BUT the food was DELICIOUS!! Yes, I meant to yell that! Dan chose a Ground Beef & potato Burrito Al a carte, and a Ground Beef Taco also al a carte. The food was delicious and didn't take long to be served. Dan has dialed the sizes in finally and then ordered his usual Chile Con Carne w Pinto Beans, and green Chile for lunch tomorrow. I chose the Naked Rellenos with Shrimp and they were definitely worth the price. Just what I crave. Seafood well prepared and well balanced. Now I mix my Chile Rellenos, cheese, black beans, and Calabasas add a side of some good Ole Chopped NM Chile.. YUM! Chile¡ and I have a meal for numerous days. I enjoyed our Server, but didn't catch their name. Friendly, professional yet down to earth enough to sit next to their regulars for their order. We definitely will be back. It isn't quite as close to home as Montgomery, but with transitions to El Patron happening not sure how long until this will be our closest one. read more

If you were looking for an early dinner and you want fantastic chips and salsa then this is the place for you! I love thinness of the chips and salsa, and the guacamole actually has large pieces of jalapeño, which is just the way I like it! I ordered the chicken fajita tacos and they were amazing!! Ambiance 5/5 El Patron is a popular destination for Locals and Tourists for New Mexican cuisine. The decor inside is classic Spanish architecture with artwork throughout a number of dining areas. There is also a nice outdoor dining patio in the back for parties and large groups. Service 5/5 We had reservations and our group of five was seated shortly after our scheduled time. The restaurant was just getting busy after being seated. There were a couple dedicated servers working the patio who brought our menus and took our drink orders. Food 5/5 El Patron's menu has al the popular dishes with options for New Mexico Red Chili Sauce. I recall what my Wife ordered, Blue Corn Cheese Enchilada and Carne Adovada plate. Both were delicious. Desert 5/5 We ordered Sopas with honey for our party. Food delivered - burrito was nice size, tortilla on the thinner size & stuffed. Good, but nothing to make it standout. Spanish rice was excellent with a creamy sauce? mixed in to keep it moist. The taco plate was pretty basic - street taco size with bacon mixed into the egg, then add lettuce & tomato. Service was decent. Went tonight with a group of friends. I hadn't been to this location previously, and considering the low reviews, I was concerned. Let me start by insisting they have rectified whatever was causing those, and this was one of the most enjoyable meals I've had in a long time. Making a reservation for our party of 8 was simple, and the staff courteous and attentive from the initial call through the time we paid the check. Our orders were accurate and prepared perfectly, the only item missing was a requested side of guacamole which went unnoticed because everything else was so good. As with the original location, the fish tacos and chile rellenos were incredible. In fact, I'd say tonight's relleno was the best I've ever eaten anywhere. Adequately stuffed, and the batter was the perfect texture and consistency. Crisp yet tender, enhancing a perfect, thick green chile. The Serrano cream sauce was perfectly flavorful, which I was grateful for since the last time I had it at the other location, it was so spicy you could hardly enjoy it. The sopapillas were served AFTER the meal, as they should be, hot and steamy right from the fryer, and so perfectly crisp on the edges and pillowy everywhere else. I'd say this was one of the best New Mexican meals I've enjoyed in years. I save my 5s for the truly best experiences, and tonight was one of them. read more

Surprised to see a handful of poor reviews. They may have some truth to them. However, going in for breakfast on Sunday morning, it was a great visit. The parking lot was almost full and the restaurant too. $7.99 breakfast specials is hard to beat. It is definitely a must. Food came out tasty and hot (stove hot and chili hot). Our waitress was good. Not very memorable but she did check on our party and made sure we were taken care of. Avoid this place altogether, especially during breakfast. My child's drink spilled on me, and several staff members saw I was drenched yet chose not to help. Some even laughed. No one took initiative, and it was clear the team waited for someone else to handle it. When a server finally approached, she pushed the water toward me while "cleaning," making it worse. We arrived at El Patron this morning at 10:20 AM for breakfast. We entered and were promptly greeted by a young man who said, "Welcome to El Patron. Please take a seat wherever you desire and I will be there right behind you." He arrived at our booth within one minute of our being seated and smiled, saying, welcome back. Is there anything besides the glasses of water that I can bring you to drink?" My guest ask for coffee and I stated that the water would be fine for me. He placed menus in front of us and stated he would return quickly with the coffee. He went on to say that our server would arrive quickly to take our breakfast orders. The young man returned one minute later with the coffee and creamer for my guest. As soon as he departed, our cheerful server arrived and said, "Welcome back gentlemen. Glad to see you again. Have you had enough time to decide on breakfast selections? My guest ordered the Breakfast burrito with Christmas style Chile. I then ordered the Chicken Fried Steak Breakfast with scrambled eggs, papitas and wheat toast. The server thanked us and said that she would get these orders to us as soon they got them prepared. She returned in three minutes with coffee and water refills. She smiled and said, "I was just told that your meals should be ready to be delivered hot from the kitchen in about another five minutes." Five minutes later she returned to the table with our meals and placed them in front of us reminding us that the plates were very hot so we would not burn ourselves. She went on to ask if she could bring us anything else such as ketchup, or hot sauce? My guest asked if she could bring him a bottle of Jalisco, which she confirmed and returned with the sauce one minute later. As we were both finished with our meals the very sweet server approached the table and asked if I would like a container for the food I was unable to finish. I thanked her however declined. She smiled and said in that case I will get these dishes out of your way, I will also leave your order ticket here and there is absolutely no rush, but I will be happy to process it for you whenever it is convenient. After she had removed our dishes and cleared another adjacent table she came back to the table and saw that there was a credit card placed atop the ticket. She asked if we would like her to process it or was there anything else she could get for us. I asked her to please process the card, which she did expediently. She then placed it and the credit card back on the table and said, "It sure was nice to see both of your smiling faces back in here again this week. We hope to see you again soon. Have a Happy and Safe New Year! read more

Twelve of us showed up for happy hour at 3 pm on a Tuesday. What a lovely time we had. We sat in the bar area so as to be able to order from the happy hour menu. Shane the bartender/server did an excellent job of taking our orders, executing them expertly, and then was also gracious enough to provide separate checks. He did not miss a beat. The kitchen did a good job. All the food was really good - except I admit that the angus beef sliders that I ordered were not exactly what I expected. They were too thick, the bun was too thick, and they were a bit dry unfortunately. However, all the Mexican dishes seemed to please everyone else. Lori was also gracious in helping us to get organized. This restaurant has a small footprint - which means small bar area and adjacent dining space. The menu is good, the prices are good (be aware they do add on a small inflation adjustment charge) and the service was wonderful. I know there have been mixed reviews here for this location of El Patron but trust me - we were very happy and we will surely return again. read more
