If you love burritos, you need to track down The Coop food truck. Hands down my favorite food truck…read morein Virginia Beach! I stopped by during their pop up at Farmhouse Brewery and, once again, they did not disappoint. One thing you need to know: their burritos are massive. We're talking "the size of your head" big, so come hungry or be ready for some epic leftovers. The menu is small and focused (usually around four burrito choices), but every single one is packed with quality ingredients and flavor. The Coop spends most days serving on base, but keep an eye out for their local pop-ups. They're always worth chasing down. This time around, I ordered the Pepper Jack Chicken Burrito which was grilled chicken breast, maple bacon, melty pepper jack cheese, and their signature Coop Sauce, all bundled up in a warm tortilla. Every bite was the perfect balance of hearty, savory, spicy, and just a hint sweet from the bacon. Their Coop sauce is one of a kind. Tangy, and delicious. I'm sure adding an egg would take it to the next level (that's an option on all burritos). My friends had the Breakfast Burrito! This one comes with fluffy scrambled eggs, sharp cheddar cheese, juicy sausage, more of that craveable maple bacon, herby potatoes, and (of course) the signature Coop Sauce. They raved about every bite. I appreciate that The Coop keeps things simple with their streamlined menu and focus on top-notch burritos. Whenever I see them around town, I make it a point to stop ... even if there's a line, it moves fast and is absolutely worth the wait. Whether you're looking for a new lunch favorite or just crave seriously great street food, The Coop is a true gem on the Virginia Beach food truck scene. Can't wait to catch them at their next pop-up!

The owner took time to explain the menu and how he has expanded the vegan options over the time that he has owned the business. Their options go way beyond just vegan cheese! And they also have some amazing desserts from a local vegan bakery in the area. All of the staff were super friendly and helpful, and appear to enjoy serving their community. The pizzas came out quickly and tasted delicious! We tried a 10 inch vegan margarita and a 10 inch veggie. Both were fantastic! I think it's also important to add that the prices were reasonable. Often, vegan dishes cost significantly more than their regular counterparts. Highly recommend this location and will definitely be back.

The baked beans are absolutely delicious--rich, smoky, and full of flavor--but some days they lean just a bit too sweet for my taste. Just come prepared for a sweeter Southern-style bite!

I do wish the prices were listed. But the lady had no problem telling how much everything cost. She was nice and helpful. I got esquite and 3 tacos for $16. I do miss when I could find cheap tacos, but I guess it's comparable to other places in the area. The tacos come with onions and cilantro street style with double corn tortillas. I prefer flour tortillas, but they were ok. I do wish they grilled the tortillas first. The carne asada and al pastor were flavored well. They also come with 2 hot sauces on the side. The green one is mild and the red is spicy. I enjoyed the esquite. If your looking for a quick bite, stop by. My wait was only 5 minutes and they give you a buzzer if you want to wait in your car.

Bite of Maine has had me in a committed relationship with lobster for YEARS, and frankly, the other…read morelobster spots can stop calling. They simply do not compare. The lobster roll is the star of the show--tender, juicy, buttery perfection piled into a soft roll like it knows exactly how important it is. I will say, the amount of lobster seems to have slimmed down a little over the years...maybe an ounce or so? And yes, I noticed. I have photographic evidence! I've been sending pictures of these glorious lobster rolls to my sister for years purely to rub this delicacy in her face, so I basically have my own unofficial lobster-roll archive. The crinkle-cut fries are another must, especially with a little Old Bay sprinkled on top. That tiny dusting takes them from "good fries" to "hand me another basket immediately." And don't sleep on the fried shrimp platter. The shrimp are plentiful, nicely seasoned, and consistently one of my favorites when I somehow manage to order something besides lobster. I've had the whoopie pies. I've had the Snap Dogs. They're perfectly fine, I'm sure. But this body was not built on "perfectly fine." This body was built on the REALLY good stuff. LOBSTER. Bite of Maine remains my lobster-roll champion. Everybody else is just out here participating. Inside is cool and quaint, lobster eclectic with a community vibe. Service is fast!

My brother is in the hospital and may not see another Friday so I needed a good haddock fish fry to talk about with him .... and I found one even though it was not beer battered. A Bit of Maine offers a perfect seaside ambiance ... it's like stepping up to a clam shack. Yes, you have to wait in line because there is no table service. Young lady greeted me with a smile and gave me a sample of the chowder! Asked for tap water and she provided albeit in a rather small plastic cup. The tables are ready for diners ... ketchup, hot sauce and malt vinegar. Will admit that even for me the temperature was rather cool inside. It's a pleasant CASUAL ... VERY CASUAL ... dining room. Lots of take out orders came and went so obviously something good is happening here!! My platter exceeded expectations!! Lots of perfect French fries!! LOTS of them!! A decent sized cup of a little above average cole slaw. And a really nice piece of perfectly fried oh so sweet perfection (I already wrote perfect didn't I!) haddock ... ok, it wasn't beer battered so it was not a perfect rendering of a Buffalo Friday Fish Fry but I am not complaining because I was happy! The chowder (Yes, the sample convinced me!) was tasty in a briny sense of the word with lots of fish and yes lobster in it along with some potatoes. A large chowder would make a very satisfying meal. And, I hurried back to the ICU to tell my brother even though he couldn't answer. I am sure that like me, he was happy that I had such a great Friday HADDOCK fish fry!!

The mozzarella one is all cheese inside with the jalapeño one is a hotdog inside. Both were insanely delicious but I had a slight preference for the cheese one. The batter is delicious and the sugar topping creates that perfect savory and sweet balance. We also got an order of the Chinese donuts which came with chocolate and strawberry dipping sauces. Lastly, we ordered the triple sauced chicken which came with rice. Everything was delicious but the corn dogs are for sure the standouts! You must try one! I've never heard of them before, but shrimp po'boys are one of my weakness. When I got there, there wasn't any line probably because it was 30 minutes before they close. Their menu is simple and the meals are quite affordable compared to the other food trucks that serve po'boys. Of course, I ordered the shrimp po'boy with extra sauce on the side. The fries is already included on the meal so that was a plus. I waited for about 5 minutes as they cook my food. It was kind of awkward though standing next to the truck because the staff closed their window. I had some questions regarding the meal, but I had to wait until she opened the window again. As for the food, I was surprised to see that they use some kind of sour dough bread or french bread (sorry I do not know the difference). Usually whenever I order po'boys there, it is served in a hotdog buns. Therefore I really liked that it is served with a different kind of bread other than hotdog bun. The po'boy has a very good amount of huge shrimps. There's nothing special about their fries though. Overall, if they are in the area and I am having po'boy cravings, I will definitely be back.

This day I was fixated on food truck chasing so, I did and was very pleased. Four of my co-workers caught wind of my plans and followed suite. Not sure how location and placement are determined. This was a Thursday. Location was Lake Wright Drive tucked away in a GATED parking lot. I found out later all of my co-workers had difficulty finding food truck too but, still worth it! I ordered the Tripleta to go. It came with chips. I normally like VERY spicy food. This wasn't spicy but, I LOVVED IT! A lot of flavors and A LOT of TENDER meat! I'm thinking the tortillas had to be homemade as they were not like any tortilla I've ever had! THREE meats... Chicken, pork, and ham. The slaw was made perfect! Not too sweet nor too tangy. This dish was perfect! All of my co-workers were so happy with their dishes too! Two ordered the pernil & empanadas. Another ordered the Cubano. Now, I know I saw a pic of the Cubano w/ bread.
