Pumpkin pancakes eggs and chicken sausage

This is our usual breakfast spot because it is usually at least a four star. The best thing about our meal was the server. She was great. Everything you want a server to be. Attentive and smiled and kind and nice. The food wasn't so great, my wife ordered the special sandwich. It was good but messy and not great. She liked the flavors but it dripped everywhere. I ordered a hash and the potatoes weren't all the way done some were some were not. The eggs were fine but there was huge chunks of tomato the sun dried kind in it. It was not their typical affair. We decided to share a pancake. It was huge which is not a bad thing until you cut into it now I have a cardboard textured pancake that I cannot eat. It was not fluffy nor had any good flavor. Not certain on returning as my wife and I make a pretty mean breakfast at home.

Morning Meditation

Food was delicious! I wish there was more steak in the hash but other than that it was very good. I sat at the bar, because it was so busy. So it was a little louder than I think it would have been if I sat at a table. The Morning meditation was so good that I paid to take it home! Definitely coming back.

Upon arrival I was greeted by Briana, she was every woman lol. She greeted me, took my order, and checked on me. She provided excellent customer service! The food was good. I had the Trefeca with eggs, sausages, and a Belgian waffle. The eggs were good just a little too cheesy. The waffle was fresh and airy. The sausages were cooked just right. The morning meditation drink was delicious!

Busy Sunday morning fresh out of a great church service hunger led us to First Watch. I've forgotten all about this restaurant. We received a friendly greeting as the greeter opened the door for a sweet old lady like me. I was very appreciative of his act of chivalry as my husband followed behind me. He sat us immediately and laid menus on the clean table. Another welcome from handsome Carlos offered water and drinks. Just 2 coffees. He gave us a minute to look at the menus as he quickly arrived with our nice hit coffee. Each time here, I have enjoyed the smoked salmon fritatta. The smoked salmon is cooked into the eggs with roasted vegetables. My first time I thought I was ordering Lox. It's still really good, so it's my regular now. This one was just slightly overcooked but enjoyable. First Watch offers good food, quickly. This is a well run establishment. The employees moved with knowledgeable precision. Hats off to everyone here.

Let me start saying this locations extremely cold so ladies bring a light jacket or sweater. Next it is very loud so don't expect to have a conversation without yelling at your party. We were told 20 to 30 minutes wait to be seated, is was more like 10-15. They have a great cold brew coffee and fresh kale juice. The problem we experienced is how long it takes to make a omelet and a salad! Food service at this location is really slow so bring your patience with your appetite. When our food did arrive I must admit it was worth the wait. My salad was outstanding and my wife really enjoyed the omelet that she ordered to taste. Overall it was worth our first visit and I will remember to bring a jacket for myself next time we visit. Until next time....

Came in on a Sunday right before 10am and got seated right away. Our server was nice and attentive. Decent crowd so noise was average. My friend brought her 1-year old and was given a high chair and a coloring sheet with crayons for him. They also have booster seats. They had their fall menu and I ordered the Barbacoa Quesadilla Benedict - SO good! I also ordered their new Honey Caramel Crunch Iced Coffee. It was super sweet for me that I had to order a separate Cold Brew to mix it with. If you like sweet though, you'll love this drink. Overall, we had a really good experience. The fall menu was a nice surprise and I will definitely try to be back before they get rid of it!

I have been here a few times and the food and service are always great. Food is fresh and everyone is friendly. The drinks taste really good but are very weak, I kind of thought maybe they forgot to add the alcohol?! We sat outside on their small patio and it was nice as long as we stayed under the umbrella.

I have been going for the past year, and they are consistent every time. Recently we went as a family. The vibe was amazing as usual. Warm, welcoming, and effortlessly charming. The staff? Always incredible. They're genuinely friendly, super attentive, and their recommendations never miss. Now the FOOD. We ordered a mix of sweet and savory, and every single item delivered: The peach pecan streusel crêpe was pure comfort warm, buttery, and perfectly balanced with that sweet, nutty crunch. I usually get extra caramel drizzle. The French toast crêpe. Imagine your favorite brunch classic leveled up into something soft, rich, and absolutely indulgent. The Nutella and banana crêpe is a crowd pleaser, especially for kids. It's creamy, chocolatey, and just the right amount of sweetness. The turkey, goat cheese, and avocado panini brought the savory side. The flavor was great, and came with kettle chips. The drinks were just as fun and unique. The butterfly pea flower lemonade, was not only refreshing but visually stunning. We also got the mango soda and a blueberry soda, both bursting with flavor and kid approved. Everything about Café Davina just hits right. The food, the drinks, the atmosphere, the people. It's one of those places where you walk in and immediately feel good, and then leave already planning your next visit. If you're looking for amazing crêpes, a cozy vibe, and consistently great service. This place is it!

The decor has Polynesian touches, the drinks and food nod to Samoan flavors (like taro and Spam musubi), and you can tell it's a true family business built with a lot of pride and hard work. My friend and I first heard about this spot and literally drove about 25 minutes from Ghent Norfolk over to Bel-Aire Norfolk just to try it out, and it still remains one of our favorite coffee shops in Norfolk. Totally worth crossing town for. On my first visit, I got the Apelu Island Iced Latte, a Taro Cupcake with vanilla icing and toasted coconut, and a Spam Musubi with egg. That combo right there? Dangerous. The latte was smooth and lightly sweet with that pretty taro purple, the cupcake was super moist with the coconut giving it that little crunch on top, and the Spam Musubi with egg was the perfect salty-savory bite to go with my coffee instead of the usual basic breakfast sandwich. Second visit, I pulled back up for their Taro Pumpkin Roll Latte with oat milk (one of their fall specials), and I'm still thinking about it. It tasted like fall but with that island twist; cozy, a little earthy from the taro, and not overly sweet. Just really well-balanced and comforting. The staff has been warm and welcoming every time I've gone in; smiling, chatting with customers, and making it feel like a neighborhood spot even if you drove in from across town. It's the kind of place where you can sit, catch up with a friend, get some work done, or just enjoy your drink and snack without feeling rushed. If you're anywhere in Norfolk and haven't tried Apelu Island Cafe yet, go. From the lattes to the taro treats to the musubi, it's one of those places that makes you want to become a regular. More people need to know about this place.

I love this area of the city - feels a little small town/a little suburban. I have the coffee passport and was excited to try this new-to-me spot. Mudita sits just off Ocean View Ave practically on the beach. On this visit, there was ample street parking, but I dare say it is tricky on weekends and during the summer. It is in a pedestrian-friendly area, which is a plus, so it's easy to walk to. They do make a point to remind you not to park in the lot belonging to the adjacent shopping center or risk being towed. When I stopped in, it was empty except for one table. I let them know this was my first visit and the staff was happy to tell me about seasonal specials. They have a variety of teas and coffees. I do wish they had a sample of their food menu where they take orders. I didn't notice it until I picked up my drink, so I'll have to return when I have more time to peruse it. For my first visit, I wanted to try a seasonal special drink and opted for the Vietnamese Egg Coffee. It was described as an Americano style drink with egg custard foam. They offer decaf which is a plus so I selected this. It was ready in about 5 mins and was absolutely delicious. The only downside was the size. I wasn't expecting an espresso sized beverage for the price, but probably because I'm used to a Starbucks Americano which is bigger (even for a tall) and has slightly more hot water. The flavor was impressive and I much prefer the espresso Mudita uses! Overall, a great experience. I don't often venture out to OV, but I'll definitely stop back in when in the area!

It's tucked away on Fort Monroe - a little off the beaten path for me, but well with the visit. Google maps had me coming from the back side of the building but once you find your way around, there is ample parking and some outdoor seating for nice days. Like any converted firehouse the only windows are from the large roll-up doors. The inside is cozy with plenty of comfy seating. They offer free Wi-Fi and activities for little ones including lots of fire trucks to play with so this would be a nice spot for families. Already planning to bring my family in for a stop on the way to Williamsburg. Plenty of coffee and non-coffee options plus seasonal specials and tons of flavor choices, including sugar free. I opted for a sugar-free dark chocolate latte which was delicious - perfect level of sweetness and just the right temperature. I also ordered an egg and cheese sandwich on naan bread. They have multiple cheese and other bread options. The egg was a little over seasoned but flavor was good. Compared to the major chains and other independent coffee shops, prices here are reasonable. Overall a great visit with welcoming and helpful staff. Looking forward to a trip back!

I already knew this was my destination as I had been following them since they opened in VB. Upon our arrival we found the Cafe about a 1/4th of the way full so I had hopes for breakfast in a quiet setting. Even though there was a steady flow of traffic, we were able to dine in a relaxed setting without feeling rushed. I mention this because with it being a holiday weekend full of Jeepers, I fully expected them to be packed. The wait to order was too long as it left me staring at the pastry window so long I almost ordered one of everything however; I refrained from doing so but still bought 4 pastries, French toast & seasoned potatoes. Yes yes, alot of food for 1 person but I still had 2 days left in my visit and well, I have a thing for pastries. The pastries were: mango & passion fruit eclair, a pineapple muffin, lemon raspberry cake & profiteroles. I loved everything with the exception of the eclair. It wasn't anything against the eclair, it's just the mango/passionfruit mixture was just too passionate for my tastes. The muffin reminded me of my own homemade upside pineapple cake without all the brown sugar. It was light and buttery. The Lemon raspberry slice was delightful & not the least bit tart or too sweet. A mixture of both flavors without either one overpowering the other. The cake was super moist, perfect. The profiteroles were my favorite. They reminded me of that feeling I had the 1st time I tasted them while living in Italy. The choux perfectly baked and so delightfully light. The French toast was good enough without the side of syrup. The star for me of the breakfast items were the potatoes. I LOVED them. They were served HOT, seasoned just right with their insides softer that a baby bottom. I coulda just ordered 2 servings of those & bypassed the toast. All in all, well worth the wait.
