We scored free street parking a couple of blocks away. Walk with a group. There are questionable people that tend to loiter across the street. We're warmly greeted by male staff, no reservations, and seated within 10 minutes. Lots of customers walking gravitate toward this location. Three male staff were very welcoming, answered our inquiries regarding the menu, demonstrated excellent customer service throughout our entire dining experience. Seasoned Fried Chicken: Crispy coating on outside, juices sealed in, tender on the inside. Tempted to consume more. Pork Chives Shrimp Dumplings: Steamed, full of flavor from combination of pork, shrimp and chives. Delicious! This place was hopping on a Tues night! The service was very nice. We arrive around 745 and the place was packed with a long waitlist. They suggested we order to go as the kitchen closed at 830 and they couldn't guarantee a table before then. They ended up giving us a table as a reservation didn't show. It was so nice of them to we were able to eat dinner there and it was delicious! You don't find Peking duck at many Chinese restaurants so this was a huge treat. It was so good. I had such a great experience here. The menu has plenty of options for different dietary needs, and everything we tried was full of flavor without feeling overwhelming. Each dish was cooked just right, with sauces that actually complemented the food instead of drowning it out. I had the Jajang tofu pancake roll, had tofu, scallions I think shredded cabbage, a touch of hoisin sauce wrapped in a perfectly flakey, pan-fried pancake = YUM! Also had the mushroom-bok choy dumpling; I could smell the mushrooms as soon as the plate was in front of me, and doused it with the brown spicy sauce on the table. So delicious! TLDR: just pass if you are looking for anything close to authentic... Last time I visited, their food was too Americanized for me. So I complained to the staff and they recommended alternatives on the menu that should taste "more authentic". This time I stuck to those. We ordered beef rice noodle soup, signature Peking roast duck, pancakes, dumplings, and string beans. I had high expectation for the roast duck as the staff last time said it was very authentic, and it was their signature. What a disappointment! The duck probably had a 50% body fat if not more, with soggy thick skin (no thing, crispy areas to be found), and mediocre-taste meat. The cucumber and the onion to pair with were wilting, and the spring pancakes to make roll with were stuck together and way too thick. The rice noodle soup was better than the dry rice noodle from last time, at least not sweet and more authentic. But it still didn't quite hit the spot. The Sweet & Sour Cucumber was a bit too sweet for me. Our favorite was the Cilantro Spicy Beef. I just wish they had rice to eat it with. Food is amazing here! I went with my family and we had several dishes. The lamen was probably my favorite, the noodles seemed fresh and handmade! They were perfectly chewy and the sauce was not overly spicy but an interesting peanut taste. The vegan wontons were surprisingly great - as a meat eater I was not expecting to like them this much but I would 100% order them again! The food came fairly fast and one at a time so we could really enjoy the feel of a multi course meal. Used to consider this place a 4/5 star but recently they changed their noodles, and they add less beef than they did. Everything during my recent meal tasted more like fast food than authentic chinese food. It was very disappointing. I asked them about it, and they said they recently changed the noodles. Decent Chinese food in Wallingford. This place is packed and it helps to get a reservation beforehand. We ordered: Peking duck (wasn't salted enough but okay overall okay. The plum sauce helps it). Beef noodle soup (weirdly had a lot of bean sprouts in it and it needed mixing since the flavor was on the bottom but it was bland if you just eat it from the top. It was so full so we didn't stir it or know that. When we brought it home we noticed it just needed a good mixing when there's space to mix). The green beans were good, just not spicy at all which isn't what I used to but I didn't mind. Spicy beef lamen was tasty as well, decent amount of beef and even has Chinese broccoli in it which was a great bonus! The spicy and sour noodle was really mild, both the spiciness and the sourness were lacking a bit. Revisited Dumpling The Noodle and tried some other menu items-- the shrimp lamen and the chili the beef lamen (non-soup). Previously had tried the beef lamen soup. We agree that the beef lamen soup is the best, tastes very traditional, mildly spicy (chili oil + beef flavored), if you like it more spicy, you can add more chili which is on the table. The shrimp lamen is pretty decent, tastes like a completely different soup, its soup is carrot-flavored and not spicy at all. The non-soup beef lamen, was very thick and creamy-- almost nutty. I've gotten their $50 seattle restaurant week "vegan explorer" pack twice to-go, and I've eaten at the actual restaurant once. It's delicious. Only place I've ever found a vegan tofu version of a beef pancake, and they have these infinity noodles that are so so good. I want to put that nutty spicy sauce on everything. Solid find for Chinese food in the area. They have a large variety of items from dumplings to noodles and everything was very solid. I got the chicken and corn dumplings and although it's supposed to be pan fried, they were more so boiled. The lamen was also pretty good and unique - there's a nice bite to them and they taste handmade. I just wish the beef pieces were bigger as it was more shredded. We ordered family style and shared plates, so I got to sample many dumplings and dishes from the menu. The cilantro spicy beef was probably my favorite dish, but you really can't go wrong! I don't recommend the noodle soup bowls if you are planning to share because they don't come with extra bowls or spoons, so I would avoid those if that is your plan (though they were still delicious!) My favorite dishes are their dumplings of course, such as the Pork Cabbage Dumplings and Bulgogi Beef Dumplings. Not to mention, the delectable Pork Shrimp Wontons with Spicy Sauce, Sweet Chili Chicken, and Green Onion Pancake. For something different, the Peking Duck is very tasty, skin crispy, and I love the presentation and getting to create my own "duck roll-up" with the rice paper, sauce, and veggies it comes with. For my group of 4, the half order was more than enough. A must-try is their various "Lamen" wide-noodle dishes that Dumpling The Noodle's Chef Sen innovated and the restaurant has now become known for it. My favorite is the Chili The Shrimp Lamen. A spot that I would certainly return to! Though I only got to try a couple of the items this time around, I really want to try more. We made a reservation ahead of time and they were able to accommodate our party of 9 quickly. I shared the chili beef lamen and signature pork onion buns. This was the perfect amount I felt, but if you're really hungry you could probably get another item too. The pork buns had really good flavor, though I wished they were soupy like the smaller sheng jian bao. I absolutely loved the noodles though! They were so thick and chewy which really highlighted their handmade-ness, and the sauce that they were in was so so yummy. There was also a really generous portion of beef and some other veggies inside. I would absolutely get that again or try another one of their lamen! Vegan + Carnivore review: The space of the restaurant is welcoming. I loved the painting of the cherry blossom tree on the wall. Made a reservation to be safe, however we were a bit late but it wasn't a busy night so we were seated right as we walked in (party of 2). If you're familiar with Din Tai Fung, I would say the "style" and serving sizes are very similar. I'm vegan and my friend eats meat so the options we got varied. Drinks: I ordered the Lychee drink & my friend order a ginger beer. The lychee drink was delicious, and my friend said she enjoyed her ginger beer. Drinks were finished before we finished our meals. Vegan options: I ordered the Sichuan Dry-Fried String Beans, Vegan Wontons with spicy sauce, vegan fried wontons, and the (vegan) JaJang tofu pancake roll. Out of 10, I give everything a solid 8. The string beans were definitely my favourite out of everything, surprisingly lol. You can't go wrong with those and to be honest, they knocked Din Tai Fung's out of the park!!! And that's big for me to say as Din Tai is my favourite restaurant. Nonetheless, the spicy wontons were just as delicious. I think I will pass on the fried wontons; they were too crunchy for me but might be just the right texture for the next person. First impressions are not great, but if they claim to be one of the best dumpling places in Seattle I believe them. The food quality is great Here's why I'm not happy. It shouldn't take 45 minutes to get the first order out. A handful of delivery and pickup people waiting by the door, many tables sitting there empty or waiting for their orders to be taken. It opens at 4:30 but the first dish (noodles) goes out at 5:15. In most Chinese restaurants I know, they can get fresh noodles out in 15-20 minutes. And if some restaurants see orders come in before opening time, they will start on it early. Meanwhile, this store doesn't start putting on aprons until 4:30 earliest. I respect the staff's rest time, but as someone who has work experience in Chinese restaurants, this was unusual for me. Food is fantastic. I highly recommend the sunflower shrimp - its tastes like honey walnut shrimp but with rice-crispy-like sunflower seeds. But it doesn't seem to handle takeout well. my pork buns were ripped and they tried to hide it (see photo). The onion pancakes are a joke - thin, burnt, and a 3" radius. Disappointing. Despite all I've said, I come back time after time because the food is good and good Chinese food is hard to get in northern Seattle. read more

The Peking Duck!!! Wow wow wow was it perfectly cooked and served plentiful for two people (1/2 serving), it was so succulent and tender with tons of flavor. It was incredible, high recommend. We also ordered the sweet and sour cucumber appetizer, it was delicious and later provided delicious with the duck. And we got the Ja Jang Beef Pancake Roll - EPIC. The green onion pancake was moist in the middle yet crunchy, and it had tons of greens as well as tasty beef. For drinks we shared an oolong tea pot, it comes in a metal carafe and stays hot all meat, tasty. The people next to us ordered dumplings are were super happy.
