Cute little Dumpling eatery in Arcadia. Came here for dinner after spending the whole day exploring at the nearby Los Angeles Arboretum with my husband and daughter....We were starving!!! Once arriving ,we were seated immediately. Plenty of seating! Delicious smells wafting through the dining room from the kitchen!!! We were in for such an experience. Ordered the pork fried rice-5 different dumplings (vegetable/juicy pork/chicken pan fried/chicken/pork and cabbage) -hot and sour soup-crispy chicken w/ chilis,onions,green peppers. Everything ....(and I) seriously mean everything was spectacular and soo flavorful!!! We all agreed this was the best dumpling house we have ever been to! My husband said this would be his "going to the electric chair meal"!!!!! It was that damn good!!!
Today my daughter and I stopped by Dumpling House for a late lunch/early dinner. She chose the restaurant and was excited because I'd been there once before after a friend introduced me to it. I told her, "Good choice. The menu is really good." We ordered the Juicy Pork Dumplings, House Special Beef Noodle Soup, Steamed Rice, Green Onion Pancakes, and Beef Broccoli. The food was good, and we enjoyed everything we ordered. Unfortunately, our experience wasn't what I expected. When we walked in, no one greeted us. I noticed because other customers who came in after us were welcomed. I told myself I was probably overthinking it and let it go. When we were finally seated, two of the ladies working there never smiled during any of our interactions. It may seem like a small thing, but it made my daughter and me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. A friendly greeting and a smile can make such a difference. Hospitality isn't just about serving food--it's about making people feel welcome. Then, while eating, I found something on my plate that clearly should not have been there. Rather than make a scene in front of other customers, I quietly walked to the back and showed one of the hostesses. I simply asked if I could have a new plate because I had almost stopped eating after finding it. Instead of saying, "I'm so sorry," she smiled, smirked, and asked, "Did you put it there?" I was honestly shocked. I replied, "If I put it there, why would I embarrass myself by bringing it to your attention?" Whether someone believes a customer or not, the first response should be kindness and concern. A simple, "I'm so sorry. Let me take care of that for you," would have completely changed the situation. By that point, I honestly wanted to leave. The one bright spot during our visit was DANNY. He was the only employee who smiled and treated us with genuine kindness. He made us feel welcome when no one else did. THANK YOU DANNY for treating my daughter and me with respect and making us feel welcome. The food was good and could have been part of a wonderful dining experience. Unfortunately, the service didn't match the quality of the food. The atmosphere felt cold and unwelcoming that day, and that took away from what should have been an enjoyable meal. I'm not sure if I'll return. If I do, it will be because of the food--and because I hope Danny is working that day. I also hope management sees this as constructive feedback, because a little kindness and genuine hospitality can turn first-time customers into lifelong ones.
Favorite spot in town for some Chinese food! Everything is so yummy fast and friendly service. Very simple interior but the tasty food has us coming back!!!
Food is good here, solid! I prefer it than din tai fung- prices make more sense, more taste and authentic. Plus can't go wrong with those free pancakes that are made fresh to table. Good service, especially for Chinese resto (hehe), can get a lot more bang for your buck. TVs are a bit distracting but most restaurants have TVs so there's not really a them issue but a me issue. Quaint and not the cleanest but also not here for elite atmosphere (guess if you want that then DTF is the place to go to). I'd get some dumplings, veg and a nice soup if I were you!
Free green onion pancake for orders for $20! Overall quality 3.8/5. The soup dumplings skin is thicker than DTF but overall still tasty. I love the mung cold noodles and eggplant. The place is a bit small but lots of parking in the back lot
Very comforting and good prices, but you can get significantly better versions of all 3 of these dishes in a 10 mile radius (not even) of this place for the same price. Mapo was probably the best of all of these 3 dishes though and the service is very fast.
Best place for XLB! Been coming here for years. There are lots of competitions in the area but this one survived with great food, good service and clean and nice restaurants. A lot of none Asian clientele but don't let that fool you. They serve very authentic food!
Was craving dumplings during the cold weather and decided to give a local place a try! I came here on a Thursday night at around 6:30pm. I had called 20 minutes before and let them know what I wanted to order via dish name. Parking is available in the back lot but there's very limited spots available due to other businesses being really busy. The store is pretty small since they try putting as many tables as they can. When you walk in, you have to squeeze past the tables to walk to the counter to pick up your order. It felt really awkward since I had to walk in between two tables while they were eating. When I talked to the server, I asked her if she accepted Apple Pay and she said yes. I tapped my AMEX card and it went through but made a weird sound as if it denied. I asked her if she accepted AMEX afterwards and she said no but it already went through. Not sure what that meant... I signed my receipt, grabbed my food, said thank you and nothing back. Food: I got take-out so the food might vary compared to dining in. My family and I did try and eat it as fast as we could. It took 10 minutes to drive home and another 10 to actually eat the food. We ordered the home style chow mein, beef roll pancake, hand made pancake, and pan fried pork dumplings. Home style chow mein (7/10): When we opened the box, the steam was still pouring through. I thought that this one was decent. We did order this one to be cooked with less oil so it might've dried the noodles a little more when it was being cooked. There were lots of different veggies in this dish. I think the protein in here was pork, I'm not too sure. I thought that there was good amount of flavor! Beef Roll Pancake (7/10) : I love beef roll pancakes and will order one if a restaurant offers it. However, this one sort of fell flat for me. There was hardly any beef rolled into the pancake. It comes with 2 big rolls that are cut into 3 so in total you get 6 rolls. The skin was chewy and the sweetness from the hoisin sauce came through with each bite. Some people steer clear of this because of the cilantro but the flavor didn't really overpower the dish. Pan Fried Pork Dumplings (7/10): Of course you need to get dumplings at a dumpling house. I thought that this dish was a tad bit too oily. The dumpling skin was soft and the filling was packed. I do wish that the "pan fried" part was a little more crunchy but it could be soggy because I got to-go and couldn't eat it right away. It comes with 8 pieces which was plenty since we got other dishes. Hand made pancake (6/10): This one is so unique! If you can imagine it, it's like a circle with swirls and the swirls are pulled apart from each other. This dish is so easy to share with other people since you can just rip it apart in strands. I do wish that this one was a little more salted.
Once again a feast for lunch. Hard to try new items when everything last time was so good. Tried steamed fish dumpling, fried lamb dumplings the duck wrap ( must try) and the half price green onion pancakes w fungus salad. All very yummy and served quickly. Taking extra home for dinner tonight. Simple brightly lit space. Pleasant. Parking in back.
Never been that into dumplings but that changed when I ate here. The buns and dumplings were steamed and fried to perfection. Everything had great texture and flavor. And the price point was great. The restaurant has plenty of seating and parking as well.
Was a bit let down by the quality of the food. This place was so busy I thought the food would be really good. The dumplings were $13-14 for 8, and the sizes were good, but the wrappers were all broken and quite disappointing. The green onion pancake was free for order above $20, but were obviously store bought and very dry and not tasty. The interior was clean and staff are decent.
The restaurant itself is pretty small so if you're coming with a larger party, it might get a bit tough. Parking is available in the back of the restaurant. Their restroom is oddly placed in the back of the restaurant. You have to walk outside and around to get to it. Their dumpling skin is on the thicker side so if you like thin skin, this is not it. ESP their potsticker, the skin was so thick!! But I will say that the dipping sauce was pretty darn good. The flavored stewed beef noodle soup was spicy and oily. I could've totally went without this and the beef roll pancake. $13 for beef roll pancake which was bland and cold like it just came out the fridge??? That's a big no no!! AND the whole thing just falls apart as you pick it up to eat. Also, these items had thumbs up right next to it on the menu. They should take those down until they adjust the taste first. Now to the service, I didn't have a problem until she came to drop off our check that we didn't even ask for yet. That's kind of rude as it gives a sense of urgency for you to hurry up and leave.
Staff was friendly was feeling horrible all day and needed some soup. Restaurant was clean. Food came out at a decent time. I'd advise to use the restroom before you go. They have an outside restroom which is like a storage closet. Other than that food was delicious and staff was friendly

this place is ok. I get take outs from this place once a while. Service has been consistent. While this place probably won't blow you away with state of the art tasting food, these items are pretty decent: juicy pork dumplings, pot stickers, pan fried pork buns, beef roll pancake, and hot & sour soup. as of 4/2021, I did notice a steep Increase of price in their menu items. However i do not think they are more expensive than ding tai fong though. read more
This place is pretty decent for a no-wait, close-by dumpling restaurant. I still prefer the food from places in the heart of SGV like Long Xing Ji. Price is a bit better too. Dumpling dishes will have 10 pieces instead of 8 for a couple of dollars cheaper. We ordered scallion pancake, xiao long bao, and pan fried dumpling. All were good. We'll be trying a couple of nearby places next: One One and Hui Tao Xiang. read more

Had a simple Taiwan breakfast. We spent about $30 for two people but it's healthy and we are stuffed. We ordered green onion pancake, fish conjee (rice cooked with a lot of water, like a soup), spicy shrimp wontons, Xiao long Bao dumplings. Fab fab fab! Conjee - nice water broth, not many chunks of fish Spicy shrimp wontons - it's more wrap than shrimp, flavor is off the chain yummy Xiao long bao - a little bit of soup came out, they look nice wrapped, good enough for me without having to wait. These take approx 15-20 min to come out because it's fresh. I liked all of it especially the spicy wontons and conjee. If you aren't that hungry, skip the pancake. Otherwise, pancake is good too! Plenty of parking. Don't know how busy it gets cuz we ate at 10:30am. read more

Went with a big group so we ordered a lot: Shrimp fried rice, Broccoli Beef, Mongolian Beef, orange chicken, beef pancakes, beef chow mein, garlic pork spareribs. My favorites were the Mongolian Beef and the beef pancakes. Once you've had Juicy pork dumplings from another famous dumpling restaurant, none are ever as good. The ribs were mostly bone. read more

This is an excellent option for all the comfort food you need! They everything from XLBs, to regular dumplings, to pan fried dumplings, and a few signature meat, rice and noodle dishes. My favorite so far is the Lamb and Green Onion Dumplings. Perfectly gamy and very juicy every time! I also love the Hand Made Pancake. Very flaky and very fresh! Give this place a try! The service is pretty good, and there's plenty of parking since cars come in and out all the time, and there is also street parking. It's a great alternative to Mama Lu's (for when it's a hit or miss) haha read more

Great spot for dumplings down Baldwin Blvd in Arcadia. Pros - The juicy pork dumplings have great flavor and although the dumpling wrapper is a bit on the thick side it's still one of my fav dumpling spots in Arcadia. - If you are a fan of pan fried dumplings you have to try them here. - over all all the food is very flavorful and can't go wrong with most dishes. - They seem to keep clean for the most part - staff is friendly Cons - Juicy dumpling wrapper is not as thin as I would prefer. Din tai fung makes my preferred thickness for a dumpling - Juicy dumplings don't seem to be consistent with amount of soup inside as some have an ok amount while others sometimes have none. It's hit or miss - bathrooms are outside on the back end of the building which is a bit odd. read more

Place is always producing the best food. We have gone back and the food is amazing. Here's a tip order the beef roll. The beef roll is the best item they have in my opinion. There are many restaurants around here that have the beef roll, but the beef here is very good and juicy. The beef is not dry and the pancake it is wrapped in is amazing. We also really enjoy the green beans here as they are not overpowered with garlic, but does have enough to taste amazing. 10/10 keep ordering from here. read more

Found this place by chance after searching for some great dumplings in the area! And yes, this place is definitely a hidden gem in Acadia! Nice decoration on the wall and all dumplings and mushroom salad taste very original! The price is very much friendlier compared to Din Tai Fung. I definitely will be back again when craving for dumplings! read more

Soup Dumpling: The dumpling wraps can be better. It's kinda thick and soggy and the placement of the dumplings are too close and sticking together. Half of the dumpling skin are already ripped. Taste wise, it's pretty tasty but some dumpling have more soup than the others. Weird Beef stew noodle soup: Broth and noodle is very tasty but the meat though. It is very lean and dry. Kinda disappointed. Scallion pancake: Pretty good, eat it while it's still hot otherwise it will get all soggy Atmosphere: Decent size restaurant but kinda close to the table next to me. Cleanness: Restaurant appears to be clean besides their bowls and spoon are kinda dirty. One of our bowl have an eyelash in it and the other one has chili pepper. Bathroom: Have to go outside and around the building. It's at the back of the kitchen. Not that clean. Tips: Credit card min of $25 & check in for free scallion pancake. Without question, this was some of the very best authentic, homemade Chinese food I have ever eaten. I was in the area this weekend with many things to do. Between Pasadena and Arcadia, there are literally thousands of Chinese restaurants. After a busy afternoon, I hit the gym down the street in the early evening just to do some walking and thought I should try a new restaurant while I am out this way. I didn't want to spend a lot but did want quality, authentic food. With all the many choices on Baldwin, I went with Dumpling House because the reviews were great. I wasn't in the mood for dumplings but soft, squishy noodles and the other reviews of this place raved how their noodles were all homemade. That sold me! I ordered the shrimp chow mein with the vegetable spring rolls. Oh my goodness ... both were incredibly FRESH and superior quality! Not too salty, not too spicy. My only criticism is that I wish the shrimp chow mein had been a bit more generous a portion but because I had ordered the vegetable spring rolls, it gave me a full belly, so I am happy. The shrimp were baby shrimp but so delicate and tasty. Did I mention how FRESH all this food was?? Look, for inexpensive Chinese, this is not some average, run-of-the-mill Chinese joint. If the dumplings are half as great as the chow mein noodles, you will do back flips for the dumplings. I literally came about 40 minutes before the kitchen closed and the food was ready in literally 11 or so minutes. I was super hungry so I am glad there wasn't a long wait despite them having half the tables full at that hour. If you're in the mood for inexpensive Chinese food that is NOT at all greasy and every ingredient FRESH as can be, definitely make a stop here. My friend was craving some dumplings so we went to lunch here on a Friday afternoon. We came here close 1pm so it wasn't too crowded. There is parking in the back. We were hungry so we ordered the following: 1. Spicy shrimp dumplings 2. Congee [Thousand year old egg] 3. Pan fried dumplings 4. Salted fish fried rice Everything came out at once. Everything tasted good but not great. My favorite thing probably was the spicy dumplings. The sauce on that was good flavor. The portions were decent in size. The place was good and I can see why people like it. We paid about $40 before tip for everything. On a side note, I ordered a diet coke and it came with a cup of ice. The cup itself smelled like dish soap so I had to ask for another. read more

Where is the bathroom in this restaurant?
You need to go out the restaurant walk to the back parking lot and enter from the back door of the restaurant. Otherwise customers needs to go thru their kitchen to get there. As long as no rain. Not too bad. The bathroom is not super clean But…
Why do they close at 3pm and re-open at 5pm?
The normal breaks for all restaurants to restock and prepare for the dinner crowds.
