Have not been here in a minute....so thought it would be a good day to stop for lunch. They have a dark wood western style atmosphere at this location....a bit dark but still enjoyable. I started with the fried green chile strips. Very little flavor on their own but the green chlie ranch dressing helps a lot. They need to spice up the coating and not leave it so bland. Lunch was the carne adovada chimichunga with red chile, rice and beans. Again not a lot of flavor or spice. I expect red chile and carne adovavda to have at least a little kick to it...disappointing. The highlight of the meal was the creme brulee desert. Home made with a nice thick layer of sugar. Overall decent food but not exciting. The staff was great. My server was excellent! read more

We have heard about the bakery at Range with their pies, cakes, and the incredible massive cream puff. But Range Cafe is so much more. The ambiance is whimsical with characters on the walls, the cooking cow, and clouds above. On top of it all there is a killer breakfast and a knockout brunch menu. I tried several things from my family's plates and I am definitely coming back to try more of this menu. Loved the New Mexico fare. Yeah eaten here for about 4-5 years now. But wow the ambiance is subpar at best. As a cook myself for a restaurant I have to ask. Do you guys just not check your receipts before you cook an order for to-go? Nothing is correct about my order? You put the wrong cheese? You guys took off the lettuce I wanted? And added onions and tomatoes that I did not ask for? And got charge for an egg over easy but it was never put on the burger? Costed me $40 and my lunch break now I get to do a night shift at work cooking without food. It's not even edible which is the worst part, with the gross cheese you guys put all over it I can't even take it off to add my own cheese at home. As a cook I have to say are you guys like this all the time or just hate to-go orders? Make food that's edible next time please I encourage it and pay attention to details they might be small but I promise you people will love your food if you pay attention to the details and the customer order. read more

It's been 7yrs since our last visit. Maybe it's time to revisit. Here we are, Saturday morning and it's busy. Maybe a good sign? A couple of things that catch my eye in the lunch menu. But it's too early. I spied the Chilaquiles and decided that was the way to go. The flavor was good, fresh fried tortilla chips, plenty of cheese, half an avocado with eggs on top. The green chile on the side added to the taste. The wife got the Southwest Bowl - flavorful, with tasty veggies, green chile sausage, eggs, pico de gallo & cojita cheese. Service was excellent. Love this newer location: the facility, the design, the service and the food! Has a lovely patio despite it being in a busy section of town. Our party of eight called ahead and asked if they accommodate dogs on the patio and they had our table and a dog's water now all ready for us! Delicious coffee drinks, blue corn piñon pancakes, green chile hash browns, chilaquiles, regular pancakes (which are HUGE), biscuits and gravy, and a tasty southwestern bowl. My friend who lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico recommended this place for lunch. She frequently eats here and enjoys the food and atmosphere and she's right. The decor is quirky and fun which really appeals to me. Plenty of seating and plenty of parking space outside. There's a bar on one side of the restaurant. We ordered a burger and also taco plates that were fresh and delicious. The menu had a nice variety of food to choose from. The waitress was friendly and nice. In one corner, there's some unique gifts for purchase. The walls had colorful art hanging up from a local artist available to buy. There were bakery items to pick from too. I never heard of this chain and surprise to know they are also located in my state of Colorado. Definitely going back. read more

Service was terrible! Our server Raven didn't check on us once. My green chile hash browns were cold when our food was brought out. We ordered a pancake as a side and didn't get it. I was asked twice what hot sauce I'd like, I told her and when she brought it she put it down on my table with a bit of aggression. Food is great. Just traditional, down home cooking. Good selection. Everything solid comfort food, some with a New Mexican flair. Comfortable environment. Can be a little noisy, but not obnoxious or overbearing. Service is usually very good, but on occasion is sometimes a bit slow. Full bar. Outstanding desserts. I think best in the city. 5 stars for the 3-6PM happy hour at Range Cafe on Coors Blvd As of Dec 2024, that's $5 beers and $6 nachos (veg or non-veg). Rejoice! And they call happy hour "Happy Hora" which is a ridiculous Spanish cherry-pick and I freaking love it. If you give this place 3 stars, as some do for service apparently, I suggest you specify that it's not for happy hour so that mngmt doesn't discontinue the special. If one must nitpick, complain that the best t-shirts they sell aren't available in S M L sizes. Keep it real,H-Hora playa'. read more

The food is always great, rarely is there an issue and when there is, it's minor! We appreciate a clean, cheerful environment with always fun/interesting decor. Portions are generous, great variety on the menu, desserts are delicious! Occasionally service can be slow, but it's infrequent and only when they are very busy. So we came here for breakfast. We have waited for 30 min now and no food. Finally after 40 minutes of waiting I asked for the manager. She stated today they only have two cooks. I felt sorry, it is hard for business to keep going when nobody wants to work. Waitress finally gave us some chips and salsa since we are waiting and waiting. I have always enjoyed coming to the range. But is always the original in bernalillo. I have to say this one does not come close. Food was bland, did not even taste good. Not sure why this place has a lower rating than other Range Cafe's but having been to multiple, I thought this one was just as good. We had the best waitress, Rocky, she was very friendly and at tentative. I got the spinach enchiladas, while my friend got the blue corn ones. As a Mexican food fanatic, these remain in the top 2 of the list. Not to mention their dessert is also stellar. I got a pecan roll and my friend got a cream puff. The pecan roll tasted like monkey break and was so goey and delicious. Never had their artichoke and red pepper quesadilla before, but definitely will order again in the future. Absolutely delicious! I had my usual taco salad because they make the best. I am not a black bean fan, and have them substitute their yummy cilantro green rice. It had shredded cheese, salsa, tomatoes, sour cream, guacamole on a bed of mixed greens in a tortilla bowl. Yum. An update. A person did message me but tried to turn it into a "why didn't you ask for manager", etc. I am sure the "policy" is related to having had some type of legal issue with serving minors. Vertical horizontal or whatever the dates are legit. Person who messaged me apparently thought I should cause a "Karen" scene. They need to have a large sign that says "no vertical IDs accepted". I know there is a huge problem with alcohol here as well as driving but you choose to make a rule and enforce loudly by kids that looked younger than my son I choose to not spend our money there. read more

I'm not quite sure what I expected as I've been disappointed by the range many times in the past but I was shocked. I ordered a grilled caesar salad no where on the menu did it say they were going to char an uncut head of romaine. As we all know you can't properly wash lettuce unless it is cut from the base. Went in this evening to see what they offer. I'm not a meat eater but I did find a find a few things to try. My other half chose a cheese burger with fries. I decided on the (pinto) bean burrito. We both enjoyed looking around inside . My guy noticed the lighting fixture that was upside down. I can't believe he saw it before I did,lol. The lounging cow was cute and the cowboy. It didn't take long for our food to come. My plate came with green rice ( I think it had Cilantro in it) and a side of Pinto beans. Hmmm... I actually thought the menu described the rice AND beans inside the burrito . The burrito was just beans. I have to agree with other reviews that the beans lacked Seasoning but for me I added a tad of salt. All good. The green Chile that was served was lacking the heat I was looking for but I added some inside the burrito as well as the rice. Yum. My hubs said his burger needed seasoning and the bun was cold. His preference ( and mine) is when the cook throws it on the grill to warm it, but it wasn't a deal breaker. He liked that the Hamburger patty was hand formed and he could add some salt . We're trying to watch our salt intake and tonight at least we added what we needed. Overall, the portions are big, nice atmosphere AND let me tell you the Hostess and our server were VERY friendly and nice. That bar by the way looks interesting. One thing you have to watch is the prices are a bit high, but you do get a large portion. We just didn't anticipate the final bill. But like I said, my husband appreciated the burger. We'll be back. Amazing atmosphere, lots of wonderful art work everywhere. We had a whole table full of people and our server Jake was wonderful. The food was good. The air conditioning was on full blast, bring a warm jacket. When you pay at the end of the meal there is a multiple page questionnaire to take which was kind of weird. I was surprised that the bathroom smelled like a porta potty, that should be maintained better as after a lovely meal you don't want that to be the last thing in your head. Over all I guess I was a little let down. I ordered the Urban Farmer which is a beet and spinach salad and felt like the beets were the canned kind chopped up? Not sure but a tad tasteless and disappointing. Another gal had the Mediterranean Greek salad and said it was good. All the others at the table were pleased enough to finish their meals. No one had room for dessert but want to go back to try those. read more
