During my recent visit to Albuquerque, my daughter and I decided on having breakfast at Duran Central Pharmacy. Yeah, the name through me off too... but let's just say this lil spot is a gem . Its a small mom & pop kinda place, with good service and good food.

What a great spot for lunch! We found out about Duran's from a friend & decided to try it today. Parking was easy & I was greeted right away by the staff member near the front door. He gave me directions to go straight to the back, then left to the red gate to get my name in the seating list. I did that & was given a pager. We shopped during the 15-30- minute time estimate. This is a store jam packed with gift ideas, clothing, games, & kitchen gadgets plus more. After 15 minutes, our table was ready. We ordered stuffed sopapillas & a combination plate. My husband said that the tamale was one of the best he's ever eaten. Everything tasted great & was really fresh. Based on other recommendations, we had to try the homemade tortillas. What a huge tortilla! Delicious!! Warm & a bit crispy! 100% delicious!

The image shows a small outdoor patio area with a tiled water fountain decorated with blue and white tiles, accompanied by potted plants. The patio is shaded by an orange canopy with mesh sides. To the right, a person with gray hair is seated at a table inside the restaurant, visible through a glass door. The floor is covered with reddish-brown tiles, and there are blue chairs near the water feature. The setting appears to be part of a restaurant or cafe with outdoor seating.

Absolutely worth the hype! I had tried coming my last trip to ABQ and was disappointed they were not open on weekend evenings. Came by for lunch mid-week. While it was busy, the line moved quickly and we got to browse the pharmacy next door. The butter tortilla is absolutely delicious! Ask about the specials- and yes, you must order Christmas chili. We sat at the bar next to a local; he said he'd be coming here for 30 years. I believe it- this place is soooo yummy and prices are very reasonable.

Durans is one of the most consistent restaurants I have ever been to, and my visit this weekend was no different! I went on a Saturday morning which is a historically busy time for them, and we sat at the counter which I had never done before. Durans has an old school diner ambiance, tucked in a very cute drug store filled with amazing gifts, clothes and games. I love the bottomless coffee and my boyfriend thinks they have the best red chile in town (and he's a red chile man). Our server Laura was so awesome. She was kind and attentive and you could tell she knew all of the regulars, I even overheard her stating a customers order she had memorized! What amazing service. Overall you can't go wrong with Durans- they do have a limited menu but it is some of the most quality New Mexican food around.

My favorite Albuquerque Breakfast! Best frito pie in town and amazing owners. 10/10 experience every time I would highly recommend to tourists and locals alike.

The service was Top Notch! Our food came out hot. The chilé was fantastic. My date had the Chicken, blue corn tacos. About 4 ounces of shredded chicken in each shell. I had the Carne Adovada (additional price) burrito which you can tell, was cooked overnight. You can get it handheld too. Lots of customers however, the wait was two minutes for two of us.

Adovada - A plate contains baked beans topped with melted cheese, diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, mashed potatoes, and two types of sauces—green and red—likely served as part of a Mexican dish. The food is arranged on a green plate, with the sauces placed at the top, and the vegetables and beans filling the remaining space.

So good! Totally worth the wait!! The line can be long on weekends but spend some time in the pharmacy/gift shop while you wait. The service here is excellent and the food is handmade, authentic, tasty, and just damn good. I had the combo plate "Christmas style" (1 taco, 1 enchilada, and 1 tamale). The table ordered the adovada and the burger in a tortilla. Everything was so good. We left full with some leftovers. When you're in the ABQ come check out Duran's! You will not be disappointed.

Carne adovada plate and guacamole with chips - A red oval plate contains a serving of beans topped with melted cheese, mashed potatoes, a small side salad with chopped tomatoes and lettuce, and a small cup of green sauce. The plate is on a metal table, with a fork placed on the right side. In the background, there are additional dishes, condiments, and a person holding a drink and a piece of food, indicating a casual dining setting.

My second time here, first time on patio . They have a new beautiful mural there! The food is really good and what I would call old school New Mexican, not fancy but good. I had the Carne Adovada plate. Great and came with a flour tortilla bigger than the size of a normal dinner plate. Also great gift shop.

If you haven't been to Duran's, you need to check this place out. Whether it's for grabbing a bite to eat, doing holiday shopping, or filling a prescription, these guys have it down pat. Focusing on their diner, they make excellent New Mexican food. Over the years, I've tried a lot of different dishes and have enjoyed them all. They make great leftovers, too. The wait staff knows how to deal with busy times (which is most of the time) and is kind. There's always a line to get a table, but don't worry. There's plenty to look at and buy. I love this place for kitchen supplies, kids' games, greeting cards, casual clothing, and tchotchkes. The handful of times I've come here to get my own prescription filled or go with a friend who needs to, it seems like the prices are reasonable. They are a full-service pharmacy. They offer immunizations, including those for travel.

Durans is an Albuquerque institution. Tucked in the back of a pharmacy is a dineresque little place that puts out some of the best New Mexican fare around, especially breakfasts. On this visit I went for my go to favorite here, Huevos Rancheros, eggs over easy, smothered in green with a side of their famous sausage patties served with fresh lemon wedges. Yup, lemon wedges. Trust me, if you haven't tried them you need to. Their fresh homemade tortillas are the size of a small pizza and delicious. Durans is the real deal. I'll be back, frequently.

Fun socks in the store - The image shows a single sock with a dark blue background, decorated with a large, colorful flower and smaller floral elements. The sock has a light green toe section. Prominently printed on the sock is the phrase 'I'M A DELICATE FUCKING FLOWER' in bold orange letters. It is displayed among other socks with bright, multicolored patterns. The sock's packaging indicates it is from the brand Blue Q, made in China, and features a cartoon crocodile illustration on the label.

We visited Duran's Central Pharmacy on a Sunday around 1 PM and were pleasantly surprised with just a 30-minute wait. The time flew by as we browsed their charming and unique store/pharmacy. They carry such a fun and thoughtful variety of items--perfect for gift shopping. I can definitely see myself coming back just for that! Once seated we were quickly greeted by friendly and pleasant staff. I ordered the carne adovada with red chile, served with steamed potatoes and beans. The red chile had such a rich, flavorful kick, and the pork was fall-apart tender--absolutely delicious. My husband went with the Frito pie after spotting someone nearby enjoying it, and he wasn't disappointed. I was so into my own plate that I completely forgot to ask for a bite of his! Overall, Duran's is a great local spot with warm service, fantastic food, and a store that's full of charm and surprises. A true New Mexico gem--definitely worth the visit.

Super friendly service and great food in a pharmacy and gift shop. First time in ABQ, and first meal arriving with perfect tourist shopping after lunch. Learned about ABQ from lady working in the gift shop, didn't get her name but she is very sweet and gave me a little history of the area being a local. I regret not ordering a plato that comes with tortillas. Need to try their famous tortillas by itself next time! Will be back!

This is a beautiful location rich with New Mexico culture that is a must visit! The restaurant is located in the pharmacy and it does get very busy. We did wait for about 45 minutes before getting a table, but spent the time browsing the store and checking out all the unique souvenirs and products. Our group decided to share a few dishes as the portions are quite large. The food came out hot and fresh, and I appreciated the warm and soft tortilla that came with our meal. The carne adovada plate is a must try as the green chile provides a nice heat factor to the meal. However, the potatoes are not as layered with flavor or seasoning. The blue corn taco is delicious and blends well with the chicken and cheese combination. Overall, the staff and service were amazing and friendly! I highly recommend checking it out and getting some trinkets before walking out.

First time here going to give it a try. It's in the back of a pharmacy but very cool.
