Visiting from out of town I was on the hunt for a good mushroom burger and the internet led me to Holy Burger. Service was incredibly slow and the music on the patio was far too loud so I had to sit in an area that was pretty dusty and had not been wiped down that day. Despite ordering my burger as "plain and dry", tomato and lettuce still came on the burger and I had to disassemble things to get the tomato juice mopped up and off my burger. The flavor was decent but something about the burger kept it from being good, and I can't pinpoint what it was. The bun was a bit odd texturally as well. The fries however were GREAT!! If I was in the area again, I would absolutely order the fries here, but likely get a burger elsewhere. The table next to me seemed to be regulars and were over the moon with their food, so your mileage may vary. I think it's worth checking out at least once to make your own opinion. read more

Don't waste your time! We showed up at 1:00 pm, only one other table seated. Place was empty. Placed our order and while waiting, watched our waitress eat her own lunch behind the counter (yes a burger with her hands). That did it for us! Never ever should you do that and then to not wash your hands and serve us our food. Brioche bread was old, burgers should have been piping hot but were barely lukewarm and dry. Fries and zucchini weren't brought out with our meal but afterwards. Older "Manager" looking guy standing around playing on his phone watching all of this transpire. Pretty darn good burgers. The food came out fresh and very tasty, the jalapeño burger was raging hot! But so tasty and savory! The unique fried avocado burger was also pretty tasty as well, not very fond of the sweetness but nevertheless still very pleasing to the palate. We ordered our burgers medium well and they were grilled to perfection with the perfect pink center. The wait staff was kind but we had to ask for drink refills. I've been coming to holy burger since back before when it was still holy cow. I hadn't been in quite some time, but I recently came for a friends birthday dinner. They've always offered some of the best fry options around, including the option to split between regular fries and sweet potato fries. I also really like their fried zucchini. I did feel bad because it seem like they were a bit understaffed. Although we had made a reservation for a larger group, they didn't have it on record, but they were still able to get us out really quickly. I ordered these mixed fries to split with a friend along side a holy cow burger, and a chocolate malt. It's funny because back in the day they're five dollar malts used to seem very expensive but now it's on the cheaper side at $6. I will say I was a bit disappointed with the burger itself. They are back and boy am I happy about it. Holy Cow is my favorite burger joint in the 505. Everything they make is top notch but the best thing they offer is the Guinness Milk Shake , which they told me actually uses Le Cumbre Mimbres Stout , vanilla ice cream , whip cream and chocolate swizzles. A very busy morning/afternoon gave me an appetite for some dirty food, and this was exactly what I wanted with the dripping burgers. The shake also topped up my glucose stores, and the grease on the onion rings and fried zucchini sedated and relaxed me. Highly highly recommended the salted caramel pretzel heavenly milkshake. I wouldn't get the roasted red pepper and goat cheese burger again; it was good, but I think there are better flavors. Holy cow burger and green chile are commonly ordered. Service: perfect balance between attentiveness and giving space. Ambiance: sat outside where I was hugged by the quiet, calming heat. Not many people on a late Saturday afternoon. Called this place and made a reservation for 10 people. We show up for the reservation and they said they didn't know about it. The person whom I believe was the owner was super accommodating and super fast at addressing it immediately. We got a table in 5 minutes! I ordered the mushroom and swiss burger with green chile and it was soooo delicious. Everything is so well proportioned and the meat was so delicious. We ordered a half sweet potato and half normal fries and it comes with a yogurt sauce similar to tzatziki as well as ketchup. We also got a caramel salt pretzel milkshake and it was sooo delicious and not too sweet. Even though there was only one server, everything was quick and clean. I had been interested in trying this restaurant, but was disappointed. I ordered the blue cheese burger ($13.55, no side included), my husband ordered the holy cow burger ($13.05, no side included), shareable french fries ($4.75), and a soda apiece. The total came to $40.95 after tax. I ordered my burger medium-well, which came well done. On each of the burgers is chopped lettuce (like at fast-food establishments) instead of leaf lettuce. I couldn't really taste the blue cheese, though I could taste the crispy bacon. The burgers seem to be more about presentation than taste. Instagrammable, I suppose, but unless you can unhinge your jaw you're not able to eat it unless you cut it up. There were two cooks and three servers on duty. There were six tables of patrons, five of which were two-tops. The table of four guests were friends of the staff, or perhaps off-the-clock staff themselves. Either way, the working servers were much more interested in chatting with their friends than serving patrons. It wasn't that they were busy; each server had two tables apiece. Serving non-friends just wasn't a priority. Our server checked on us one time after dropping off the food. After waiting for the check that didn't come, I ended up walking up to the bar and closing there. I had wanted to find a good burger place in ABQ, and I'm still on the hunt. My burger was overcooked without enough blue cheese and had cheap chopped lettuce. I'd likely have given it another try (maybe it was an off night?) if the servers had even remotely cared about the patrons, but that wasn't the case. I can get a mediocre burger with an employee that doesn't care at any drive-thru in the city, but at least that won't be $20 a person. read more

It was weird to see so many open spaces in the parking lot when I first arrived. It was weirder to see all the open seats available when we walked in. Guess the virus is scaring everyone enough not to come out anymore. Anyways it was strange but nice to have the place to few people especially for a weekend when usually it's the opposite. Soon as I saw the mushroom Swiss on the menu my mind was made up then and there. My dad ended up ordering the holy burger because it was the "holy" burger jk lol. These guys did not disappoint! The burger was perfectly cool just as asked. It was juicy, the bun was buttery, and the shrooms were perfectly sautéed. I savored every bite. The bun wasn't soggy at all considering how juicy it was. It was lightly toasted, soft, and buttered. The fries were thin cut, and perfectly cooked. Nice crunchy and soft they were quite tasty. The only thing they lacked was salt. Luckily it was readily available at the table and we could sprinkle it over the fries. Next time I'm in the mood for a burger I won't think twice coming back. Every bite was so so good. I love a place that offers mushrooms on a burger. I love shrooms and because it's not often found at many burger restaurants, it's my go too immediately as soon as i see it in the menu. Really wanted to love this place but the food just didn't measure up. :/ I will say we did love the zucchini bites and the fries were plentiful, but the burgers just left us lacking. We got the green Chile cheeseburger (I barely tasted any green Chile) and the fried avocado burger (which was surprisingly salty but lacking in flavor at the same time. We asked for pink in the burger but didn't get any, and the patties seemed somewhat small compared to the buns, which were kinda dry so they flakes apart on us as we bit into them. Overall, the food and staff present well, but our tastebuds left disappointed. Also, there was an abundance of flies in the place, which we were told were in season (odd). I have to say, The Holy Cow Burger really hit the spot. And their salads are really darn delish, too, who knew?!?! Average pricing is around $10 +/- per burger, fair enough, it would be nice if the fries were included, but, that being said, I'm stoked about the local beers on tap.
