3-Chicken Tacos
Kevin G.

My wife got takeout from the General Booth Boulevard location. The chicken tacos were very disappointing. There were no discernible spices on the chicken, not even salt, and the chicken was very dry, covered by a thin layer of shredded cheese and a giant pile of shredded iceberg lettuce. I was pretty hungry, so I made it through about one and a half of the three tacos before I gave up.

Our four grandkids love this place too!!

We have 2 vegetarian adult children so this place has a great variety of food and it is all very delicious!! From soups to burritos to tacos!! It's really good and a great atmosphere! The workers are so helpful and very attentive!! We love it and go at least once a week if not more!!!

Chips and queso

Got the California burrito steak was over cooked but the fries we fried well. The chips and queso was underwhelming. Food took about 20-25 minutes to come out I ordered to go restaurant was clean lights were a little dim.

This is def one of my new fave Mexican restaurants! Food is fantastic, wait time is almost non-existent or not even noticeable (as long as you have good company). The flavor of every item is in every bite!! Finally a place where I get the best bang for the buck. I ordered the surf & turf burrito, a side of an elote and of course chips and salsa, guacamole, and cheese dip. Loved everything about this place. Big enough for a party of 12+. Everything was clean from utensils, plates, tables and chairs. Staff was very welcoming. Definitely will be back.

It took me a minute to catch the vibe. A bar, sit down seating, but you stand in a line like a fast food restaurant and order your food. It was like Moe's Southwest Grill had a baby with Red Lobster's ambiance. It felt weird. The prices was definitely a sit down, with a waiter, kind of prices, and that stand in line and order like Wendy's just didn't match it. But get past that strange set up, and let the food speak do the talking. And honey, I'm here to tell you, they UNDERSTOOD THE ASSIGNMENT for us vegans! Their menu options for vegans was impressive! I ordered Gardein chicken nachos with vegan cheese and vegan sour cream...and simply put, it was legendary! My four star review is only because the cashier told me if I wanted a true vegan meal, then to avoid the refried beans (they are not vegan). I ordered "chik'n" instead of beans and still got the beans and "chik'n". I didn't really mind because I ordered the guacamole as an appetizer--and it was heavenly. I ate so much guac and chips, I really was full by the time my entree arrived. When I go back (and I plan on returning regularly now), I will order just the guacamole and chips as my meal. I almost forgot--the Elote!! Wow! Let me say it again for those in the back of the room...WOW! It was corn on the cob perfection! I regret only ordering one serving. I won't make that mistake again. Yes. It really is THAT good!

Everything was delish. Reminded us of back home in Cali! Fish tacos were so good so fresh! Very nice of the owner Senor Pelon came out to meet us. Clean, friendly, delish. Highly recommend to get a taste of Baja Cali!

This was my 1st time at the Red Mill location. Plenty of parking which is nice. Very clean inside - you can tell it's new. I was there at an odd time of day so I was the only one. I decided to sit at the bar. And I made it for HH which was great! The bartender was very friendly once we started talking. I wish I got her name. HH was 3-6 Tues-Fri. Large margarita was $8 and 3 tacos were $8. They do have a kids menu and vegan options. They do have to be all the same. I got the Famous Fish Tacos. They came out incredibly fast. They were good. The tortillas fell apart so they were a bit messy. I added hot sauce - I thought they were a bit bland. I also ordered the chips and guac for 1. I like the chips because they are thin but they do have a tendency to break but I like them thin. The guac was kind of bland. And I know this sounds stupid but the dip to chip ratio was way off!!! I either want more guacamole or less chips. There was a huge amount of chips left over which were just thrown out. The menus do not have prices on them - prices are only listed where you order on the board. I would definitely go back and recommend. I would love to go with 2 people so we could all order different tacos and try more than 1 kind. :)

The Curl burrito. Deep fried white fish, refried beans, shredded cabbage, salsa fresca, lime and Baja sauce.

I've wanted to stop by Pelon's and give it a try for a while now bc I drive past it every day. For Friday night dinner last week we decided to do it. We browsed the website and saw they offer easy mobile take-out orders and I joined their program for rewards (sweet!). We chose a range of items from the menu and all were good. We got a single person serving of chips and salsa for $2.25 and a single person serving of chips and queso for $3.25. A single serving is enough for two people. The salsa was good with larger chunks of onion while the queso was a bit bland for me, the bf loved it though. He chose for his main course the Pelons Famous Fish Tacos (2 size) for $7.25 and he loved them. They were simple and good cali-style taco with breaded white fish, shredded cabbage, salsa and Baja sauce. Nice size and great flavor combo. I chose the not for the faint of heart burrito called The Curl for $9.35 + $1 up-charge for a wheat tortilla. This burrito is large and in-charge. It has tons of white fish inside, refried beans, shredded cabbage, salsa and Baja sauce. I also added jalapeño, onion, and cilantro for no extra charge on the app. Yum! It was big so I by no means finished it but it would do nicely for a person with a healthy appetite. We both also ordered Elote bc I LOVE street corn and we didn't wanna share. We got the standard with lime chili sauce and tons of cotija cheese. Yuuummmmm. One of the best versions of Elote I've had in HR. A single serving size is one entire ear of corn cut in half with sticks inserted as handles (easier to handle and less messy with the cheese all around) for $4. They have a Sriracha version that intrigued me.... saving it for another time. I like the menu and saw several items I'd like to try - service was quick and food was ready when we arrived. Chips were thin and light and crispy and everything was very good. I also saw some breakfast options with eggs. Great first impression.

Ugh... I hate that I was disappointed, because my memories of eating Pelon's 10+ years ago when I lived in Norfolk are of great food and good service. This just didn't compare... at all. The service was friendly (star #1) when I came in this afternoon and they were helpful to quickly prepare my take-out order and point out the salsa "bar" if I needed some to go. The chunky guacamole (star #2) is a must-order with the provided chips. The stars end here, I'm afraid. The salsa bar is nothing more than squeeze bottles so you can't really see what you're getting until you squirt it out. There are 3 options. They provide chips with the orders, but they were not at all salted and very thick, which I don't care for, but that's a personal preference. I love a thinner, super crispy chip. My coworkers ordered various burritos, and I may try one next time as they didn't have any complaints. I used to always get shrimp tacos in Norfolk, and they were my absolute favorite! I had the surfside salad, which is more topping than salad. I was digging through the mounds of tortilla strips, guacamole, salsa and cheese to find the lettuce. The shrimp were flavorful, but overcooked. I didn't need any dressing because of all the crap on top. If you want a light lunch, this salad is not for you! I think I was just disappointed because I had expectations and they weren't met. I'll probably give it one more go and change up my order.

Food was done in a timely manner, but not very good. Meats were drowning in a sea of slimy lettuce and lacking flavor. Meh and blah.

Here's the deal: Jessy's is located in a small shopping strip. While the building is a little older I did not think l it run down or in a part of town that I would consider questionable at all. I saw at least one review that noted this- could not disagree more., nothing to fear here. Plenty of parking and it's free! Once inside the restaurant is medium sized with seating for at least 15 parties and tables that can accommodative larger parties, 10+ people. There are two order stations at either side of the restaurant - one for hot food the other for ice cream and desserts. Service was friendly and attentive. You can choose to self order for takeout or be waited on. While staff wait on and bring you food and drink, pay is self pay at the food order counter. The menu is larger and has something for everyone. Proteins are optional for nearly every dish. The food here is authentic with lots of protections including some of my favorites- Al pastor and chicken tinga. Chips and salsa are scratch made and fresh- very good. We had street tacos which were very flavorful and also scratch cooked including the corn tortillas. Served with traditional hot sauces to add that little extra heat- awesome. The Al pastor was not grilled to get that char that some Al pastor dishes have but was otherwise spot on. Chicken tinga was perfect. If you are looking for authentic Mexican at reasonable prices, this is your place and absolutely worth a few minutes drive over. Hope to see you there sometime- happy eating!

We came here to celebrate a birthday, and it ended up being one of those meals where everything just hit. First off, those margaritas are no joke. Massive, flavorful, and strong in the best way. Bonus: they do $2 off specialty margs on Mondays, which is dangerous knowledge now that I have it. I went with the Coco Loco Margarita (1800 coconut tequila, coconut milk, triple sec, and sweetened flaked coconut), and WOW. It was creamy, refreshing, and honestly tasted like a tropical vacation. My friends ordered the House Marg, Peach Sangria Marg and the Spicy Pineapple & Cilantro Marg, all were just as impressive. The spicy one had a great kick without being overwhelming, and the peach option was super smooth and fruity. Before we even ordered, the complimentary chips, salsa, and that famous white sauce came out ... and let me tell you, that white sauce is to die for. I could've eaten that all night. For my dinner, I had the asada enchiladas, and I'm still thinking about them. Perfectly cooked grilled steak laid over cheesy enchiladas with verde sauce, plus rice and black beans. I loved that the steak was on top because once I got full, I could still pick at the protein (elite move). My friends got arroz con pollo, carne asada tacos, and the wildest dish on the table ... the El Molcajete. It came out sizzling in a stone bowl loaded with shrimp, beef, chicken, chorizo, cactus, and all the fixings. We all shared bites and it was unreal. We ended the night with the staff singing happy birthday and completely embarrassing my friend with a sombrero and a candle in his shot. Incredible. Definitely will be coming back, especially for that margarita deal and birthdays!

Happy hour was 3-6pm I think, and there were 2 taco specials on the board. I'm not sure if it was valid or not.. There was one person at the bar taking orders, serving drinks, and pretty much running the place. She was very busy. The anxiety of watching her try to handle everything made me a little uncomfortable. She was doing her best, and kuddos to her for not flipping a table and walking out. She was nice, but she asked us every 3-4 minutes if we knew what we were ordering. It was very aggravating. I don't think she realized after several times we were over it. The inside is pretty much a bar setting with a few booths. It's very dated and low-key kind of gloomy inside. I'd say this is a bar for locals, not really a restaurant. It's definitely the kind of food you could eat if you had a few drinks, maybe. But sober, heck no!! Lol. Ugh. I was excited to try them because they have some 5 star reviews, but it wasn't what I expected. When it was time to eat she went and got the cook from outside. We ordered 2 burgers and fries, and chicken nachos. We left and came back to pick up our order and the seats at the bar was packed at this point. The waitress met us as we walked in, with our food. I was hungry, so I tried the food in the car. The burger was definitely a frozen patty and thick as heck. It looked decent kinda sorta, in a way, maybe, just a little bit. Idk what to say. The fries were crispy but awkwardly greasy!! There was one tiny tomato on my burger and a huge onion that was a little moldy. I've never seen someone use a slice of onion this big on a burger. The burger definitely needed seasoning. I think if it had flavor it would have been decent. I'll give the burger a 4/10. My sister got the chicken nachos and she was not happy. Whatever mystery beans they had made were disgusting. They tasted old or something was off about them. The guacamole was a little sour tasting also, and the chicken was flavorless. She tried so hard to make it work, she even re-cooked the beans and it just didn't help. 2/10!!! She spent $25 and felt it was the worse decision she made all day. I wish I was exaggerating or something, but this is actual factual. The prices are reasonable, I'll say that. But it's definitely certain things to stay away from on the menu. I don't think we'd ever return. Maybe the tacos are better than what we had ordered. If you're looking for a drink maybe things would be better. I think they specialize in drinks over food!?

When i say they smelled like I was taken back by the look of things but when my crazy self tasted that mess my lawdt smh had my stomach doing flips. Also the guacamole tasted like that was old and sour. I have had guac with too much lemon or lime juice in it, this was like past its time only looked ok due to the lemon juice or whatever. Will not be doing that again. The ambiance was chill a few of those slot games bar area in the middle of the place a few tables around it nothing to really hype up. I will say even though we didn't care for what we had, maybe it was a bad day. ‍ Who knows other things may be good if we stop past that beauty store again, I'd go and try the lumpia or fried fish taco. Was told that they taste really good. lol honestly y'all go be the judge for yourselves could have been an off day.
