This was my first time at this restaurant, but I had heard a lot of good reviews from my coworkers who've been here before. When I walked in I was greeted by an employee there, Adam. I had 3 people in front of me in line and it didn't take long at all for me to reach the register and place my order. I wasn't that hungry but wanted to try the food out, so I got a Truth flounder taco for $4.95. The food was made quickly and tasted good! Bro's Fish Tacos has about six signature sauces which looked good, but unfortunately, they all have dairy in them, so I asked for the mayo based tartar sauce instead. While all the signature sauces have dairy in them, I appreciated that they stated that fact on their menu beside where their sauces were listed. I wish I had come about an hour later in the day because, after ordering, I learned that they have a happy hour from 3 to 5:30 each day where The Truth Taco is $3.50 and other dishes are cheaper as well. Some street fries were ordered for the table, and I had fished out about 5 fries without the sauce (because I figured there was a dairy sauce and cheese on top) and the fries were really tasty as well! The atmosphere inside is very fun and bright with huge glass garage door windows letting light in and colorful paintings of animals on the walls. If you have sensitivity to noise, know that they keep the music volume pretty low, but since the restaurant is right on the boulevard and has large glass windows, you're likely going to hear some noisy cars drive by. Overall, I had a good experience and would come here again, especially on a Tuesday, Sunday or after 3pm since that's when they have the best deals (which I appreciate)! read more

I hadn't had Bros fish tacos in a while so I stopped by for lunch. There were several people dining in, so I did togo. The staff was friendly and the wait wasn't long. The cashier even brought my order to my car because I wasn't aware it was finished!! That was super nice. I got the fried fish bowl. I added cabbage, beans, sauce, and sour cream. The bowl was pretty good, it was just more toppings than meat. I guess next time I'll pay for extra meat. Other than that I enjoyed the food. The fries were good also. They're like battered fries and pretty tasty. They were hot and fresh!! They have fried fish, beef, tuna, shrimp, and other taco bowls. Or you can get it as a taco. We stumbled on this place by mistake and I'm so glad we did! The food was amazing! I only ordered one taco and I was glad bc it was huge! It had so much Mahi on it I was impressed. My boyfriend got the Mahi bowl and again it was a huge portion of food and the fish was cooked perfectly! The staff were beyond friendly! They all spoke to us and made sure we felt welcomed! I arrived here right before noon and beat a huge lunch crowd. I got a tuna, Cobia, and a rockfish taco ($16) and it came out in about 10 minutes. The tacos were cooked fresh and very good! The other evening, I had the fish tacos takeout from Bro's. It's off US-58 a little northwest of the Naval Air Station, at the southeast end of a strip mall with plenty of parking. I's a brightly-decorated little place with indoor table-seating for around 30, a 4-seat bar, and a few umbrellaed 4-seat tables outside. It has a garage-style door that looks like it could open along one wall, though it wasnt open when i was there. They have very fresh fish, and I am guessing from the signs that the selection changes with what's freshly available. I had the rich buttery-tasting cobia! What a treat! Tender, juicy, firm, and flavorful, loaded with crisp shredded cabbage and house made fresh tomatoes onion cilantro pico de gallo. I took the creamy brightly-flavored dill sauce from several options, and warmed corn tortillas, which they doubled up. Also a small piece of elote street-corn on-the-cob, well-seasoned with a mildly spicy sauce of lime, butter, and crumbled white cheese. They have a nice selection of craft brews, too, including several on tap. This is a cute spot for dining-in, and the fish tacos are varied and quite delicious! I haven't been to Bro's since they were a food truck so I was excited to FINALLY get my butt there. Plenty of parking since they are in a shopping center. Bright and clean inside. They have tables to sit at or a bar. You order at the register and they bring the food to you. The food came out very quickly. They have HH and of course specials on Tuesday. They have alcoholic beverages like beer and Coastal Cocktails. I ordered a Truth Taco and chips and salsa and queso. I loved the thin and crispy chips. You could tell the salsa was made in house. Taco was a good size with fresh pico on top. Everything was great but not outstanding. I love flavor and I found these just weren't all that flavorful but they were fresh. I am definitely going back though to try some other tacos like the shrimp taco or one of their bowls. I found the prices to be reasonable. They have a couple of tv's and that was my only thing....I hate to even say it but I wasn't a fan of what they had on tv. It was female wrestling and they were kicking each others butts. I sound like such a Karen now but I think there might be other options for something to put on the tv. Come at me....I get it. Very straightforward menu which I appreciate.. I was happy they had grilled and fried options as most places only do fried. Can order take out or dine in.. there is also limited seating outside. One of the worst restaurants we have ever been to. Used to be good. Now they charge you for nearly everything. You have to pay extra for rice to be in your bowl. And extra to add cheese. The bowl (which is a small flimsy paper tray) has bland meat and cabbage. No one in my group liked the food. So overpriced. Maybe it's new management. I stayed with some friends in Virginia Beach and got the pleasure of eating Bro's Fish Tacos! I did not get to experience the restaurant itself because my friend got take out. From the photos, it looks like a cute joint. Great name! They weren't gone long either, so seemed like speedy service for what I assume was a lunch rush. I wanted to try a little bit of everything so we all shared chips and guac, queso, fries, and white sauce. I personally got a shrimp taco and a flounder taco. The guacamole was fresh and bright green! The queso was a hit as well. I'm not completely hooked on the white sauce, but it was a fun addition to try out. My shrimp and flounder taco were cooked perfectly. I really liked the garlic sauce on them. The toppings took up a lot of the taco. I would have liked some more fish. And although the flavors mixed well, I feel like the taco was lacking something. I'm just not sure what! I don't know what it is about Bro's - I'm not feelin' them. I've been to Bro's 2-3 times, although I haven't been in since pre-COVID. The staff is friendly and push out food quickly, but each taco I've had felt like something was missing. At Bro's, you place our order at the counter and pay. Their menu consists of tacos (of course), bowls and nachos. Nothing too crazy or over the top - it seems like they want to keep things simple. I remember them offering all different types of tacos - you order them individually (no multiple tacos entrees or combos, at least not when I've visited). I dined in each time I've visited. Their establishment isn't big, but they offer outdoor seating and have a bar. Bro's looks like they're equipped to handle happy hour patrons because their beer selection is rather large. I remember eating the Truth (beer battered flounder), Neptuna (grilled blackened tuna) and Shrimpin' Ain't Easy. I liked the latter, but the first two tasted identical. I didn't have a bad taco (none of them were rotten, unfresh, or anything of the like), but none of them wowed me. I think maybe I hyped up Bro's too much in my head because so many people raved about them. I know many love this spot, so some readers may take offense to this review. A friend of mine recently tried Bro's for the first time and loved it, so we butted heads a bit regarding Bro's. For me, their flavor profiles didn't stand out enough. And since they're all the way out near Lynnhaven, I came away a little underwhelmed. Let's put it this way - if a friend asked me to meet up at Bro's, I wouldn't push back. SIL was craving good fish tacos for his birthday, I quickly searched Yelp, and - BAM! - found Bro's , which is perfectly located near Lynnhaven Mall. Great reviews and couldn't wait to try! PROS: GREAT fish tacos, San Diego style! So fresh, and a nice menu variety. We all had similar items: fried Flounder ("Truth"), Mahi, and fried Pollock tacos, and a bowl of another of the fishes. Salsa for the chips and Dill Sauce for tacos were heavenly! I even loved the queso dip for chips, and I normally don't care for white queso. I mean, just darn delicious! Very friendly and helpful staff, patient with us noobs figuring out the menu. Hubby loved the nachos with shrimp, piled high and with a LOT of fresh jalapeños. Shrimp was cooked perfectly, but he's a meat guy and will definitely go for the beef next time. He got the Habanero sauce which was tasty, but way too spicy for me to finish a single covered chip. (The sign clearly says the heat is 7 of 10, and that's accurate.) Wherever they get the Apple Caramel Cheesecake, keep getting it from there! Holy moly delicious! CONS: I just didn't find my Mahi bowl flavorful at all. Even with the Dill sauce and a few squeezed lime wedges. Maybe also because it was grilled, and everything is better fried. ;-). HIGHLY recommend the tacos over bowls (rice is extra$ and comes in a separate bowl). The tacos are just better! Everyone in the party agreed on that. Rice was supposed to be cilantro lime, but I'm pretty sure it was just plain. Would really have appreciated the soda fountain to have ice. But it's more of an adult beverage kind of vibe, so I get it (photo). In all fairness, it was near closing by the time we finished, so maybe it wasn't the best time for a first visit. Bro's Fish Tacos is my absolute favorite place to go when it comes to fried fish tacos! Their portions - GREAT (only takes about 2 tacos to fill me up!). They have different kinds of sauces you could add to your food (my personal fav is the chipotle garlic aioli mmm). Their service - AMAZING (I never have had to wait long for them to fulfill my order). Though it may not look like much, I consider this kind of a hole in the wall place for tacos :) You can order online and grab this on the go! Or you can dine in and sit inside (or outside!). I have been a big fan of Bros after reading a recommendation when they opened the brick and mortar store. But the last 2 times I have been there, it was disappointing. Both times, my order was messed up. My most current order was for 1 mahi taco and 3 chicken tacos. The mahi was for my wife as I did not previously like their fish tacos, but that is a personal taste, not a statement of the quality. So I place the order, and while I am placing it, the woman at the cash register screams to the cook 1 mahi which is the first part of my order. Then I finish the order and pay , so I did not pay any attention of what may have happened next. When I got home, I got 1 chicken taco and 3 mahi tacos. I did not ask for a receipt as I used ApplePay, but I believe that when they are not busy, they make the food based on what is called out, not based on any ticket. The person packing the order was not the lady at the cash register or the cook. My wife said that the fish did not taste fresh as in the past and was very fishy. After tasting the fish, I separated it from the rest of the taco and had a vegetarian taco, throwing all of the fish away. I do not know if it is just the time that I go, or if an owner does not show up to supervise the staff. Very disappointing. read more

Not that impressed. I got the mahi tacos, not much flavor the garlic sauce was nice but was a little thin. The flour tortillas were cold and flavorless. The garnish was excessive. The guacamole was ok but it had tomato in it. The large chucks of tomato make it a little hard to dip or spread. Corn is an option upon request but it should be corn and flour on request. The tortillas should be heated and having a thin sauce makes it drip out while eating. If your from SoCal and are expecting something particularly change your expectation.
