Golden Pride continues to be a reliable go-to. While this part of town can have its issues, they seem to handle things well and provide a steady, welcoming experience. The food is always well prepared. Their breakfast burritos are my usual order, and knowing the tortillas are made in-house (some locations have a tortilla machine) makes them even better. When timing lines up for me to have dinner or lunch, their fried chicken and ribs are also fantastic. The restaurant is simple and homey, a barn-shaped building with a few Southwestern decorations. Came here on our way to Nashville. This time at another location. It was full of diners but that's great for business. Not a long wait & very good food! Awesome decor too. Lots of arrowheads & Old West items. Best tacos here, which is what I got & my boyfriend got the brisket plate with potato salad & green beans. Well, I have had really hit or miss experiences with this place since writing the review, and recently I had a pretty upsetting experience. The workers at the drive through seemed frustrated/ overwhelmed and I told them they got my order wrong, so they took it in and pretended to "fix" it. They literally just fucked around for 5 min when they could have replaced it, and brought me the same thing with the receipt ripped off. Also, I got in the 2nd lane as both lanes were open and it was moving dramatically slower than the 1st lane. Once or twice a year I treat myself to G.P.'s affordable rib plate with 2 cole slaws. When their ribs are good, they're great--as good as any at any price. But they are not consistent. Sometimes they are only okay, but good enough to satisfy the craving. A few days ago, I experienced the bottom end of the spectrum. The ribs were so bad I should have sent them back. They were so overcooked they were very crispy black all over and the meat so dried out and stringy and more like jerky. The slaw was also a loss this time, chopped up in such a way that it had a really unpleasant texture and required very long sessions of vigorous chewing just to swallow it. To be served such felt contemptuous--like the people who live in this part of town don't deserve any better. read more

Since I retired I don't go there as often since there are no locations close to where I live. Today I went to the university area location on Lomas and ordered 4 breakfast burritos. I usually go to the Golden pride across the street from UNMH. There, you have a man I wish I knew his name, but he always makes a corny little joke that just make sure the customer leaves smiling . I work nights so he's there at night again I wish I knew his name. Now this location, on the other hand, receives three stars for food, and a one star because of one of your employees she's a night worker I believe her name is Gloria. The drive through moves pretty quickly. Orders aren't always right--so double check. However, if they do give you the wrong thing, it will be tasty because, like I said, the food is good. Well here we go again. I thought I would try Golden Pride again, since it has been awhile and it has actually gotten worse. I ordered the number 11 with sausage and green chile. The burrito was soggy with very little sausage, underprepared eggs, mushy hashbrowns, and little chile. They are now using these very cheap foam cups, and if you order the large drink, the cup does not fit in your cupholder. I mentioned this to them and they just shrugged their shoulders. Well I've been coming to Albuquerque for 13 years and this places is always buzzing and busy. So tonight I have it a try! I can see the appeal to this place it's very reasonable priced. They make their own tortillas which I should have tried. I had the ribs because they are a rib and chicken place. Ribs are fall off the bone but sauce is bland. My family usually loves Golden Pride here on Central and we've had some very nice meals from there in the past. I've noticed though ,as of late ,the breakfast burritos are pretty skimpy on the breakfast meat. Bacon is Kleenex, thin and the pieces are very small . I ordered a sausage burrito recently and there was negligible sausage in there. I'd rather they just up the price $.50 and give us some decent breakfast meat in the burritos. read more

On our road trip moving out west, we asked a friend of ours from Albuquerque where we should stop for lunch. She recommended this place and said you can't lose no matter what you order. From barbecue to New Mexican and a variety of things in between, we had a difficult time deciding what to eat. We ordered a couple of breakfast burritos, a wet burrito, some mac & cheese, and a couple of the cinnamon buns. We recommend all that we ordered! And we had to eat the cinnamon buns the next day because we were so full. Creamy mac & cheese was worth it. The breakfast burrito was pretty tasty. The wet burrito looked delicious and my husband said it was great. Right now there is no inside dining so we were going to use the drive-through. Our van was too tall to make the clearance and so we called and they graciously accommodated us by coming out curbside to deliver our food. We tipped well and told them we appreciated the accommodation. If we're ever back in Albuquerque, we will come here again. Next time we will try the barbecue. read more
