I was able to get a couple nice things for myself as well as a great gift for a friend back home who dog sat my furry companion. The store is pretty big and virtually every inch has something interesting to consider buying. I wish the online store featured more of the items actually sold in store because I'd probably buy a cactus for myself after seeing the one I bought my friend. The salesperson also gave us some tips on where to visit while we were in the area. She was really friendly and a great resource for us. If you only get a chance to visit one gift shop in the area I'd say this one is your best bet!

The first time I visited with my husband, one of the employees followed us around the entire time we were there, making us very uncomfortable and feeling like we were being unfairly targetted as potential shoplifters. The second time I visited on my own and once I made my final merchandise selections, the employee at the register continually urged me to keep looking around. 2. There is a wide array of beautiful merchandise but it is VERY expensive - even higher than in the Old Town quarter across the street. Head south to the Mexican border to the Pink Store in the town of Puerto Palomas and you can find most of this stuff for a fraction of the cost. (And get a beautiful cheap meal in the process.) With that said, I DID get a couple of lovely ceramic crosses on sale at a good price and managed to deflect the sales patter.

Other customer she helped they ask questions same thing she said she really didn't know, but yet she didn't seek advice from any of the other workers. So if you're new to this stuff have questions and the sales person cannot answer them strongly suggest that you ask them to go get the information or get a different sales person. What made us stop was the Native American pottery and the glassware. While some pottery is mass produced and geared for the tourist trade there is a huge selection of one off, individualized pieces. Living here has made us discerning consumers of pottery. The other piece was the glassware. It comes from Makora Glass in Poland. The Shop at Old Town offers the largest selection in the US. It even comes with a satisfaction guarantee. If it doesn't fit your decor it be returned. The glassware is beautiful for see and I can imagine even nicer in the right decor. We have to find a place and color for ours. We were impressed will be back to add to our collection of pottery. If you get to Old Town adding this place to your list is a requirement.

There is almost an overwhelming amount of items here so it's good if you like browsing. The staff also knows a lot so if you have questions or are looking for a specific item you can ask away. You can also ask for a discount and haggle the prices if you think it's too much. My friend accidentally broke a Kachina doll that was already slightly broken, he felt bad and requested we come back right before our flight so he could pay for it. Staff was very kind and gave him a massive discount. He has it proudly displayed at his home now!

I also bought a small laser cut pin/brooch with the three Kokopelli dancing. It is small and delicate and I paid $8.99 for it. It is not Indian made, but lovely nonetheless. This store has a great selection of items from very inexpensive to ... well some lovely and extraordinary pieces. Any review that dismisses this store is making a mistake and doesn't know what they are looking at.
