine, where the staff wears the uniform and a smile. They were extremely helpful and friendly, especially asking for recommendations for things to do in Albuquerque.

The 66 Diner on Central near UNM is a fun burger joint. 50's inspired. Full of Elvis memoribilia and and a selection of Pez dispensers plus Betty Boop. Pastel colors and checkered tiles fill the rooms. Service is consistant. Drinks were refilled as needed. The shakes are huge and good. They pour them at the table. The hamburgers are mixed bag. Some were great and some tasted just ok. The Fries were not the best. Never the less it is an event place. Fun to look at and enjoy with your friends and family. The kids with us thought it was the best. Parking is right outside and the area seems very safe. Try this place. Look for the sign wall outside. It's a piece of pop art!

We stopped here more for the experience and didn't expect much from the food. We ordered a milkshake and a salad--both were decent. The milkshake portion was huge--they served extra on the side almost equal to what was in the glass, which was a nice touch. The place itself is very cute, and if you're on Route 66 and want that classic diner experience, it's worth a stop.

66 Diner is such a classic Albuquerque must experience. I personally love their burgers and always add a side of gravy for the fries, but the food is exactly what you would expect to find at a classic diner. They've got a decent variety of diner foods and lots of treats, including milkshakes and pies. On my most recent visit, I tried the teeny weeny sundae which was so cute and literally just a scoop of ice cream in a sauce cup with fudge and toppings. The service was great, and of course the environment is just fun and nostalgic.

Ahhh! New favorite diner in all of New Mexico! Such a wonderful place because of the decor, nostalgia, and vibes, but the food is good too! No pictures of the food listed because I ate it up too quickly. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. It was served on a soft, toasted bunch, came with onions, tomato, and lettuce. Flavorful, filling, and served quickly by friendly staff. I'm so happy that I stumbled upon this diner because I've already been back since my first stop. Later this month, I'll be back with my family and it'll be a party of 10 of us. Looking forward to it! Lastly want to note that you should be trying the pies!!

66 diner is so good! The decor is so fun and the food is even better. I ordered the 66 burger (bacon and green chile) with 66 fries (cheese and green chile). Both were very good and fresh! Our waiter was very friendly and service was quick! We were there about 4:30 on a Tuesday. There were several things on the menu that I wanted to try so I'm definitely going back in the future. They also have their own small parking lot connected to them which I liked.

Good morning on another beautiful day in Central New Mexico. Today, the boys from the VA Creative Writing Group ventured near to the heart of Albuquerque, where we lunched at the 66 Diner on Central Avenue. What a great place to visit, eat, and share camaraderie. The food was terrific, the service impressive (fast and non-obtrusive), and you can easily spend hours appreciating the historic decor both outside and inside a former Phillips 66 service station. Come for the food and stay to see all of the interesting tchotchke. This diner was once a gas station. So although not an original Route 66 diner, they have done a wonderful job creating a welcoming, diner/malt shop vibe. Located on a busy city street it's easy to fly by without noticing. We turned on to the side street and into their parking lot. Parking is on three sides of the building from what I saw. We were greeted upon entering and given a choice of seating options. The front has booth and counter seating. More booths and many tables are available in other dining areas. A small room at the back, which was the original automotive bay entrance when this was a garage, would make a good space for a small group (a dozen or so). Restrooms are near the entrance. Our waitress was very good, friendly, asked all the right questions, kept my iced tea and our waters full. We both had burgers and they were good. Fresh lettuce, good amount of toppings. My dining companion had a specialty burger and that big bun helped hold all the toppings in. For my mushroom swiss, the bun to burger ratio seems off. The burgers come with lettuce, tomato, pickles and mustard. You can request some or all of those be removed. The pickles are crisp and have a strong flavor. You have 'sides' options and 'upgrade side' options with the handheld menus. They also have entrees. Lots of chicken dishes and meatloaf. I would love to try one of their milk shakes and pies. So much food. So little time. Whether a local or a tourist this is a nice little diner.

The area looks old and poor, but near the restaurant, we didn't see anything sketchy. When we were leaving, we did see some homeless people at the main intersection, but we didn't see anything we'd describe as sketchy. We did notice there is a mobile home park behind the restaurant, but there is a wall between the mobile home park and the restaurant parking lot. Even if there were police surrounding the mobile home park, we'd still venture inside to eat. The food is that good. We shared the cowboy breakfast burrito and the Santa Fe pancakes. Both were filling and ridiculously good. The Santa Fe pancakes made with blue corn, roasted piñons, green chili, and cheddar jack cheese were different than anything else we've ever had. I'll admit I didn't love my first bite or two, but the more I ate, the more I wanted. The pancakes are dry, but if you drizzle some syrup, it's the perfect match. The accompanying eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly. The cowboy breakfast burrito is massive, filling, and worth every calorie. Even though we were stuffed, we had to get the peach with green chile turnover. We asked if the turnover is served warm and our waitress replied that she could warm it up for is. I'm not sure that it is normally served warm, but I highly recommend it. The turnover flaky, the glaze was silky once warmed up and the peach with green chile was unique and delicious. Five star service and food. I highly recommend Vick's Vittles and hope that I'm in the area again so I can try more of this delicious food.

And plenty of ways to customize your order to taste and for the size of your appetite. The main drawback, as others have noted, is that the location where they've been for decades has grown steadily bleaker, with a sketchy feel even during broad daylight. I say this as someone who lives in a rural setting but who has lived in some of the biggest cities in the world and as a person who's not easily scared off by "rough" neighborhoods. It's perfectly safe, but you want your wits about you as you come and go. Service is fantastically efficient, friendly, and thorough. Really good food, based on my single experience -- I had a pancake, an egg, and sausage along with coffee, and I ordered the "Santa Fe" style pancake. It's made with blue corn meal in the flour, along with piñon nuts and a little cheese, and it's a very satisfying meal in itself. I left full and ready to go back if I find myself in that part of Albuquerque again with an empty stomach.
