I've been meaning to do a review on Barons and rant about how great it is. For starters this is one of my favorite bars to go to. This particular night I went with my boyfriend and we ordered drinks right off the bat. Drinks are such a steal! Good deals and happy hours available. The waitress was super friendly and service was top tier. I ordered the buffalo wings and they were flavorful and juicy. It's 10 wings for $13 which is a steal. My boyfriend ordered the Baron Burger, this particular day it was pretty dry which was alittle disappointing. Hopefully next time it'll be better. But overall this is a bar that's on rotation, good drinks and good food. read more

This restaurant is solid to me one of my favorite go to restaurants in the downtown area rather be for a burger a salad or the shrimp 10 out of 10 the drinks are great as well. Parking never been an issue but there's parking on the street as well as a lot that can be used that's adjacent to the restaurant. Go at your own risk but I highly recommend you check them out. Horrendous experience, it took 2 hours for my appetizer to come out, all the food came out separately and the table we sat at was dirty.

Baron's Pub in downtown Suffolk, Virginia, is one of those rare neighborhood gems We stopped in recently for lunch and were fortunate to have Jada as our server--and she absolutely made the afternoon. From the second we sat down, Jada was warm, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic. If every server were like Jada, restaurants would have far more repeat customers. The food more than lived up to the hospitality. Everything tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and generously portioned without being over-the-top heavy. Prices are reasonable and the daily specials make it easy to try something new without breaking the bank. If you're anywhere near Suffolk, do yourself a favor just drop in, no reservations required. And if you're lucky enough to get seated in Jada's section, you'll leave not only full and happy but also with that warm feeling that comes from truly excellent service. After shopping and being new to the area we stopped in for a quick cold beer. Jess was the bartender and she was very busy with the noon time crowd. A great find in Suffolk! I travel frequently to Suffolk for work and am always on the lookout for local dining spots. On Tuesday, the menu and photos for Baron's Pub caught my attention here on Yelp, so I decided to give it a try--and I'm so glad I did. My experience was awesome from start to finish. My waitress was fantastic--personable, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. She made a couple of recommendations, and I ended up ordering the 12 oz ribeye (medium rare), onion rings, and steamed broccoli. When the food arrived, it looked glorious. I honestly wish I had taken a picture. The portions were very generous--even by my standards. The steak was cooked perfectly and had great flavor from the seasoning. The onion rings were crispy and delicious, and the broccoli had just the right amount of firmness. I was offered dessert, but the main meal was more than enough--I was completely stuffed. Baron's Pub made a great first impression, and I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town! read more

I had lunch here the other day for the first time in years. The food was excellent. I had the oyster sandwich, which was filled with perfectly crisp fried oysters on a buttered roll with lettuce and tomato. They even give you a dill picket spear on the side. The natural cut fries were delicious and they give you so many. The fries have just the right amount of salt. The service was great! She was super attentive, like bringing you a refill before you ask attentive. They have plenty of seating including a bar area with high top tables. They also have daily specials. I don't eat burgers, but people swear by them. I have never had anything that didn't taste great. I really had a great dining experience at this Suffolk staple. read more

Very friendly and attentive waitress/bartender; casual sports bar atmosphere. My husband and I enjoyed the Lumpia and the Stuffed Mushrooms - they came out hot and were very tasty. We also had the fries which I love that they are fresh cut. They were tasty but a little too soft for me (my daughter would have loved them), so next time I would ask for extra crispy. The ranch and blue cheese on the side kicked them up a notch, too. We both plan on trying the burgers next time we go. Check them out when in Downtown Suffolk! read more

The ambiance is relaxing and enjoyable. The pilly cheese steak is amazing, along with the onion rings, YUM!! The ribeye steak, was requested as medium rare, what we got was medium center but outside was burnt and had no seasoning other than the taste of being burnt. Broccoli was perfect! Came in for a quick dinner with my husband today 10/2 . It was crowded so we decided to sit on the outside dining. We sat for 15 minutes and no one greeted us or even bring us a menu. The menu is vast and you will have a hard time trying to figure out what to order due to the great options. I settle for a burger and fries since it was simple and would let me gauge the food. The cowboy burger was amazing. I had to cut it in half to eat it! Everything was just perfect. The flavors meshed well and juiciness of the meat was more than a welcomed addition. The fries may look dry but they were phenomenal! I couldn't stop eating them. This meal was an easy 8.5 out of 10. I highly recommend trying this place. On June 27 I went to Barons with my family. We always go on fish Friday for the "special", We always got 2 nice size pieces of fish, and tons of fries. This time they had raised the price, we got one skimpy piece of fish and hardly any fies, the hush puppies were so burned we couldn't eat them. The food is good, and the service is great, but I won't be going back. It's not worth the price anymore. We got 3 fish specials and a small Philly steak and cheese, and it cost me $60.00, plus tip. It's not that good. We will be going to George's steak, he has loads of fish and fries for half what I paid here. read more

Not sure if there's a lot but we got pretty lucky with street parking! It was seat yourself so we grabbed a high top table where we could easily see the TV's and plopped ourselves down. There were three of us total and we started off with a few drinks and quickly ordered our food as it was relatively busy at the pub. I ordered the New York strip with mashed potatoes and fries - it was a pretty huge piece of steak I'll tell you! I think it was 12 oz and cooked pretty well, I was really happy with my cut. My other two friends unfortunately had some fattier pieces and didn't look as appetizing. They also had some mixups with their sides and we ended up getting a ton of extra food because she kept getting it wrong and brought out extra broccoli, extra fries, extra Mac and cheese and then because they didn't have scallops we ended up with another mound of shrimp. It was a lot and can't say it was all very good. I was very satisfied with my meal though! read more

However, a SIX PERCENT credit card surcharge is the highest I've ever seen. I felt like I was being taken advantage of. We have came here multiple times and we use to love this place. The service has been decent. We love all of the food BUT THE STEAK. The first time I got the luncheon steak medium rare and it was over done so I sent it back. It came back over done again and so covered in pepper I had to scrape it off to eat it. The SECOND time I ordered the steak again and it was over cooked AGAIN. I said nothing because I was afraid to so I just ate it. The THIRD TIME!!!! I got the ribeye it was over done so I sent it back and it came back raw and so coated in seasoning I scarped it off and it was almost a spoon full. After dealing with this multiple times I asked to speak with a manager. The owner comes over and yelled "what's the problem?" I have NEVER SPOKEN TO A MANAGER OR A OWNER BECAUSE IM SHY. Everyone was looking at us and I just felt bad. I explained the multiple bad experiences and he took the plate and walked away. The server let me know she took it off the bill. I know it wasn't her fault of course. I feel like if you send food back or say anything you get repercussions so we will not be going back. read more

Enjoyed the food, but to be out of all kinds of soda except Diet Coke is pathetic! And to be told you have been out for days is even worse! Only option offered was water or tea. The water tasted warm and like toilet water-it had an awful taste! The waitress we had tonight was the worst I have ever seen. Didn't take our order for 20 minutes, when I asked another waitress if she could locate ours, it took another 5 minutes for them to stand over by the bathroom and talk about us before she came over. Brought wrong drinks-I mean ice tea is a confusing one to make when you don't have soda-so the choice was water or tea... And don't bother asking what the sides are because her response was "I don't know." Then in the middle of the meal, she asked could she take my napkins??? WTF I still had half a hamburger and was eating. Then, she dropped off the check and NEVER returned...so... I was forced to either leave or pay in cash, which I did happen to have. This was my first and most likely last time here. AND the waitress carried out our straws in the palm of her hand (gripped) and they were not wrapped in anything, then she put her finger over the end of the straw and plopped it into our drinks. Ummmm I don't know where those hands had been and she wasn't the cleanest looking person I have ever seen. I would close the doors before I would let my restaurant be represented by someone who evidently has no work ethic! Like I said, it's a shame, the food was good, not great, but good. Seemed to be a decent place, but unfortunately, the waitstaff is the face of a restaurant and when you employ and allow people this bad to have a job, it ruins your restaurant's reputation. Our server, Krystal, was more than engaging and pleasant. Her opinions were 100% on point... here's the culinary tip of Suffolk: you can never go wrong with the fried oyster sandwich with a side of their Mac and cheese. Seriously, a solid 5.0 stars. Krystal, the wait staff and definitely the wait staff hit it out of the park. Best meal in Suffolk is the Baron's Pub fried oyster sandwich with a side of Mac and cheese. I recently rented out the private room at Barons for my son's rehearsal dinner. We had 30 people and the room rental came with a private bartender. I really can't rave about the experience enough! The whole thing went off without a hitch. The service was beyond wonderful. I hosted an open bar and open ordering from the menu. The food came out in a timely fashion and the drinks were flowing. The space itself is a speakeasy vibe and had a secret door that attached to the restaurant. It was completely private and large enough to probably accommodate at least 50. Our bartender Heather was a dream. She coordinated just about everything throughout the night and even helped me decorate. The food varies from pub fare to steak. Everything was hot & delicious. The appetizer trays I ordered ahead of time were ready right on time as people were coming in. I cannot recommend this place enough for any special occasions event. I checked out many places before I found Barons and I'm so happy I found them. Just to give you an idea of how reasonable they are, I did an open bar, open menu ordering and appetizer platters for 30 people. The tab with generous tips? $1,000.
