I stopped by there today. I wanted a breakfast burrito with green chili. They used to be so good. Not now. They boil the potatoes that they put in the burritos! That changed the flavor of the burrito. Papas are supposed to be fried, not boiled!!! It was awful. Go back to the old ways. Not the faster way. They could have toasted the potatoes to make it seem like they fried the potatoes. They tasted like the potatoes when you are making mashed potatoes. Not for burritos, for mashed potatoes yes. I have been coming here for years. Probably at least 3-4 a month. Notably the service has been getting worse and worse until a crescendo of the worst service I have ever had. It took a long time for the waiter to get our order, but when he finally did, the food came out fast. That's where it ended. We got no refills for water or ice tea, we ordered pancakes and never got our syrup. Never got honey for our soapapillas. Never got napkins... So we decided to leave....but could even get a box. I had to get up and go to the server station and get the boxes. Oh yeah, could even get the check... luckily the front desk guys was able to find it. Epic failure today. I've been coming to Garcia's for now over 30 years with friends and family. And most of the time it's been really good. Nothing much to complain about. They close at 3 PM but we got there between 130 and 140 pm I believe that's plenty of time to get something to eat and they still have time to close. It's been a long time since I've been here, but after eating our late breakfast, I am reminded of how good it has always been! Had the way was rancheros with green chili and sopapillas. I couldn't finish the plate, although I gave it my best effort! Establishment is clean and the weight staff is super friendly! Moderately priced you can't beat it! They have salsa, Bisco, Cheetos, tortillas and other items for sale at the register in case you want to bring some home. I would highly recommend the tortillas! I ordered the chicken nachos, and the chicken was flavored well, but the cheese sauce was subpar, nothing I would rave about. It reminded me of the cheese served at a concession stand. The sophapillas were fantastic. I have had them in other states, and the ones in New Mexico are by far the best I've ever tasted. Garcia's on Juan Tabo and Comanche has been a Sunday breakfast spot after mass for 12+ years. Yesterday what was a normal breakfast meal, took a unthinka turn for the worse. Good was ordered by a new waiter, food came out wrong, no problem it happens. Asked to add the red chile and cheese on top of the burrito that was ordered and was lacking. "General Manager" said she'd fix it in a very unprofessional manner. 5 minutes later literally dropped the plates on the table, zero customer service, no common courtesy as one should have in a customer service industry.As it was addressed to her that the way this was handled was rude and all that was expected is understanding and willingness to fix the matter. This general manager will not get my business and this will not be the last place I give reviews. 12+ years and a 9 year old girl celebrating a moment within our faith left crying as if she had done something wrong. Think twice about supporting this location. Rude management is unexceptable and damaging to your business. As much as Garcia's was a destination spot after mass, another establishment will get our weekly business. Shame on her! read more

Ordered breakfast. The Menu has changed from the menus shown in Yelp. Two eggs, diced potatoes, a very big sausage patty, and pinto beans and instead of toast...sopapilla's! Chili on the side, Christmas (red-green). Everything was wonderful. I've never seen a sausage patty that big. Service was simply amazing from a waitress who had been there 20 years. I closed my eyes every time I took a bite of sopapilla...they are little puffy clouds from heaven. Beans were buttery. Eggs were good, and the sausage was amazing. I'll be back for sure. The portions were so big I had two more meals from home. I sat near the front door, next time I'll sit by the windows because the ambiance there seemed more cheery. I usually don't come to this location and every time I am reminded WHY...Had to chase silverware down never got a refill on my coffee so I asked if the coffee could be taken off tab and Manager said with a roll of her eyes "Ill give you a discount but I won't take it off". I've been a regular at this Garcia's for over 20 years. Even did take out and the mask silliness during the pandemic b/c it was important for me to keep them in business. I go to the grocery store and even understand why the portions have gotten smaller and they've discontinued putting cheese on their beans. The food is still wonderful, imo and the specials serve more than enough food to start my day right. (happy face!) Recently, this restaurant has had some personnel turnover and the service has gotten a bit shaky. Hence losing a star. It isn't bad, just not the level of pampering that i'm accustomed to. Because of this, my tipping has become more rote-instead of roughly 30%, I'm doing a straight 18-20%, but I know that none of the servers are overpaid, so I feel a bit guilty. This could be solved by serving lemon in my water, making sure the order's correct before it hits the table, not forgetting that sopas need honey, and checking to see if we need more water, coffee, etc. I look forward to having breakfast there for the next 20 years, which is probably longer than many of the new employees will stay. read more

Garcia's on Juan Tabo is my favorite restaurant in Albuquerque. Until the last two visits it has been a real pleasure. The food, service, ambiance, all have been great. The visits in question have seen eggs massively undercooked, food not hot, meat tough and the servers (both new) evidencing very little interest in providing service. My gratuity has been less than usual because it is based on service (I was a waitress in my youth and usually overtip). I hope this is a little hiccup and will straighten out. In future visits I will be more careful who is my server. read more

Lovely quaint restaurant to get breakfast 24/7 and very quiet and cozy Monday through Friday. Their booths are big with nice dividers and the staff is super friendly and nice. First for reading the first menu next for not knowing what I wanted when I was called to the counter for service. It was clear both ladies has Atittude to customers even though it was not packed. The burrito had the egg, bacon, and a smaller amount of cubed potato (which is fine for me to have the less potato and more egg/bacon). It was smothered with the green chili and cheese on top. Breakfast time! And what's breakfast without some chips and salsa? I like the salsa since it definitely isn't shy about the heat. The chips were warm and fresh so that was a definite plus. I got the chicharrones breakfast with eggs over easy and green chile on top and on the side. Oh and sopapillas at the end. Thinking about the chicharrones still makes my mouth water. Mmmmm. There was a perfect balance of meat to fat that was further enhanced by the green chile. My eggs were cooked perfectly, nice and runny, and again, were enhanced by the green chile. In case you can't tell, I like green chile. Chad got a bean and cheese burrito smothered with green chile and a side of baby cakes (hot cakes shaped like Mickey Mouse!). After ordering, our food came out in less than 10 minutes. April our server came to check on us often and totally hooked us up with enough green chile to temporarily satisfy Chad's chile withdrawal. It's fresh and cheap and just plain good! I definitely want to go back and try the chile rellenos!! Update: I got to try the chile rellenos smothered in green chile. I can now die happy. read more

Went in to place a to go order and what I saw was disgusting at best. They were more interested in contact tracing then in the personal hygiene habits of their employees. They want us to give phone numbers but could care less if employees wash their hands between guests. I watched in horror as a employee not wearing gloves collected all dirty dishes (did not wash hands) and collected food for the next table. Yuck germs are spreading and they are worried about my phone number. I walked out and did not place my order and will never order from this place ever again. read more
