I went here for dinner and had an excellent dining experience! Our server was also the bartender and she was awesome! She was super attentive and answered all of our questions! We started with the brussel sprouts - delicious and shared a Caesar salad with bacon added. I had the flounder which came with ham (my husband ate the ham LOL), and sweet potato puree, pecans, and this sweet glaze. It was delicious! My husband had the ribs, and said they were super tender and dressed properly! He's particular about his pork so this was huge! He had a side of the fries with the roasted shallot mayo...can you say yummy?!? I had their cornbread, which was delicious with the salted butter! I had the crème brûlée for dessert...just excellent! They have booth, bar seating, and table seating. Everything was amazing!! We will definitely go back!!

Came here on a Saturday for lunch with a few friends and had a great time! Parking was surprisingly easy considering it is in the middle of downtown; there is a huge lot directly behind the restaurant. As soon as we were seated, the service was fast and efficient. We all got some salads and thought they were very delicious. I definitely want to come back to try their dinner menu and cocktails.

Lovely date night spot in charming downtown Suffolk! Park in the back and enjoy the short walk. Reservations online are recommended. I ordered the mole poblano beef shank with creamy polenta was incredible--tender, rich, perfect heat. My boyfriend's shrimp and grits with that buttery creole sauce disappeared in minutes (best he's ever had). Finished with warm apple cake (which the apples were locally picked) and homemade vanilla ice cream--heaven. Cozy, unique decor and a private back table made it extra intimate. Highly recommend! We'll be back soon.

Harper's is a great upscale spot in Suffolk, especially if you're not looking to battle the crowds for dinner in VB or Norfolk. Reservations are definitely recommended and as long as you book about a week in advance, you should have luck. A friend and I came here on a rainy September Saturday with a reservation at 6pm and were seated right away. Parking leaves much to be desired, but we scored a spot right in front of the restaurant. We started with the hush puppies and sorghum butter, a Coastal Reverie and a Rhubarb Rumor. The drinks were absolutely amazing and the hush puppies were delicious. The butter with the honey on top was chef's kiss. For entrees I had the pork chop and friend got the shrimp & grits. Such lovely portions and done to perfection. They actually overcooked my first pork chop and hadn't brought it out yet. Our server came out and kindly told me the news and said they were making a fresh one. I appreciated the proactive notice and thought that showed a lot of care and detail. Service was excellent! The only qualms of this place are that the metal chairs scrape against the floor and it was a bit stuffy. The bartender was also slamming beer bottles into the trash, which creates a not-so-nice ambiance, especially with a $$$ kind of place. I get things are busy but little touches go a long way. They also "ran out" of the rhubarb rumor when I went to order one, because my friend's was so good. I thought that was a little strange, so skipped a second cocktail. Overall, multiple visits to Harper's will be had!

Pasta bolognese and corn bread

The food was tasty and the service was great. Ambiance is charming and rustic. It was great spot for a date night- I probably wouldn't bring my kids here. Definitely more of a date night/bar scene, overall we enjoyed our dinner and the atmosphere. It was a little loud. The corn bread was not overwhelming.

Yes, so our first visit to Harper's Table. I had to leave town very early the next morning with no time to spare. We ran out for a quick dinner, Hubby the strict carnivore wanted a Rib eye, I planned on grilled fish. We found HT on a search. I was so ecstatic this place is NOT a dive. Reminds me of a local bar and Tavern McQuades in Long Island, NY. My dad was buddies with the owner so we frequently dined there. Nice dark wood bar, high tops, booths and tables. Very nostalgic decor. Servers quickly taking orders and serving foods. HT had fresh lima beans which was surprisingly serves to my table, instead of the Flash Fried Brussel sprouts. Hummm okayy. Each of our steaks were cooked JUST AS ORDERED. Where do they do that at?? I appreciate a pink inside steak, salt and pepper, finished with finishing butter and rested. Served with A la carte potato cake. Not much flavor there at all, so I dined on the fresh farm to table lima beans that I thought I didn't like. They were really cooked with love and honor to preserve the freshness of the gentle bean. HT is a do not miss. Reserve a table before you go. Seating is limited.

Ate here this evening with my wife for her birthday. The service was awesome and atmosphere good. Food was good, but expensive. For appetizers, we shared the pork belly biscuit and cesar salad. We enjoyed both. For dinner, my wife had the rockfish and I had the rigatoni bolognese. All was good, with portions reasonable. If you don't mind the increase in expense, give them a try. We enjoyed it!

Brownie with candied peanuts

They have a back room, which is great for large parties. The servers were all very nice and attentive. The pork slider appetizer is amazing. The strawberry jam pairs perfectly with the pork. The fried shrimp were a bit too fishy for my taste, so I would go the fried oyster route if you want fried seafood and don't like things too fishy. The pickled okra in the appetizer board had a pretty cool flavor, as did the actual pickles. You also can't go wrong with pimento cheese and Ritz crackers. The crab cake entre was pretty good, and if you like peas, the dish comes with plenty. I would definitely pass on the potato gratin. It looks really cool but unfortunately lacked flavor. The brownie has candied peanuts, which were different and pretty dang good!

Ribs and a side of "The Original" Potato Gratin.

What a treat to eat here tonight in Suffolk. My server Richard was great. The atmosphere was very chill and the restaurant ambiance was wonderfully pleasant. I ordered the ribs with potatoes au gratin. Wonderful take and presentation off of what you would call traditional au gratin. The food was delicious. Definitely would recommend and come again.

Top tier dining experience. Had the pleasure of meeting the chef, what a talent to be throwing down like that in the kitchen!

Overall this is a solid restaurant…read more.. My husband and I visited this restaurant I believe a year or two ago we came one night for dinner and everything was delicious I'm not a big soul food person so every now and again I'll go out with my husband for a soul food dinner. Even though our first visit here was about 2 years ago we did visit this past Saturday with two other couples to celebrate our husbands for husband appreciation day which is the third Saturday in April always. We had reservations for Saturday at noon and we arrived right on time and our space was already set for us. Our waitress/bartender Alize took care of us... very personable ...very sweet... customer service was a 10 out of 10. I will make mention ahead of time I did order cornbread later on and I never got it :( Omg! I did call but no answer so I figured I would just go ahead and charge it to the game but I was definitely looking forward to trying the cornbread with my grits. The ambience inside is definitely welcoming the music is not blasting definitely a comfortable volume. The parking can be an issue but we didn't have one. Parking was available on the street and it was only a short walk for us to get to the restaurant. Our meals out of the six of us present I believe at least half of us ordered the catfish one person ordered the turkey chops and that was basically the gist of our meals. I don't think anybody ordered any straight up breakfast food but I will say everybody was in agreeance that this meal and dining experience was amazing! We will definitely be back soon and we definitely recommend you trying out this restaurant. My meal in particular I had the grilled catfish and created my grits with honey jalapeno and butter and oh my goodness everything was good from beginning to end. Our drinks were top-notch as well! The bartender even made up a drink for one of the wives at the table. She didn't know what she wanted but wanted to be surprised and she was pleasantly surprised she ordered another one. Our husbands enjoyed their surprise brunch even though they had some kind of inkling that something was happening because we did get shirts for them to wear to match each other... Such a fun Saturday and a great dining experience by all highly recommend you give them a try if you're in the area! Have fun and enjoy life :)

Definitely enjoyed the old school music playing in the background!

It's restaurant week in Suffolk and sadly it ends today. We…read moretried to dine at another restaurant featured this week, but they ran out of all our choices... bummer. Nevertheless, Da'Lish to the rescue, and they did not disappoint! I heard of this place, and had it on my radar to try. It's only been open a few months now, but seeing the menu, this place is tempting. Well the wait is over, yesterday, my mother and I dined her for a late lunch and everything was on point. Our server, Rachelle (spelling maybe off) was friendly and greeted us immediately. My mother and I already knew our purpose... dine her for restaurant week so we selected items from the three course menu. We both had the 15 bean soup. Main dish - my mom had the pulled chicken and ribs - myself - the strawberry salad with salmon. Dessert - they were sold out of the cobbler, it was peach. Therefore, the only other option was cheesecake. However, we could choose our drizzle. Carmel for me and raspberry for my mom. My mom enjoyed every bite of her meal. With me... while I enjoyed my meal, I was a little disappointed in the salad. I did ask the contents and it was missed that onions are in the salad... yuck! I do not like raw onions. I did my best to eat around them and overall it was good, but I much would have loved it without the red onions. I asked to have my salmon blackened and they were able to deliver! My salmon was super tasty! I did eat a few strawberries, nuts and spinach leaves. I did try ribs and pulled chicken and both were tasty! My mom loved the toast that came with the meal. She even asked for more. The soup was flavorful and we wanted more, but kept it cute. The owner Dennis came out to talk with us and he was an absolute pleasure. I read the story on the menu - it was a good read. So I had an idea who the guy was when he walked out. Easy to talk to and he said he is the cook also! We definitely complimented him on everything. I even mentioned I wanted to try the jalapeno jerky he mentioned in the write up and to my surprise he had some for me to try! Da'Lish!!! I love jalapenos!! And this jerky had the spice and a hint of sweetness. An awesome combination!!! I highly recommend you stop in and dine because this hidden treasure is sure to delight you. From starters to dessert, definitely come to Suffolk and check them out. I understand they offer brunch on Sundays only from 9am to 2pm. I think I just might come here again very soon. The hospitality and food - they have what it takes! Wishing you all the best! Da'Lish it is!! Plenty of parking as this restaurant is located inside the Suffolk Cultural Arts building. Not hard to find at all. Come for a real treat! The atmosphere is warm and inviting. You can sit at a 2 or 4 person table and bar seating is available as well. Outdoor dining is an option too! Have fun and enjoy life :)

The fries were temperature hot, which is a plus for me; however, there was too much salt. The deviled eggs were truly Da'Lish.
