I haven't eaten at Garcia's in ages but when my folks suggested giving it a try again, I was all in. I got the carne adovada burrito plate. It was absolutely delicious. I had it smothered with red and green chile and it came with refritos and Spanish rice. Everything was fantastic. The service...we went through the drive-through and there were a couple cars ahead of us. The person taking our order asked us three separate times for our order. I'm not sure what the issue was, but finally another person came on to take our order. There didn't seem to be a language barrier and we were speaking clearly so again, I'm not sure what the issue was but it wasn't a big deal. We received our entire order, as ordered. I can't comment on the ambience because we didn't go inside. Every time I've been inside Garcia's though it's been clean and tidy. I will definitely be visiting Garcia's more often. I stopped here on my way to work and got a breakfast burrito. I was surprised by how they charge and build them here. You pay for everything like cheese, potatoes, meat, chili, etc. The burrito itself was alright but nothing that's my favorite. They have better food. read more

Garcia's is one of our absolute favorite eats- living in MD, when we arrange our NM visit, we plan out multiple visits to run through all our favorite menu items- my family lives 5mins from the Garcia's 4th street location, they are our normal go-to spot, but arriving in NM around 6pm, we were dismayed to discover our favorite spot closed at 3pm- so we traveled to this location, which was open until 8pm- while both locations offer the same delicious menu, this location let us down just a bit on our 'tried & true' quality food love- ordering our favorite chicharron stuffed sopapilla & chorizo breakfast burrito smothered in xmas chili with rice & beans to go- we were saddened to discover their xmas smother was not the traditional red/green chili but a salsa- we apparently were supposed to specific chili- they also didn't put on top lettuce, tomato, onion garnish unless specified, they had an unexpected ground beef in both -in addition to the meat we selected, and their rice/beans scoops were a lot smaller overall, the meal was still delicious, as expected from Garcia's Kitchen, but it was very different from the quality we know from 4th street- and I wouldn't opt to branch out here over there again read more

Every Saturday, I head to this location for breakfast or lunch. It is wonderful. One time, I had to wait for five minutes at the window while they sang happy birthday to one of the cooks and had cake. It made my heart happy. It is so New Mexico. So real. Their tostadas, nachos, Chile rellenos, burritos, Indian Tacos, enchiladas, all delicious. The staff is kind and courteous, and patient, I've literally never had a bad experience in 19 years. This is just a review on the hand held burrito because that's all I've tried from here. The burrito was a bacon green chile cheese potato burrito. There wasn't barely any chile so I can tell if it was hot or not. The burrito is mostly potato and egg with a piece of bacon at each end of it. I would pay $5 all day for this but at $9 it's a little expensive for what you get. I have to mention the tortilla on my burrito was really tasty. Looking forward to trying something else sometime. I came in around 7, mid-dinner rush. Drive thru line wrapped around and pretty much out into the street. The employee running the register was holding a full-blown casual conversation on the phone. He could've been talking to a manager or supervisor, but either way. The least he could've done was step away from the register, or say something like "be with you shortly." I stood there awkwardly for a good 5-6 minutes before he got off the phone and finally took my order. Would I come back? Maybe, for an Indian Taco. Definitely not this location though. read more

The service at Garcia's Kitchen drive-thru on San Mateo is horrible. I tried to order a lent special and was told that the "special today is the Indian Taco." When asked if they had fish, I was told "only fish tacos," so I ordered a fajita burrito. When I got to the window, there were three offerings of fish specials. I asked the very rude cashier, why I was told "only fish tacos," and she very rudely said, "First, I did not take your order," and I don't know why you were told we only had fish tacos. Then, I was told I would have to wait because fajita burritos took longer, and when I said I did not want to wait, she yelled at me, "you ordered a fajita burrito and that takes longer. Ordered the Combination plate with a red enchilada, green tamale and soft shell chicken taco, they gave me a a Red tamale with melted cheese( the cheese was not part of the description) and a hard shell taco. The horchata comes out a machine and doesn't have that homemade taste. The tamale was really good and the chicken on the chicken taco was nicely seasoned. How have I never reviewed this Garcia's location? I eat here way more often than I should probably admit. My obsession with Garcia's started back when they had a location inside the Student Union Building at UNM. Alas, that location is no more, so this one is now my go-to. I can drive through and get food, get home & eat it, and get back to my office with about 3 minutes to spare on my lunch hour. I always get the same thing, which is the chicken flauta plate, upgrade to guacamole dip. (Dip is actual guacamole; sauce, the thing that comes with the plate, is green liquid that has some dairy in it. Probably sour cream. It's not bad, but I'm dairy free now and can't eat it.) It's delightful AND it's cheaper on Tuesdays and Thursdays due to the daily special. The location is a little hard to get in and out of, which is why I almost never park to go inside. Always a great place for a NM meal! We love, love, love their queso! I always have the brisket tacos because they are yummy! The brisket is cooked perfectly. We love both the refried and whole beans. The sopa are yummy too! My husband loves the burritos because they are large and the ingredients all mesh well. The guac, chips and salsa are all wonderful. Try Garcia's I think you will love it! We always call in our order and go through the drive thru so I can speak to the interior of the restaurant. Also, when I called to notify the restaurant, instead of being apologetic for the mix up, the lady argued with me, it was totally over her head. Poor customer service. I generally get take-out from your incredibly efficient drive-thru at this location, but I have eaten-in here many times, and also your location on 4th Street. You never forget my side of sour cream, and for that I am eternally grateful.
