Spent just shy of $400 on 2 people in their "speak easy" They add an 18% gratuity, on every check; and won't serve you until they make this clear. That alone: is a turnoff to me. I tip above 20% 95% of the time. The food was average at best. Temperature was off on both entries. Taste was nothing special. We only had 2 mixed drinks, and 2 glasses of wine. The 1st dirty martini was made with vermouth after I specifically said no vermouth. I was billed for both. Neither martini was topped off. Both were 1-1.5 inches from the top. Wine was fine. The service was ok. Not great. The table settings are bland, and could be found in a Dennys restaurant. After a below average dining experience; I was a bit surprised with a $375 bill. Suppose I should have paid more attention to the prices for side dishes and deserts. Adding insult to injury: I somehow left my Amex behind at the table. First time in my life. Then the fun began. My wife and I called the restaurant and had to leave messages 5 times between us, to confirm they had the card and to arrange a pickup. Not one call back: in 5 calls!!! Finally ordered a new card. Usually my experience here is a 10 out of 10 especially dining at the bar or in their Speak Easy room. However, yesterday was a little blah due to the assumption that I was going to receive fresh cut fries with my burger I ordered but it wasn't until after the fact that I asked the waitress what's up and she was advised that she was just advised that the Cook or Chef were serving the happy hour fries during Restaurant Week such a bummer. If this was known before ordering I would have not ordered this. I ordered off the regular menu but received happy hour fries instead of fresh cut fries definitely no comparison so this definitely had a brow raised for me. Oh well, my Bestest, this was her first time dining in last night and she had a good time. She ate all her food as she participated in ordering off the Restaurant Week menu and also had two white Cosmos. She definitely enjoyed everything! Our waitress Bailey was awesome as well Cute girl! have been to this restaurant many times and usually sit I'm the speakeasy. This time I was very disappointed. The food was good but that was where the good things stopped. The service was very slow it took forever to get our drinks. With 2 drink minimum you thinkthey would be trying to get drinks out as fast as possible but I was only able to order 2. The drink price on the menu was not the same as on our tab, our waitress only checked on us twice and had someone else bring us food. When I asked for more water or another drink I was told I had to wait for my waiter and waited another 10 minutes before she ever came. I used to recommend this place but will never recommend again. It's too bad they add gratuity to check because our waitress deserved maximum 10%. I will not be visiting again. I was blessed to be able to eat in the speak easy room. My first dish was the she crab soup. It was served kind of cold so I sent it back. It came back hot. I ordered the crab cake as my entree. The crab cake was hot but the items under were colds I sent that back and when it came back now the crab cake was somewhat cold and still certain items under it was cold. I ordered the donut balls for desert and they were hot but very dense and somewhat drier than I expected. We had a great date night at fin& tonic. Its a nice dining space with a bit of an upscale feel so feels like a treat yourself restaurant. They have a great bar - with good cocktails and mocktails! The menu is a bit limited but offers some non-seafood options. We thoroughly enjoyed the bang bang shrimp, the wagu steak and the surf and turf. I will say without purchasing the additional lump crab, the surf and turf feels a little lacking on the "surf". My gf had raved about this place in the past & it's been on my list so I was happy when she has suggested it for a girls night out one random weekday. We sat in the speak easy which requires a 2 drink minimum and automatic gratuity which was fine, we just wanted to enjoy the ambiance. Our waitress was nice personality wise but not attentive. I literally had to get up a couple of times to go to the bar after large amounts of time would pass before anyone would come to check on us leaving our water glasses empty, cocktails empty, and us without silverware... NOW LETS GET TO WHAT CAUSED US TO LEAVE ABRUPTLY WITHOUT FINISHING... We started with the lobster leg rangoons which were okay and the tuna tartare (an abomination btw.. basically a mound of vanilla ice cream on top of raw tuna) idk why I thought this was a good idea lol but I was expecting something a litttttle bit different. For entrees we both chose the beef tenderloin ($55) mine cooked medium and my friends cooked medium rare.. she also added foie gras. When our mains came out everything looked good from the outside but my friend's medium rare clearly came out WELL DONE so obviously we're going to send it back bc it's a simple fix right? You would think. After having to chase down our server to send it back which she agreed the meat was overcooked, she took it back to the kitchen. After 20 mins (stale face) the food came back out fresh and hot and with an apology for the wait but guess what? The foie gras was missing (which is my friends fav addition) so of course we chased down the server again to let her know. She goes to the kitchen to let them know the foie gras was missing and you know what the kitchen had to say? They accused my friend of eating the foie gras from the first plate and they didn't want to remake it. EXCUSE ME?!?? Our jaws were on the floor. We did not take a bite of that plate but with it being SMOTHERED in the sauce it comes with maybe they didn't notice it but that's on them. This left suchhhhh a bad taste in our mouth that at this point we were ready to go. They ended up sending out the tiniest piece of foie gras they could find but again, we didn't want to stay in there a second longer. OH I left out another server/bartender heard me say it was the tiniest piece ever and came over to reiterate on the fact that they said we ate the last ones and he watched them weigh it...bruh. After that we stopped eating and asked for the check and left their funky foie gras on the table. I told the waitress we felt disrespected and did not appreciate how we were treated. We ended up arriving earlier than anticipated so the dining area was not open yet. However, we were greeted with kindness and decided to sit at the bar. We enjoyed our drinks during happy hour and ordered a charcuterie board from the bar food menu. The variety of meats and cheeses was decent and everything tasted pretty delicious. It was a Wednesday so they had wagyu Wednesday and the wagyu beef and burgers were half off. We both ordered the wagyu beef that came with sweet potato's, scallops, and Brussels sprouts and it had a sauce mixed with everything. This was so delicious, I highly recommend. Disappointing Experience - Discrimination Toward Pregnancy I had a reservation confirmed for today, specifically requesting to be seated in the speakeasy area. When I called to confirm, I clearly asked if my pregnancy would be an issue, and was told it wouldn't be -- the only requirement mentioned was being over 21. We showed up for our Father's Day reservation, dressed nicely for a date night, and were told by the hostess that they were "out of seats." When I asked if it was first-come-first-serve despite having a confirmed reservation, she hesitated and then changed her reasoning -- suddenly claiming there was a two-drink minimum and that because I'm pregnant, I couldn't be seated. This minimum was never mentioned on the call, and frankly, it's a discriminatory and illogical policy. What if someone chooses to drink only one drink? What if someone is the designated driver or has medical limitations? This feels like a clear case of gatekeeping and pregnancy discrimination, wrapped in inconsistent excuses. To make it worse, just minutes later, we watched as a party of three -- who arrived before us and was seated in a different area -- was escorted into the speakeasy and seated. It was obvious those seats were available the entire time, and likely meant for us. The only difference? I'm visibly pregnant. Beyond that, the restaurant applies a 20% gratuity automatically regardless of party size -- something I typically don't mind, but it felt especially off-putting in this context. As for the food? It was fine. A bit salty for my taste and honestly not worth the price point -- but I have no complaints toward the chefs. The issue here is with management and the way pregnant guests are treated. We came in with respect and transparency, followed all the rules we were told -- and were met with shifting explanations and a complete disregard for our reservation. Absolutely unacceptable. A coworker told me this was the place to dine. I asked if she had eaten here and she said no. Mental note never take a restaurant recommendation from someone who has not eaten at recommended place. We started with their fall blend Sangria. Not the best Sangria I've ever had: I didn't taste any of the apple cider in it. Disappointing. My daughter had the octopus which was tough and cold. She asked me to taste the potatoes because she said they taste previously frozen. I had the crab dip. The dip was luke warm, but not hot and the crostinis were so hard I was fearful of breaking my tooth: I also didn't like the way they were placed on the plate. I could see the food prep area. They scooped them out with a bowl. No one had on gloves either. The server said they toasty the crostinis themselves. Hmmmm. Now to the entrees, I had prime tenderloin which was supposed to be medium but it was more on the medium well side and stringy. The vegetables were nicely prepared but needed a pinch of salt. My daughter's Parmesan risotto was tasteless and the smoked salmon, which was a beautiful presentation was under cooked. She asked for it medium some parts of it looked raw. She also got a crabcake, which she said was the best thing she'd had there. Because they were triple booked the server gave me a dessert. She said their bread pudding was awesome, it wasn't. It was dry and I've had much much better. The ambiance was that of a rented space with inexpensive tables and chairs. There was no background music or great decor to create a perfect experience. The bathroom was awful. Final piece, as a patron I would like to decide the gratuity. While our server was attentive and tried her best to keep us updated and happy on a busy night, it would have been nice to know that it was going to be automatically added. I truly believe that restaurant personnel should be paid a fair living wage to start with and what they are tipped should be a bonus! There was also a surcharge if you paid with card. If I had known I would have visited the ATM....but I would have been unprepared for the $240 bill for two people. I was not impressed! We had an amazing time at this establishment. Our waitress was absolutely lovely, and the chef kept checking in on us as well. The food was wonderful. The tuna tartare was spicy, fresh and addicting. This is a must try if you're in the area. When you speak with the hostess though, you have to ask to go to the speakeasy. It's a hidden room with a sultrier, more romantic vibe. The mixed drinks are amazing. I can't remember his name (will update when I get it) but the mixologist was so knowledgeable & also made drinks up on the fly that were DELICIOUS. I wasn't enticed by any of the drinks on the menu & asked if he had any lavender syrup to make a drink with. While he didn't have the syrup, he was still able to make a wonderful lavender drink with some infused oil he had. He is very creative with his drinks & definitely knows his stuff! I didn't try any of the food this time, but will definitely be back for more of his cocktail creations & to try some of the food that looked & smelled amazing. 15/10 for the mixologist. What a win this place is. Every time we've come out here, the service, food, and event has always been a win. The best part is that they do great additions/specials to the menu and the reservation system works well. Sometimes, if you just call, it'll work out better because they're pretty good at squeezing you in between some of the reservations. I always did enjoy that aspect of the customer service. Overall, this place has yet to ever disappoint. I will say they did add a 'service charge' that some places are doing so I'd highly recommend going into it knowing what to expect. So tonight was hot date night. We try something new. Tonight was the speakeasy portion of fun and tonic. We selected the chefs choice 5 course dinner. So crazy good. The ambiance of the room is crazy cool. Darker, more hip kind of vibe. The servers were awesome. Just as excited to be there as we were. Now to the food. Started with tuna tartare with shiracha ice cream. First let me say siracha ice cream is not on anybody's menu but is was amazing especially with the tuna tartare. Which was fresh and tasty. I could have eaten that alone all night. Course two was our favorite and the best I've ever had. Crab cake with a sauce spread across the plate. Oh my. So good this is the way a crab cake should taste. Crispy well seasoned and bigger than usual. The sauce added a nice creaminess to the plate. If I wasn't in public I might have licked the plate clean. Third course. Scallops. Two good sized scallops on some sort of grain. I can't remember but it added a nice texture to the scallop. The sauce was delicious and tangy. Very good. Fourth course. Waygu steak with a truffle demi sauce. We are not truffle fans but this was not overtly triple infused so that made us happy the steak was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. Fifth course was dessert. They called it almond joy. Flourless chocolate cake with ice cream. Caramel and chocolate sauce and coconut. It was good and a little bit of everything on the spoon tasted a lot like an almond joy. Last night I dined at the restaurant and reserved a table in their speakeasy. I arrived ahead of my scheduled reservation time and was seated promptly. I actually was excited about dining there. My smile quickly went away. Here's why... The service was lack luster. More importantly, the food was VERY disappointing! I was served a very small sliver of a flat piece of salmon that was barely seasoned AND overcooked. I also ordered a side of the risotto. It was loaded with shredded cheese on the top, too salty, and brought out later than my salmon which sat on the table lonely and getting cold. The best part of my evening was my cocktail. The mixologist made a PERFECT French 75 using Hendricks (at my request of course)! The ambiance was nice; however, the lighting was a little too bright for a speakeasy. We were seated at a small 2 person table and the server just jammed the entrees onto the table. By the time we finished our appetizers the entrees were cold. The restaurant includes a mandatory 20% service charge and the statement that menu prices are cash price only...they don't clearly inform you of the upcharge to pay by credit card. It was a very underwhelming and somewhat frustrating experience. It was our first and last dining experience there. Our party of four visited May 7th to celebrate a birthday and had called ahead for reservations and let them know it was a special occasion. When we arrived we were seated in an area that looked like a sub shop with a view of the kitchen. I asked about the speak easy decor I saw online. They did find us a table in the Speak Easy which does have a really cool vibe. But we were treated like we were a bother. Our service was not great. Appetizers came out several minutes apart. Drink orders were forgotten and had to be repeatedly requested. One of the dinner orders came back completely wrong and the correct order (salmon) was served partially raw. Our server was flip and said we didn't need to tip her! We did because we know that is their living, but again we were a bother. The dinners that were correct were just okay and nothing great. I'm okay with this if we are informed up front. None of us saw anything on the menu. If it was there, it must have been in very small print. And it is dark in the speak easy room so hard to read the menu overall. Our server even asked us if it was our first visit and we said "yes"; she should have told us then about the automatic service charge. We all added another 20% since we did not know. My friend lives nearby and she made a dinner reservation for an early Saturday dinner for "Galentine's". It wasn't busy bc it was 5pm but the "back room" was all full except for bar seating and we didn't want that so we sat in the large main dining room in a spacious and comfy booth. The kitchen is open so you can see the magic happening. Our waitress was very professional, polite, and knowledgable about the menu. She made multiple suggestions for upsells and upgrades. We started with a crab dip which was pretty good with small toast chips. I chose a green salad for $14 prior to the entree of crab cake ($38). That green salad was wonderful. Fresh and delicious, lightly tossed in a wonderful vinaigrette and topped with fresh ribbons of carrot and cheese. Noms. I would order that salad every time. My crab cake was large and delicious - there was only one but it was easily the size of two smaller ones and loaded with fresh lump crab meat. Served with some puree of sweet potato swirled on the plate for style and some small chopped potatoes. Dessert looked delicious but we chose not to. We sat for a bit and were told we needed to vacate the table for the next reso and could move to the bar. All in all - it was good and service was great. They have a huge menu to please all tastes. Tons of seafood but also some nice, expensive steak (like one is a Wagyu for $140). I didn't see the speakeasy but that's cute and unique. Disappointing overall. Went there to celebrate my 70th birthday. Didn't even get a "happy birthday " from the server. Not a big deal but was hoping for something special. The good and the bad, the drinks were good, but took forever to arrive. Wanted the she crab soup appetizer, (wife's favorite), they ran out, and it was only 6:30, so that was bad, so got the firecracker shrimp, that was good. Wife got the crab cake, was big and loaded with crab, but was under seasoned and arrived cold. I got the special which was a Black Sea bass with couscous and kale and pepitos, it had good flavor, but had to fish out fish bones. Should've got the seafood pasta which was my first choice but server sorta pushed the bass, so my bad. 20% gratuity added to bill, then they add $5.00 for the pleasure of using my credit card! This was our first time at Fin and Tonic, but we are frequent visitors of their Peninsula restaurant, Fin. I was happy to see some familiar selections on the menu. Our waiter, Dustin, was great! He had great wine options (although we mostly went with cocktails) and he really catered to all of our needs. We started off with cocktails and several shareable appetizers. The coconut calamari were so good! Great texture and sauce. The charcuterie was 95% a winner; we weren't fans of the head cheese though. The shrimp were too spicy for me to try, but I sampled the sweet corn soup and it was delicious! The tuna tartare is a signature dish at Fin and was just as good as always. For an entree, I had the crab cake (Fin fave) and paired it with truffle Mac and cheese. I truly believe everything is better with truffle oil and this dish did not disappoint! So, so good! Just as good as a leftover the next day! My husband had the seafood pasta and it looked and tasted great! We were a party of 10 so I included pics of some of our other dishes. For dessert, we had the donuts and ice cream, which weren't super memorable but good. 5 STARS! Fin's crab cake is on my top 5 local list. Not a lot of filler and great portion. I'm missing the wow. That one thing that makes you want more. My friend and I were really looking for that. The entrance was decorated nicely with and artistic metal fish with blue lights behind it. The shrimp appetizer was pretty good. Great flavor. My succotash was cold. We had reservations. I requested a booth, but non were available. So we sat in an open area in a table. It was ok. Not my cup of tea though. Our waiter was fantastic! He had a wonderful vibe to him. He really sticks to his job and does well with it. I enjoyed the laughter and conversation from time to time. The soup was pretty good along side of the shrimp appetizer. The salmon was pretty good, but a little too dry. Overall the food was ok. We came for restaurant week. Enjoyed a wonderful Saturday lunch here while visiting Suffolk to see family. The restaurant has vibrant decor with a tasteful aquatic vibe. The dining room was well lit with lots of natural light and not noisy which was perfect for my 96 yr old grandmother. The service was fantastic. I don't recall the waiters name but he did mention he was the owners son. He was super helpful answering all of our questions and allowed us to dine at a leisurely pace without feeling rushed. The food was wonderful - crab dip starter, crab cake sandwich and entree and the scallops. No complaints for any of the dishes. Even though we were full, we ended with almond joy which was heavenly. Fantastic experience at the speakeasy. We love a good speakeasy and have been to many over the years. We tend to go in big cities, so to be totally honest, we were a bit skeptical about how this one would be, but every bite and every sip blew our expectations out of the water. This place is disgusting! How does this place have 4 starts??? The soup has so salty it was burning our throats. There was so much TRUFFLE OIL on their other soup it was it was substituted for the broth. What actual chef uses truffle oil. Gross! They entree we're not properly describe. The presentation of the plating is the only thing that this place has going for it. I'm not sure what all the hype is about, and I REALLY wanted to like this place. In my opinion the taste of food deserved no where near a $500 check for two people. The waitress however was impeccable, & really knew her liquors which was impressive. Recently went with my family and had several issues with the food. I have a gluten allergy (not celiac). I let out waitress know, and explained while I can't eat gluten, I can do cross contamination. One item was marked gluten free, and I asked if other items on the menu were GF. She said only the marked item was GF, but modifications could be made to other dishes. She then commented that one dish had only gluten from the soy sauce, so I could probably have that amount of gluten. I was extremely concerned by this statement because just because I am not celiac, does not mean I don't have an allergy. It lowered my confidence in them taking my allergy seriously and so I ordered the menu item marked GF. The bar tender was great, and made a delicious mocktail! When our table got our food, my husband got the wrong item. While they were correcting it, they boxed up the incorrect food and gave it to him to have, but we couldn't hear the waitress when she gave it to him, so we were confused when she gave him the incorrect order in a to go box, once we clarified we appreciated the gesture. When my husband got his correct dish, salmon, it was still very raw. He was over it at that point and was ready to go, but I did bring it up to our waitress because it was a health hazard. My food was lukewarm:partially cold. The waitress did verify that the flourless cake was gluten free before bringing the dessert menu, and the flourless cake was very good! To my understanding they took the automatic gratituty off our check to "comp" for the issues, did not charge for the incorrect meal they gave us in the to go box, but did charge for the raw salmon. I appreciated the thought, but taking away the gratituty charge did not feel like a true gesture to me, because it may not have been the waitress' fault the order was incorrect, and it felt rude not to tip at all. This restaurant is a place to visit if you want mediocre food and horrible service. Ordered crab dip, it came to the table cold. No real crab just a lot of cheese. Shrimp were also cold. Nothing tasted homemade or authentic. Also ordered fried catfish, two tacos and tachos. Tacos are a la carte for $5 each. Pricing is reasonable for most items but food tastes more like bar food. Lobster tachos are like nachos with a spoon full of rubbery lobster, tater tots with a bunch of processed orange cheese melt and onions avocado etc on top. Definitely not worth the money! The ambience is cold and airy, not relaxing at all. Cafeteria style with the open kitchen. My server Joslyn was horrible. She kept disappearing for 10-15 min at a time. My food sat on the counter under a heat lamp for 10 min (yes I timed it ), the chef kept calling the order out. Another server had to bring the food over to my table. When I received the bill, I figured out why the Joslyn wasn't even trying to earn a tip. 20% gratuity is automatically added to all checks. This allows the servers to give bad service and still receive a 20% tip. There is a lack of personalization and attentiveness with the servers. You feel like you're eating at a buffet and they only come around for refills. This was my first time visiting and Joslyn failed to welcome us to the establishment nor did she recommend any food items. It was just-what would you like to drink and off she went. I would only recommend this place for drinks at the bar and not the food. Food and service are below standards. Entire restaurant is cold and not relaxing. Just not worth the money or the drive.
