May is Lupus Awareness Month. Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks healthy tissue, affecting the skin, joints, and organs. The Social Butterflies Foundation is the only nonprofit in Hampton Roads dedicated specifically to supporting those with Lupus and Fibromyalgia. Today I watched as the young lady, who appeared to be working alone, made snowballs with one glove on her right hand and no glove on her left hand. I stood and watched as she made two snowballs and then realized that she needed more snow. She adds more snow to both cups and proceeds to push the snow with both the gloved and ungloved hand.
