Does this look like Green Chile Stew??
    Chelly C.

I ordered a green chili stew xl and they gave me a bowl of beans and lettuce. I simply said it's not what I wanted and he insisted that's what I ordered. Then the man just stared me down. He refused to make me any thing else to eat and told me to leave. I did not cause a scene or ask to speak to a manager. But they sent the biggest and tallest man they could find to ask me to leave when all I wanted was to re order my food the correct way. The vibe there is racist. It's like they don't want any tourists or outsiders there. Not a fan of this location. They only want New Mexicans to eat there. DO NOT GO. THEY WILL GET YOUR FOOD WRONG AND DO NOTHING TO HELP YOU.

I had my first visit on Jan. 24, 2025. There is plenty of parking; I went just past noon, and it was clear from the lot that this is a popular spot. The decor is friendly and colorful, helpful and friendly staff. I was seated immediately. The tabletops display very colorful art. The menu offers many New Mexico food items; I went with tacos, beans and rice. The tacos were delicious and I had corn hardshell tortillas. The shells had a nice crunch and held together well. (ever have a taco shell break into Tinkerbell's fairy dust with one bite?). The salsa has just a hint of heat. Refried beans were perfect. The Mexican rice was fluffy and had subtle flavors. I just moved into this neighborhood and will be a regular here

I think what makes this place so great are the people who work here. It's genuinely warm people and that really makes or breaks an experience for me. We are visiting NM and came here for brunch. The server recommended the Indian Taco with green Chile and it did not disappoint. I've never had one before but it hit the spot for a savory meal which is my jam. Casual vibes for sure and lots history on the walls. We enjoyed our time here and were all so stuffed but hopefully we can make it back one more time before we head back to California!

Solid New Mexican food in a large portion. My favorites are sopapillas baskets (4ea in a basket). Eating those fried, soft pillows with honey...yum!! (Even for my meals the next day!). We also got enchiladas and flautas plates. You get to choose your sides. I thought the food was quite good. Huge portion though! We got pretty good service when we dined in. Ok service when we ordered to pick it up. I guess it depends on how busy their staff are, etc. P.S. they close early at 3pm on Thurs! We stopped by once to have dinner and it looked like ghost town in a parking lot. I thought it was strange to end Thursday (not Mon or tue) service early when it's starting to be peak dining out towards weekend!

I was pretty impressed with this restaurant. Staff was helpful, attentive and friendly. Atmosphere was nice and food was excellent. I thought the price was very reasonable for the amount of food I received. I ordered the combination plate with a taco, tamale, enchilada, rice, beans and soppapillas. Everything was excellent. The menu has other items that were also tempting such as the nachos, tostadas and burritos which I will try next time.

Holy moly red chile! Had the red chile enchiladas con Chicharrones. Been to Garcia many times and I don't know why I've never tried this particular dish. Amazing!

Stopped in for a quick bite and the green chili stew hit the spot. Spicy but not too much. Great service too with a real hometown feel.

Great place for nuevo mexicano food. We were there for brunch and the bfast burrito, chiles and sopapillas did not disappoint.

Service was absolutely unavailable. It took so long for someone to greet me. I wanted a glass of cold water so desperately it was painful. Not so soon after a drink I was searching for chips and salsa- no luck. Starvation set in. Food was good. I just wish the service was better. I had heard great things and gotten several recommendations, I wish I had a better experience.

I selecte Ramona's to be my first spot, and it was a great decision. Came to find out, this is a second location of a locally loved spot, this one was near Old Town which I was going to spend time in for the day, so that's why I chose it. This location opened recently, and feels like walking into a family home for breakfast. It's a good size, with potential for a lot of outdoor seating as well. I received excellent service, not over-bearing, perfectly attentive and kind. Helped me make my big breakfast burrito decision. I got it with chorizo... and man oh man, this thing was a monster. I could not finish it, especially given that there were more fries on the side with more cheese and chiles on them! I would have preferred rice or beans, since there was already plenty of potato inside the burrito. It was too much delicious food... never a bad thing. I guess as an outsider, while I love the chiles, the inclusion of just standard grated mixed cheese all over everything was a bit much for me. Where I come from queso is like a white cheese sauce, but that is why you travel and try! I admit, I would have liked the cheese just on the burrito instead of spilling onto my fries, it made them a bit soggy. The burrito was enough alone and definitely the star. While I am sure if I visit again, I'll visit new places, I would not hesitate to be a repeat visitor here if I were a local!

We took a stroll around old town Albuquerque. And decided to look at the menu at Church St Cafe. We decided to give it a try. The hostess walked us through a door into the restaurant, which went on forever with beautiful, cozy, quaint rooms filled with people that eventually led to a beautiful patio. We were in shock when we eventually sat down by a pond with waterfall. The decor was spot on with perfect New Mexico south west style. The server, Mico, was the best. Their red, green, and regular salsas were wonderful. We ordered a top shelf margarita and a spicy margarita. My top shelf margarita was the WORST margarita i have ever tasted. It cost $20.00 for a small gross tasting sweet margarita mix with no hint of resposado tequila or other ingredients that make it a top shelf drink. Mico was sweet and took it off our bill. She was curious and asked about why I told her it was the worst. I asked if the margarita had agave, Grand Marnier, Cointreau, lime juice, resposado tequila. (I add a little OJ and pineapple juice) Church st cafe has a license to only carry New Mexico brands of liquor. They do not have the ingredients to make a Top Shelf/ Cadillac Margarita. I wish we Wouid have know. I Wouid not have ordered a cocktail. Proper expectations make the experience better. The manager, Marie, spoke with us. She was very nice. She explained how they make it and their restraints with their liquor license. This cocktail could be made better and the price dropped. But after listening to Marie, it seems that "it is what it is" and will not be fixed. I hope they do try to make a better margarita to match the beauty of the space. The ambiance of this place is so cool. We will go back to try more of their food with no cocktail and sit in one of the cozy rooms.

The first was the roast beef dip with chili as the au jus and it was wonderful. The queso is also outstanding as is the salad with the cranberries--crisp, fresh and tasty. The fried ice cream is superb. The second meal was the Pueblo burger, which was a hamburger on fry bread. It was truly awful. The patty was gray and utterly tasteless. I think it was one of those frozen premade things. It leaked grease which made the fry bread soggy. The lettuce on it was butt end bitter romaine that was wilted and had turned slimy the longer it sat on the fry bread. I gave up on the whole thing pretty quickly. I suppose I could have raised a fuss and asked for something else but I just wasn't up to it. (I am here because my husband is in the VA hospital and I am pretty drained.) Had anyone at any time asked how it was, I would have told them. My advice is to have one of their excellent margaritas and enjoy the beautiful patio, and stay far, far away from any hamburger.

Nice choice of fancy high-end margaritas, but their mix is way too artificial tasting, without much if any fresh lime juice. The cheap margarita mix and industrial tortillas alone would have been enough to prevent a return visit. We have done so much better on previous visits here. On top of that, service was in full-on meltdown mode. Table next to us, which had been seated and served drinks before we arrived, was having words with the server about how long their food was taking. "Will it even be hot," she asked. After we had ordered and been served drinks, and ordered and been served food, they finally threw a few crumpled bills on their still-empty table and walked. My combo plate was completely wrong, and my wife's fajitas lacked the sour cream she ordered and the tomatoes and pico de gallo that were supposed to come with it. Wait staff blamed the kitchen rather than owning the mistakes on behalf of the restaurant. Took five minutes, and two requests, for my wife to even get her tiny container of sour cream. Table on the other side of us also had some problem; we heard the sever telling them that some item they ordered would be comped. They did comp my combo. But that's three adjacent tables poorly served. Not coming back.

This is a pharmacy/store/diner with a very good local vibe. The pharmacy has a bit of everything, from books, jewelry, and toys, to clothing, decor, and kitchen stuff. And when we thought there was no space for a diner, we found where the magic takes place just around the corner, where we were welcomed and seated. People were friendly, kitchen staff were getting stuff out quickly, and our server was ok. Efficiency was a clear target for everyone and our food was on our table in no time. For food, our friends ordered the breakfast burritos (with red only and a Christmas version), , the hubs ordered the carne adobada, and I ordered the tamal plate with red and green, just like I like I like it . Everyone was pleased with their choices. The burritos were big and tasty. The carne adobada had a lot of deliciously marinated pork and the steamed potatoes were quite a good addition. The tortilla with butter was simple yet delicious, with a firm and thick tortilla. The tamal plate was almost perfect. The red and green sauces were amazing, but I was slightly partial to the spicier green chile sauce. The masa on the tamales was firm and good. If there was one change I would make, it would be for the tamales to have more filling. Overall, we had a good experience at a very unique place! The attached pharmacy was cool, it reminded me of a New Mexican mom-and-pop version of CVS and looked like a fun spot to pick up local gifts.
