We arrived at 5:30 PM and unfortunately the service got off to a rough start. By 5:45 PM, we still hadn't seen a waiter or waitress. When we asked an employee walking by how long it would be before we could order, she asked who our server was. After we explained that no one had come to our table yet, she simply walked away without helping. Our waitress finally appeared around 5:50 PM, but before speaking to us, she served a table that had arrived about 10 minutes after we did. We weren't the only ones waiting either--the table seated before us was also still waiting to be served. Once we were finally able to place our order, the food came out quickly. We ordered 1 lb. of shrimp and 1 lb. of crab legs in garlic butter with mild spice. The food was flavorful, and there was more than enough for two people. I'd give the food an 8/10. The service, however, was disappointing. Our server was friendly when she interacted with us, but she was very slow and never checked on us during the meal. Overall, I'd rate the service a 3/10. Worse place ever! When there just now. Air conditioner was broken...that's ok I guess it happens....the place smelled like rotten fish! They have no glassware- asked for wine and a glass of water - big paper cups. It was ridiculous! No one at the bar where I sat and yet the bartender took her time like she had a full house. Buckets everywhere, bibs flying, and crab legs stacked like they're competing in a bodybuilding competition. I ordered a seafood bag that arrived looking like a surprise party thrown by Poseidon himself--steamy, spicy, and slightly threatening. When I opened it, a potato shot out like it was escaping captivity. Respect. The crab legs were fantastic. I cracked one open and felt like a triumphant Viking claiming victory over shellfish. The seasoning? Bold enough to make my lips tingle and my ancestors question my choices--but in a good way. The server checked on me just often enough to make sure I wasn't being strangled by a renegade shrimp, which I appreciated. They even gave me extra napkins without me asking, which is the seafood equivalent of true love. My only complaint--and why it's not five stars--is that by the end, I smelled exactly like the inside of the bag I ordered from. My car still thinks I'm transporting a small aquarium. This restaurant has a covered parking garage attached if that matters to you. The music was a whole vibe. Straight throwback R&B filled the restaurant. Noise level was at a minimum. Everyone was truly just vibing. Establishment was clean overall! Sanai was our server and babygirl was on point. She welcomed us as soon as we were seated by the Hostess! Sanai took our drink and food orders right away. We waited maybe fifteen minutes at most and received fresh food just like that. I mean it was piping hot. Crabs slid right out the shell with no hassle. Whoever cooking in that kitchen knows exactly what they're doing. My man and I enjoyed our experience and most def will eat here again. This place had soild happy hour deals and who doesn't love seafood. The prices were reasonable for your standard seafood boil. We opted to add broccoli (highly recommend) and egg. The sauce was a little on the salty side so if you're worried about that ask them to go lite. Overall the food was solid, prices fair, and worth the trip for the service. You can tell Lauren is a seasoned professional, engaging but not overbearing, proactive in tending to her customers, and great energy. If I come back to town, I'd visit again. read more

Talk about getting more bang for your buck. The food was chef's kiss. The flavors they have here are spot on. Not over salted like some places and not bland like other places. Me and my friend ordered off of the happy hour menu and we did the Mix Match Two. Your able to mix and match two types of seafood for $13.99. I ordered shrimp (head off) and class. Both were really good. However the only thing is with the clams you might not get as much meat. Next time I'm gonna get the mussels. I also ordered the Cajun calamari and it wasn't to bad. That could've been a butch crisper but that's pretty much it. The service isn't bad. The food took about 15 minutes to come out. The food here is amazing!!! I visited on a work trip and it was so so delicious, if I'm ever in Norfolk I'm definitely coming here again! The service was fast, and the staff were super friendly when I came to pick up my food (thanks Zeffia)!! However, the thing that makes this place amazing is the care and thoughtfulness of the staff! I needed an extra copy of my receipt from when I visited on my trip, and the staff at the Twisted Crab were so accommodating and helpful. The general manager Deshea Nathan was amazing, she took the time to listen to what I needed and just really went the extra mile to help me through every step of the process.
