I also appreciate the lighting (in contrast to the casino floor) and the music is usually something I can sing along to. This visit did not do it for me. Our Food Concierge, Rudy, was attentive and friendly. I ordered the calamari and it was good. The honey mustard sauce seemed sweeter than I prefer. I am grateful that I hit the Firecracker shrimp naked because the sauce was .... Interesting. I definitely preferred to dip the shrimp. The rice cake.... Didn't like it at all. It was a little congested with the tables being in close proximity of one another. The chicken nachos were good. The server brought it to the table and the shrimp were stacked nicely on top of a fried potato cake and it was garnished with some type of red stringy plant. The shrimp barely had any sauce on it. Next, I ordered the pepperoni pizza with a side of wings. I asked for two flavors which were lemon pepper and Korean spicy garlic. The Korean chicken came coated with sauce, green onions and maybe some french onion pieces. It was just spicy honestly. Not seasoned thoroughly. The lemon pepper chicken wasn't seasoned either and barely had sauce once again. The pepperoni pizza wasn't anything to call home about. We ordered the grilled chicken with fries for my toddler. So, the grilled chicken wasn't charred in several ways to the point we really had to take our time and cut it up to the point where our child could eat it. My guy ordered steak(well done), but the waitress insisted that he order it medium well; being that they chargrill it and she didn't want it to be served hard. He picked broccolini, mashed potatoes, and asparagus as his sides. Well, the steak was very tender so thank you to the waitress for that, but overall the experience with our foods weren't it. There's two public doors but only one entrance and the other exit/entrance. I got two dishes. The poke nachos and this shittake garlic mushroom pasta (recommend by my server) The poke was good and I'm comparing this to home. The chips were crispy and held the poke nicely. Good flavoring and generous amount of fish. The pasta was just a surprise. It was really good. At first I was hesitant because there was no protein but it doesn't need it. Nice atmosphere! I've been here and dined a handful of times now and I'm a fan!! This location has been around at least a year if not a little longer and they have yet to disappoint me. In fact, they've cranked it up a notch during each visit. My most recent visit was for a dinner party with about 20+ guests. The staff was on point and our meals were superb! My husbae is a fan of the jambalaya and my go to meal is now a simple salad and add blackened salmon! I went here last night for a work event and the staff seemed a little overwhelmed by the size of our party. Also, the food came out slow because half of the order did not get put in due to an error but we were able to make the best of it. I don't believe they have the capacity to handle large groups but the food is bomb. We had pizza, sliders, nachos, chicken lettuce wraps and chicken tenders. The pizza was my favorite of the night. It had pepperoni, sausage and bacon, It was bomb! And the chicken wraps came with a sweet chilli and a peanut sauce. Oh and I can't forget about the Brussels sprouts, those were some of the best ones I've ever had. The restaurant is very large with plenty of seating for small or large groups. They have a big bar with lots of tvs great for the sports enthusiasts. When my server was busy helping another table other servers jumped in to assist as well. I love how all of the servers were helping each other. The happy hour specials are half apps and drink deals ($2 -$3 off depending on drink and oz). My food came out really fast and it wad hot and fresh. Last night i went to this yard house for the first time. It is connected to the new casino, so please be prepared for crowds in and outside. The parking lot is huge, so be prepared for a walk if you don't get a close spot. It is very nice, and similar to the other yard houses. I am glad this is the second one in the area. Parking is available in the reserved parking space curbside or in the huge parking lot. Interior is industrial/modern with exposed mechanical and electrical in the exposed ceiling along with garage doors (that I assume they open to form a patio), however the interior colors are warm plus the really cool view into the Casino so I'd say this is a unique space. "Liz" took more than good care of us with our ordering and selection of adult beverages. My cheeseburger was good and substantial (not those "thin" burgers you see at many places) with fries and a very respectable pickle and a fair price. Are server had everything set up and decor ready to go when we arrived. Their menu is always is very welcoming for every palette and desire. The happy hour menu is a great option for those who want to try a little bit of everything or share appetizers. Had the flavor sweet tea dried peach and strawberry both were amazingly great and I am a picky tea drinker the wings are fried to perfection but the good crispy batter and the sauces are also not too heavy and drowns out the crunch of the wing. This is not a 5 Star establishment, but they sure act like it. The food is great, the beverage choices are awesome, and the service is phenomenal. Yard House is separate from the casino, but must have some relationship to draw customers in since the value is as good or greater than any other restaurant in the Chesapeake Portsmouth area. My wife and I have visited at least five times since they opened and have not had one single bad experience. If I had to pick the thing they do best, it would be their wait staff service. They really act like they want to be there and truly care about each table. If you're anything like us, you've really seen the food service industry decline over the last few years. Where so I start. The restaurant was not able to reserve a table for 20 guests without me arriving 2 hrs early at 4 pm for dinner at 6 pm. This was really fine. I did arrive at 4, I was greeted by the same young lady I spoke to 2 weeks earlier. The Mgr. then took my reservation for 6 pm. My cell was taken. ,my sister was in town for hubby's celebration, so we exited to the casino foe the duration of our wait. We, of course, enjoyed the energy of the loud, smokey casino. Rivers Casino is NOTHING like Las Vegas. The smoke at times was just overwhelming to me in some areas. We played a variety of games, then retreated to the Sound Bar for an afternoon drink and observed the sights of people playing tables, slots, and whatever else they offer. At 5:45, I exited and returned to the YARD HOUSE to let them know I was still there. Immediately, the table was ready. I'm super excited since things just worked out. I was allowed to set up some small table decor and cake. Our Hostess Kya was super sweet, professional, and calm. The 5 stars are only for this bomb, young lady!!! I know my people, and we dine out frequently, from place to place, state to state, along with fraternal organizations we all are members of. We vacation together, private chef events, beachhouse yearly the whole shebang. I asked for just waters for everyone as I set the table and awaited guests. There was a huge fire and accident close to the casino exit, which held up most guest as they were diverted from the closed exit. Now about 6:45 people started to tricky in. With most of us there, Kya took our drink orders. Followed by appetizers' orders. This is where things started to break down. Nothing ,absolutely NOTHING came our consistent. The restaurant was absolutely packed, Kya did her best to communicate with us and serve what was available to her to serve our table. Entree orders were taken, and nothing happened for at least 40 minutes. We enjoyed drinks and shared apps that were served to us. My daughter and SIL entree arrived as their entree was the first to come out. The wait was excruciating for any entrées after that. About 1 hour passed, and the entrées started coming out in the order they were taken. So. 1ST Glazed salmon burnt Brocollni with dry hard salmon. Simple hamburger,over cooked. Grilled chicken, my husbands rubeye was perfectly cooked and seasoned well..he enjoyed my steak bowl was like left over steak tossed on top of quinoa. I believe great flavor with a variety of greens. My friend next to me ordered Salmon. way under cooked. Every other meal was hit or miss.. By this time we just wanted to go on with the plans for the rest of the evening. With complete understanding of the size of our party 16 people. 1 couple went to the VA BEACH location, late and gave up. While another couple just couldn't make it last minute. We all enjoyed our spending time chattering without a schedule of events. Enjoyed most of the appetizers and great Rib eyes that came out. The kitchen staff need help. The bar could use help. I saw so many staff walking around and wondered what part they played at the YARD HOUSE. So again the 5 starts are for the flavorful meals we enjoyed, and Kya attentiveness to our party. I am writing to report an extremely disappointing experience during my visit to Yard House on February 26, 2026, when my daughter and I came in for an early birthday celebration during happy hour. After checking in with the hostess, we waited at the bar and ordered drinks and food while waiting for our table. When we received the text that our table was ready and moved over, the manager approached us in a manner that felt accusatory, questioning what we were doing and implying that we might leave without paying our bar tab. Once seated, the situation worsened as we were never assigned a server the entire evening despite being seated between other actively served tables. A waitress repeatedly walked past our table without acknowledging us, and we had to ask other staff members for basic items such as ranch dressing, napkins, ketchup, and plates, even getting up ourselves to retrieve items. When I asked to speak with management, (Tony Rine) the concern was not addressed, and the response was dismissive with only a brief apology and no attempt to resolve the service failure. To make matters worse, when I stood up from the table to speak with the manager again, I slipped due to umbrellas left on the floor behind our table, creating a clear safety hazard for guests. While I did not seek medical attention at the time, I want the incident documented. What was most concerning was how the situation was handled by management, as the interaction felt dismissive and no effort was made to correct the situation while we were there. My family and I visit this location regularly, at least every other week, which is why this experience was so surprising and disappointing, and I would appreciate this situation being formally reviewed so that the level of service and guest safety we previously experienced at Yard House can be restored. Update: Corporate has sent a gift card for a little over the amount spent that night. For the obvious service failure and apologized for any inconvenience. Been here a few times since opening. At first I honestly hated it strictly because of the wait. However, I quickly learned I did it wrong. You REALLY have to use the online wait platform. It's quite seamless. Our last visit we timed it so well, we only waited 2 minutes. From here our last visit was awesome. Our server, she was super friendly, attentive, and punctual. However, our last visit, the server was friendly... but lacked any attention to helping us. It was bad. I couldn't even justify giving him my usual 20% tip. The way things have been divided is that the server usually brings water, tends to a few minor things, then that's really it. Heck last couple times we ordered, the server placed the order on the tablet that sits on the tablet. Regarding the food - I gotta give they credit - they're quite consistent. I do like that taste of their food and it's a win in that area. My only gripe is dang they expensive. For a nice dinner (drinks, etc.) for two, you can easily break beyond $100 if you go big. Not a bad thing just different. The server was great with one exception. These places that have that pay at the table machine need to stop. It is cheap and denies a person the opportunity to thank the server for a good job. Often my wife and I would tip with cash directly to the server. But once that table top machine comes into play we don't see our server. The food was good better than a lot of chains of this price point t and style.
