Service was great--super friendly and fast. Ambiance was chill and casual. Prices were comparable to similar concepts. Too bad the food was disappointing. Group consensus was an overall lack of flavor except for the overly salty bacon. Patty texture was tough, bland preformed frozen patty. Buns were nice and soft but sturdy enough to support, which is a plus. Sadly, the tots were also lacking. Not just saltless, they didn't even taste like potato. After a long walk I found myself hungry and indecisive on what I wanted to eat. It had been awhile since I last had a burger. I walked in and saw the wide array of options on the menu. They even offer chicken sandwiches! Not to mention the staff was pretty stellar. After reviewing the menu I settled with the 505 Green Chili Cheesy Burger and coupled it with fries and some of that three cheese sauce. The burger needed some extra sauces. I added some ketchup and some of the cheese sauce. The chili wasn't very spicy but I still enjoyed it. The fries were very crispy and fresh. Overall it was a pretty good lunch. It is a little on the pricey side I must admit. All that sent me back a little over 20 bucks. Although the food was fresh and quality was fairly good, I just can't justify spending that much often. Had never been here before and the wife and I just needed a little something to hold us over for a dinner reservation. We ordered a burger and fries and were going to split it so we wouldn't get too hungry before our reservation. The very kind lady taking our order asked if we were splitting the meal and made a note on the order to cut the burger in half on separate plates. The order arrived with the burger cut and what looked like 2 orders of fries instead of 1 split order. Both the burger and fries were well prepared and delicious. I had medium, and the burger had a good sear but cooked to perfection. Juicy. Had very good thin-sliced bacon which had a lot of flavor and bleu cheese. Long time coming. Pay $10-15 for the same quality burgers you get on the last vegas strip for $35-$60. It can seem pricey, but the quality is worth it. My daughter ordered the cheesy burger combo and they asked how she wanted it - medium, well done, etc. How many burger places do that?! I used to love coming here all the time before the pandemic happened because of their amazingly swift staff and great burgers. I also can't forget to mention all of their sauce options! We came here for dinner and there were a couple of people ahead of us in line and it didn't take too long for them to get to us. I usually order the Cinco, which is one of the best burgers I've had. This time I got their special, Fried Pickle Burger, and I have to say I was pretty disappointed. I asked for avocado slices, medium-well temp burger, and no cheese and I only got one of those things. The burger was burned and charred and their was no avocado. We shared a basket of half and half fries and they were a little overdone and cold by the time we got them. The sauces are great still and helped save the day, but I don't know if that's enough to come back here again. Lastly, the place was just dirty. The bathrooms could use a deep clean and the trash area was gross and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in days. They were pretty slowed and it looked like they had plenty of workers so it doesn't seem like a staffing issue, which would've been more understandable. The food was good, not great. Especially for the price that was paid.. I've had better burgers for less. There were CHUNKS of jalapeños in my burger that were not fully sliced. I had to pull apart the "sliced" jalapeño and spread them out through my burger myself.. the onion strings tasted burnt and salty :/ As soon as I walked in I noticed the many many dirty tables and the little bits of trash and food all over the floor. I took the opportunity to try somewhere new to me: Burger 21, a Winrock satellite near Target and Indian School Road. I ordered the green chile cheeseburger with a side of fried onions and a strawberry shake. After tax and a tip, the total was nearly twenty bucks. Pricey, even for this kind of fast casual dining. They called my order number after 10 or 12 minutes. The presentation was appealing. I took a couple photos and dug in. The burger was cooked medium rare just like I wanted. The green chile didn't have much flavor, unfortunately. The slice of smoked gouda was flavorful but perhaps Monterey Jack would have been better after all. The fried onions made for a tasty side dish. I tried a few sauces as well, favoring the Thai ketchup above all. The shake was cold and smooth, with plenty of strawberry chunks. I didn't finish it: by the end, I was feeling the calories. Overall, not too bad, but not quite for me. If you like a greasy, self-indulgent burger, give it a shot. read more

If you read my reviews, you likely know that I am somewhat of a 'burger connoisseur', and my long-term friends will tell you this has been the case for as long as I've been able to order for myself at restaurants. If that means anything to you, I'll tell you right up front that I believe that Burger 21 is the best burger in Albuquerque. I've been labeled as a frugal person and Burger 21 is one of a small handful of restaurants I'll pay to have delivered to my house. That's how much I enjoy it. I recently had the pleasure of calling an audible among our frends group when the wait at the nearby Red Robin and BJ's turned out to be 40 minutes. Worried that the lack of table service would be a killer, I tentatively suggested Burger 21 and was surprised to hear that no one else in our party had been there before! As we were attempting to eat before a movie at the Winrock IMAX, my suggestion was accepted. Every single person in our party was excited by the expansive list of choices and interesting flavors offered, and every one of them said the food was incredible. To be fair, the atmosphere is high-end fast food, and the cost is low-end restaurant (it's not exactly cheap), but I personally think that the love they put into each sandwich alone is worth the minor inconvienences those issues present, not to mention their perfectly cooked fries, or the sauce selection (try the Thai Ketchup)! I have experienced issues in the past with the way things were cooked or missing or wrong items from an order, and even experienced relatively slow service, but none of those things even occurred to me enough to prevent me from wholeheartedly recommending my friends and family try it. So if you love burgers and fries and are willing to take a chance, I think you just might find the best burger place in Albuquerque. read more

My husband and I both got the impossible burger. It comes with red onions, tomato, and lettuce on a brioche bun. We both took off the tomato and onion. I added pickles and avocado. We got fires to share. High points, they have lots of sauces for your fires. The apple cider sauce was delicious! Real avocados was a plus! The fries were good but nothing special. Low points the burger itself was mushy and blah and seemed undercooked. I have had the impossible burger before at other restaurants and loved it. Neither my husband nor I came away feeling satisfied... which brings me to the other low point, the price,... it was $28 dollars for both burgers and fries. Which seems a little high for what you get. At other restaurants I can get the impossible burger for around the same price with a side included. The epitome of average. We came to burger 21 for dinner with the family and I can't say we will make it a point to return. We ordered 2 kids burger combos, a Tex-Mex Haystack with sweet potato fries, and a 505 Combo. My 505 Cheeseburger was ordered medium rare and although it looked appetizing on the outside, the inside was disintegrating as I ate it. Rare or "barely cooked" would have been more appropriate. The bun was a mass of enriched white plainness - no toasting, no butter, no frills. For a green chile cheeseburger, Albuquerque has high standards and this just doesn't match up. The kids burgers were little more than something you can find at McDonalds or Burger King - but for nearly $7. My wife loved her Tex Mex Haystack (ordered Medium), so I guess the menu might be hit and miss? On the plus side, they have a wide variety of sauces and that's different. I'll admit, at first, I was a little hesitant to try Burger 21 out. I'm not the biggest fan of chain restaurants. My husband and I ordered our food, and I was bummed to see how expensive, two burgers, and one shared order of fries was. When they called our number, and I got up to get the food, I was taken back by the food presentation. I was like, dang our burgers look good! And the shared order of fries was huge. Our food was delicious, and we ate every last bite. I must say I'm impressed and will be returning for more. The price of the food totally doesn't bother me anymore. As long as the food is good. There was one thing I do have to complain about. The place was pretty dirty. Empty tables had food and trash on them. I had to wipe down our own table. And the bathrooms were really bad. I had never heard of this place, I had to stop at Apple for an issue with my watch, saw this place and decided to give it a try. I got the bacon cheesy and an order of fries. The food came out pretty quickly and it looked good. Lots of crispy hot fries and a good sized burger. Burger comes with cheese of your choice, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, and something called 21 sauce. I have been living in N.M. for 15 years now, and I'm still not a chile fan, I just can't do spicy. The 21 sauce was tasty and had a bit of a kick to it, not too much, just right. It made one tasty burger. They ask you how you want your burger cooked, which I really appreciate, cause I don't want my burger mooing, I like it well done. Ehhhhhhhh. I took the fam and my dad to taste the newest option on the gourmet burger frontier a few weeks ago. Got a Swiss and mushroom burger for me, burger bites for my dad and the jr and sr chicken strips for the kid and hubs. It was... ok. Took about 15 minutes to come out. They led with the milk shake for the kid (orange which was delish) and the rest of us had time to gather from a wide array of dips and garnishes for our meals. The cups were tiny, which is a bummer. Nothing like paying $10+ for a burger and not being able to use more than a teaspoon of ketchup due to the tiny tiny cups. Bummer. Overall, it was fine.
