Cute little Dumpling eatery in Arcadia. Came here for dinner after spending the whole day exploring at the nearby Los Angeles Arboretum with my husband and daughter....We were starving!!! Once arriving ,we were seated immediately. Plenty of seating! Delicious smells wafting through the dining room from the kitchen!!! We were in for such an experience. Ordered the pork fried rice-5 different dumplings (vegetable/juicy pork/chicken pan fried/chicken/pork and cabbage) -hot and sour soup-crispy chicken w/ chilis,onions,green peppers. Everything ....(and I) seriously mean everything was spectacular and soo flavorful!!! We all agreed this was the best dumpling house we have ever been to! My husband said this would be his "going to the electric chair meal"!!!!! It was that damn good!!!
Today my daughter and I stopped by Dumpling House for a late lunch/early dinner. She chose the restaurant and was excited because I'd been there once before after a friend introduced me to it. I told her, "Good choice. The menu is really good." We ordered the Juicy Pork Dumplings, House Special Beef Noodle Soup, Steamed Rice, Green Onion Pancakes, and Beef Broccoli. The food was good, and we enjoyed everything we ordered. Unfortunately, our experience wasn't what I expected. When we walked in, no one greeted us. I noticed because other customers who came in after us were welcomed. I told myself I was probably overthinking it and let it go. When we were finally seated, two of the ladies working there never smiled during any of our interactions. It may seem like a small thing, but it made my daughter and me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. A friendly greeting and a smile can make such a difference. Hospitality isn't just about serving food--it's about making people feel welcome. Then, while eating, I found something on my plate that clearly should not have been there. Rather than make a scene in front of other customers, I quietly walked to the back and showed one of the hostesses. I simply asked if I could have a new plate because I had almost stopped eating after finding it. Instead of saying, "I'm so sorry," she smiled, smirked, and asked, "Did you put it there?" I was honestly shocked. I replied, "If I put it there, why would I embarrass myself by bringing it to your attention?" Whether someone believes a customer or not, the first response should be kindness and concern. A simple, "I'm so sorry. Let me take care of that for you," would have completely changed the situation. By that point, I honestly wanted to leave. The one bright spot during our visit was DANNY. He was the only employee who smiled and treated us with genuine kindness. He made us feel welcome when no one else did. THANK YOU DANNY for treating my daughter and me with respect and making us feel welcome. The food was good and could have been part of a wonderful dining experience. Unfortunately, the service didn't match the quality of the food. The atmosphere felt cold and unwelcoming that day, and that took away from what should have been an enjoyable meal. I'm not sure if I'll return. If I do, it will be because of the food--and because I hope Danny is working that day. I also hope management sees this as constructive feedback, because a little kindness and genuine hospitality can turn first-time customers into lifelong ones.
Favorite spot in town for some Chinese food! Everything is so yummy fast and friendly service. Very simple interior but the tasty food has us coming back!!!
Food is good here, solid! I prefer it than din tai fung- prices make more sense, more taste and authentic. Plus can't go wrong with those free pancakes that are made fresh to table. Good service, especially for Chinese resto (hehe), can get a lot more bang for your buck. TVs are a bit distracting but most restaurants have TVs so there's not really a them issue but a me issue. Quaint and not the cleanest but also not here for elite atmosphere (guess if you want that then DTF is the place to go to). I'd get some dumplings, veg and a nice soup if I were you!
Free green onion pancake for orders for $20! Overall quality 3.8/5. The soup dumplings skin is thicker than DTF but overall still tasty. I love the mung cold noodles and eggplant. The place is a bit small but lots of parking in the back lot
Very comforting and good prices, but you can get significantly better versions of all 3 of these dishes in a 10 mile radius (not even) of this place for the same price. Mapo was probably the best of all of these 3 dishes though and the service is very fast.
Best place for XLB! Been coming here for years. There are lots of competitions in the area but this one survived with great food, good service and clean and nice restaurants. A lot of none Asian clientele but don't let that fool you. They serve very authentic food!
Was craving dumplings during the cold weather and decided to give a local place a try! I came here on a Thursday night at around 6:30pm. I had called 20 minutes before and let them know what I wanted to order via dish name. Parking is available in the back lot but there's very limited spots available due to other businesses being really busy. The store is pretty small since they try putting as many tables as they can. When you walk in, you have to squeeze past the tables to walk to the counter to pick up your order. It felt really awkward since I had to walk in between two tables while they were eating. When I talked to the server, I asked her if she accepted Apple Pay and she said yes. I tapped my AMEX card and it went through but made a weird sound as if it denied. I asked her if she accepted AMEX afterwards and she said no but it already went through. Not sure what that meant... I signed my receipt, grabbed my food, said thank you and nothing back. Food: I got take-out so the food might vary compared to dining in. My family and I did try and eat it as fast as we could. It took 10 minutes to drive home and another 10 to actually eat the food. We ordered the home style chow mein, beef roll pancake, hand made pancake, and pan fried pork dumplings. Home style chow mein (7/10): When we opened the box, the steam was still pouring through. I thought that this one was decent. We did order this one to be cooked with less oil so it might've dried the noodles a little more when it was being cooked. There were lots of different veggies in this dish. I think the protein in here was pork, I'm not too sure. I thought that there was good amount of flavor! Beef Roll Pancake (7/10) : I love beef roll pancakes and will order one if a restaurant offers it. However, this one sort of fell flat for me. There was hardly any beef rolled into the pancake. It comes with 2 big rolls that are cut into 3 so in total you get 6 rolls. The skin was chewy and the sweetness from the hoisin sauce came through with each bite. Some people steer clear of this because of the cilantro but the flavor didn't really overpower the dish. Pan Fried Pork Dumplings (7/10): Of course you need to get dumplings at a dumpling house. I thought that this dish was a tad bit too oily. The dumpling skin was soft and the filling was packed. I do wish that the "pan fried" part was a little more crunchy but it could be soggy because I got to-go and couldn't eat it right away. It comes with 8 pieces which was plenty since we got other dishes. Hand made pancake (6/10): This one is so unique! If you can imagine it, it's like a circle with swirls and the swirls are pulled apart from each other. This dish is so easy to share with other people since you can just rip it apart in strands. I do wish that this one was a little more salted.
Once again a feast for lunch. Hard to try new items when everything last time was so good. Tried steamed fish dumpling, fried lamb dumplings the duck wrap ( must try) and the half price green onion pancakes w fungus salad. All very yummy and served quickly. Taking extra home for dinner tonight. Simple brightly lit space. Pleasant. Parking in back.
Never been that into dumplings but that changed when I ate here. The buns and dumplings were steamed and fried to perfection. Everything had great texture and flavor. And the price point was great. The restaurant has plenty of seating and parking as well.
Was a bit let down by the quality of the food. This place was so busy I thought the food would be really good. The dumplings were $13-14 for 8, and the sizes were good, but the wrappers were all broken and quite disappointing. The green onion pancake was free for order above $20, but were obviously store bought and very dry and not tasty. The interior was clean and staff are decent.
The restaurant itself is pretty small so if you're coming with a larger party, it might get a bit tough. Parking is available in the back of the restaurant. Their restroom is oddly placed in the back of the restaurant. You have to walk outside and around to get to it. Their dumpling skin is on the thicker side so if you like thin skin, this is not it. ESP their potsticker, the skin was so thick!! But I will say that the dipping sauce was pretty darn good. The flavored stewed beef noodle soup was spicy and oily. I could've totally went without this and the beef roll pancake. $13 for beef roll pancake which was bland and cold like it just came out the fridge??? That's a big no no!! AND the whole thing just falls apart as you pick it up to eat. Also, these items had thumbs up right next to it on the menu. They should take those down until they adjust the taste first. Now to the service, I didn't have a problem until she came to drop off our check that we didn't even ask for yet. That's kind of rude as it gives a sense of urgency for you to hurry up and leave.
Staff was friendly was feeling horrible all day and needed some soup. Restaurant was clean. Food came out at a decent time. I'd advise to use the restroom before you go. They have an outside restroom which is like a storage closet. Other than that food was delicious and staff was friendly

Very satisfying and an unexpected surprise. We passed by recently, and I thought I had been to another location of the same franchise in the LA vicinity, and had enjoyed it as well. Beef roll pancake: as others have written, could use a little more sauce, but the dough has a really nice texture (a bit crispy and chewy, but not flaky) and a nice amount of cilantro and green onions inside to offset the richness of the meat. A fairly generous portion. Juicy pork dumpling: they have a thicker skin, are larger and I'd say more "rustic" than others I've had before. They feel more homey and rustic then at some other high-end soup dumpling place I've visited. Flavors are mild and pleasant. read more

This place is pretty good. I ordered the ChongQing Crispy Chicken and the Juicy Pork Dumplings. The chicken was pretty good! Very juicy and tender. Like seriously. I feel like it could've been crispier though. Otherwise, it was great. The soup dumplings were also good. Just wish it had a bit more soup. read more

Horrible service by lady behind counter. Arrived at 8:30pm, after driving from Eagle Rock. Yelp and their posted hours showed they closed at 9pm. As soon as we walked in, we were rudely told "we are closed!" I asked her if the posted hour of 9:00pm didn't stand, and she said no. The placed was full and we didn't fit in. I could only assume that was the reason we were denied service. I would NEVER patronize this place EVER!!! read more

Service was 5 out fo 5 everyone was really nice and got us what we needed despite the fact we came 40 mins before closing. Needed to find food before making the drive back to the IE area. Parking: small lot in the back shared with the other business On that street Food: Garlic cold cumbers was super garlicky with a bit more rice vinegar than I personally would have liked 2 out of 5 Sautéed string beans it was dull and no crisp way too much sauce 1 out of 5 Xiao long bao (soup dumplings l) the skin is super thick so it's more chewy and not a lot of soup 1 out of 5 Beef noodle soup house signature: this had good flavor but skimpy on the meat. Probably a highlight to the meal as everything else was meh. It was a bit more oily than I would have preferred and for such had a kick to it. 4 out of 5 Green onion pancake: pass on this not crispy and more soggy very little green onions. Flavor was lacking so we had to eat it with some soy sauce and chili. 0 out of 5 Pan friend park and cabbage: this was good taste like homemade. The filling could have been more but taste was there at least. 4 out of 5 Total cost was $100 something for all this food for 3 people. It wasn't cheap and I won't be coming back just because the flavor was not what I was hoping for. And for the price I could have gone to DTF or somewhere else. Again there's are my own options other people really enjoyed it here. Come and try if you like and maybe I the day I went was an off day for them. But I'm just here to share my experience and hope it helps you see what items you want to order if you choose to give it a shot. read more

Yummy yummy hole in the wall! I'm always looking for a good dumpling joint. Dumplings are one of my comfort foods, and Dumpling House executes well. The shrimp and egg dumplings are super delicious, and perfect for pescatarian dumpling-lovers! They have a good balance of shrimp and egg. They were also pan-fried very well with no burnt edges! The XLB was good as well. My favorite dish was probably the green beans. They had such excellent flavor. My friends and I scarfed that dish down the quickest. We also got a free green onion pancake with our Yelp check-in! I have high standards for chong you bing because I grew up with my grandma making it every day. Dumpling House was not quite up there with my Nai Nai, but they did a pretty great job. Overall, excellent food and a warm, friendly interior. read more

This place has been around for as long as I can remember and it would suck for it to close down due to the recent lockdown/quarantine orders. Decided to order take-out to support. The pan fried pork dumplings and xiao long bao were very good, even as take-out. Reheated the beef noodle soup in a pot and added the noodles. Broth was rich with large chunks of beef but was way too spicy for me (but I also can't hang). Went with the house special fried noodles and the noodles weren't as chewy as I preferred but had good flavor nonetheless. Might've been better heated up. Overall, a decent establishment in an area saturated with the dumpling/noodle restaurants like Din Tai Fung and 101 Noodle Express. Good alternative for when I'm too lazy to make the drive to Mr. Dragon. read more

Came in for lunch recently after a hike nearby. Love the spacious parking spots. Place was pretty full but we were coming in near the end of the lunch hour. Service wasn't bad at all. Only two wait staff and there were only two empty tables. They make it work. Kudos to the kitchen staff who made some of the food with less oil and less salt. Shanghai fried rice cakes - really good. Portion is a bit small though Stir fried vermicelli with pork - I didn't try any of this but it was also a hit House special beef noodle soup - a bit too much pepper in the broth but really tasty. Love the slices of daikon Braised beef noodle soup - I didn't try this but it seemed popular Green onion pancake - the rest of my party finished this pretty quickly so I'm guessing it was really good Fried buns - also didn't get to try this. My sister apparently orders it whenever she comes here Would come back again. Overall 4.5 read more
This place is pretty legit for Asian food. I recommend a bunch of dishes here for sure! Eggplant with Garlic Sauce, Xiao Long bao, sautéed green beans, veggie egg rolls, fried rice, etc. I personally can't handle spicy food but majority of the food aren't too bad. They just look super spicy but it's mild unless you eat a red pepper. The Xiao long bao needs to be eaten right away or else it goes dry and don't forget the vinegar. There's a parking lot in the back so you don't have to worry about parking which is a plus! read more

The food is decent but I'm not sure why the place is always packed and busy. I would say you should only get the dumplings here well since it's dumpling house. They do make it special and tastes pretty different than other places. Would skip everything else haha. That makes it easy and that's what you want when you go out to eat. Service is fast, no thrills and ambiance is like a normal Chinese restaurant with plenty of parking in the back lot. read more

1. Cleanness & Parking- clean, no trash on floor, shared parking with other stores, need to park in the back due to limited parking in front because of main street baldwin but at least no fee nor limit 2. Contactless payment- yes, apple pay accepted 3. Reservations/Appointment - first come first serve, always get seated though 4. Customer Service/Assistance - all employees have been nice 5. Food - oh so good, favorite dumplings place in my reviews each star is given when they meet all my top necessities overall, definitely would return great quality food and very local read more

First time at The Dumpling House and a wonderful experience! The staff was accommodating and friendly. It's a small clean restaurant and not an empty table. Many to-go orders were made. You get a nice serving of dumplings, approx 10, and each dumpling a mouthful. The popcorn chicken appetizer was tasty- I recommend it. The coat is anywhere from $11-$12 for an order of dumplings. I will be back for another enjoyable lunch. I give it 4 out of 5 forks. read more
One of our favorites for dumplings and beef roll! Their regular dishes to eat with rice are good too. Food is good Price is reasonable They close on time as with most restaurants since pandemic so get there at least 30minutes before states closing time otherwise to go only. read more

Service was fast, the food was hot and the atmosphere was relaxed. I've driven by this place for years and finally found the time to try it. We ordered the steamed pork dumplings, the steamed buns and the hot and spicy chow mein. Everything was hot and packed full of flavor when we got it. The dumplings were made with a little too much dough so they were a bit chewy and too big, but the soup and filling was great. Will definitely be back to try the wonton soup and other favorites on their menu. read more

It said I'm here that they closed at 9:30 on Tuesday's, but when we arrived at 8:30 they told us we'd have to hurry because they closed at 9:00. I get it, when it's slow it's nice to close early and we were happy to be seated. I was a little worried because usually when staff are rushing to go home the quality goes down. Luckily I was only disappointed by the juicy pork dumplings... the wrapper was over cooked so it was very mushy and the flavor to me was off. The pan fried dumplings are always a favorite of mine when I go places, and these were mediocre. I wasn't disappointed, it was exactly what I was expecting,.. underwhelming but not a bad price for a good amount of food. My favorite two things in the meal was the basic shrimp fried rice (can't go wrong with rice) and the pork wontons in spicy sauce. The sauce was good, not too much heat and the flavor or the rolling in this dish was my favorite. The two working were friendly enough and even gave my brother and I a free iced green tea. Luckily we eat pretty fast so I'm sure they were able to go home early still lol read more

I'm going to be honest this place is just okay. It's not terrible, but it's not the best. I think it's a bit pricy for the portions. Accepts Apple Pay! Visa and Mastercard only. Each roll comes with just 6 tiny pieces and they go for 12-13 dollars. Beef roll pancakes 4/5: they're pretty good, but I prefer more sauce inside the pancake. It was a bit dry without it, but others said it was a good amount. I do think it's pricy for the amount. Pecking duck pancake 1/5: I would never order this again. The duck was sour, dry, and tough. It reminded me of old thanksgiving turkey. I wouldn't call it pecking duck either. It's more like a soy duck type. For the price, the portion was small too, but because of the taste I don't think that's a bad thing. Pan fried pork dumpling 5/5: the skin is really thick, I can tell it's not everyone's preference, but I like it. It gives the dumplings a nice chew. It's almost like eating thick noodles with a bite of meat. I think the sauce it comes with pairs really well. I think it's a vinegar based sauce. Would I come again? Maybe not, it's out of the way and kinda pricey. Well the dumplings are good though. The overall experience was not bad, I like the interior. read more

This is my FAVORITE place to get dumplings! We no longer live in Arcadia, but when ever we are in the area we have to stop here and get some food. The must have every time we go are the rice cakes, sautéed green beans, and the juicy pork dumplings. Trust me make sure you check all of those on your list! The rice cakes are full of yummy meat ans veggies and cookies to chewy perfection. The green beans are always crisp and saucy. But the main attraction is always the juicy pork dumplings! We also get the juicy crab and pork dumplings too. I can't fully tell a difference between the two but they are both delicious and juicy. I would eat there multiple times a visit too. The employees are nice and the food does come out quickly. The parking can be a little tricky, but trust me it is worth it! read more
I made a personal resolution that 2019 would be "the year of the dumpling". I want to learn more about and find the best dumplings in the SGV. One of my Yelp friends, Anna H., recommended that I give the Dumpling House a try, so we went here for dinner a couple weeks ago on a cold, blustery evening. SERVICE: Service was very lack-luster and robotic. No greeting, no discussion of the menu or what we wanted, just handed a couple menus, the order sheet, and a pen to mark down our order. When we asked for clarification on some of the items, the responses were barely audible and not very clear. I watched and this was a consistent theme throughout the evening with all of the customers. FOOD: I thought the food was pretty tasty, although the dumplings we ordered were served dry, no dipping sauce. There is a huge variety of dumplings on the menu and we probably tried the most ordinary type, Pan Fried Pork Dumplings. We also ordered the Shrimp Wontons in Spicy Sauce (is this technically a dumpling?). The other food we ordered, Beef Broccoli and the Combination Fried Rice, was also tasty. We also received a free Green-Onion Pancake with our Yelp check-in. My wife really liked it and I thought it was pretty good too...and I hate onions! SUMMARY: The atmosphere was pretty cool/cozy/comforting and the prices were reasonable, but with the service, or lack thereof, I don't know if the other stuff was enough to get me to return...we'll see. read more
Another happy day for my stomach as Dumpling House is open for indoor dining. We went a bit crazy on ordering. Got four dishes for two of us. To start with, we got our favorite hot and sour soup. This soup was cooked to perfection with the right amount of vinegar and hot sauce. We also missed the house pancake so much, so we got one order of the pancake by itself and a pan fried pancake with shredded pork and vegetables. The pan fried pancake was so tasty and yummy. Even though we know we had enough for lunch, we haven't had their egg plant with pork dish for awhile( a year and a half), we also ordered this dish to stuff ourselves for lunch. We were going to order their pot stickers, buy we couldn't eat anymore. So we planned to come back on Saturday ( 3/20/2021) to try their dumpling and xiao long Bao ( soup dumpling). This is a branch of North Cafe. Because of the main branch was not open for indoor dining, we came here for our lunch. read more

Horrible experience at this restaurant. First of all, upon entering, the waiters were looking at us strangely as if we were some kind of aliens. No greetings no nothing. Second, the food was really... meh and for the price it's actually not worth it. I know restaurants in Arcadia can be quite pricey but there are some places where you can get better food for almost the same prices, in my opinion. And last but not least, service was poor and inattentive. We ordered some noodles to go but they never brought it out to our table, we had finished eating and paid already and they even came back to pick up the bill but totally forgot our order. We had to personally go to the counter and ask if it was ready. I would gladly be back to a restaurant for spot on service and awesome food even if it was a little pricier. But this place, I don't think I would ever come back. read more

Where is the bathroom in this restaurant?
You need to go out the restaurant walk to the back parking lot and enter from the back door of the restaurant. Otherwise customers needs to go thru their kitchen to get there. As long as no rain. Not too bad. The bathroom is not super clean But…
Why do they close at 3pm and re-open at 5pm?
The normal breaks for all restaurants to restock and prepare for the dinner crowds.
