Outstanding brunch spot not to far from the balloon festival. The chicken fried steak platter was one of the best I ever had. All the foodcis big and delicious. It gets busy so expect a wait.
We came to Vic's Daily Cafe for brunch and it was delicious! I had the Navajo huevos rancheros special and it was sooo good. The Duke City Turkey was also great, I definitely recommend adding bacon. We also ordered pancakes, eggs, and bacon and everything was tasty. Service was fast and our waitress Brenda B. was amazing and so sweet with all her tables. I'll definitely request her next time! The only reason for 4 stars is there wasn't a changing table in either restroom, so we had to go out to the car to change the baby, which wasn't very convenient.

The biscuits and gravy were outstanding--fluffy, homemade biscuits smothered in a rich, savory gravy that tasted like it had been simmering all morning. We also ordered the pork cutlets, which were beautifully prepared: tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. Paired with the café's warm, pleasant ambiance, it made for a meal that felt both hearty and comforting. Vic's Daily Café is the kind of place that reminds you how satisfying a simple, well-executed breakfast can be.
The scouting of breakfast places continues ant this morning we tried Vic's for the first time per a friend's recommendation. The place is an unassuming, normal, breakfasty restaurant. All servers were on deck sitting patrons, bringing food, bussing tables, and smiling left and right. They were also blazing fast! I could not believe than from ordering to food being on our table, just 5 to 10 minutes had passed on a busy morning! For the food, our friends ordered the huevos con chorizo and the breakfast burrito. The hubs and I ordered the Navajo style huevos rancheros with carne adovada on top. Our server was extremely helpful as she told us that adovada added to our dish was cheaper than a side. Our friends noted that their dishes were delightful. I tried the chorizo and it was good chorizo! Not spicy but definitely had good flavor. Our dishes were awesome as well. The red and green salsas were both good, with the red being sharper than the green. However they needed a bigger kick to be perfect. The eggs were perfectly over medium. The hash browns were crunchy. And the carne adovada was a winner in this mix! Get ready for big portions, by the way! Overall this was a great experience with shining servers and good food! Only thing missing was a spicy flavors and more inviting sweet dishes (we looked around and found them unappealing, but may try some next time).
Vic's is legend. Home comfort cooking and baking from their family to yours. Great tasting and large portions of traditional American, Greek, or New Mexican. We were in town for a short time and caught breakfast and lunch. The wait is worth it and their service is cheerful, friendly, and very quick. When you walk in, the surroundings are simple, but as you take in everyone there, you will see friends, family, and business associates enjoying each other's company. It is the perfect place for gathering, enjoying a meal together, and developing relationships. Our neighbors loved their platter-sized chicken fried steak and biscuits and gravy. I was blown away by the carne abodava. It was so generous and delicious. Their pancake stack was fluffy, biscuits were light, omelets top notch, gyro traditional, Ruben tasty, and pastrami hit the spot. Now let's talk about the baked goods. The strudels were the same as those I have had in Europe. The pies XXL and the cakes just how I like them (not too light, moist, and just the right amount of sweetness) Thanks, Vic's for serving up a great time, comforting and delicious food at a reasonable price!!
During the balloon fiesta it was an hour and half wait today 10 minutes. Good! Music is playing lightly and not bad track. The portions are huge!! Wow. I was thinking I should have brought someone else to share with me. The taste is so good. Gravy was excellent. Chicken fried steak is so good. I must say I enjoyed the experience
This place has been on my must-try list for a while, and today we finally had the chance to visit. Parking was limited even early in the morning around 8:40, and we waited about 10 minutes for seating. We were placed toward the back, where the seating felt a bit cramped--something to keep in mind if you're claustrophobic. The patio area is also available, and on a 60-degree morning like today, it would have been ideal. Our waitress, Tina, was amazing--attentive to our needs and quick to take our order. She made sure all of our requests were met. The food was delicious and freshly made. Both the green and red chile had just the right amount of heat without being overpowering. Restrooms were limited, quite narrow, and could pose challenges for handicapped individuals depending on their needs. The menu, however, is extensive and offers plenty of options. Overall, I would definitely return in the future. The only area that could be improved is the customer service at the front; the host staff could be a bit more welcoming.

After years of reading the excellent reviews I finally visited Vic's! It was busy as expected, but only ended up waited about 20 minutes for a two top. We were greeted quickly and drinks were there right away! I got a hot chocolate and it was sooo good and chocolatey. I ordered the steak and eggs special which was delicious- I really love their beans and crispy hashbrowns. My partner got huervos rancheros which he loved, currently moved into his #1 breakfast spot in town! I will be back- I need to try their pecan French toast!
My all time favorite restaurant in the city! I always make a point to go here when I come back to visit. The chicken fried steak is the best around. If you get the breakfast plate be sure to add red chile to it!
Great place for food! Everything is homemade, services great, and there's a lot of seating. I will say that this place gets busy no matter what time of the day or week. He will have to wait a little bit to get seated but it's fairly quick. Around 15 minutes. Prices are phenomenal also for what you get
Stopped in for brunch and Vic's continues to deliver. Food and service were excellent as always. Breakfast or lunch you can't go wrong. And bring an appetite cuz the servings are HUGE!
Sorry for this late review....this place has been on my list to go check out for sometime and I'm saddened it took me so long to go. This is a must go place for good portions, delicious food and good customer service, not to mention good prices, plenty of seats and clean. If you're not sure what to get, anything you try will be good....at least I know it was when I went and I will be by again. Go try them, and see for yourself and while you're there check out the Billard, Darts place next door.
Always looking for local food & wife did great picking this place. The plates were huge! The chicken fried steak was big enough for a giant. We didn't have that, but the firefighters next to us did. They let me take a picture to share. Staff were great, friendly, and never let us run out of coffee. Food was very good & portions more than we could eat. Wife said her pancakes were perfect! Building was clean. Only negative was parking was tight because how popular it was. We highly recommend you stop in & give it a try. read more
I have been wanting to try Vic's for some time, I love good diner food and always look for one when I'm traveling. I live in Rio Rancho and Vic's is about 25 minutes away, so if I'm in the area I drive by and see what the lines are like, usually out the door. Today there was no line at all and several empty tables so we decided to go for it. Got right in and were seated right away. I ordered the chicken fried steak, scrambled eggs, hash browns, and biscuits. My wife ordered the Denver omelette, hash browns and biscuits. The food came out quickly. The portions are huuuge, which didn't surprise me having read the reviews. The chicken fried steak was crispy and delicious, seems homemade unlike most diners that fry up frozen premade steaks. I don't know that it is, but feels that way. Eggs and hash browns were good. Sorry to say the biscuits were quite dry, they kind of sucked the moisture right out of your mouth, even after you slathered them in butter. My wife's Denver omelette was good, not exceptional. She liked the chunky bell peppers and ham. She said the same thing about the biscuits. Service was good, we didn't sit long before the waitress arrived, the food came quick, and they got our check quickly as well. My waitress watched our table and kept my coffee warm. The atmosphere is as you would expect of a dinner. Simple, but clean. I recommend it to anyone who loves diners and has a healthy appetite. We decided to get up early and go right when they opened. And yes there was a line. But everyone was seated quickly. The portions sizes are huge so come hungry and expect leftovers. Or share. I had the French toast special which was almond crusted French toast with lemon curd and berries. The French toast was good by itself. The restaurant is relaxed and casual. Husband and I have been coming here enough many of the wait-staff at least acknowledge us upon greeting with a 'welcome back.' They are usually understaffed (like most places these days), but do a great to serve us. We modify and adapt our orders to our preferences and the servers and kitchen do wonderfully to make what we ask. We don't get too extreme (no notable food allergies but have limited things I can eat) but they get it. Food is good and consistently good. I usually order the #4 Huavos Chorizo with cheese and Christmas Mixed With a side of fruit. Husband orders El Gordo with Green Chile and Hashbrowns for the side with tortillas (He orders extra.) I also really like the Liver and Onions with Bacon. I usually choose Potato Salad as my side as Mashed Potatoes and Mixed Vegetables I can't eat. The atmosphere is Diner with a New Mexico flare and is pretty well kept. I love that they maintain the space well. This place gets packed! But the wait wasn't too bad when we went on a Monday for lunch. Just about a 25 minute wait. Once sat, we ordered and the food came out quick. Service was fast and friendly! Loved the El Gordo omelette and Vaquero chicken fried steak. Green chiles are life!! read more

How have I lived in Albuquerque my whole life and never been to Vic's Daily Café?! I feel like I've been missing out all these years--this place is so good! I ordered the #3 VAQUEROS (Chicken Fried Steak smothered Christmas-style-- of course), and wow... the flavor was incredible. The breading was perfectly crispy and well-seasoned, and the portion size was enormous--I could only eat a third of it! I even took a picture with my hand next to the plate because it was that massive. Easily sharable between two or even three people. We also tried the deep-fried green chile strips, which I'd never seen on a menu before, and they were a total hit! Crispy, flavorful, and paired beautifully with their house ranch dressing. The ranch was slightly thin, not too heavy on the dill, and just right to balance the flavor and crunch of the chiles. And here's the real proof this place is worth it: my friends, who never wait more than 15 minutes for anything without complaining, are happy to wait 45 minutes to an hour at Vic's--because it's that delicious. That says everything. Absolutely worth a visit--and now I'm kicking myself for not coming here sooner! read more

If you are looking for a place where Albuquerque area locals go, include Vic's Daily Café on that list. Based on the time of day that you visit, the parking can be a bit intimidating. Inside, there may be a wait, but the staff is really good at turning tables and providing quality food. I had the blue ribbon, meatloaf, and one of the other people in my party had the chicken fried steak. Both were large portions that leverage to go bags. read more

EVERYTHING WAS FABULOUS!!! Food was fantastic, service was fantastic, ambiance was great, lots of happy faces eating great food. I've been trying to eat here for years but the wait is always so long! Went to Vic's Sunday at 11:00 am. It was busy but we were seated after only about a 20 minute wait. Ordered the breakfast chicken fried steak with biscuits and with the gravy on the side. Best ever!! The plate was huge so I took half home. Kenya, our waitress was extremely helpful and attentive. Would like to try again during the week when they aren't as busy but still had an incredible experience. Best breakfast in town. read more

I'll just begin by saying this is an absolute gem of a spot to dine. During my visit with my daughter, we decided to have breakfast together at Vic's. And they did not disappoint! The vibe definitely comes with all of the comforts of being at home. Coffee was hot and aromatic. My really loved her cranberry juice as well. When it came to the food....all I will say is ... Dee-Lish-Us! . As busy as there were that morning, all of the servers, including ours were fast, polite and attentive to everyone I could see within the restaurant. My daughter ordered Steak and eggs which completely devoured. I had probably one of the best Chicken Fried Steaks ever. It had literally covered my entire plate. I was blown away at the portion size, in a good way. I hate to say...but I couldn't finish it, but trust me, I tried! So if you arent already aware of Vic's I suggest you gettin on board pronto. Upon my next visit in a few months, I most certainly will be coming back to this spot, because it has all of its ducks lined up in a row and the chips fallin into all of the right spaces. Vic's daily cafe is a family favorite! Although waiting does take quite a while depending on days and hours and based on your party number, but it is worthwhile wait. The price of the food is worth for what they give, fresh and tasty options at available! As well as the portions, you get your money worth. Side note: I always like the coffee there, it's never too light or dark, just right! The service is quick and great waiters/waitresses, always attentive. Great experience overall. read more

Had a great visit at Vic's this weekend! Going during breakfast time, I expected a wait. However, I didn't mind because the food is worth the wait and the wait was pleasant outside as the weather is getting better :) My party and I enjoyed our food. The party next to us ordered the Indian Taco huevos rancheros! It looked so delicious :) I'm definitely going to get it next time to share, because it was absolutely huge!!! read more

My husband and I came to Vic's for brunch last weekend. They were busy, but we only had to wait a few minutes for a table. It was a great day to sit out on their patio. We both had specials - frybread huevos rancheros for him and almond-crusted lemon curd French toast for me. The frybread was huge and so so good! He had it with red, which had a nice kick of heat without being overly spicy. My French toast was fantastic, sprinkled with fresh berries and powdered sugar with a generous portion of lemon curd plus a little syrup on the side. I loved it. Dear Vic's Daily Cafe, This was my first visit, after hearing raving reviews. All I have to stay is: WOW! Wow to great, delicious, enormous, amazing food. Wow to Amanda, my kind, sweet, attentive server. WOW to how quickly the food came out and the temperature nice and hot. Wow to the portion sizes, holy moly! Wow to the affordability (thank you, thank you). I got the Vaqueros and I separated it onto 2 plates. This was chicken fried steak, cooked to perfection and the size of my face, covered in green and red chile and cheese, served on top of 2 eggs cooked to order, hashbrowns, and pinto beans. It comes with toast or biscuits... I had the biscuits and ordered a side of gravy. This could easily feed 2 people... maybe 3! The coffee was perfect. The place was bustling on a Monday morning. I cannot wait to try other things on the menu--everything sounded great! Beautiful outdoor seating that I'll also probably enjoy in the future. Great big indoor seating. When a business has short hours you know they have good food if the can survive being open for a short period of time and Vic's is proof of that! The cake cakes eggs Benedict was so good I had never thought of adding crab cakes but just wow!! We even tried the coconut crème pie and it was probably one of the best versions I've ever had! We had a 30 minute wait but once we were sat everything came out quickly. The service was great as well as the other guest seated around us. Everyone was so friendly! I will be coming back soon! read more

Do they allow dogs on the patio?
The patio was closed when I visited for time of year considerations, but I'm guessing they would have no problem with pooches ... it just seems like that kind of place
Do y'all have vegan options? Like are the beans, rice , potatoes, tortillas and chile vegan friendly?
Most menu items contain animal products like butter, milk, egg, cream, fat, etc. however the cooks and servers are very helpful to be accommodating to dietary needs and will do their best to create something that fits your needs
