After attending a birthday party and running errands all morning, we arrived at Big Ugly starving. I immediately jumped in line for FF when we arrived. - TLC - There was a woman cooking the food and a guy handling the orders. They were extremely busy as they were the only food option at the time, but the guy was still courteous. Despite the high traffic, my order was ready in 15 minutes, as promised. - Noms - The menu is simple and consists of various combos of a handful of items. This was great, because I was able to try most of their items in a few orders. I ordered: #1 - Pancit, Teriyaki Chicken, Lumpia #4 - Fried Rice, Orange Chicken, Lumpia A la carte order of Pancit Bottle of water Pancit - good. Teriyaki Chicken - sauce was thick and concentrated, good flavor. Lumpia - great size, packed with filling and made to order (could have had 10 of those alone) Fried Rice - I think with the amount of traffic that day due to the event, she was trying to make big batches quickly and the soy sauce didn't distribute evenly, so I had patches of both white and fried rice. It was still good. Orange Chicken - good flavor. They were big chunks of chicken with minimal breading, which I appreciate. Overall, the food was fresh and the portions were generous. Two combos and a side order of pancit fed our family (and my school age children don't eat like birds either). Note about my pics: my fam tore up the food before I could even say "Wait!", so the pics are not a true depiction of how much food and how it was served. FF shut down shortly after we finished our meals. I overheard someone saying that FF had brought 6x the amount of food they normally bring and they sold out in a few hours! Good problem to have! I wonder if FF is on a regular rotation at Big Ugly Brewing, but I will definitely be on the look out for them again! Stay safe, Friends!

The mozzarella one is all cheese inside with the jalapeño one is a hotdog inside. Both were insanely delicious but I had a slight preference for the cheese one. The batter is delicious and the sugar topping creates that perfect savory and sweet balance. We also got an order of the Chinese donuts which came with chocolate and strawberry dipping sauces. Lastly, we ordered the triple sauced chicken which came with rice. Everything was delicious but the corn dogs are for sure the standouts! You must try one! This is a family run business and you can tell they put a lot of work into their food. Go to Facebook or Instagram to find out where they'll be and try out their food. I'll be hunting them down for another mozzarella corn dog.

The doughnut was soft, fluffy, and had a texture that reminded me of a really good yeast roll meets a doughnut. I also loved that they offer rotating weekly flavors alongside their classics, like glazed and cinnamon sugar. It gives you something new to look forward to each visit. I would 1000% order the Apple Pie Glaze again, and I'm already looking forward to seeing what flavor they come up with next. Definitely worth checking out if you love a good doughnut!

This day I was fixated on food truck chasing so, I did and was very pleased. Four of my co-workers caught wind of my plans and followed suite. Not sure how location and placement are determined. This was a Thursday. Location was Lake Wright Drive tucked away in a GATED parking lot. I found out later all of my co-workers had difficulty finding food truck too but, still worth it! I ordered the Tripleta to go. It came with chips. I normally like VERY spicy food. This wasn't spicy but, I LOVVED IT! A lot of flavors and A LOT of TENDER meat! I'm thinking the tortillas had to be homemade as they were not like any tortilla I've ever had! THREE meats... Chicken, pork, and ham. The slaw was made perfect! Not too sweet nor too tangy. This dish was perfect! All of my co-workers were so happy with their dishes too! Two ordered the pernil & empanadas. Another ordered the Cubano. Now, I know I saw a pic of the Cubano w/ bread. This time it was served w/ a tortilla. My co-worker wished it was on bread too but, said it was still verrrrry good! Gotta stalk Sofrito more as there are other menu items I want to try! Kudos!!

Since I stopped in on 8/29, they were celebrating Michael Jackson's birthday and had a special menu available that included a Strawberry Matcha Latte! Yes please lol!!! My drink was ready in no time. I believe they only serve one size because I wasn't asked what size I wanted, but I wasn't complaining! The Latte was absolutely amazing! It had the perfect amount of sweetness and flavor. I hate that the Strawberry Matcha Latte isn't on the normal menu because I would order it again in a heartbeat. I guess that just means I have to try their other Matcha flavors lol. They have only been operating for a month now, this was their third brewery appearance. For appetizers they have a buffalo chicken dip and pimento cheese nacho- talk about solid brewery apps! Most of their menu items are types of wraps. Their special was chicken fajita tacos (Cinco de Mayo celebration) and for dessert they had a crispy ice cream sandwich. One unique thing that I don't see many food trucks do, is they offer kids menu items as well! Again- it is just their third day- this could all be totally different once they are more established and have tried different things. I opted to get the ice cream sandwich, because I'm a total sucker for dessert. I ate this first. Two crispy shells with a cinnamon sugar mix and if I'm not wrong it possibly a second seasoning that had a little kick to it. Maybe it was a touch of cayenne? Definitely not strong or overpowering in spice, just a little something to make it interesting. In the middle was a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a scoop of chocolate ice cream. The vanilla was complimented by the cinnamon and the chocolate was complimented by whatever that other ingredient was. I was definitely a fan! The more I ate the more I wanted more! I also got the chicken fajita taco special. I should point out that if I didn't go for the food truck option at Smartmouth I was headed to my favorite taco spot in VB. Maybe it was the unintentional comparison of the authentic street taco from my favorite spot, but these tacos fell a little flat for me. Not letting it really affect my review, because I did eat dessert first and then I messed around taking pictures before getting to them. It might be a "it's not you, it's me" thing with the tacos- I'll own this one. The tacos were served with a side of corn on the cob. It had a lemon cilantro butter which was fantastic! I'll definitely be craving that corn again sometime! The prices were on the lower-side of average for the food truck scene in Hampton Roads. Prices are another thing that might change as they are in business longer. They were also extra friendly from the moment I stepped up to the truck! Offering me whatever I needed and even getting out of the truck to come ask me a question of convenience, not necessity. I know several spots that would have just shouted it or not even bothered. So far so good! I hope they keep popping up at Smartmouth VB so I can try more of their menu and see how they change things up as they get a few more months of operation behind them! I'll definitely be updating as I try more! Next time I'm definitely going for the pimento cheese nachos!

I've never heard of them before, but shrimp po'boys are one of my weakness. When I got there, there wasn't any line probably because it was 30 minutes before they close. Their menu is simple and the meals are quite affordable compared to the other food trucks that serve po'boys. Of course, I ordered the shrimp po'boy with extra sauce on the side. The fries is already included on the meal so that was a plus. I waited for about 5 minutes as they cook my food. It was kind of awkward though standing next to the truck because the staff closed their window. I had some questions regarding the meal, but I had to wait until she opened the window again. As for the food, I was surprised to see that they use some kind of sour dough bread or french bread (sorry I do not know the difference). Usually whenever I order po'boys there, it is served in a hotdog buns. Therefore I really liked that it is served with a different kind of bread other than hotdog bun. The po'boy has a very good amount of huge shrimps. There's nothing special about their fries though. Overall, if they are in the area and I am having po'boy cravings, I will definitely be back.
