This was my place to go this summer. The food was okay. Especially their ice cream treats.

Norfolk people, don't sleep on On Ice! They're so kind and their pagash (and pierogies) are delicious. When I messaged them this morning, I didn't realize that they closed at two on weekdays, so I asked about picking up pagash around 4:15 after work, and the wonderful person I messaged said no worries, that he'd coordinate with the manager of the Little Caesar's beside them and I could pick it up from them instead. Both places went above and beyond with their customer service! Def check them out if you haven't yet! (Pagash is bread, potato, and cheese, so you literally can't go wrong! Me and the wife were in the mood for something sweet and cold since the weather was warm. We just finished dinner so decided to grab somewhere for dessert and found this little place near by. Once we arrived we were a little confused where the business was since it shared a building with Little Caesar's and their sign over shadowed their business. Non the less the parking was good and we found it around the corner. Once we entered we were greeted and were helped with the menu and showed their variety of desserts to choose from. Me and my wife decided to get the N2 I.C.ED size with nitrogen spheres and up to three flavors and the Glo-Cone which is bigger with 4 flavors. They were both amazing and watching them make the nitrogen spheres were exciting to watch. Think of the treat as a plastic upside down sombrero and they fill the middle with flavored nitrogen spheres, then put a bunch of shaved ice on top and then add all the flavors you love. It's fun and delicious! The price was reasonable, for both it was around $10 and the cleanliness of the business was great! So if you're ever in the area and want to try something new and different for dessert, than this is the place for you! We will definitely be trying this place again! Thank you On Ice! read more

Came here based on the great reviews, but left with a disappointment. 1. Hard to find. The location is absolutely DOMINATED by a giant Little Caesar's pizza sign. The only indication there is another business is a small chalkboard as you walk up to the business. 2. The staff was rude. The woman working behind the counter literally made visible and outward sad faces of disappointment every time a customer came in - including us. I am glad my child didn't pick up on it, but I noticed and felt extremely unwelcome and burdensome. She mentioned her hands were cold, and I sympathized with her, but don't be mad every time a customer comes in. read more

Ice cream looked pretty but tasted pretty gross. Brownie was stale, and the chocolate chips tasted pretty rancid. Inside the store was kind of gross as well. too bad i don't live closer. It's GOOD. I was expecting a dippin dots kinda thing, but it's WAY better. kinda reminded me of astronaut ice cream but better because of the toppings. I LOVED it. Be careful or you'll miss it! This place is attached to a Little Cesar's and easy to bypass. The server was nice. The inside seems like they are going for a 1950's feel, but they aren't quite there yet. I enjoyed my ice cream, and my partner did as well. We came here on a craving and a whim! I was definitely coming for the shaved ice. Upon entering we were nicely greeted by a gentleman, I'm thinking he may have been an owner or the manager because he was very informative about his products and he was very customer friendly. I decided to get the sphere ice cream, because personally I was here with my young son and I thought the experience of watching them make it with a liquid nitrogen would have been cool and THAT it was. I ordered the brownie sundae made with the liquid nitrogen Sphere ice cream balls. Now please keep in mind there are different ways to get your ice cream you can have it traditional, sphered which gives it more of a crunchy texture Or you can opt for a shaved ice. Really neat to watch cream and flavor turn into ice cream right before your eyes. The Nitrogen frozen NICE cream is crunchy and cool. A very unique ice cream experience for both adults and kids. They serve shaved ice, sundaes, cones, milkshakes, pierogis, sloppy joes, etc. We LOVED the ice-cream but overall hoped for a better customer service experience. We will return for more Nitrogen frozen ice cream BUT holding on to hope for a friendlier customer service experience. Parking is limited but the location is not very busy. Have been here a few times. Definitely a weird feel if you come late. They close at 10 but we went once at 9:30 and they were "out" of everything and chairs were up so we left. Employees clearly have orders not to work past 10 or something so they clean up at 830 and seem annoyed to serve people at 9 or later. Weird. Ice cream is good. We live close by and rode our bikes over for something cold and sweet on a hot summer night. It's a really cute spot with great patio seating. The inside was clean and the two staffers were nice and friendly. It took us a while to figure out the menu. It's an interesting concept where they mix your ice cream while freezing it with liquid nitrogen. This process has potential, but I'm not sure the staff had a grasp on how to execute it. I ordered banana ice cream with butterfinger toppings. What I got was a half-ice, half-liquid mess that leaked out of the bottom of my waffle cone. Also, the waffle cone was crazy fragile. I could barely taste the banana, and the butterfinger topping were piled on the top so most ended up on the ground. It was a soggy, tasteless disaster. All four of us essentially had the same experience and ended up throwing most of what we ordered away. After spending about $30, that was super disappointing. I think On Ice has a good concept going here. I looked at the mostly positive reviews that folks have left. My guess is that our experience was an execution thing. Perhaps new staff, or an off night. I respect that staffing during COVID-19 has been challenging as well. I do want to try the shaved ice, and their iced drinks looked good as well. We'll probably give it another try. read more

Yess! This place was amazing! I saw it on a tik tok and just had to come by and try it for myself. The service was good and they were super nice! The NICE cream was not too sweet but had just enough sweetness to make it a tasty, refreshing dessert which is rare for ice cream to be refreshing.. They also have shaved ice and regular(traditional) ice cream scoops. I recommend this place to anyone in the area or that is wanting to try nitrogen ice cream! Stopped by on a Thursday night and ordered two ice cream cones, the server clearly saw the cones were all broken but served us our ice cream in two broken cones, I asked if he had any other not broken cones and he replied "I just got in...". On my way to pick up my son after school, I stopped to get us pizza. With a little time to spare, I decided to venture next door. Nice quiet mid-day mid-week. I wasn't sure how to read the menu. Manager/Owner kindly finished his orders and came around the corner to explain it a bit. A little overwhelming to take in if you're not sure of the flavors or texture you want to start with. Any of the flavors can be made into 3 textures; Italian ice, ice cream-like, or milkshake. The ice cream-like nuggets remind me of larger nugget sized dippin dots. Held together by the quick freeze process of nitrogen. If any of that made sense?! I highly recommend! Bring the family and get creative. Estimate $5-9 per person. The manager (owner?) was super friendly and informative about their extensive menu full of slushees, shaved ice and specialty sundaes. The best way to describe the style of ice cream is dip and dip texture about the size of pop corn kernels. It sounds weird, but it was DELICIOUS. The ice cream wasn't too sugary and the soda slushee that my fiancé got was delicious. This place is a joke. I took pictures and I'm going to report this establishment to the health department. There were 3 young men there. Two of them were working and doing so without gloves and the other made himself some sort of ice dessert while more than a dozen people waited to helped. I placed an order for three people. We waited 45 mins and my friends ice cream was completely melted before she received it. And did I mention they weren't wearing gloves. When I asked for the owners name and a refund the taller of the three young men told me to go to the website. Clearly no cares about this business or the people they serve. They actually made a mint oreo ice cream on the spot for me right in front of my eyes using liquid nitrogen -- awesome visual and experience. Product: The ice cream tastes great, as do the shave ices. Have tried chocolate, a banana split, Samoa (tastes just like the Girl Scout cookie!), and peanut butter lovers sundae. All flavor good, but will echo other reviews that the ice cream was a bit melty by the time we received our orders. People: The service is subpar. As a business owner, I certainly wouldn't want these untrained kids representing my business. On two visits, there were teen employees messing around/goofing off. I absolutely support teens with jobs, and employers giving them a shot. But train them and give clear expectations on attitude, performance and professionalism. Chic-fil-a has great young employees for that very reason. Process: slow, and a bit clunky. I think it could be a great business if they can iron out the employees! I will give it another shot, and hopefully we'll see improvements next time we come around. I like supporting smaller local businesses and believe On Ice can be a local staple. read more

There really aren't many ice cream shops that are major branches in the area. On Ice is a great small little shop that has a vast menu. You can get lost in all the flavors, beverages, and types of ice cream to get. Let the chubby kid inside of you come out and get crazy and amazing tasting ice cream that'll definitely put a smile on your face. I just had the BEST ICE CREAM I've ever tasted in my life. It was the last of their homemade Peach, which is apparently just a seasonal summer flavor. I got the very last container! It was incredible! I am so glad I stopped in today! We recently moved here and have been exploring new food experiences. I initially couldn't find the shop and had to call, but after the owner explained that it was in front of the Little Caesar's, I found it! I was so excited to find homemade pierogi too! A favorite of mine for years from back home in PA and hard to find outside of Pa. They are frozen but thawed out quickly and are ready to sauté in butter and onions and the result.....magic!
