    Pork Empanada...Beautiful color, but tasteless.
    Zach W.

I loved the idea of this food truck, but the food was extinct of the staple tastes often found in Puerto Rican/ Latin food. Where was the Mexican Mint, Cuban Oregano, Cilantro, Sazon, and most importantly, Sofrito...of which the establishment is named after? I wanted to sample a little of everything so I ordered the chicken tacos, and a pork filled empanada. The tacos had little, if any taste! Same with the empanada; the shredded chicken on the taco tasted identical to the pork. The Cubano sandwich, ordered by my wife, was a bit more tasty, and the bread was ideal for a typical Cubano. This came with a side of Plantains, which were ok, but nothing to rave about. Step it up Sofrito! I'll be back!

Not bad for my first "Virginia Beach food truck experience." Not 100% what I expected, but it'll definitely do. We went to this event called "Eat the Streets 757", which happens the third Tuesday of every month at the Virginia Beach MOCA, right near the oceanfront. A handful of food trucks gather, and you get your food, and enter the museum, and in the big (pretty) lobby, there are tables set up for folks to sit down and eat at, and there's also a band playing. We both chose to order from Sofrito - everything on the menu looked awesome! I had the Cubano - Cuban sandwich (pork, ham, mustard, pickles - pressed sandwich) and for my side - rice and beans with bits of potato in it!) That was probably my favorite part of the meal, my side. The sandwich wasn't bad either. My boyfriend was a bit disappointed with his Tripleta Burrito ("Three meat monster filled with pork, ham, chicken, queso blanco, crisp potato sticks, cabbage & tripleta sauce.") He said it wasn't hot enough, and I agreed after having a bite, and also thought it lacked seasoning. For his mac & cheese side, we both agreed that it tasted like they forgot the cheese! It even looked like "plain, just cooked, noodles!" I give it a 3 because of my order; for his, I'll let him review/rate it on his own. :) Again, I totally loved the rice & beans!

Puerto Rican food's on the move with Sofrito. Having tried them twice now, I'd say it's hit or miss. Once, the Cubano wasn't really toasted and super greasy, but the pork had a lot of flavor and was tender. Recently, it was seemingly the perfect panini; however, the crunch was there but the pork was bland and got stuck in my teeth. Other menu items include: the ranchero, which is a panini with honey turkey, chipotle mayo, queso cheese, ranch, and applewood bacon. They serve the sandwiches with plantains (which are solidly good), rice and beans (hatedit), or chips. They also have traditional rice bowls, empanadas, tacos, and chicken tortilla stew. This was my first time trying Puerto Rican cuisine, so I don't know how right it is. But I will definitely re-visit this food truck when they're on my block.

SO GOOD!!! Two chicken tacos w/cocacola!

Sofrito was at an event held by my church and I was very hungry and thought might as well! I got two chicken tacos with a coca cola(love the classic glass coca cola!!!) I fell in love at first bite ! Very flavorful . Best tacos I ever had! Service was great too!

Truck was parked up at the Latino Festival. Line moved pretty quickly and the food was seasoned well and tasty!

I hardly ever rate a FIVE star! This food truck is everything I have been looking for in VA. The line at the festival moved pretty quick and they take all forms of payment. The food is super favored and decent-size portions considering you are ordering from a food truck. I absolutely love Spanish food and I was impressed with the food and service.

    Cuban
    Naomi G.

I had my first Cuban here and it was great! The bread was crispy but soft inside, the meat was tender and flavorful and the pickles, mustard and I think relish complimented the pork and ham so well. Service was quick and friendly! Unfortunately the fryer died so I couldn't try the plantains but hopefully I'll get to next time. They also have glass bottle Fanta which just made the experience all the more delightful!

    Pernil bowl

Ordered the pernil bowl and though it was flavorful it was rather smaller than I expected. The alcapurrias but the spot though went back for seconds. And customer service was awesome.

    Cubano

Not bad. Not bad at all. Ordered a Cubano as it seems to be their specialty sandwich and it tasted delicious! The panini was toasted just right, and the pork had just come out of the grill so extra points for its flavor as well as quickness. A bit too greasy for me, but I'm just picky that way. Not sure if worth all $8 but hey, it's a food truck, so don't expect much less. At least not for decent quality food. And a decent portion. The menu seemed very limited which has its pros and cons. If you're only doing a few items, you bet they're gonna be good to amazing!

Our family was dining at a nearby, toddler-unfriendly restaurant so we decided to try out Cheese It Up. They are, by far, the quickest, most reasonably-priced food truck I've found in the area. For $8, I had the caprese appetizer. Their unique twist is what I would call a "tomato soup" drizzle which was delicious! The tomatoes were fresh, huge slices of fresh mozz and it was well-seasoned with salt and basil (I opted for no EVOO). My husband had the $11 Low Country Chicken sandwich which was a very yummy combo of chicken, pimento cheese and tomatoes, served with a pickle spear. It had a flavor reminiscent of buffalo wings without the heat. Pretty darn good! We were definitely happy with our selections and I will not hesitate to order again if I see them out and about.

The staff were nice but I do wish they had receipts where you can add a tip if you want without having them ask you out loud and having to say out loud how much to add. I feel since there are only two staff right in front of you, it puts you on the spot. A little uncomfortable. Especially since it's before you even received anything yet. Other than that, they were friendly, especially the gentleman doing the cooking. I had the Buffalo chicken dip before and it was tasty, too!

I have been here several times to pick up food, but this was my first time actually going inside to order. The line was long around lunchtime, but it moved quickly. It is fast casual style, so you walk down the line choosing what you want and then pay at the register. I honestly had no idea that was how it worked before, so I was prepared to wait a while. I was pleasantly surprised at how efficient everything was. I was in and out much faster than expected. While putting my order together, the man helping me handed me a sample rib over the counter. I am a very socially awkward person and do not handle unexpected moments very gracefully, so I probably reacted a little awkwardly. That part was on me. The rib was GOOD though. He was very kind about my reaction and even handed me a napkin. The whole staff was friendly, asking how my week was going and checking in to make sure everyone was happy. Even though it was busy, they clearly care about customer service. The food was great. The garlic and green onion sausage had so much flavor, and the bananamisu was the perfect sweet finish. I originally went in hoping to order the BBQ oxtail, but they were sold out within two hours of opening, which honestly says a lot about how good they must be. I had also gone the day before around 7 PM and they had already closed because they were sold out for the day. Just a heads up that they do close early if they run out of food. Overall, great food, friendly staff, and quick service. I will definitely be back and hopefully I will finally catch the oxtail next time.

Which is nothing new, but it moves pretty quickly. I'm a talker so I'll always find someone to talk to while waiting to make the time go by faster. Their flavor schedule changes, so follow them on Facebook. This week they had cinnamon sugar, klassic glazed, and strawberry. I got glazed and strawberry. I got a dozen last time and realized the texture changes after the first day. You can pop them in the microwave, but it'll never be the same as the fresh ones because they thicken up. So I highly recommend eating some before you even get out of the parking lot to get the best melt in your mouth experience!! The glazed is one of my favorite. It's a little crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It sincerely melts in your mouth. They're also pretty big, and while waiting you can see them making the donuts, with the glaze dripping off. It's exciting to get to the front after waiting in line. The strawberry one was good, but not better than the original glazed. I can't wait to try the lemon one. The staff is always friendly and they keep the line moving!! You can also preorder to skip the line. If you see them, I absolutely recommend stopping to try at least 1. You won't regret it. Lol. Check them out!!!

I've never heard of them before, but shrimp po'boys are one of my weakness. When I got there, there wasn't any line probably because it was 30 minutes before they close. Their menu is simple and the meals are quite affordable compared to the other food trucks that serve po'boys. Of course, I ordered the shrimp po'boy with extra sauce on the side. The fries is already included on the meal so that was a plus. I waited for about 5 minutes as they cook my food. It was kind of awkward though standing next to the truck because the staff closed their window. I had some questions regarding the meal, but I had to wait until she opened the window again. As for the food, I was surprised to see that they use some kind of sour dough bread or french bread (sorry I do not know the difference). Usually whenever I order po'boys there, it is served in a hotdog buns. Therefore I really liked that it is served with a different kind of bread other than hotdog bun. The po'boy has a very good amount of huge shrimps. There's nothing special about their fries though. Overall, if they are in the area and I am having po'boy cravings, I will definitely be back.
