Buffalo chicken sandwich with a side of okra.
    Darius M.

I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich, it was really good and lightly fried. Service was ok. The lady at the front taking orders was really nice and the lady that delivered our food to our table was nice. Ambiance gave a small town feel. Overall it was a nice experience.

    Nice sunflower on the table.

We actually found this place by accident. I'm glad we did. This is a small, cozy restaurant. The ladies at the counter were very nice. I got the 2 meat club and my friend got catfish and potato salad. My meal was very good. The bacon was especially good. My friend enjoyed his catfish also. The star of the meal was the potato salad. Not everyone can make a good potato salad. This is was sooooo good. Had I not been traveling all day, I would've gotten some to go! They also had several cakes and pies. The chocolate cake looked delicious. I'll make sure to try that next time. Whenever I'm back in the area, I'm definitely going to come back!!

This place is a hidden gem in downtown! The staff was super friendly, and the restaurant was very clean. The prices are really good as well. The chicken sandwich was a bit tough to be honest but the breading was really good, and the fries were delicious. The only other knock was they don't make their own ranch! It was just packaged ranch. When you walk in you go to the register and order / pay before you get your food, then they deliver it to your table this took a sec for me to get but makes sense in retrospect. Overall highly recommend you check this place out if you're in downtown!

This was a nice little spot to stop at for a mid morning breakfast. It's very rustic and homey and they had Emerill playing on one of the TVs non stop which I loved. I was a bit confused at first on how to order, but the cashier was super nice and explained to me how things work. All of the girls working were very sweet and helpful. The turkey bacon was delicious, and the eggs were cooked to perfection. The pancakes were lovely with a nice hint of spice to them (cinnamon I think). I'll be back to try lunch another time.

    "Hangover Burger" w/ battered fries

I was staying in Downtown Suffolk overnight with my best friend for a wedding and we decided to pop into Holland's for a quick brunch before heading home. Walking in we were really digging the rustic, yet modern décor. After looking over the menu I decided on ordering "The Hangover Burger" topped with country ham, bacon, fried egg, jalepeño, chili, and pimento cheese. It was so good. Admittedly, I would've preferred the beef patty to have a little more seasoning; however, the flavor profile of the chili mixed with the pimento cheese on top of the burger was FIRE and gave it plenty of flavor. I was also a big fan of the battered fries that came on the side; furthermore, I loved the fact that they serve their sides of ranch (and I assume other sauces) in metal 1/4 measuring cups and that soft drinks come in mason jars. Little cutesy touches like that always make dining out that much more enjoyable. Our waitress Amanda was very nice and accommodating and checked on us regularly throughout our meal with a positive attitude. Overall, Holland's serves up delicious food with a homey feel and my friend and I had quite a pleasant experience.

Absolutely delicious food. Everything was yummilicious. Their homemade cakes and desserts are very good. Customer service is excellent. Definitely will return!!!

Holland's was a pleasant surprise for us. I had seen the sign outside when venturing around downtown but never had the chance to stop in. My wife and I went here one Monday for lunch and we had a great time. The establishment is very modern and pretty, the service was friendly, the mood was active and lively, and the food was delicious. Ordering took us a moment to figure out since there was a booklet for a menu and a wall with specials written on it and no clear direction as to whether we head to the bar or the side counter. Once another patron pointed us over to the counter on the left, we were greeted by an employee and then ready to go! We did have an issue with the meal since my fried chicken was still pink in the middle, but once I informed the server, she brought a fresh order out quickly and apologetically. Overall, great small town restaurant with friendly service and a modern feel

I've been to Holland's on a couple of occasions. Nice interior with a local feel. The food is decent but nothing spectacular. My French Toast was dry, sausage was good and taste homemade. The Country Ham here is delicious (not to salty or dry) and is available by the pound.

I ordered shrimp and grits, plenty of andoui sausage and shrimp made with creamy Gouda. Loved it. Had the wedge salad and strawberry cake with fresh homemade ice cream. Will return.

Sunday Brunch Burger and The Country Ham Sandwich
    Buddy B.

Ate brunch there today and was pleasantly surprised. I had the hangover burger and it was delicious. Service was fantastic and they sell sweets, breads and other fun foods. There is even a full bar if that's your thing. I think the brunch drink on Sunday was a $3 mimosa. 10/10, we will visit again.

    BLT, chips and a pickle.

This was one of those experiences that far exceeded every expectation, in every way. Absolutely…read moreworth the 20 minute drive from Portsmouth for our anniversary dinner. And downtown Suffolk is just beautiful and quaint, it feels friendly and idyllic. *Ambience: Extremely comfortable, super approachable, but also refined with lots of wood and brick, but open and airy, and lots of light. You walk in to a cocktail and bar area, with an incredible painted sign on the brick wall behind the bar, that is a total throwback. The bar is incredibly comfortable and open and warm feeling. There are hardwood tables and beautiful booths along with a private dining area in the back. Really couldn't ask for or want for a more comfortable environment. *Service: absolutely stellar, super friendly staff, our server could not have been nicer or more genuine, or had more of an "ownership attitude" as if the restaurant meant everything to her, and so did us being there. She knew everything on the menu, had great recommendations, and insured we were consistently taken care of. She truly missed nothing. Harper, the owner, came over to check on us and ensure we were enjoying ourselves. He couldn't have been nicer or kinder or more humble. Service was outstanding. *Food & Drinks: The food! The drinks! Oh man! I've been a "Yelp Elite Member" for almost 10 years and the food here at hT is near the top of all my reviews, hundreds of them. The highest quality ingredients, impeccably curated, ingeniously but simply paired, created with a true love for the art of cooking and the true joy of the consumer. This was obvious. We started with a Mainstream Manhattan and Old Fashioned from the bar. No ordinary bartender, she's a true mixologist/professional. Both drinks were excellent, no "simple syrup" used here, raw sugar cubes melted into the finest spirits, yummm! We order brussels sprouts from the appetizer menu everywhere we go and compare them. None have ever come close to our favorite, for a dozen years, until now. These were crispy on the outside, but juicy inside, flash fried to an al dente bite and finished (almost injected) with a cherry vinegar glaze that permeated every bite with sweet, tart perfection. We also started with the vibrant Camden County May Pea & Truffle Toast which was like a celebration of spring with a fresh, grilled baguette topped with fancy Italian truffle cheese (insane!), sweet tender may peas, and fresh pea shoots, all drizzled with olive oil for a fresh, earthy, and simple bite that captured the essence of this farm-to-table cuisine. For entrees we ordered the Ben Johnson's Soft Shell Crabs with remoulade and the Brown Sugar Brined Porkchop with pimp cheese, grits, and chard tomatoes with a side of hand cut fries with roast shallot mayo. Everything was stellar, no exceptions. I can honestly say this was **the best pork chop I've ever eaten, ever.** Tender, sweet, meaty and paired perfectly with the creamy cheese grits and the tang and smoke of the charred tomatoes. Ridiculously good! See my photos, too bad they don't come with "taste-o-vision", because, wow! The hand cut, skin on, double fried potatoes and roast shallot mayo were fantastic. As if that wasn't enough food, they also brought us stone ground cornbread, with a massive slab of rough salted butter, steamy, warm, soft, buttery perfection. I'm ready to go back now! *Value & Overall: I posted pictures of all menus and all prices. Their spirits and mixed drink selections from the bar are incredible. The food, service and ambience simply couldn't have been better. Prices, as you'll see, are exactly in line for what you get and an excellent value. Portions on everything were excellent and we ended up taking home quite a bit of food, which was also stellar the next day. I absolutely cannot recommend Harper's Table highly enough. This establishment, all parts of it, truly earn a five star review across the board with no exceptions. Have no hesitation, make a reservation, go, it will become an instant favorite.

The picnic plate was perfect for a small group to enjoy and the flounder fish and chips was great! The shrimp and grits were perfectly cooked and very flavorful as well! Bit of crispy brussels were a great table share for our party of three. This is a casual and comfortable location with plenty of seating. Didn't need a reservation for an early Saturday lunch, but available via Resy to secure your spot if desired. Not local, so just something to be aware of. First impression is strong. Specials, awards, and a "Top 25 Burger in the U.S. (2021)" recognition are clearly displayed when you walk in. Prices are surprisingly reasonable for the quality and ambition of the food. The interior is well thought out. Heavy gold-and-black design with light brown accent chairs gives it a polished, upscale feel without being flashy. Leather seating is in great shape, and the tall ceilings paired with black vertical boards make the space feel larger than it is. Lighting is excellent, especially considering there are very few windows. Music is smooth and casual, though to some it could be turned down just a notch. The kitchen is semi-open behind a half wall, which adds to the experience early on as cooking smells build anticipation. Toward the end of my visit, the space did get slightly smoky. I arrived to an empty restaurant, but by the time I left there were around 20-25 people dining. Service was a highlight. Randy showed exceptional hospitality and checked in consistently without hovering. Food hit the table in about six minutes, which is impressive, even considering I was the only guest at first. I ordered the Major Way burger with sautéed onions, bacon, and their house drip sauce. The patty came out piping hot with a great exterior sear, though the interior flavor relies heavily on the sauce. The onions were almost cold, which stood out against the hot patty. The sauce is excellent, creamy with a light spice, and it absolutely carries the burger. Without it, the burger would feel underwhelming by comparison. The bun could benefit from toasting, as the bun struggled to hold everything together. Lettuce and tomato were fresh and crisp. If ordering to go, I'd recommend getting the buns on the side. Traditional wings were done right. Crispy outside, moist inside, and good-sized whole wings. They're essentially well-executed fried chicken wings. While very good, I feel like some seasoning may be burning off in the fryer. I'd love to compare these to their sticky or "everything" wings. Colossal shrimp was excellent. Great batter, excellent house sauce, and perfectly cooked with real texture. The seasoning shines here without tasting burnt. The fries were standout. Easily some of the best I've had in a while. Skinny, twice-fried, fresh-cut potatoes with a (I think) honey BBQ dusting. I intentionally ordered a smaller portion so the photo isn't portioned to size. House-made fruit punch was fantastic. Sweet, clean, and refreshing without that artificial coating you get from bottled drinks. I also appreciate their use of paper bowls and plates instead of styrofoam. The restaurant was clean top to bottom, including the bathrooms, which is always a strong indicator of good management. Overall, this place punches well above its weight. In a larger city, food at this level would easily cost 2.5-5x more. If you're spending lunch money at major fast-food chains nearby, redirect it here. You'll leave full and without that post-fast-food regret.

Y'all do NOT judge a book by its cover. From the outside it definitely gives a little "divey neighborhood spot," but the food? FYE. Way better than you'd ever expect walking in! Now I gotta talk about this Caesar salad. When it hit the table, I made a face at my homegirl because why did I see tomatoes in my Caesar salad!? In all of my almost 34 years of life I've never seen that before. But listen, I took one bite and had to humble myself because it was honestly one of the best Caesars I've ever had. Got me right together. We also got the hot caprese queso appetizer with foccacia bread and it was absolutely delicious. My chicken parmesan pasta was also amazing. I put the leftover caprese queso on top of the pasta and it was a wrap from there! Me and all my friends agreed that the food was really good despite our first impressions. My husband and I visited this restaurant I believe a year or two ago we came one night for dinner and everything was delicious I'm not a big soul food person so every now and again I'll go out with my husband for a soul food dinner. Even though our first visit here was about 2 years ago we did visit this past Saturday with two other couples to celebrate our husbands for husband appreciation day which is the third Saturday in April always. We had reservations for Saturday at noon and we arrived right on time and our space was already set for us. Our waitress/bartender Alize took care of us... very personable ...very sweet... customer service was a 10 out of 10. I will make mention ahead of time I did order cornbread later on and I never got it :( Omg! I did call but no answer so I figured I would just go ahead and charge it to the game but I was definitely looking forward to trying the cornbread with my grits. The ambience inside is definitely welcoming the music is not blasting definitely a comfortable volume. The parking can be an issue but we didn't have one. Parking was available on the street and it was only a short walk for us to get to the restaurant. Our meals out of the six of us present I believe at least half of us ordered the catfish one person ordered the turkey chops and that was basically the gist of our meals. I don't think anybody ordered any straight up breakfast food but I will say everybody was in agreeance that this meal and dining experience was amazing! We will definitely be back soon and we definitely recommend you trying out this restaurant. My meal in particular I had the grilled catfish and created my grits with honey jalapeno and butter and oh my goodness everything was good from beginning to end. Our drinks were top-notch as well! The bartender even made up a drink for one of the wives at the table. She didn't know what she wanted but wanted to be surprised and she was pleasantly surprised she ordered another one. Our husbands enjoyed their surprise brunch even though they had some kind of inkling that something was happening because we did get shirts for them to wear to match each other... Such a fun Saturday and a great dining experience by all highly recommend you give them a try if you're in the area! Have fun and enjoy life :)
