If you love burritos, you need to track down The Coop food truck. Hands down my favorite food truck…read morein Virginia Beach! I stopped by during their pop up at Farmhouse Brewery and, once again, they did not disappoint. One thing you need to know: their burritos are massive. We're talking "the size of your head" big, so come hungry or be ready for some epic leftovers. The menu is small and focused (usually around four burrito choices), but every single one is packed with quality ingredients and flavor. The Coop spends most days serving on base, but keep an eye out for their local pop-ups. They're always worth chasing down. This time around, I ordered the Pepper Jack Chicken Burrito which was grilled chicken breast, maple bacon, melty pepper jack cheese, and their signature Coop Sauce, all bundled up in a warm tortilla. Every bite was the perfect balance of hearty, savory, spicy, and just a hint sweet from the bacon. Their Coop sauce is one of a kind. Tangy, and delicious. I'm sure adding an egg would take it to the next level (that's an option on all burritos). My friends had the Breakfast Burrito! This one comes with fluffy scrambled eggs, sharp cheddar cheese, juicy sausage, more of that craveable maple bacon, herby potatoes, and (of course) the signature Coop Sauce. They raved about every bite. I appreciate that The Coop keeps things simple with their streamlined menu and focus on top-notch burritos. Whenever I see them around town, I make it a point to stop ... even if there's a line, it moves fast and is absolutely worth the wait. Whether you're looking for a new lunch favorite or just crave seriously great street food, The Coop is a true gem on the Virginia Beach food truck scene. Can't wait to catch them at their next pop-up!

We've been here a couple of times, ordering new items, and loving everything. Things we would order again: spicy bloody mary, lemon ricotta pancake, chilaquiles, grilled chicken ciabatta. The owner is passionate and creates almost everything from scratch. They are mostly Mexican style dishes but add flares of different cultures in their weekly specials. Small restaurant but makes for an intimate feel. They are usually busy but we've always been able to get seat.

The…read morecrispy smoked gouda empanadas had a gooey, cheesy center and were suited for a quick appetizer. The tacos were flavorful with fresh cilantro and onion, and the grilled cheese sandwiches came stacked with fun fillings like jam, grainy mustard, shrimp and multiple cheeses. They were a standout -- the ingredients blended nicely, full of flavor, and each bite had a good balance instead of feeling heavy. Portions were generous and presentation was appealing. That said, the meat and specifically the cheese grits leaned on the salty side, which took away from the overall taste. The ricotta pancakes were the highlight, absolutely delicious -- savory, light, fluffy, and adding blueberries gave them a pop of sweetness and flavor. We also grabbed desserts to go, and they were just as tempting as everything else on the menu. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive, which made the meal even more enjoyable. Drinks stayed topped off and she was quick with recommendations. The atmosphere is casual and colorful with high-top tables, a lively bar area, and a bit of a hangout vibe. It feels like a good spot for a casual meal with friends or to grab drinks and tacos.

My friend has the tacos and she said her tacos at home are better. Even the bowl was just ok. Definitely not representative of Puerto Rican food at all. How can the food be both salty and flavorless. This day I was fixated on food truck chasing so, I did and was very pleased. Four of my co-workers caught wind of my plans and followed suite. Not sure how location and placement are determined. This was a Thursday. Location was Lake Wright Drive tucked away in a GATED parking lot. I found out later all of my co-workers had difficulty finding food truck too but, still worth it! I ordered the Tripleta to go. It came with chips. I normally like VERY spicy food. This wasn't spicy but, I LOVVED IT! A lot of flavors and A LOT of TENDER meat! I'm thinking the tortillas had to be homemade as they were not like any tortilla I've ever had! THREE meats... Chicken, pork, and ham. The slaw was made perfect! Not too sweet nor too tangy. This dish was perfect! All of my co-workers were so happy with their dishes too! Two ordered the pernil & empanadas. Another ordered the Cubano. Now, I know I saw a pic of the Cubano w/ bread. This time it was served w/ a tortilla. My co-worker wished it was on bread too but, said it was still verrrrry good! Gotta stalk Sofrito more as there are other menu items I want to try! Kudos!!
