Finely crafted Al Pastor on Friday and Saturday nights...after 7 because it slow cooks all dayyyyy

Been coming to this local dive bar spot across from Tautog's at the Oceanfront for a hot minute and I have got to say it's becoming my one of my faves. Great people and fast service. Food was reasonably priced and I highly recommend the chips, any cold beer, fish tacos and wings. Play some pool while you wait! Lots of hot sauces to choose from and Al Pastor tacos made fresh on Friday and Saturday nights after 7pm. Park in the lot behind it if there's no street parking. There's usually a kind gentleman that runs the parking lot there.

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The woman who greeted me and took my order was extremely rude from the start. She told me I only had 10 minutes to order. Shortly after I was seated, a group of four white men came in and were greeted warmly. They were immediately brought chips and salsa. I was not offered chips, salsa, or even water. The difference in service was noticeable and uncomfortable. When I received my bill, I was shocked to see that gratuity had been added automatically, even though I was dining alone. They also charged 50 cents for takeout boxes, which felt unnecessary on top of everything else. As for the food, it was just okay, nothing that made up for the poor service. Overall, the experience left a bad impression, and I would not return.

I was craving some fish tacos and feel as though I found a great beachside location to get a couple, with an even larger fish to taco ratio than I expected. The associated sauce and slaw were both tangy and delicious, while the fish themselves were flaky and perfectly cooked. Service was immediate and helpful right at the bar. I found comfort in not even having to watch the formula 1 Miami go qualifying on my phone as it was playing right up on one of the TVs!

Disappointed!!! This review is solely for the service. I've been down twice in the past few weeks, and unfortunately I should have written about my awesome service from the last time I was here. But nope, last night was the worst!!! First, I feel like it's common courtesy for most waiters and waitresses to have the woman order first. Not the case last night, which is also interesting because I came with a table of males. And I was the last to have my drink order taken. All throughout the evening, the waitress kept forgetting to bring my drink. There were several times where she sat at a table directly behind our table for periods at a time while I was chewing on the ice of my empty water glass. Food was good, but again the way it was served really made for an unpleasant experience. As she was handling our plates, I leaned forward to get a sip of water. Instead of waiting for me to finish, she hands a hot plate over my head while I'm drinking water to my son. Glad I didn't get the top of my head scalded. We opted to hang out and have a few more drinks. Again, I waited TWENTY MINUTES for ONE drink. I literally walked down the block to 7-11, smoked a cigarette and guess what? My drink was still missing in action. I normally don't like writing such unpleasant reviews, and I do like this place. But if I see the same blond that served this time, I'll certainly ask for a different waitress.

This place is a little on the divey side. Which sometimes means the food will be good lol. This was not the case. I walked in and from the outside looks like it might not be open but, pulled the handle and it was. Good thing cause I was starving and wanted a cocktail. I was greeted right away and employees seemed pleasant. My waitress was nice but sorry not outstanding, just ok. I'm from Texas originally so my opinion of the food might be too high standard. The tacos almost had like an Asian taste to it , Im thinking they put soy sauce in the marinade. Idk but that's not yum. the rice was mush, beans had an over powering taste of cumin . SMH. The only thing that was decent was the cocktail . I got the Baja crush . Sorry but, I will not be returning

If you're craving food that tastes like summer- head to Baja Cantina. That's the best description I've got for this spot. I visited a few weeks ago during Phase 1 of COVID-19 reopening so they did not have dining available yet. They had converted their side window to become a curbside pick up window though which was pretty rad. Our order was ready right on time, we got two lobster burritos and some wings. Everything was fantastic. I'll say it again, it tastes like summer 100%. Light, yet extremely filling. The wings were excellent as well. I've visited in the pre-pandemic days for drinks and haven't been let down. It also has never been super crowded when I've visited which I always appreciate. If you're in the area and want some great beach food, great drinks, and good vibes- this is where it's at!

Ordered steak and received ground beef. The GROUND BEEF was mildly seasoned and kind of mushy. The rice, beans and cheese sauce were good.

I walked in and was not greeted. A man was cleaning the bar and still didn't speak. I asked how do I order. He said "her". 10 minutes later and she finally addressed me. My food did not take long at all which concerned me. Once I got home I bit into undercooked scallops. I ordered steak and received bland ground beef in my chimichanga. The rice and beans were good. The cheese sauce was great. I will not be a repeat customer though. Maybe for queso and chips. Oh...and I was charged for a to-go plate.

Awesome place for tacos and a cold beer. New owners Aaron and Jordan couldn't be any nicer. This will be my go to for Mexican food.

Here's the deal: Jessy's is located in a small shopping strip. While the building is a little older I did not think l it run down or in a part of town that I would consider questionable at all. I saw at least one review that noted this- could not disagree more., nothing to fear here. Plenty of parking and it's free! Once inside the restaurant is medium sized with seating for at least 15 parties and tables that can accommodative larger parties, 10+ people. There are two order stations at either side of the restaurant - one for hot food the other for ice cream and desserts. Service was friendly and attentive. You can choose to self order for takeout or be waited on. While staff wait on and bring you food and drink, pay is self pay at the food order counter. The menu is larger and has something for everyone. Proteins are optional for nearly every dish. The food here is authentic with lots of protections including some of my favorites- Al pastor and chicken tinga. Chips and salsa are scratch made and fresh- very good. We had street tacos which were very flavorful and also scratch cooked including the corn tortillas. Served with traditional hot sauces to add that little extra heat- awesome. The Al pastor was not grilled to get that char that some Al pastor dishes have but was otherwise spot on. Chicken tinga was perfect. If you are looking for authentic Mexican at reasonable prices, this is your place and absolutely worth a few minutes drive over. Hope to see you there sometime- happy eating!

We came here to celebrate a birthday, and it ended up being one of those meals where everything just hit. First off, those margaritas are no joke. Massive, flavorful, and strong in the best way. Bonus: they do $2 off specialty margs on Mondays, which is dangerous knowledge now that I have it. I went with the Coco Loco Margarita (1800 coconut tequila, coconut milk, triple sec, and sweetened flaked coconut), and WOW. It was creamy, refreshing, and honestly tasted like a tropical vacation. My friends ordered the House Marg, Peach Sangria Marg and the Spicy Pineapple & Cilantro Marg, all were just as impressive. The spicy one had a great kick without being overwhelming, and the peach option was super smooth and fruity. Before we even ordered, the complimentary chips, salsa, and that famous white sauce came out ... and let me tell you, that white sauce is to die for. I could've eaten that all night. For my dinner, I had the asada enchiladas, and I'm still thinking about them. Perfectly cooked grilled steak laid over cheesy enchiladas with verde sauce, plus rice and black beans. I loved that the steak was on top because once I got full, I could still pick at the protein (elite move). My friends got arroz con pollo, carne asada tacos, and the wildest dish on the table ... the El Molcajete. It came out sizzling in a stone bowl loaded with shrimp, beef, chicken, chorizo, cactus, and all the fixings. We all shared bites and it was unreal. We ended the night with the staff singing happy birthday and completely embarrassing my friend with a sombrero and a candle in his shot. Incredible. Definitely will be coming back, especially for that margarita deal and birthdays!

Happy hour was 3-6pm I think, and there were 2 taco specials on the board. I'm not sure if it was valid or not.. There was one person at the bar taking orders, serving drinks, and pretty much running the place. She was very busy. The anxiety of watching her try to handle everything made me a little uncomfortable. She was doing her best, and kuddos to her for not flipping a table and walking out. She was nice, but she asked us every 3-4 minutes if we knew what we were ordering. It was very aggravating. I don't think she realized after several times we were over it. The inside is pretty much a bar setting with a few booths. It's very dated and low-key kind of gloomy inside. I'd say this is a bar for locals, not really a restaurant. It's definitely the kind of food you could eat if you had a few drinks, maybe. But sober, heck no!! Lol. Ugh. I was excited to try them because they have some 5 star reviews, but it wasn't what I expected. When it was time to eat she went and got the cook from outside. We ordered 2 burgers and fries, and chicken nachos. We left and came back to pick up our order and the seats at the bar was packed at this point. The waitress met us as we walked in, with our food. I was hungry, so I tried the food in the car. The burger was definitely a frozen patty and thick as heck. It looked decent kinda sorta, in a way, maybe, just a little bit. Idk what to say. The fries were crispy but awkwardly greasy!! There was one tiny tomato on my burger and a huge onion that was a little moldy. I've never seen someone use a slice of onion this big on a burger. The burger definitely needed seasoning. I think if it had flavor it would have been decent. I'll give the burger a 4/10. My sister got the chicken nachos and she was not happy. Whatever mystery beans they had made were disgusting. They tasted old or something was off about them. The guacamole was a little sour tasting also, and the chicken was flavorless. She tried so hard to make it work, she even re-cooked the beans and it just didn't help. 2/10!!! She spent $25 and felt it was the worse decision she made all day. I wish I was exaggerating or something, but this is actual factual. The prices are reasonable, I'll say that. But it's definitely certain things to stay away from on the menu. I don't think we'd ever return. Maybe the tacos are better than what we had ordered. If you're looking for a drink maybe things would be better. I think they specialize in drinks over food!?

Also the guacamole tasted like that was old and sour. I have had guac with too much lemon or lime juice in it, this was like past its time only looked ok due to the lemon juice or whatever. Will not be doing that again. The ambiance was chill a few of those slot games bar area in the middle of the place a few tables around it nothing to really hype up. I will say even though we didn't care for what we had, maybe it was a bad day. ‍ Who knows other things may be good if we stop past that beauty store again, I'd go and try the lumpia or fried fish taco.
