Let me tell you about the most amazing tacos I had!!! I got the chicken bacon ranch taco, the buffalo taco, and teriyaki wonton chicken taco. They were all amazing but the chicken teriyaki and chicken bacon were top notch! I also had elote, it did not disappoint at all. I love about an hour away and I'd drive there any-day just to try them again. They were mad quickly, they came out hot, and the service was great. I almost dropped my taco going to sit on the beach to eat them and I wouldn't rather dropped my phone on the water than to loose my food ok. I will be back again Amercian Taco you know hold my heart. YUM, I freaking love tacos! My employer was kind enough to summon this wonderful truck and my co-workers and I are definitely enjoying the assortment of tacos! Vampire style sounds so delicious but I didn't want to get basic tacos! lol I had to try the Teriyaki Wonton, Spicy Buffalo Chicken, and BBQ Pulled Pork. Super pleased! The teriyaki isn't too sweet, and the Buffalo is the perfect amount of spicy! To make a critique because this is a review, I wish the chicken was more tender but THAT's IT! These tacos were served up loaded with chicken, a juicy strip of bacon, tasty ranch and fresh mixed greens!! I loved the fried flour tortillas! We tried the Teriyaki Wonton Chicken Taco as well, the flavors were great, but a little on the sweeter side. If that's your vibe, these are for you! Yum Yum Street Corn was alright, my partner loves corn and wasn't wowed. I'm not a corn girl so I went with the free chips and salsa with my 3 Chicken Bacon Ranch tacos. The guy who runs the truck was really nice and I appreciated that. Very friendly. I got street corn and the teriyaki wonton taco. The taco I would get again without the slaw (I think it was slaw). The taco is a tortilla and even with all the sauce they put up there, like 8 minutes into having my taco that tortilla shell was still crispy and I really appreciated that. The street corn was eh. I like the container they use I just wish they made the top container bigger so you can just scoop the down out vs having to take the whole lid off. Very disappointing. We tried five of there six tacos and every on tasted like they spilled salt in every one. Also has a side of their rice and it wasn't salty but didn't have much taste. I should note that we visited there site at 27th Street in Virginia Beach, not the truck. read more

These are the BEST tacos!! You would not think it came off a food truck. I swear these food trucks are stepping up their game! So I first learned about The American Taco when my neighborhood event coordinator brought them in for our community day. They were such a hit, she brought them back 3x in a short time span!! Nate, the owner is such a vibe. He's very friendly and helpful into catering to your needs. I ordered the Teriyaki Wonton Chicken and has become my favorite. I haven't had any other taco with this kind of flavor profile. The chicken is very seasoned with a nice teriyaki kick, topped with marinated cabbage slaw, wontons, cilantro and Yum Yum sauce! The tortillas have a nice outside crunch to it from the quick griddle. The whole thing was a flavor bomb!! The tacos reminds me of California style tacos on steroids! He also have desserts that I will definitely try that next time but it sounds yummy. They have an Instagram page where they posts their next location spot. I'm pretty sure he will be in a lot of places this Spring/Summer like parks and breweries. Actually today, 2/22/22, he was at the brewery in Greenbrier. If you are a taco lover, then this is for you. The smell is coming from this truck was intoxicating. I love that the wait time is less than five minutes and I was kept in the loop throughout the process. The customer is impeccable. I had the vacuum ranch taco, which was full of meat and very flavorful. I also had the chicken teriyaki taco, and that one was juicy and I could tell that all the ingredients were fresh. All of my tacos were cooked to perfection. I have never tasted anything this delicious from a food truck. I love that the tortillas were slightly cooked. It added that extra bite to the tacos that I love I don't know what type of seasonings were used but whatever it was it was just right. All the ingredients were balanced which made these tacos Insane. Let's not forget the corn. It was sweet and savory. That corn packed a punch I was not expecting. Great little food truck with wonderful tacos. Tried them at Cova Brewing, and really enjoyed trying their offerings. Their tacos are served in fried "chalupa-style" tortilla shells. We tried a variety of fillings and they were all great, from traditional ground beef, to Asian-inspired, and even the vegetarian was delicious. Random trip to Smartmouth for a beer. Needed some food and found The American Taco. It's a small truck with big flavor. They had a few tacos on the menu so we asked for recommendations. They were right on. The beef taco is so good. It's described as the best of both worlds, half soft taco and half hard taco. The tortilla chips on top were a nice touch. The teriyaki chicken wonton had a ton of flavor, a hint of spice rounded out the bite. There was so much goodness in there that I finished with a fork. Lastly, ordered a side of street corn. It was good, had nice flavor but my taste buds were spoiled by the amazing tacos. If you are looking for a side, the corn is the way to go. In my opinion I'll just add another taco! read more

Service was EXCELLENT! Owner made great conversation and made our food quick, all while his one arm was in a cast, that's dedication! I don't normally go to food trucks but boy am I glad I did. I got my wife the Chicken Bacon Ranch and BBQ a pulled Pork taco and I got the Classic Beef and Spicy Buffalo Chicken. Since we ordered 3 tacos we got Street Corn side for free. The tacos are not Jan traditional crunchy shell. They are served on a warm flour tortilla that reminds one of pita bread. The tacos were nothing short of AMAZING. I loved both of mine but the Classic Beef is beyond belief. The flavor profile is practically perfect. The well-seasoned ground beef, the mixture of cheeses and toppings made it phenomenal. The owner takes care to put love into every taco he makes and the presentation is restaurant quality. I was honestly thinking this would be another ordinary taco spot but was I wrong! These tacos are extraordinary! I got the chicken bacon ranch and teriyaki wonton chicken tacos and was blown away by how their flavor infusions paired so amazingly. I also got an island lemonade to drink that was even more refreshing than a cold beer on a hot summer day. The bread pudding was requested by others over and over so of course I had to give that a try too. The slight crunch from waffle cone topping and the way the bread pudding is cooked gives it the perfect consistency and it just melts in your mouth.
