Norfolk isn't known as a foodie destination, but based on this first restaurant, the food here is pretty good and worth a visit. My friend who lives in Norfolk recommended it, and it's in a lively commercial spot near where we stayed. Parking was easy in the lot, and even with no reservation, 6 people walking in on a Friday night, we got seated right away. There's a handwritten note on the menu saying chips and salsa is one complimentary basket per table, and since we split into two tables, we ended up with two, which worked out nicely. Good queso to me comes down to viscosity. The thinner it runs, the better, gloppy queso is no bueno. This one ran right off the chip like water, which is exactly what I want. We ordered it to share and demolished it within a few minutes. Most of my group ordered tacos, which come in a single meat type, three to an order. Everyone ordered a different meat type and then traded so each person ended up with one of each kind, a fun way to try more of the menu. The fish tacos were a highlight for them. I was the only one who went a different direction, getting the chicken fajitas, which I split with a friend since the portion was huge, sizzling hot, loaded with chicken, peppers, and onions. My one gripe is they only gave us three tortillas for that much meat, so the tortilla to filling ratio was off. We left extremely full, and pleasantly surprised by how reasonable the food was ($30-40 a person, even with each person having a drink). Service was fast and friendly the whole night, and paying at the end was quick too. Drink-wise, the Trash Can looked very intriguing with almost 5 different liquor options, but I ultimately played it safe with a Paloma. Two friends got margaritas, one of which came practically the size of my friend's head, others had beers. My only real complaint is the drinks run sweet. I thought the Paloma would be the least sweet option, but it was still quite sweet for my taste. The margarita friends also said their margaritas were oversalted, like the salt fell in instead of staying on the rim. Small gripes aside, this was a great spot and I'd absolutely go back next time I'm in Norfolk.

We received a basket of nice, warm tortilla chips--which I'll give them credit for--but ONE small bowl of salsa that was barely filled. We had to ask for the white sauce, and when we requested another basket of chips, we were surprised to notice on the menu that additional baskets came with an extra charge. After we FINALLY received our drinks--which were all waters--and three small shots, the more experienced waitress essentially disappeared, leaving us with the clearly new and inexperienced server. I have no problem with someone being new; everyone has to learn. But if you're training a new employee, they should have support. We never received water refills, and the overall attentiveness simply wasn't there. The atmosphere didn't help either. There were flies around the dining area, and remodeling was being done, which definitely took away from the experience. Then came the bill. I HATE FEELING LIKE I PAID SO MUCH FOR SO LITTLE ITS RHW WORSE FEELING I have absolutely no problem spending money to take my family out and enjoy a good meal. What bothered me was paying that bill and feeling like the only thing I was paying for was the opportunity to finally LEAVE. When the food is good but the service and atmosphere make you regret dining in, something is wrong. The food deserves credit--it really was good. But based on our overall experience, I couldn't recommend dining here. If I ever ordered from this restaurant again, it would probably be delivery or takeout. Good food shouldn't have to overcome bad service.

The sandwiches were very average too. I ate the buffalo wing sandwich. The chicken wasn't bad, but it was just doused with some hot sauce. I love a grilled cheese with a massive amount of cheese, but with the hot sauce everything became a gloopy, greasy mess. It was hard to eat and everything kept sliding out. I never thought I would say this about a grilled cheese, but they probably could have done with not trying to stuff it with as much cheese and grease. I had to end up eating most of it with a fork. The loaded cheese fries with pulled pork did look really good! I wouldn't go out of my way to come to this place. The Coop spends most days serving on base, but keep an eye out for their local pop-ups. They're always worth chasing down. This time around, I ordered the Pepper Jack Chicken Burrito which was grilled chicken breast, maple bacon, melty pepper jack cheese, and their signature Coop Sauce, all bundled up in a warm tortilla. Every bite was the perfect balance of hearty, savory, spicy, and just a hint sweet from the bacon. Their Coop sauce is one of a kind. Tangy, and delicious. I'm sure adding an egg would take it to the next level (that's an option on all burritos). My friends had the Breakfast Burrito! This one comes with fluffy scrambled eggs, sharp cheddar cheese, juicy sausage, more of that craveable maple bacon, herby potatoes, and (of course) the signature Coop Sauce. Every time I see a "Philly Cheese Steak" menu item, I understand what u will get is not the cheesesteak I grew up on. That's okay. I'm not a die hard purist. I generally, however, don't order one. Hangry's, though, they had a Mexican Cheese Steak. That was .. interesting. I ordered one. Gentle reader, it was a really good steak sandwich. Great blend of flavors, cheese was creamy and yum. Truck staff were awesome, friendly and fun to talk with. They had quite a task feeding several hundred hungry warriors, mages, alchemists, bards and rogues. My only suggestion for improvement is one I make often with newcomers to the glory of the cheesesteak: you need a roll with good structure that absorbs the ingredients without falling apart. One with a serious crust and soft interior. Amorosos. Paganos. That kind. I would definitely order from their food truck again and I'd visit their restaurant next time I'm in the area.

I enjoyed each and every item but the standout to me was the brisket, I've never had a juicier more tender piece of brisket in my life! Ribs were done really well also, the burnt ends had tons of flavor, the sausage was delicious, and the pulled pork and chicken were winners as well. Let's check it out shall we? We were seated a minute after walking in. There were a few people dining inside on this cloudy day. The decor is nice resembling a type of restaurant you may see in New Orleans. Right when I was looking through the menu, I ran into Chef Moe who greeted me with a handshake. It has been years since we last saw each other but the vibes came right back since Sophia and I were long-standing customers. We couldn't talk long since he was busy, but it was great to run into him again smiling from ear to ear seeing me there. Great people indeed. How was the food you might ask? Pretty damn good. We both ordered their fried catfish meals with sides (mine came with fries and sweet cornbread and Sophia's with mashed potatoes and gravy and mac-and-cheese). The fish was seasoned perfectly and was huge. It was big enough to cover a football field (just kidding). The fries, as always, tasted great and the cornbread was delish. The both of us ended up taking home leftovers where the food didn't lose any taste from before. It was so refreshing to stop by after so many years.
