My daughters absolutely love their donuts, but they need a good bit of help in how to get their shop open in the morning, especially on a busy Sunday. I showed up at 7:05 am on a Sunday and we were 5th in line. The oil wasn't hot so we all waited 10 mins to even start cooking the donuts. It's very rare to have a bad donut at Duck Donuts. The hubs and I were in the Suffolk area, and I knew somewhere there were donuts. It's something like a sixth sense that I have lol well low and behold google maps guided us to the small shop. I believe they are franchised, but independently owned so point systems vary at location when downloading their app. The small shop showcased their Duck mascot and a big donut. It was clean and the employees were young and nice. I ordered a half dozen of assorted donuts such as the strawberry shortcake, maple icing with chopped bacon, blueberry with powdered sugar, lemon frosted with strawberry drizzle, sprinkle, and snicker topping donut. All were made fresh to order. It was just wonderfully warm, sweet and savory. Definitely worth the calories for that day or for the next day or so lol. Will come back when in the area. Great packaging and can heat up in the oven if the drive home is long!:) read more

Wasn't a good morning at Duck Donuts. Something was going on. Backed up. Everyone looked confused and at one point standing around while there were 8 people staring and waiting for orders. Drowned my donuts to death. They were hard to get out of the box because they were so saturated. Hard to eat because the topping was so heavy even the hole was completely solidified later. Still left a tip. Gave 4 stars because Duck Donuts is usually awesome and I know nobody did anything intentionally. Just one of those days. I love toppings. MAJOR DISSAPOINTMENT! This has more to do with service than product. I've been eating Duck Donuts prior to them making their way from OBX to HR. I've even given family that would visit OBX their stamp of approval, which means a lot because our hometown donuts rivaled few (one in Indianapolis really) others (they were simply THE best). I finally visited this location & I was one & done after the cashier decided to add her own tip after I declined the tip. Where I'm from that's called stealing. I only kept the receipt b/c I used my debit card. My attempt to pick up an assorted dzn (tried half dzn, dwindled down to 3 donuts) was already thwarted when they did not have enough batter prepared to fill my order. They were still an hour away from closing. I then did my best to select the two my family might enjoy trying & one I wanted. I had to sit & wait (only customer & 2 employees working) while the woman prepared my selection. They smiled said my order was ready, I retrieved it & left. All was fine until after a long days work (actively on site throughout the entire pandemic b/c of the setting & clients) I go to file my receipt & notice the theft. The unapproved tip was nearly the price of the donuts. I was so livid & disgusted I vowed NEVER to return & patronize any location or refer family & friends again. I came across that receipt a few weeks ago & the same level of disgust exists. The tip culture has created not just an entitled sense of monsters but outright thieves. There is a time & place to tip. If I exit my vehicle, walk to the counter & place a to go order that I am carrying out for the goods that you sale do not expect a tip. I did not sit down & require any service from you or for you to clear my mess up after leaving. You do not have a right to a tip simply because you showed up for your shift, made the food you were hired to make & rang my order up. Tips are for going above & beyond in service. The owners of these establishments may want to monitor their staff & see if the numbers make sense. read more

They greet you twice when you walk in the door and they have beautifully made menus in the front of the register with their special made donut styles. The famous maple bacon donut literally lived up to the hype . They literally dunk your donut in the icing but not too much to where it overpowers the taste of the donut and then they loaded it with what look like two pieces of crispy crunched up bacon . Everything is hot and made with generous amounts of condiments. They move fast for two people and they show your finished product at the end for approval which was really nice. This place is fantastic. We came here last month for the first time and ordered the Duck Dozen. So delicious. This time we ordered the Spring Assortment. Today was National Donut Day so my husband and I even received 1 cinnamon sugar donut each. My favorite donut is the maple bacon and I don't even normally like bacon. I like all the fun flavors and options available. It appears you can customize your entire order: flavor, topping, and glaze. I didn't build my own donut but I will some day. The donuts are great that's why you got 3 stars. The employees are mostly ok but there's this one girl with such an attitude. So short and quick to answer you back with the biggest attitude. One time I was in there I heard her talking about a customer so loudly the whole store could hear. I enjoy the donuts, and have given 5 star reviews at other Duck Donut locations, but this shop's customer service needs serious improvement. The past few times I have gone, I have had issues. This last time, the person working the cashier took a personal call while we waited 5-10 minutes to place our order. Then, we waited 30 more minutes to get our 6 donuts..while watching two people walk out since the cashier wasn't being manned and they could see it was going to take too long to be worth it. The donuts are good, but if I have to wait three months to go back to forget the last experience ordering them, it's not a good sign. read more
