Quality day after sightseeing and visiting the museum so we decided we wanted a sweet treat. We found the Fudgery and thought we'd stop in. We thought they'd be making fudge and showing us the process of everything, but that wasn't the case. It was just a girl behind the counter, selling some sweet goodies. We ended up with a brick of fudge and three gourmet apples. And a turtle. My daughter absolutely loved her Brick of fudge and the gourmet apples were fresh, gooey, and tasty. I also bought a turtle pecan cluster. I didn't really care for it. The girl actually recommended it, but it just wasn't what I thought it was going to be. The caramel itself was kind of grainy and lacking. The place was clean. It was in another shop area. The girl working at the counter was friendly, helpful, and mentioned the caramel apple discount because we had bought so many. Which was sweet of her. If you're looking for a sweet treat, definitely stop in.

Got the strawberry cheesecake ice cream. The ice cream tasted artificial but was nice and thick. The service was ok.

"Well, I waited for you inside of the frozen traffic When you knew I had some other place to be Now, where are you tonight, Sweet Marie?" (Bob Dylan) Regardless of your name, if you have a sweet tooth like Sweet Marie, you have to make a beeline over to the Fudgery. They have all things sweet - and it's all manufactured right here every day, so you'd be hard pressed to find anything fresher. Have a hankering for fudge? They have twelve varieties sold in half pound slabs. Or maybe you have a weakness for Dipped Apples? No worries, the Fudgery has five varieties tricked out with goodies like caramel, M&Ms, chocolate chips, chocolate drizzle and more. Or maybe you're in the mood for something frozen, oh, say ice cream, milk shakes or smoothies? Get your brain ready for that freeze rush, because you can get chill pretty quickly here. Or maybe you want some special treats for good behavior? Good luck choosing between their Pralines, Clusters, and Industrial Size Rice Krispies Treats. We shared a gigantic Oreo Rice Krispy treat, dipped in chocolate, and a white/milk chocolate drizzle. It was embarrassingly huge and cost $7.86. Believe me when I tell you that half of it was almost too much to have at one sitting. And it was decadently delicious!

I thought the place was closed. No one attending the front area. I stopped by a few days later, there were two people there. Both were rude. They acted as if there were better people to serve. A woman walked up to the fudge case area. The employee who I was talking to, abruptly left me and went to her. The other employee walked over to me as I was leaving. He asked me what I wanted. He claimed he couldn't hear me. I told my niece to tell him what she wanted. He said, "I assume you want one scoop." The other employee came back to the cash register, she rang it up. I paid. Then she asked if that would be all. Waterside is a tourist attraction. But, that doesn't mean that you treat paying customers poorly.

We stopped here for some dessert. We got a piece of dark chocolate, which my partner enjoyed and I got a sorbet. The lady who helped us was very nice! It was nice because there is a huge seating area with arcade games and a bar as well to hang out. It was Friday night football and we thought it was a fun way to watch the game.

So today was my very first time truly stopping to check out this delightful spot. I enjoyed watching the fudge being spread and manipulated into tasty deserts. It really smelled heavenly. I also could decide on a juicy granny Smith dipped candy apple or a mouth watering chunky turtle. So yup you guessed it I got both. Decided against ice cream but I plan to come back and check out their cool frosty treats next time. Very friendly staff and also super helpful. I was like a kid in the candy storing pointing to the precise desserts I wanted. Sorry no pics of the candy apple I ate it and it was finger licking good.

I could not pass this up. I was inside for an event and realized they were still open. So I took a chance. Oooo they offer a military discount thank you for that. My favorite flavor.. vanilla... yeah I said it, vanilla. I did enjoy the peanut butter, but it was not a strong peanut butter taste. The cookies and cream was good. Out of the four flavors I got 2 were kinda dry and breaking apart when I was cutting into them. I personally prefer my fudge to be soft and buttery. Other than that, everything was good. Pricing was very reasonable.

Looking for last minute ice cream at 8p in downtown Norfolk, Yelp to the rescue. 24+ varieties, free samples on request. 2 scoops for $7.80. Highly recommend "Rush Hour" flavor. Coffee ice cream with caramel and chocolate chips. Nom nom nom! City garage or street parking isn't ideal but doable. Enjoyed live music from OK in the marketplace area while sharing the treat.

It's good. Just good. Heavy on the Caramel. Not a lot of Chocolate Flavor. Salted Pecans are perfect!!! Pricey. This one piece was $8.99. I might try the Rice Krispy if I stop by again.

09/02/2019: Ice cream was ok, but I opted for just one scoop of each.

Review #248 - 2019 While walking around the Waterside District, my daughter needed to use the restroom so we decided to head inside and see if there was anything interesting. Of course, how can a child refuse ice cream? Even as an adult, I'm always tempted to go get some. My daughter really likes chocolate and peanut butter so I got her a scoop of the chocolate peanut butter. I also thought the strawberry cheesecake was pretty good, since she likes strawberry as well. Unfortunately, you can't get two flavors in the regular size cup so I upgraded to the large to get two flavors. I opted for just one scoop of each because I didn't want my daughter to have too much sugar before we went back home for dinner. I ended up getting her the dipped marshmallow with M&M's for later, which she ended up hating so it was a good and a bad thing. Good thing that she didn't have the extra sugar, but bad that I wasted my money. I was also convinced by my girlfriend to get the dark chocolate fudge to take home for my hubby, which was extremely sweet so he has been eating one small bite after dinner every night. Poor guy! Service is friendly, but I wouldn't come out of my way for any of the sweets here.

I'm not a sweets person, but I definitely loved the fudge in The Fudgery. It was also my first time trying a fudge. With our fingers crossed, my boyfriend from Michigan, who has indulged in fudge shops from Mackinac, was hoping to find a fudge shop in Norfolk. A quick search in Google Maps and The Fudgery was the first find. The Fudgery is located in the water district inside a huge building that is food-court-like with a mix of bars and stalls/restaurants that serve great food. There is parking beside the building, but you'd have to pay a parking fee. The staff selling the fudge were very enthusiastic and actually allowed us to sample as much fudge as we wanted, in which they had a couple different types: cookies & cream, dark chocolate, rocky road, butterfinger, chocolate peanut butter, and more. The lady taking care of us gave us a 15% discount on the fudge we bought because of my partner having served in the military. However, the price of the fudges are up there. Instead of being able to buy smaller blocks of the fudge, you are limited to purchasing half a pound, which was an entire slice of fudge. That costed about ~$9 for one fudge without the discount, but the taste is great and definitely worth it especially if you have a sweet tooth!

Everything I've had here is delicious, but here are some of my favorites: UBE BLONDIES *** Probably one of their most signature items that stays on the menu season to season, this crumbly, satisfyingly dense, soft baked good with that nice punch of ube flavor will really have you coming back for more. The frosting glaze is just perfect, adding that sweetness that carries the ube flavor really nicely. The texture is just soooo satisfying, you can just tell when you cut your fork through it that it has this airy, yet dense and crumbly texture. TURON FRITTER Kind of like an apple fritter, but oh so crumbly, delicious, bright, and soft on the inside. Also had their brown sugar boba pudding cup when it came out, and it was really good; the tapioca actually blended quite nicely and was chewy and fresh, which means you're not stuck chewing it forever. Definitely on the sweeter side, but brown sugar items tend to be that way.

The inconsistency alone is enough to make you question the value. This place is already overpriced, but I could overlook that if the service was pleasant. Unfortunately, it's not.
