I visited Hollands on my way out of Suffolk. The vibe of the place is homey and comfortable. It was the Saturday of Easter weekend and they were doing lots of catering orders to-go. I didn't feel like anyone behind the counter was especially excited about taking my order. It was 10:45 am so I asked if it was too early to get a hot dog and I got a head shake, "no." So I ordered a hot dog and fries. The person at the registers went through a number a toppings and had me answer "yes/no" to each. I ended up with a chili cheese hot dog with mustard. The order came quickly. Two things struck me right away. The chili cheese dog was served with mustard packets on the side and the fries looked terribly undercooked. They didn't have any color on them and, when you picked one up, it immediately flopped over instead of holding its shape. The hot dog was good. I always appreciate a toasted bun. I do wish they had put the mustard on instead of giving me the packets. The fries got eaten after some generous reasoning. Overall my experience was ok. It seemed like regulars there and folks picking up catering got lots of love/attention that I definitely didn't receive.

I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich, it was really good and lightly fried. Service was ok. The lady at the front taking orders was really nice and the lady that delivered our food to our table was nice. Ambiance gave a small town feel. Overall it was a nice experience.

    Nice sunflower on the table.

We actually found this place by accident. I'm glad we did. This is a small, cozy restaurant. The ladies at the counter were very nice. I got the 2 meat club and my friend got catfish and potato salad. My meal was very good. The bacon was especially good. My friend enjoyed his catfish also. The star of the meal was the potato salad. Not everyone can make a good potato salad. This is was sooooo good. Had I not been traveling all day, I would've gotten some to go! They also had several cakes and pies. The chocolate cake looked delicious. I'll make sure to try that next time. Whenever I'm back in the area, I'm definitely going to come back!!

This place is a hidden gem in downtown! The staff was super friendly, and the restaurant was very clean. The prices are really good as well. The chicken sandwich was a bit tough to be honest but the breading was really good, and the fries were delicious. The only other knock was they don't make their own ranch! It was just packaged ranch. When you walk in you go to the register and order / pay before you get your food, then they deliver it to your table this took a sec for me to get but makes sense in retrospect. Overall highly recommend you check this place out if you're in downtown!

This was a nice little spot to stop at for a mid morning breakfast. It's very rustic and homey and they had Emerill playing on one of the TVs non stop which I loved. I was a bit confused at first on how to order, but the cashier was super nice and explained to me how things work. All of the girls working were very sweet and helpful. The turkey bacon was delicious, and the eggs were cooked to perfection. The pancakes were lovely with a nice hint of spice to them (cinnamon I think). I'll be back to try lunch another time.

    "Hangover Burger" w/ battered fries

I was staying in Downtown Suffolk overnight with my best friend for a wedding and we decided to pop into Holland's for a quick brunch before heading home. Walking in we were really digging the rustic, yet modern décor. After looking over the menu I decided on ordering "The Hangover Burger" topped with country ham, bacon, fried egg, jalepeño, chili, and pimento cheese. It was so good. Admittedly, I would've preferred the beef patty to have a little more seasoning; however, the flavor profile of the chili mixed with the pimento cheese on top of the burger was FIRE and gave it plenty of flavor. I was also a big fan of the battered fries that came on the side; furthermore, I loved the fact that they serve their sides of ranch (and I assume other sauces) in metal 1/4 measuring cups and that soft drinks come in mason jars. Little cutesy touches like that always make dining out that much more enjoyable. Our waitress Amanda was very nice and accommodating and checked on us regularly throughout our meal with a positive attitude. Overall, Holland's serves up delicious food with a homey feel and my friend and I had quite a pleasant experience.

Absolutely delicious food. Everything was yummilicious. Their homemade cakes and desserts are very good. Customer service is excellent. Definitely will return!!!

Holland's was a pleasant surprise for us. I had seen the sign outside when venturing around downtown but never had the chance to stop in. My wife and I went here one Monday for lunch and we had a great time. The establishment is very modern and pretty, the service was friendly, the mood was active and lively, and the food was delicious. Ordering took us a moment to figure out since there was a booklet for a menu and a wall with specials written on it and no clear direction as to whether we head to the bar or the side counter. Once another patron pointed us over to the counter on the left, we were greeted by an employee and then ready to go! We did have an issue with the meal since my fried chicken was still pink in the middle, but once I informed the server, she brought a fresh order out quickly and apologetically. Overall, great small town restaurant with friendly service and a modern feel

I've been to Holland's on a couple of occasions. Nice interior with a local feel. The food is decent but nothing spectacular. My French Toast was dry, sausage was good and taste homemade. The Country Ham here is delicious (not to salty or dry) and is available by the pound.

I ordered shrimp and grits, plenty of andoui sausage and shrimp made with creamy Gouda. Loved it. Had the wedge salad and strawberry cake with fresh homemade ice cream. Will return.

Sunday Brunch Burger and The Country Ham Sandwich
    Buddy B.

Ate brunch there today and was pleasantly surprised. I had the hangover burger and it was delicious. Service was fantastic and they sell sweets, breads and other fun foods. There is even a full bar if that's your thing. I think the brunch drink on Sunday was a $3 mimosa. 10/10, we will visit again.

Oh my goodness, we were so surprised with the presentation as well as the taste. The grits tasted fresh, large serving and seasoned well. The restaurant has a cool retro 1970s vibe with vintage colors, an old cigarette machine, and Bewitched playing on the TV, which made for a unique atmosphere. Unfortunately, the experience was a little inconsistent. We arrived with a party of four but were seated at a table with only three chairs. When we pointed it out, the host didn't seem to realize the problem at first, which was an odd start to the meal. Our server was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. She let us know they were out of the home fries and another menu item before we ordered, which wasn't a big issue. However, it took close to 40 minutes for our food to arrive. My son ordered a burger that was advertised with fried mac and cheese on top, but when it came out, the mac and cheese was missing. Only after we asked were we told they had run out. It would have been helpful to know that before we ordered. The server apologized and offered to make something else, but it would have taken another 30 minutes, so we decided to keep the burger as it was. She ended up removing it from the bill entirely, which we appreciated. We also tipped her based on the original total because she handled the situation well. The food was good. I enjoyed my grilled chicken sandwich with pear, Brie, and honey, and my husband liked his French dip. That said, we felt the prices were on the high side for the overall experience, especially considering the long wait, unavailable menu items, and other service issues. Overall, MOD Olive has a fun concept and an interesting menu, but the restaurant could have been cleaner, communication could have been better, and the value didn't quite match the price. We'd be willing to give it another try in the future, but we're hoping for a more polished experience next time.

Love it here!…read more Yesterday my husband and I dined at this restaurant for the prime rib special. Today Monday the day after is National prime rib day so the restaurant decided to feature a special on prime rib for Sunday dinner. My husband made reservations online for 5:00 p.m. we arrived on time with no wait and because the restaurant was fairly empty we decided to dine at the bar instead of a table in the actual dining room. Our bartender/waitress, Lizzie, she was on point held the whole bar area down punctual assertive and had everything under control. I ordered a margarita I did ask her is it a fresh Margarita and she said yes and my husband ordered his normal crown with a splash of Sprite. My margarita in my opinion it didn't taste as fresh as I would like it to be and then I don't care to have a margarita in a tall glass that just screams mix not fresh to me. Nevertheless I just know not to order that again going forward but my husband's cocktail... Crown Royal with Sprite he enjoyed it! I wasn't super hungry so I decided to order a salad and add a piece of blackened salmon to it it was very good finished it all up... ordered it my way. My husband ordered the prime rib I believe medium his was a little bit more than medium but nevertheless he said it was good and he ate every last Fork full. We decided to make room for dessert so we share the creme bruelle which was pretty good ...not the best ever tho. Our dining experience took about 90 minutes we were able again to sit at the bar and catch some of the NBA Playoffs that were featured on TV. Overall the dining experience was a 10 out of a 10 five stars as usual of course a few bumps, but nothing to take away from this experience. The Ambiance is always lovely very inviting love the low lighting that it gives as well as the natural light that comes through the windows. The service always on point! I highly recommend you give this place a try if you haven't dined here before...solid restaurant. Have fun and enjoy life :)

Nice cocktail selection and even better range for apps and mains. Loved the ahi tuna flatbread!! Our favorite of the apps. Cons Prices on the higher side even for a fancy restaurant in Richmond. Didn't love the complimentary bread and butter: I appreciated trying to make the butter something unique- going for savory and sweet the white chocolate and herbs but the white chocolate didn't really work for us as an ingredient. Felt like the bread should've been crusty for butter like this and not the soft rolls they served. Didn't care for the pork belly appetizer. Instead of being crispy, it was just tough.
