Restaurant Week 2025
Erin S.

Selected Duo for the first restaurant to try for 5280's Denver's Restaurant Week for 2025. This restaurant was selected based on its recommendation from the Westword's 100 Best Restaurants in Denver. Upon entering I really enjoyed the set up and decor which embraced the farm to table menu. My experience was very meh and underwhelming. The dishes selected sounded incredible but were really average on plate. I selected the lamb bolognese as my first course. This was tasty but the pasta was a little undercooked and crunchy. For my main dish, I selected the Lion's Mane Mushrooms. The tempura mushrooms were prepared well, and while the flavors of the squash, pesto, orange and bean dahl were fine, they did not mesh well with the tempura prepared mushrooms. The dish in and of itself was fine, but I was expected more of an incredible experience for $55 rather than just a typical meal I'd expect at some chain restaurant. For dessert, the flourless chocolate torte was the only choice for me. The rosemary ice cream was the best feature of the night. Sad to say, I have had better tortes from other restaurants. Our server was very sweet, but the time between course 1 and course 2 was over a half an hour. Again, forgiving to the server knowing that this was the first night of Restaurant Week. I would try Duo again to see how their regular menu plays out. FYI - there is a liveable wage gratuity for kitchen staff added to all bills.

Service at Duo was unmatched, server was very attentive and nice. We got the buttermilk fried chicken, dill gnocchi and salmon. The dill gnocchi was incredible and out of the three was our favorite. Highly recommend this farm to table restaurant!!

Came here for restaurant week a couple months ago and everything was very tasty! It's the perfect farm to table restaurant to visit if you are in the area. Our service was very nice and answered all of our questions. We got one of everyone off the restaurant week menu to be able to try a wide verity for things. Everything was super delicious and we were super full by the time we left. I want to come back to check out their regular menu!

Food looked great, but the seasoning and technique were disappointing. I ordered the Lion's mane mushrooms and they were tough, overcooked, and lacked flavor. The quinoa cakes they were presented on top of lacked seasoning as well. I ordered the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The ice cream and sauce were delicious. The cake itself lacked flavor.

Went here on a Sunday afternoon with a reservation and had no issues with it! We were also given the option to sit inside as the reservation was for the patio. We ordered the brisket Benedict (replaced the potatoes for a salad) and the French toast and everything was eaten! The restaurant had a french toast and really like that they have a small patio section. The service was fast and easy and liked our server!

I went in with high expectations because of all the hype of this farm to table restaurant, sadly, there were more misses than hits. I realize opening night of Restaurant Week can be challenging so I am a forgiving dinner in those circumstances. We were seated quickly and our server took our drink order right away. She also informed us of the kitchen's preference to take our order for all three courses at once and they would time the meal, so that was great. My cocktail, the Wise Man, was a smooth blend of tequila, mezcal, lime, sparkling wine, and sage. This is where things started to stall. The restaurant was not full at the time, but tickets were backing up in the kitchen. It took about twenty minutes to get our appetizer course, which was reasonable even though mine was a mostly cold course of smoked trout toast (very good, highly recommend). It took another forty-five minutes before we got our entrees. I went with the special from their regular menu, the Duo of Lamb - two pomegranate lamb ribs and a lamb meatball on a bed of saffron couscous. There was an interesting cinnamon like spice on the dish that overpowered most of the items (I believe it was the urfa biber labneh). The flourless chocolate torte was rich like a brownie and the rosemary ice cream and cardamom poached pear were a nice complement. Head's up. Duo also charges a living wage for kitchen staff. The food was fine but not necessarily something I would crave or go back for. Perhaps it was just an off night.

Interesting place. Very cool venue, waitress was fabulous, entrees were delicious, as were dessert and wine. Appetizers left something to be desired (prawns were way too salty, salad was way too bitter) but otherwise very solid meal & very solid spot

Such a cute spot...not to big not to small! My husband and I came for brunch, and it did not disappoint. Biscuits and gravy and smoked trout toast...so good!! Service was spot on, and the dinner me u looked amazing as well. Can't wait to come back!

I went here with a group of 6 for brunch. We had reservations and were seated right away. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and thought they were really good. The table ordered coffee and didn't realize we'd be charged by the pot until the bill came. We had a couple of misses....I ordered a mimosa that I didn't get and there was an issue with the bill, but overall good.

SWEET SUNDAY* confit mushrooms & leeks | swiss chard | mustard cream sauce | grilled ciabatta | crispy potatoes

My husband and I went to Duo for brunch on Sunday. We made reservations, which is a must on the weekends. It was packed. Our server was very friendly and the food is amazing. The food took a while to come out but like I said, it was very busy. That is my only complaint. The restaurant is cozy and the exposed brick gives it an industrial feel.

Nice cute spot in LoHi. Convenient location and good French and south inspired options for brunch - cider pork Benedict Really good for what it is. I wish the pork had more layers of flavors. The dressing was awesome - croque madame 100%. Highly recommend! Dressing was yummy too - scone Pastry available for brunch too. A nice plus Friendly service

I liked that the happy hour was just discounted items from the regular menu rather than a completely separate menu. The food was pretty good. I tried the tacos (yum!) the ahi tostada (so good), the squid fra diavolo (a little salty), and the artichoke fritters (just okay). Their frozen wines are good too. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and attentive. We let her know that we both have celiac disease, and she immediately reassured us that there were plenty of gluten-free options and explained the precautions they take to prevent cross-contamination. We started with the Queso Fundido as an appetizer. It came out quickly and was absolutely delicious! For dinner, my daughter and I decided to share two entrées: the gluten-free Fish & Chips and the gluten-free Lobster Mac & Cheese. The Fish & Chips were some of the best gluten-free fried fish I've ever had, crispy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The Lobster Mac & Cheese was also very good, although it was quite rich, so a little goes a long way. The gluten-free pasta they used held up really well and had a great texture. Our favorite part of our meal was dessert! We got the gluten-free apple donuts with ice cream. They were absolutely delicious!!! Overall, our meal was wonderful! Everything came out exactly as described, the service was great, and we left very happy. If you're looking for a restaurant that takes gluten-free dining seriously, especially if you have celiac disease, I would definitely recommend giving this place a try.

Absolutely Exceptional…read more Jack's on Pearl exceeded every expectation. As Texas transplants, we've enjoyed some incredible steakhouses over the years and have traveled extensively, but this was truly one of the best dining experiences we've had. We even drove up from Colorado Springs for our 18th wedding anniversary, and it was worth every mile. We started with the wedge salad, which was fresh, crisp, and packed with flavor--easily one of the best wedge salads we've ever had. The warm bread service was incredible and paired perfectly with the house-made spreads. The mac and cheese was rich, creamy, and absolutely unforgettable. The highlight of the evening was the Wagyu steak topped with cheesy potato croquettes. It was cooked to perfection and so tender it practically melted in your mouth. Every bite was packed with incredible flavor and was one of those dishes you continue talking about long after the meal is over. What impressed us most was that every single item we ordered was exceptional. The quality of the ingredients, attention to detail, presentation, atmosphere, and service were all top-notch. After reading some of the reviews beforehand, we weren't sure what to expect. In our experience, this restaurant is incredibly underrated. Our meal, service, and overall experience were outstanding from start to finish. If you're looking for a special dinner, anniversary celebration, or simply one of the best meals you'll have in Colorado, Jack's on Pearl is absolutely worth the visit. We will definitely be back and will be recommending it to friends and family. Thank you to the entire team for making our 18th anniversary so memorable. -- Andrea & Sergio

On my 2nd visit, my friend and I shared the Rocky Mountain Oysters appetizer because when you're in Colorado you have to have them! They're lightly breaded and fried, so they have a nice crunch. The horseradish dip is tasty! Service was excellent both visits! They kept my iced tea glass refilled and were quick with anything I needed. The pulled pork sandwich was really good, especially with the texas toast it came on. My drink was good if you like sweet drinks (I do). The peach crumble was delicious and was perfect on a hot day (it comes with ice cream). It did come out fresh, so it was hot. It was pretty cool inside and the decor fit the theme. It made it feel like a nicer restaurant. We ate inside just since it was hot out, but they had the misters going in the patio. The service was just okay.

We were so excited for this, but SHEEP was incredibly disappointing. The "main" portions were very small (2 small-ish prawns as a main) in a 4-course menu. None of the dishes were standout. I thought the tomato starter was interesting; my husband said the bread was the best course :/ . Dessert was really weird - beautiful, but it had such an off-putting taste. I only ate a few bites and the rest was trashed, untouched. (Same with most of the prawn dish.) One was the biggest issues was that service was lacking overall. No one checked for dietary restrictions or allergies at the start of the meal, which definitely should have been done. After the starters, service got very slow (without anyone coming to explain the delay) and silverware sat uncleared between the main and dessert course. It was difficult to hear the explanations of each course and the server, though friendly, quickly ran through a laundry list of ingredients and sometimes seemed to struggle to remember all of them. After the first course, I'd also asked for flowers to be left off future dishes (though beautiful, it was a dietary restriction that I needed followed), but the prawns came coated in blossoms, so we barely had any of that dish. No one explained until it was cleared that they were chive blossoms. I'll also note the flower garnish is present in every dish and prominent in many dishes, and not included on the menu. After all of this, a hefty bill arrived with a mandatory 22% tip and a service fee for dining on the rooftop, where the restaurant is located. Really disappointed. The experience has put this once-longtime fan off this restaurant group.

A lot could improve here…read more We waited over an hour for a patio table for our party of six because we had our two small dogs with us. The patio is first come, first served, so we understood there would be a wait. About 20 minutes in, we decided we'd rather just get our food to go than continue waiting, so we ordered at the bar. We were told we couldn't get our food to go because there was no one available to box it up in the kitchen--they were too busy. However, they could bring our food out in baskets with some boxes so we could box it up ourselves... because apparently putting food in boxes is harder than putting it in baskets, and it makes more sense to dirty a basket instead of boxing it up. Their logic--not mine. We eventually got a table, and then waited another 20-30 minutes for our food. After an hour and a half of waiting, our food came. it was COLD. Cold. After waiting that long, how is the food cold? And somehow, while my food was cold, my husband's burger was RAW, items we ordered were missing and we were given items we didn't order... The food was overpriced, bland, unexciting, and honestly just disappointing. The servers were kind when we interacted with them, but essentially nonexistent. Not one person checked on our table--or, from what we could see, the tables around us. Water was self-serve. Drinks were ordered and picked up at the bar. We ordered our own food at the bar. Then, when we checked out, we were asked if we wanted to leave a 25% tip. Hahahaha. For who? Who exactly am I tipping? We literally received no table service, and you're suggesting a roughly $30 tip? I'm sorry, but no. This isn't our first time here, but it will definitely be our last. I'll give a smidge of grace because it was a game day and obviously busy--but not much. If you can prepare a special game day menu, you should also be prepared for game day crowds and have a plan to provide an acceptable level of service. Waiting this long for unexciting cold food, a raw burger, virtually no service, and then being prompted for a 25% tip is ridiculous. Not impressed. At all.

My husband devoured his steak and thought it was prepared exactly as he liked it. The goat cheese and fig beignets were subtly sweet and I would recommend it, even for people who normally don't reach for dessert. What stood out to me during our meal here was the superb service. Our server knew the target demographic very well. One of the first things she asked us was whether we were attending a show that evening and if so, what time. That way, she could make sure that our food would come out on time and we didn't have to stress about making it to our show on time. Thanks to her service, Rioja is at the top of our list of restaurants to pair with an evening at DCPA. Looking forward to next time!

The tortelloni is filled with artichoke mousse with bits of artichoke (I think). The pasta bathes in white truffle brodo and topped with aged Manchego + chervil. The artichoke mousse is soft, creamy, and subtle, but the truffle broth really enhances the flavor without being too overpowering. It tastes like a little pasta treat. I highly recommend ordering 7 pcs ($27.00). We also ordered the grilled Niman Ranch pork chop (42.00). I think the vegetables change depending on the season, but when we had it, the dish came with sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts, Persian cucumbers + cilantro. The pork chop tasted Asian-y which was a really nice surprise. Service was attentive and great. Rioja has been a mainstay on Denver's culinary radar and yes, it's just as good as they say.
