Owner was rude! Last…read moreFebruary my husband and I flew to Norfolk and took the ferry to Portsmouth for the day. We found this shop and a beautiful (and pricey) piece of pottery in the front window that unfortunately I could not fly home with. Fast forward to today over 5 months later and it's still there. This time we drive and it was coming home. BUT... when I entered the shop the owner or employee was upstairs and when I said I needed help she continued to yell from above instead of coming down to the COMPLETELY EMPTY store. I explain I'd like to see the piece in the window and the she replies "Well I can't just take it out." I say "Even to sell?" She starts shuffling down stairs and muttering and says "I can't just take it out to look at" under her breath but loud enough for me to hear. Well that was it. We just told her not to bother herself and left. Enjoy your completely empty shop when it's closed because you can't be bothered to actually sell anything. And I agree with the owner... She had zero patience to actually sell anything. Not on the phone not doing anything but sitting upstairs and didn't want to be bothered. Just laziness. If you don't want to sell something big and can't be bothered to move it maybe don't put it in your display window or hire someone not rude and lazy. I try to shop local and support local businesses but if you don't want to be bothered and then LIE about it then you don't deserve the support. And if you were sorry you did a poor job of showing it.

Upon entering the shop, if you go to the right you can enter Jessy's taqueria/restaurant, but if you go to the left you will enter the convenience like storefront. There were quite a few unique items they had here that you may not find at an international market like different flavors of Takis, seasoned meets like Al Pastor, and even a baked goods section where you can select your own pastries to go. I got my all time favorite "candy" called Limon 7. It's salty and very tart; if you like that flavor combo, I highly recommend it! They also had pre sliced tres leches cakes and even a paletas cooler!! We will definitely get some paletas on our next trip. The service was friendly and the selection was vast. When checking out you will have to be charged by a different vendor for their baked goods and I don't think they take Discover. SN: parking lot is SMALL as it's shared with several other businesses. We got extremely lucky and saw someone pulling out as we pulled into the lot.

I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon after church and ordered the chicken salad sandwich (Freemason). Fresh, flavorful, and exactly what I was craving. When the weather's nice, I always try to grab a seat on the patio. It's such a relaxing spot to enjoy a good meal and soak up a little sunshine. Also, I have to shout out their potato salad is one of the best around. Creamy, just the right amount of seasoning, and always hits the spot. TASTE is the kind of place that makes you proud to support a growing local chain. Great food, great atmosphere, and always a solid experience.

Based on visits over the past 5 years, which have been spaced further and further apart, I was hesitant. And my hesitancy proved to have been warranted. Husband's Northender on Multi grain My Princess Anne also on multi grain. Bread was so dry and stale that I simply struggled to eat the filling. The tomatoes were that hard, white inner core that most people would not feature on a sandwich. Finally in frustration I walked up and asked for a slice of baguette, which was the main meal's only redemption. Let's not even talk about what has become barely a step up from snack pack desserts. Both my (Bakehouse--oh my gosh, are they kidding?) gold brownie and my husband's blueberry mishmash had one bite from them before they too went straight into the trash. (Both tasted more of chemical, than of food) Sadly, what used to be one of our favorite weekly visits pre-Covid, has become less than lackluster, and far from its name. Rather it should be renamed yet again, from the original, Taste Unlimited, to Taste and now should be called, Tasteless. For the price of $50, one would think the meal would at least be edible. Hopefully this review will help me remember why we stopped going. Definitely do not recommend.
