I absolutely love that the burgers are not turbo salty; that has been the folly of many smash burger establishments I've visited in Abq and Denver so no complaint from me there. My only compliant was my burger was pretty over cooked, but that won't stop me from going back. I think Smash and Shakes' fry sauce is a tremendously tasty accomplishment and the sauce on the S.O.B. was also great. That said, I think you're appealing to the Abq crowd well, but I'm interested to see how it measures up to the upper class crowd of the area East of Tramway. I don't like Bob's burgers, but they killed it with cheap burgers and chili. Your prices are very competitive, but I bet that location and loud lit signing outside is turbo expensive, I do wish you the best of luck. I stopped by this place with a friend for lunch. I got the Burqueño burger and she got the Classic. We both got fries. If you are looking for a smash burger, this place is great! They offer single or double burger but I think even the single smash burger is enough for a meal. The chopped green chile on the Burqueño was an excellent addition. The fries are gluten free and fried in a separate beef fat fryer, and they have gluten free buns available as well. The milk shakes looked delicious, but I didn't have room to try one. You can either sit in the restaurant or take next door to Boxing Bear Brewing if you want a beer with your burger. I would definitely go here again. The only reason I am giving a 4 instead of a 5 is because the steak fries weren't really crispy. They were fresh and hot from the fryer though, and my friend loved them so might just be my personal preference. Prices are reasonable and there is parking right out front. One of the best burger and fries I've had for a long while, very accessible and easy to park, you order at the counter and the restaurant staff bring the food to the table asking if they can bring anything else, the restaurant is comfortable and allows easy conversation! We tried this place for the first time on Sunday 2/15. Service was great: however the price of the food compared to what you actually got was not very solid. We got the regular fries, green chile cheese fries, burqueno lettuce wrap burger and the rojo burger. The rojo burger had great flavor but for the price i think i could have gotten more meat on a fast food burger. The lettuce wrap burqueno was barely a burger at all without the bun. The wife was not impressed at all. She also got the regular fries and it was just ok. I got the green chile cheese fries and it was good but enough cheese to plug up an elephant, lol. I think the main thing lacking in all aspects of this place is just quantity for the price you pay. We will most likely not be returning and I think the hype is overrated. We took our food next door to enjoy at the brewery. I'm not a huge burger person but the burger was good. Let's just say be prepared with a lot of napkins. I did enjoy the onion rings and fries. This was our first visit to this restaurant. The service was good and the food was pretty decent. Both burgers were cooked properly and were hot. The meat could have used a bit of seasoning and more sauce. The fries could have been cooked a bit longer and needed salt. Onion rings were really tasty and awesome texture. Sadly the malted strawberry shake was way too sweet and really soupy. the staff member tried remaking another but the ice cream just wasn't hard enough to produce a firm milkshake. The problem with the burgers here is that they put waaaay too much of whatever condiment comes on the burger. It's either waaaay too much green chili, or pickles, or onions, or special sauce, and if there are multiple condiments, forget it. The potato bun is small and it absorbs everything and gets super soggy and slippery and nothing fits in it so everything just spills out. It's also too much flavor wise. I mean, I like green chili on my burger but I don't want to just taste green chili. And it also changes the texture. I like grilled onions but I don't like it to feel like a grilled onions sandwich. Not to mention the texture of the soggy bun. Their fries are good, though. The shakes are pretty good. And really, the burgers aren't that bad either. It's just that they could easily half the condiments. It would make for a much better burger and experience. read more

The highlight fir me was the sweet potato fries with red marshmallow sauce. We greatly appreciate the fries being gluten free and having a gluten free bun available since one in our party has celiac disease. Went with the family excited to see how the Tako Ten burger expansion selection was like. We were impressed with the other burgers on the menu, recommend the SOB with green chile, probably best one in the city. Fries were great, love the beef tallow, and the red chile marshmallow sauce goes great with the sweet potato waffles. Service was quick and all the burgers, fries and shakes turned out excellent. Was looking for a place to get dinner and decided to give it a try. Just delicious smash burgers and malts in an era of overpriced fast food. You'll need to wait a good 5 or 10 minutes, and unfortunately no online or over the phone ordering, but if you're not in a hurry why pass it up? Also next door to boxing bear brewery that does not have food, which is a pretty cool place. Interior other than the brewery next door is fairly pleasant, if a bit small. We went to eat dinner there in 04/30. My husband and I love trying new places to eat. Especially local eats. The pictures on the website really looked delicious. But when we got the food we ordered it was meh. Nothing really stood out it was pretty basic. I think I was expecting a little more. I had the classic and it was pretty plain, my husband had the Burqueno and it was soggy and fell apart. We also shared the cheese fry's and it was soggy and it looked plain also.
